I’m not the best at giving reviews of a novel no would be happy if other could give their views on this novel, but I guess I’ll take the first step.

The main thing that got me into this novel is the fluff. I’m always down for some cats and tsundere MLs! And true to its name, you’ll see a lot of the cat in this novel!

another thing here that is good is the character growth. I won’t reveal much of the plot because we’re still early in the story rn,... more>> but even the MC you don’t like at first grows on you after a while.

There is romance in the story, but it’s somewhat slow burn. But all the fluff almost makes you forget about it~ <<less

I was interested in the novel after the 8 translated chapters, so I MTLed up until c57. However, I plan to drop the novel now. The author systematically broke down all the tension points from the introduction, turning this interesting novel about self-improvement under duress into a bog-standard romance sitcom or telenovela. The fact that this novel is nearly 300 chapters long IMO validates my impression that the novel doesn't have 300 chapters worth of content, just lots and lots of filler and misunderstandings and different perspective points to pad... more>> out the length. The novel barely even talks about magic after c30 or so, and most of the FL's magic improvements happen in short subchapters - 90% of the novel is spent on drama and emotional monologues.

Spoiler

The prince is actually super duper in love with the FL, just awkward at showing it. The sister loves the prince, but she's not fundamentally a bad person and realizes that her sister is working really hard. The ML and two other guys fall in love with the FL within a few dozen chapters. The FL remains oblivious to all of this, because if she realized the novel would be over really quickly.

So basically, instead of a situation fraught with tension about how the FL will find self-empowerment and status away from her cheating partner, the novel from a reader's perspective is just a bunch of hot men fighting over a clueless girl. The ending, looking forward at c295, is just what you'd expect - no particular twists, just drama filler until the author decided the novel was over.

[collapse]

Maybe that's too harsh from just reading c57/c295? Either way, I'm dropping the novel here - IMO, I just don't see much improvement in the near future. Great translation quality, though!

This is refreshing, a nice escape from this hot, serious summer. I'm glad I didn't let fear of cat cutsiness keep me from giving it a try.

I don't really feel qualified to write a review of a novel this early on, but what I can say is that so far I'm tickled by the premise, the alternating POVs, and the possibilities for adventure and character development. I hope that long nights of strenuous magic training--and resulting prowess--will allow our heroine sweat out of her system those near toxic levels of... more>> humility with which she (and maybe 75% of heroines) seems to be afflicted. Wouldn't that be fun to watch?! I'm looking forward to seeing our leads become comrades, have adventures, and even start cracking smiles. Romance? Why not? <<less
