Noble’s daughter Mary Albert, in the middle of the school opening ceremony, remembers that this world was an otome game she played in her previous life, and she turns out to be a character from that game. The Mary inside the game was a villain, harassing and interfering with the heroine, and was met with destruction at the end – the so called ‘villainous girl’s downfall route’. And so the obvious reaction is ‘This isn’t a joke!’ and carefully avoids the destruction end…… or not!

Instead she trudges headlong towards the destruction end!

“The one who will have the last laugh, will be me!”

Involving her attendant, Addie, the deadline is one year! Will she obtain the same result as the one depicted in the game!?

“I will embrace my destruction flag head on! Ohohoho!”

I've read this till the end of the second volume, and I have to say this story never disappointed me. (which is awesome, cause I'm a very picky reader)

You'll have lots of fun seeing an MC that chases her bad end only to fail and comes out as tsundere xD

Spoiler

It gets even more awesome when, in the middle of volume 1, it is revealed that the MC is actually really smart and have a really valid reason for wanting her downfall.

It has been mentioned on earlier chapter that the Albert House is powerful, second to the Royal Family powerful. Thus if it goes on like that, MC is afraid that the Royal Family will tr*sh the Albert House cause they're afraid/don't want to be overthrown.

Thus the MC, in her martyr-style way, decide to walk on her downfall route simply to reduce Albert House' power so that Albert House won't invoke the Royal Family's anger.

Awesome! 10/10!

And in the end of volume 1... go read the story to find out :9 #tehe

If you love Bakarina (Destruction Flag) or Bakamille (Otaburi), you'll love this one too xD <<less

This story is so mother******* hilarious, the servant is awesome and the girl is so awesome and though there is not any love development with the MC the SC has alot of love developed. The MC is trying to get to the good end of the game where she loses but her previous life influences all effect her behaviour and she does not have any of the personality the person she is in the otome game does, MC rides a bike to school because its much faster than taking... more>> a horse carriage even though the events of the game require her to take a horse carriage. She is rich girl who knows how to use money and buy the extreme necessitates she can but nothing of luxury.

funny characters

good characters

no docuhebags that you see in regular shojos

and great reason for doing what she wants

The synopsis does no justice to this novel. You might think "eeh the theme is so template" but even the heroine think it so. ? When she realized she's heading to her destruction flag, she proudly embrace that flag and even willingly harass the target..... though sadly the heroine is a boke, so all she did have the opposite effect.

In conclusion, this is the story of the main villainess who tries to do her best as a villain, but fail miserably because she's too kind. Assisted by her ungrateful teasing... more>> butler whose main job is to act as tsukkomi for his master, she'll strives to do her best....... and fail lol~ <<less

This is another hilarious novel! Mary seems more like a tsundere best friend than a villain! It's so cute how she tries so hard, but she's just really a nice person to begin with, so the point is moot lol. I ship her with her servant Addie! They're like Team Rocket in a way. They have the kind of relationship that works in gag manga (^O^) /

It's very good, although I would say this isn't really a transmigration/rebirth novel. The novel starts almost directly before the original game protagonist comes to the school rather than the typical age 1. It seems Mary was quirky/levelheaded from the start and then gets hit with the knowledge that in another dimension/life, she's a video game character.

Characterization-wise, Mary is quirky but loveable and her slapstick interactions with Addie, her butler, are a joy to read! She doesn't fall into "all loving saint like protagonist" territory, and her bumbling actions are hilarious. Addie is just as enjoyable, jokingly disrespecting his master while also indulging her whims. The original protagonist is quite cute and Mary's attempts at harassment fall short quite hilariously and only serve to bind the protagonist to Mary more.

On the subject of love interests, that plot line ends pretty quickly as they get coupled off immediately. There's no love triangles, no other options, the pairings are pretty much set from the beginning. The only wooing that really happens is mostly Mary inadvertently seducing the protagonist into friendship. There's no political intrigue, revenge, diabolical plans, etc. It's mostly just a very fun story of Mary trying to throw herself into a destruction end but from the beginning you can tell there's no real way that would happen.

If you're curious as to what the pairings are:

Spoiler

Addie and Mary are pretty much together from the beginning, even though they're not official until later on. The protagonist is also coupled off with the prince character from the get go.

[collapse]

overall, rather than a "died and reincarnated" its a "realized in another life they were a game" novel. There's no lamination of an old life, no true and sudden change in personality, the only "past life" knowledge she ever really gets/laminates on is stuff that happns in-game or was game related (aka merch from the game). It's a good fluffy novel that doesn't try to pull any surprises, and makes an enjoyable read.

My reviews aren't spoiler-explicit, but as the nature of reviews tends to dictate, it isn't spoiler-free either. It's best if you skim through if you haven't caught up with the translations or don't mind glimpsing into the story. This review will be updated if needed.

