Amamiya Hiroto is unlucky. His life consisted of misfortune after misfortune, culminating in an unlucky death during an incident on a school boat trip, trying to save a girl he barely knew. After death, he met a god of reincarnation who requested that the hundred or so dead passengers—one of them being the girl he tried in vain to save—be reincarnated into another world.

Yet a series of unfortunate events forced Hiroto to reincarnate with even less luck than before, starting with nothing but a tremendous amount of Mana. His second life, far worse than his first, came to a cruel end.

However, upon meeting the god a second time, he was informed that there would be yet another reincarnation—one that had already been set in motion and could not be stopped. Not wanting Hiroto to live long, the god cursed him before he was reborn in the hopes that he would either die quickly or commit su*cide.

Hiroto was reborn once more as a half-Vampire, half-Dark Elf. A Dhampir. Not wanting a fourth life, he is determined to live this third life with the only things remaining from his previous lives—death-attribute magic and his enormous Mana pool.

Okay I really wish that I could comment on peoples posts but here it is all here. (And almost all of this will be spoilers and I wont block it so spoiler warning)

The MC isn't kind the reason he didn't kill the townspeople is because his mother deliberately didn't want him to do so and to be honest what he did would be worse than killing them in the long run.

If you were to keep reading you would see him actively killing and taking revenge on people like... more>> per say the person who ratted his mother of being with a vampire and being a dark elf.

He is actively gaining power for the soul purpose of finding and killing the party who killed his mother.

Also he is going against the literal gods of this world killing 2-5 so far.

Befriending monsters, evil gods and becoming the second coming of the demon king.

Watching his mother die made him insane he wouldn't deliberately seek out people to kill but he wouldn't hesitate to kill even for a second if it came to it and from the previous torture not having any prominent emotions.

If you read the first chapter you would know he got reincarnated with 100 other people to the second world.

In the third world he is being targeted by the other reincarnators but successfully befriends some and kills the others.

Getting jobs like Demigod, Demon king and Divine enemy further proves my point on previous statements.

There is a lot more I could say but this is all, and I will say more later but don't tr*sh talk this light novel, you can have an opinion but learn before you speak and read more before you immediately judge. <<less

I'm giving this a 4-star on account of the world-building. It's downright awesome. You don't really get much of it in the early chapters, but as the author starts slowly fleshing it out, and especially around the beginning of the Talosheim chapters, I've really begun enjoying how well put together it is. Furthermore, the translator is just so good. They started out a bit shaky in the beginning, but at some point it began reading like a regular English novel, not like a translated one.

I'm also a big fan of... more>> the concept of the god of reincarnation just being a blundering sysadmin and IT guy who doesn't understand how humans work. Unfortunately, there are a lot of little minuses that build up if you step back and think about them. Cliche abounds, the incompetence of the god of reincarnation was just a little bit too much, and at the point I'm at the MC is just getting a bit too OP. Am I still reading it? Yeah, but things are currently going so smoothly for him that it's just an accounting of "then he did this, then he did that" at some points. Also, although his harem has been very platonic until now and even surprisingly easy to accept, it's quite creepy when you think about it. Imagine a gender-flipped scenario in which a little girl around 5 was being jokingly (?) hit on by a bunch of fully-grown adult men, planning for their future babies with her and such. It's creepy! There's no way around it! I wish the author had opted for more of these ladies to relate to the protagonist in different roles that didn't involve romance.

I'm still reading, though. <<less

One of my favorites, great world building, and likable characters with reasonable depth. Both fight scenes and the more slice of life stuff in between are well done. As long as you don’t mind a slightly slow story it’s a good read.

Spoiler

people complain about Vandalieu being too nice but he acts nice because while he’s insane and (towards those who hurt his friends) quite violent, he doesn’t want to lose his humanity. His kindness is for his own mental health and happiness as well as to help make the people he cares about happy.

