The world of sword and magic where the hero and the demon king fight. Fell — a demon girl, sets foot on the land where humans live with her master the demon king, with a purpose of establishing a friendly relationship with them.

Under such circumstances, despite possessing an extraordinary power as a demon race, Fell is continuously being pushed around by the humans around her.

Later in the distant future, the diary that Fell wrote during that time will be found in the deepest level of the biggest dungeon in the world, and become a controversy. There are those who call it the holy scripture, while the others call it the forbidden book.

This is a story about a demon girl called Fell and her diary, the story of laughter and tears.

Let me make it clear, this is not your run-of-the-mill slice of life novel. The story will be heading towards an unexpected direction as it goes through various plot twists. The early volumes are just prelude before the main story, so don't let them mislead you.

Rated it 5 stars to counter the number of 1 star ratings (It definitely doesn't deserve 1 *). Otherwise I would put it at 4 stars due to the misleading title and summary.

This is a 'cute' and 'carefree' series, in the PoV of the Demon Girl Fell who integrates herself in the human world. You could say its similar to some of those 'slow life' series where characters do nothing but farm all day and don't kill enemies (though the reasons are more valid here). If you only like PURE... more>> CONCENTRATED DRAGON BALL VIOLENCE or something then this is definitely not for you. At least judge a story by the genre and its target audience.

Now the cons is that despite this being called "Demon Lord Observation Diary", the Demon Lord himself is like an afterthought (subject to change). There are also no controversal tiny diary sections (yet) like "I Ended up as the Hero's Mother after Reincarnating" which could have honestly been quite neat.

EDIT: Also the characters are suspiciously 'very Japanese' in most of their actions. Might be a con if you are sick of 'cliched lines' <<less

While the story's development is intriguing and progressively more mysterious with each chapter, the cutesy displays throughout the novel may create a false sense of comfort that detracts from the overall suspense. However, the mysterious plotline remains a strong point and keeps the reader engaged. What a solid novel

story of adventurer. Open-mined protagonist who is ignorance of the world. Discover new things. Range from common sense of foreign land to secret that can shake the world. When people around her has their goals and agendas. And all are go along with good comedy.

A bland and disappointing read. Like the other review says, the titular Demon King barely exists in the story. It's mostly just Fell living in the village with some basic fish out of water comedy thrown in. The WN is717 chapters, so I'm sure what I read was only the "prologue." That's a common problem with web novels, though—pacing. Similar to the three-episode rule for anime, I give novels about 10-20 chapters to hook me, and this failed in that regard. I'm not a fan of "it gets good after... more>> 100 chapters bro, trust me" series.

Going by the Demon King's behavior, and the fact that this is a Japanese web novel, I'm going to wager a guess that he's a typical beta male Japanese teenager who was reincarnated as the Demon Lord, and is in a "fake it 'til you make it" story a la Overlord, Demon Lord Retry, etc. He knows that there will be a food crisis, so perhaps he died in the future and was reincarnated ten years before, or he's living out some Japanese story that he's familiar with. He's cowardly and refuses to eat in front of Fell for some reason, so that also makes me think he's your usual beta male MC. So, going by that possibility, a story from the perspective of a subordinate with rose-colored glasses is a nice idea. Too bad the story is bland as hell, from what I've read anyway. Maybe it'll suddenly get better 60 chapters from now, but I'm not sticking around for it.

The author has other series. Maybe he's improved? I doubt it, but I might check them out anyway. It looks like the author locked comments/reviews on one of his series (滅亡の魔女と時渡りの竜), so that's always a good sign...

The translation by Sabishii is a rough read, and it's probably either a machine translation or the translator doesn't have English as their native language. Lots of awkward grammar and typos, and stiff lines. <<less