A fast-paced and short but sweet story of yet another villainous-noble girl. I find myself smiling throughout the chapters and smirking at the surprisingly not-annoying dense reactions of our main character. Mary, Addie, and the heroine and capturable character (s? We have yet to come across... more>> more) are all very likable, and there are far more hilarious moments than there are cringeworthy ones. Though they aren't as deep as I hoped they'd be, it's the nature of this story so I honestly can't complain.

All in all, if you like likable tsunderes (and I'm not talking about the type to punch or badmouth a character for the s*upidest reasons) and want to have a light-hearted short read, then this is for you. Due to my personal preferences for plot, politics, and three-dimensional characters, I can't rate this as high as I'd like but I truly did enjoy this. <<less

All the great reviews convinced me to read the story, but when I started, it didn't live up to expectations. the translation is okay, but could use a beta-reader here and there, and I dislike the fact that there are often several lines of dialogue and no indications on who is saying what.

Another thing I'd like to mention is that the summary really got me interested. I have only ever seen 'reborn into a villainess' stories where the MC tries to avoid the fate of the villainess. I found it... more>> interesting that this story would be different, except... there's no logic behind the decision? She decides, for no reason at all, to play the role of the villain and to seek her own destruction.

I wasn't expecting a particularly compelling reason, but I would have wanted something better than no reason at all. Maybe the MC lived her first life being overly nice to everyone and that led to her death, so in this second life she wants to be as mean as she can and take advantage of life. THAT sort of reason would be really good. Instead, she just announces she'll play the villain, without giving much of a reason as to why.

It would be so easy to just come up with a basic reason like the one I just came up with in the preceding paragraph, so that makes it even more confusing that the author wouldn't have done so.

I read the first three chapters before giving up. It didn't feel like much was happening. It's not that the pace is slow, it's just that there is not much content per chapter, and I'm pretty sure this is the kind of story where something important only happens ten chapters in. Honestly, I think it would have worked best if each post of the translator contained between 3 and 5 chapters, so there's more content per post.

I usually read between one and three chapters of a new story before making my decision, and while this story wasn't terrible enough to make me give up as soon as the first chapter, by the third I was feeling rather bored, only interested because of the cool premise and not because of the execution/story itself.

90% of the reasons I stopped reading are due to the author, not the translator. The translator did an overall good job (and I'm only talking about the first translator, MushroomPrincess, because I haven't read later translations), though some editing would be great, as well as an indication as to who is saying what in the dialogue, instead of long conversations without any hints as to who is saying which line. <<less

A funny and sweet romance story, which have one or two particular differences with it's peers that this is not a reverse harem and the MC is immediately disclosing her past memories to someone! Instead of working alone in the dark like other MCs, she's working with her aide.

The author's creating characters with lovely personalities, Mary and Addie's banter is fun to read, Alicia's naivety and unpredictability is funny and cute, and Patrick's chill way of handling things are pretty much cool.

Mostly lighthearted comedy, but there's some dramatic moments inbetween.... more>> Well, lighthearted as it is, it feels like a fairy tale for kids. Which is enjoyable for light read. <<less

I love the story! With all of reincarnated person always keep their secret and trying to avoid the bad end, she's rushing toward bad end and failed beautifully. It's basically about a girl trying her best to become a villain but turn to a tsundere MC.

The translation is eye-gougingly bad. Like, bad enough that it’s hard to even evaluate whether the story itself is any good, that kind of bad.

I am looking at the other reviews and wondering if we read the same things ? Maybe they are all literate in Japanese and read the source ? I don't know.

The concept of the story is pretty good. The villainess/Mary is taking on the role of the villainess as a martyr for reasons that are well explained in story. I can't say I agreed with them, but they are not insulting or completely unbelievable. The reviews that say otherwise are just wrong.

The characters are above average but I can't give... more>> them a great rating. Mary is denser than Osmium. If you could shoot her out of a cannon she could defeat the best tank armor in the world she is that dense. Her sidekick is equally dense. Even so they are both fun and seeing as it is comedy they do work together. Alicia/Alice well she's a little harder to deal with and I think she must have a masochistic streak a mile wide.

For the most part, the plot is fun as well. Things move along, there isn't much in the way of padding (Just why do Japanese authors seem to think their works are evaluated by the weight ? (Pagecount)). The story has places it's going, it gives you the information you need to play along at appropriate points and in a believable way. Good marks for that.

What brings down the story ?

Oh man the writing style and the translations. Journey to the unknown managed a pretty good job of producing readable text. Mushroom Princess and Asian Hobbyist however were really really rough. It was bad enough that I stopped after Asian Hobbyist took the project back from Journey.

Combine a poor translation with a writing style that made it very hard to follow who was doing what, and it was just a very difficult read. If this had a less cryptic writing style I would give it a full 5 stars but it is what it is. <<less

Came from the manga adaption, stayed for the characters and spoilers. Just the quirky characters, fun banter, and spoilers.