The review by OtakuLNReader has some other good points, no point adding any more repetition to the board than I probably already have. <<less

I’m giving 4 stars because it’s not the best one out there, but it’s a d*nm good one to read. The story is great, but kinna slow-pace, the battle is awesome, the revenge parts are so satisfying, and for me, the most interesting part is the world-building and psychological aspects. Only minor parts are criticized in my view. If you like me, this is definitely for you.

I have read the reviews that low rating and over c100, some of them are valid at some point but most critics they gave... more>> are very subjective and often place their own standard onto MC which are not something you should base your judgments on.

First, here is the points that I agree with:

  1. MC handicap is irrelevant: this is true [especially after MC got his Mental Encroachment skill (too convenient skill and the way he got it) and the first Demon Fragment. /spoiler] But I my opinion, it doesn’t affect the story much.
  2. THICC plot armor: I mean... let’s be real, 90% of Japanese isekai/battle genre have thicc plot armored MC. After c200+, he is more or less invincible, but after that point the story focus on how he affects and develop the world and other invincible enemies like MC [ (the Gods, the reincarnation individuals, Banda and Origin...) /spoiler]. Does it make the story bad? You decide.
  3. Some side characters are bland: I totally agree, I forgot the name of most characters that are not mentioned in every 10 chapter. Maybe it’s just me.
  4. Food chapters are too much and boring: yes. But not quite irrelevant.
Second, points that I half-agree:

  1. MC life turning point become Easy Mode: it’s true that MC have some unique quirk [like giant mana pool/spoiler] that make it easier to learning and training magic, etc. This makes MC grow much faster than “the norm” of the world MC living in. But I don’t think the story got boring because of this. [Remember the vast mana pool is like a big container without water in it, MC can have many skills but without training, knowledge and the most interesting point the story delivered is trial and error, in and out of combat./spoiler] Even when MC become OP enough to devourer gods, it’s not getting boring.
  2. Everyone around MC worshiping him like god and become puppet: the former part is true, but I think it well explained. In facts, those worshipping him are not become absolute zealot in the first place, they only be attracted by him and he have to prove himself to become worshiped [ (the MC doesn’t want to be worshiped). For example, Borkus didn’t get charmed when first met, only when MC prove he able to melt the cursed ice, found clue of Talosheim’s whereabout, promised to rebuild the kingdom and actually done it, Borkus trust MC and allow being charmed. Those become puppet immediately are ones who weak-minded or know that resist is futile./spoiler]
  3. The enemy are c*cky: yes, some, but not every enemies. Some are just misinformation about the MC, and simply acts on those with caution, but unfortunately, not enough. [In the story, is getting repeated many times that “human judge others by their own standard”, and the MC is insane (even confirmed by author), no one can grasp the sense of madness./spoiler]
Finally, points that I’m disagree with:

  1. MC is weak-minded because he didn’t take genocide revenge: those think that are people don’t pay attention to the detail. [MC ultimate goal is to live a peaceful life/spoiler], if he chose not to kill is mean it’s will upset people around him or leave unwanted consequences. He only deems someone his enemy when they get in his or his people ways, or when innocents came to him for request of revenge. [For example, the reason he didn’t destroy the village where his mom executed is because his mom said that she doesn’t want him to be hunted, but he took action despite the warning because he still wanted revenge, which lead to many incidents later being linked directly to the MC, make his enemy quickly became vigilant of him/spoiler].
  2. MC have crippling inferiority complex --> which is bad: look at the MC situations, his enemies and potential enemies, no wonder he became like that. But instead turn to fear, he became vigilant and never underestimate his opponents, that is why some abilities beyond imagination are still in his realm of thought.
  3. [MC mother role is irrelevant: I don’t want to say this, but who ever said this is really st*pid. The MC mother’s role is extremely essential, she is the reason why MC doesn’t go completely mad yet. Yes, her appearance and contribution to the arcs before she revives is barely seen, but one of many big reasons why the MC is the way he is now is Darcia./spoiler]
  4. The battle is simple when you analyze it: when the advantage tilted to MC side, he’s mostly hold himself back to do experiment, [or give EX points to his allies/spoiler]. When titled to enemy side, tactics and strategies being use in various ways. [For example, the fight vs Heinz in Trial of Bellwood dungeon, tactics and quick-thinking obviously showed in the battle. I don’t know why they said that battle is mostly brute force./spoiler]
  5. [MC turn 180, became a “good guy”: the time when he was sent to Rodcorte and screamed revenge was because he was in unstable state of mind. Like I said earlier, all MC wants is happy life, he does good deeds and stop himself from total genocide is because of that. But MC not a complete “good guy” definition, he is good by nature, but he willing to take down an entire nation just to save those innocents and frails./spoiler]

Not really good at reviews...

But I just love this novel so much. At this point, I consider myself a follower of Van-sama... more>>
Spoiler

unfortunately, I can't get his blessing...

[collapse]

Positives:

  • world building is amazing, I feel like I can actually see what it's like in the two worlds described in the story
  • character development, now lots of people are complaining about this
Spoiler

MC literally went from a vengeful and spiteful person to a fluffy person who only wants to protect his friends and families

[collapse]

Now, I get what people are saying and at first I was also like, I didn't come here for this s**t! But then, as I continued to read, I really loved how the plot progressed.

Spoiler

LET'S ALSO NOT FORGET THAT MC IS AN EMOTIONLESS INSANE CHILD. Like, he literally went insane because of the things he went through and it was stated many times throughout the novel

not only was he abused, neglected and ignored on Earth, but he was made a lab rat for 20 (?) -ish years in origin and he was also killed by his "classmates" who practically forgot his existence. You can't really blame him for tightly holding on the hands that showed him warmth for the first time, just saying

[collapse]

I mean, obviously you can say anything you want. But in my opinion, MC's character development is much much better than other mindless killing machines in other novels that refuses to develop even a little bit.

  • plot, the plot is great for me, could be improved obviously, but still great
Spoiler

I like the complex connections between the gods, the demon king and the former heroes. The gods play a very active role in managing their world. And the conflict between the righteous gods' faction and MC's faction is very prevalent. It also explained why MC's body housed a very large amount of mana and his affinity with Death-attribute magic

[collapse]

  • Length of chapters
One chapter is worth a read of three to five chapters of other light novels. That's how LONG one chapter is.

Negatives:

  • too many characters
There are hundreds of characters in this story, which at times you might think is relevant in the story but then disappears after 3-4 chapters.

  • ridiculous amount of magic and skills that does not make sense
I get the game status features of the novel, but there are lots of things in those statuses that doesn't really apply or get applied in the story. The only thing a reader has to know about Van's status for example is his ability to charm and control spirits and undead because of his death-attribute magic.

Honestly, the novel could've still worked without the game features

  • Curses
Another game feature that was SUPPOSED to hinder MC's growth, but disappeared and was completely forgotten by both the author and the MC. MC was afflicted by three curses by the idiot god who reincarnated them to encourage the former to quickly kill himself, but it's importance is practically none and the burden on MC is also none.

  • Harem
Now, I don't dislike harem. I have read countless LNs with harem elements. But literally almost every female in this story is obsessed with MC. I get that his death magic allows him to unconditionally charm creatures of the dark (like vampires and undead), but it doesn't mean I have to like it lol. Currently, MC is biologically an 11-year old damphir, but he already has miles long of females of different races queuing to be his mistresses.

About the action scenes, I'm like meh. I skip over those parts.

Note:

Spoiler

My favorite parts of this novel are the side stories about the interaction of Banda and Meh-kun ❤

Such wasted potential.

The story starts very enticingly. We are given an MC that went through hell. We see him trying to build himself a life, try to put himself together. We learn that there a lot of dangers awaiting him.

After all that build-up, The story is reduced to OP MC in another world, and don't forget the cooking.