In terms of the actual story, I found it sas hard to get into or even understand because the translations were...... really not the best, imo.

They get better but Regardless! Thank you for your hard work, Mushroom!

Hilarious read.

Highly enjoyable!

There are many translated japanese Shoujo Otome-themed novels in Novel Update, but this one is definitely among the top ones~

Spoiler

MC: Sensible softie and a girl with strong personality! Also, she's totally ME if I ever transmigated into otome game as a rich daughter YOLO... correction: YOLT!

Remember Reika? She's totally Reika but with no effort spent to maintain any public facade (EMBRACE YOUR MODERN SOUL AND LIVE FREELY, DO NOT CONFORM TO UNWANTED AND IRRATIONAL STEREOTYPES LOL) because unlike our beloved Rococo Queen, Mary is baddass face-slapper with platinum spine, and stronk enough to face her opponents head on~

Remember Bakarina? Not as ret*rded as adorable Bakarina, but Mary is better in my book because she has enough brain to make sound decisions... Or not LOL. Her antics along with her forever loyal sidekick Addie are f-- hilarious!!!

Whereas other otome MCs work hard to stay alive, Mary Albert strives hard to meet her Bad End as The Villain! WHAT A PITY SHE'S TOTALLY NOT A VILLAIN MATERIAL HA HA HA HA

Her relationships with The Heroine reminds me of the camaraderie between Reika and Wakaba! Pfft Mary! Pretty sure Bad End is sealed off forever for you, The Heroine totally In BFF Love with you~ Furthermore, if she becomes Queen in the future, I see only easy and wonderful future for you HA HA HA!

Love Interest: Addie, highly-capable handsome sidekick/butler with apparent crush for his Mary-sama. Sassy and cheeky, threatening him with Master Albert is the only way for Mary to make him bow.

My question for Addie: "What the hell is actually hidden under your furnitures?!! P*beep*N?! Adult mags?? Mary's photobooks?!"

Heroine & Patrick: "May Your Love Be Blessed Until Death And Beyond~"

Also, Patrick the Prick XD What a great friend you are HA HA HA HA

Basically this story is about a person in another world who gets hit with a memory that she is the villain and the world is a game. Two chapters in I have no idea why she decides to play her part, seems to be "Because I can"- of course, the strange translation (which initially seems competent with the translator translating difficult words well) and poor editing (strange archaic and unused word choices, combined with seemingly random letters and the incorrect words dotted here and tehre) make it difficult to be... more>> aware of what's going on all the time.

There is no description of the surrounding environment, uniforms, the descriptions of the characters is very vague.

Got tired of it real fast and dropped it after the second chapter. Complete waste of time. <<less

Mary is absolutely adorable in the way she tries to become a villainess girl but comes off as helpful instead. I feel that Addie may the only one for her and her cuteness!

The story is simple but something easy to read without overly complex plots to make it seem interesting. Just a very determined girl trying her best to get towards the destructive end she wants. Characters would usually try and break any flags that appear but she welcomes them with open arms. ^-^; I really do enjoy reading this... more>> novel and would recommend it to anyone who wants to give it a try. <<less

Love this story so much. It’s a fun, light hearted read, full of funny scenes between Mary and Albert. It’s one of my most favorite novels out there and I really hope that it continues being translated. Although the beginning is full of fluff, near the middle (I presume), the story starts to get more serious, where we really dive into the reasons of why Mary decided to become a villainess. In conclcusion, it’s a really amazing story. 10/10 would read again.

Well, I totally fell in love with this novel at first sight.

In truth, my first experience with Mary and her story was in the Manga, and since it makes me laugh so much I decided to read the novel.

The fact is. This novel isn't perfect at all but have a lot of good points. One of them is certainly Mary's personality and her interactions with Addy.

Spoiler

I liked the fact that Mary accepted her reincarnation in the very start, she is more intelligent than you think and also a determined MC.

[collapse]

Another really good point is: there are love development of another couple and not just with the MC. I'm not saying more than this but expect a sweet atmosphere with funny events.

I can say other good points but they are all spoilers so...

By the way, the story isn't perfect. I would have liked to now more about the background of the MC family.

Spoiler

I mean, Mary's father appears in the ball event, and when Alice is about to discover that she is the lost princess. Her mother appears just in the 'lost princess' thing too, and before the last chapters of the first volume I didn't have no idea that Mary have two elder brothers

[collapse]

The information we have about the kingdom is less than what I expected too. The novel don't work much on the scenery description. For a point of view it's good because we can imagine as much as we can, thought.

What I'm trying to say is that the story have it's own problems but you should give it a try because in the end I never got desapointed.

Spoiler

In truth I was really impressed by the fact that the Heroine must have work in aspects like self confidence in order to get a 'happy end'

Well, I expect this review were useful to you. ?