... more>> What we get is plot armor after plot armor. He doesn't even need the plot armor because the villains are just s*upid. They are cringey, third rate villains with the s*upid monologue trope.

The main cast of characters has no personality what so ever. We don't get to know any of them and we have no idea what their motivations are. They just turn into mindless s*aves under MC and his Japanese style cooking.

This novel is on the edge of being a wish-fulfillment type story. If you like that, go ahead. If not, stay clear. <<less

Among the greatest things about the novel is the many elements of content that can arise from just reading.

Sure, it does have a slow start and at times the plot seems to be waning.

Ah! But the operative word is seems to. Like all top class magicians, and they don’t come much topper than the Protagonist, he always has endless surprises up his sleeve.

... more>> Even the writing is hardly mediocre, it is beyond even level 10 writing. The plot follows a large arc and simply cannot be judged by any one chapter.

The whole plot is worth the read, even if one has to get through the “boring” but really important chapters to get to the real treatment: The finale.

Every arc culminates to a dramatic point. Eventually the Protagonist will keep you waiting and wanting for more. Even though what is currently happening does not seem to be that interesting.

The plot greatly depends on the previous happenings.

In short terms: “read the whole darn thing before you review any book!” <<less

I love this story. It started off as a revenge story but it changed to one of being strong enough to protect his loved ones. Theres no romance even though Van has many, many potential partners but his focus is still protection. He is just a lovable boy who does things cause it's right until his family is being threatened. I like that the story is not only focusing on him and his partners. It's starting to include others as well.

Okay, I don't normally write reviews mostly because I'm not good with words, so here goes nothing.

After reading up to the latest chapter I thought I'd make something clear. This story isn't like your usual ones. It isn't centered towards a certain genre or a certain ending or that end-game boss fight. It just flows on its own, building the world and main characters of its roster.

The good things

A lot of characters in this novel are actually quite unique. They have their own opinions and beliefs, yet their way of... more>> thinking is developing gradually with each event. It's wonderful and enticing to read. The world building is solid and steady, not just a massive load of information laid down every now and then, but little bits whenever needed. The fight scenes are actually quite good too. It sort of balances itself out as it keeps going, one of the great things about this novel. Some fights MC is way too OP for them, some he's too weak to even do anything but run, but most actually have a lot of struggle and strategy to win, mostly defense oriented fights with counter attacks, that sort of thing. It's not just the power that dictates a fight, but the environment and strategy, which was quite unexpected to find in such a novel. The power ups are also fluctuating, there is always someone stronger yet the power-up are gradual or either medium power ups every now and then, which is the most different compared to its companion novels of the same genre. All in all, it's a very unique novel.

Now onto the bad parts the earned it a 4/5.

Novel does everything great except one thing, the side characters. SO MANY side characters are introduced at the end of each arc, only for them to be forgotten aside from those one-liners every now and then. You'll find yourself struggling who tf is this character whenever they drop that comment or express their opinion every now and then. I get that with nation-building characteristic of this novel that there are bound to be characters that develop behind the scenes, but by the time of writing this review, after reading 208 chapters + 30 side chapters, I can confidently say that I hardly remember half the side characters introduced. Sure, there are some that do develop obviously enough that you'd remember, but that's just not the way character development should be. It's a stark contrast between the 'some characters' mentioned above with wonderfully written development. That's about my honest review.

TL;DR Novel is unique and wonderful in every aspect except the introduction of too many forgotten side characters. <<less

I don't think its right for the most voted reviews to have only read the first 2 or 30 chapters but lets get to the review. I think its a good web novel to listen to or to read and the story starts to get much better at the later volumes for me im gonna give it a 5 out of 5 not because its perfect but because it was much better then what I expected.

Dont expect too much and indulge yourself to the world.

Its not a complex story that you would think of. Its just a story with a very human-ly characters. It means they look complex as facade but just a plain selfish people which is a core attritube as a human. People often gave a low rating due to their expectations. It got a world building type of writing which is typically boring for some people who doesnt understand the essence of journey or adventures while reading. Strong point.

The MC lacks personality but his companions fills the gaps as he grew up. You'll understand the charm when he'll gain a lot of key allies later on. <<less

Personally I do not find a particular flaw in the story or in the construction of the character but I was a doubt about the appearance of van on the label says "Character Androgyne" would like someone to clarify that both Van-chan (Vandalieu) is like a woman at the level of slightly feminine or can wear women's clothing and everyone will think she is a young girl with white skin like a gothic lolita.
Also although this more than anything my opinion the excessive taste for muscles removes charm to... more>> Van-chan. <<less

A great start to an interesting story quickly turned unfortunate when things got out of hand. Far too many characters exist all at once to the extent that each chapter needs an appendix just to remind you who all the minor characters that don't matter but keep showing up are. The antagonists are much less numerous and more memorable for the most part (except the antagonists that show up once or twice before dying) so they actually feel like real characters as opposed to names that exist to make you... more>> feel how many people like MC.

In talking about the MC he's actually insane. He even has a skill that shows you just how insane he is because it's important to remember how mentally unstable someone is with a numeric value, despite the fact that he only ever acts mentally unstable in the presence of certain people who set him off. He also has the ability to charm and brainwash many different kinds of creatures passively through his abilities so that only the most powerful of each kind can mildly resist him. He does all of this while he's so mentally unstable that he's actually unaware he's brainwashing and mentally controlling everyone around him so that he can be praised by everyone because he's actually just a child who, like every other isekai/reincarnated protagonist, seems to become more intelligent at will whenever the author needs it to happen for plot reasons. Did I mention all the various gods who bow their heads in reverence of him because he's just that special and powerful that a large cluster of gods need to be afraid of a mortal, and he unconsciously threatens all of them just because one of them tried telling him how ridiculous and childish he is.

If you like really edgy stories where allies and enemies are clearly defined, the MC always has some nonsensical way out of any situation, and an entire nation of people are basically his s*aves without being clearly defined as s*aves with a harem the size of a football team filled with girls and women of every shape, size, age, and race then this might be for you. If you're not into self-insert/fantasy fulfillment stories then you probably won't like this. <<less

Death Mage as a story is backed up by its plentiful world building and characters that brought life to what could've been a common web novel. Our protagonist Hiroto, who later becomes Vandeliu, suffers from a sufficiently realistic abusive childhood who dies on a school trip along with 100 others. They get reincarnated by one of the many gods to appear in this story and is extremely unlucky when he his place got taken by another under the same name. And subsequently suffers from this God as his reincarnated life... more>> ends in suffering from his own classmates, which leads to a revenge sake plea to the same God as he reincarnates again in to the world that will feature predominantly in the story.

Firsty, despite appearances this story isn't a revenge seeking plot. But one that gets amplified by the occasional revenge seeking intention, Vandeliu prime motive is to resurrect his dead mother which indeed does happen and at a time where another plot focused element is happening.

Op main character is op and despite that in this story his methods don't always work and he's an unlucky fellow to begin with. The story doesn't hide this fact and is almost upfront about, in a way it's refreshing as the story works with it as an element that it doesn't forget as situations are always escalating and consequences do happen. His powers are explained and his methods for coming up with solutions with his powers make sense which his prior life.

Gods act the way they do much like the Greek pantheon, and self- fullfiment prophecy. The story doesn't let go of the fact that Gods, are not human, they do not understand desires, emotions, and life, the same way. The story hammers in that Gods, are not human.

Anyway, outside of making this way longer than anyone is going to read. Death Mage is well deserved to have some time to check it out with a great translation and formatting and has side stories that add to the characters and worlds that break up the story as it goes on. With minor time skips that feel natural to just fly bye. <<less

Edit: I see a lot of reviews that seem to be based on the beginning and some that could be described with "wait a minute, this story isn't dark at all!" and that there isn't much depth in character relationships or the action. It's pretty much all true.

I avoided this novel for a while because it seemed to be depressing, but it's not at all. Although there's tragedy and that kind of thing, there is always hope and fun times to be had. Spoiler example: ... more>>
Spoiler

There are some secondary characters that were r*ped by monsters before the MC saves them, but instead of losing hope MC accompanies them through the pregnancy and because of MC's special abilities, the monster babies are born more human-like and grow up to be friendly characters that are civilized and never r*pe anyone.

[collapse]
Anyway, I recommend it very much, my main dislike is that translation speed dropped around c170 and I want to read more.

Now, to talk about things I dislike in the novel:
The beginning, it's really frustrating. It just seems to be bad things happening to MC so that he can start his third life with the mindset the author wants or something. The frustrating feeling only goes away when MC starts travelling, if the author didn't write well I might have dropped this novel early on.
Rape, what's the deal with japanese and r*pe? I'm not saying the medieval fantasy world shouldn't have r*pe at all, but it definitely didn't need so much emphasis so that some monsters have r*pe as their main form of reproduction. I can only be happy that important characters don't get r*ped.
Harem, it's not that bad in this novel because there is a reason it happens, but this problem goes together with the next:
Too many characters, I love them all but I hate forgetting them. Author should have made their names more iconic or something, what bothers me the most is that a character named Orkus is not a orc, excuse me what the f**k.
Gods, they don't act god-like at all. They can't even send messages to people properly, it stinks of author wanting there to be gods but not realizing that if gods had too much freedom it would get in the way of the story.
Lastly, fights. This novel is good in this issue because it doesn't waste too much time pretending the fights are super interesting (like cultivation novels do), it focuses on the actually interesting parts of fights so I'm just nitpicking, here we go: SKILL-BASED COMBAT IS REALLY BORING. Too many authors seem to have been brainwashed by JRPGs and MMORPGs and forget how boring the fights in those games would be if you tried to write them down. I recommend reading the prologue (just the prologue) of "The Amber Sword" if you completely forgot how a fight should be like, where MC and his enemy are and how far they can reach is the basic of the basics, every attack that connects properly should be substantially effective, grinding away at a enemy's health bar is only exciting in videogames (I'm speaking in absolutes but it's just to make myself clear, for example: grinding the enemy's hp can be exciting in a novel too but it's just much harder to make it so).

Thanks for reading my ramblings. <<less

  2. Too much unintended spoiler. Example

  1. Talosheim will be always strong till the end and not destroyed or moving again
  2. As almost all item is make by van, so it means can will be survive till the end without difficulty

I wish I can give 5 star, but this 2 point hurt me so much : ((

Well overall this is good novel that enjoyable to read. Easy to disgest and not too much complicated. Not too OP and developing in good way. <<less

Really good so far. MC isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. The strength gap between adventures and monsters is explained really well even if the MC can overcome these gaps in strength.

This novel showed a lot of promise. And, how shoudl I put it... While there a lot of 'Isekai' novels, I really don't know of many good ones.

With a rather interesting premise in the familiar 'isekai' setting, it started great. Add in the fact the world was taken seriously (mostly) and it was at least a half serious novel and I should have been charmed here.

There are however many, many problems. The fact I give it a 3/5 considering the ridiculous numbers of flaw really shows that it also has... more>> a lot of qualities.

I think there are a lot of interesting characters. The world is interesting and developed enough. The global plot direction is decent enough. However, it sometimes makes little sense.

Spoiler

I never understood why Vandalieu tried to become an adventurer and a nobleman. Funnily enough, even others characters have remarked to him how s*upid his objective was (in more respectful terms though).

As for the whole revenge plot that a lot of people have problems about. Well, yes, revenge is strange in this novel, in many ways. The one point that disturbed me the most was

Spoiler

how much he hated Heinz. That's a fine example of 'hating the gun but not hating the one who fired it'.

In the end, sometimes he forgives, sometimes not. It's impossible to predict whether he will forgives someone or not - it totally depends on the author mood and whether if he needs a new forced antagonist for the arc or not.

Also, beware. A lot of food related stuff will happen in the novel. I repeat, A LOT. What is especially strange is :

Spoiler

Of course, on Lambda (a different worlds), japanese ingredients (which are even 'rare' on earth) can be found everywhere.

Of course, japanese cuisine is the supreme one, and is liked by all species existing in all worlds. Be it humans, elves, goblins or even undead!

Of course, nothing is more important than recreating japanese cuisine in another world and all ressource and energy should go into that direction.

And of course, regardless of which world (earth, origin or lambda), the supreme cuisine will be present.

I mean, it's funny that he learnt most of japanese food production method on Origin, only to reproduce them on Lambda.

[collapse]

Well, there are many others problems, but I think I touched on the most important ones.

... Oh wait, there is just a tiny little thing. It's not much of a flaw than a complaint about how little this pretty important detail is almost never mentioned by anyone.

Spoiler

I mean, the MC is basically evil incarnate. He is the kind of guy to kill you and then brainwash your spirit into loving him. Most people surrounding the MC are mind-controlled into worshipping/loving him and that fact is far too easily dismissed in the novel. Add in that he is constantly f*ck*ng up the reincarnation system and risking the destruction of many worlds (thankfully the main 'antagonist' of the novel is here to prevent the MC from accidentally destroying all these worlds) and that he has overall the mentality of a brat, I can't blame some of his enemies thinking the world - nah, the multiverse - would be a much better and safer place without him.

This novel is one of the rare ones that executed isekai (reincarnation) very good. I mean beside some occasional redundant tropes and cliches and filler chapters this novel did almost everything great.

First of all, I don't agree with the people who said that MC is a usual revenge isekai protagonist since they only read about 10-20 chapters of the story so you can't really take their word based of that. While yes, he does have mu*derous thoughts to the people that tortured him mentally and physically, he doesn't act rashly... more>> like a ret*rd and tries to mu*der everyone on a rampage and expect plot armor to save him (that's what all those negative reviewers were probably hoping for), but he also doesn't try to forgive them or befriend them. I would say he is indifferent to most of them and tries to stay level-headed the best he can in most situations. (beside the main aggressors which still want to harm him and his people). Also, I find his personality and thought process pretty unique since he has his own set of rules and morals and doesn't give a sh*t about peoples judgment of him that have a different set of morals and traditions which don't agree with his. Though the best thing I find about his personality is that it's CONSISTENT. What I mean by that, is that while his character does grow, it doesn't suddenly and randomly change to according to situations and make him have a moral high-ground. It's extremely rare to find an MC that is consistent with his character be it benevolent, malevolent or indifferent since they usually change when authors need them to, due to plot convenience (and that applies to all eastern novels - CN, KR and JP).

The other thing that is very interesting is the world building. It is very diverse and complex and props to author for making it stick together for so long. Beside the myriad races present in the novel which all have different characteristics and are unique in their own way, he also executed the game part of the novel very well. There were maybe only some minor flaws I found throughout the 170 chapters of the novel in the game system of the world (skills, abilities, weapons, guilds, leveling, stat, special techniques...). I hope this will continue till the end since it's one of the major elements that attracted me to read this novel. Also, I forgot to mention the lore of everything (characters, races, jobs, skill, weapons...) that author takes time to write is also very appreciated since it adds even more diversity and complexity to the novel which makes it even more interesting to read.

The side characters... well... I have mixed feelings about this part. They are developed very well, you can see that author put much of his attention on developing their personalities, emotions, backstories and goals. But the problem is that there are just TOO MUCH of them. I mean, there are at least 20-30+ characters that appear frequently (every other chapter) but I just forget what their role is or mix them up with some other character and that's not to mention other side characters that appear less often...

I can safely recommend this novel to people that want to relax and read an interesting and consistent story (both plot and MC vise). <<less
