Wen Yue transmigrated into the role of a cannon fodder female supporting character in a story set in a period novel.

The original owner and the female lead lived similarly under someone else’s roof. The female lead dared to resist, eventually leaving the village to become successful in the big city. The original owner, however, was timid and lacked courage, marrying a lazy village gangster in place of her cousin. She despised him and blamed everyone for her fate, ultimately dying from depression.

When Wen Yue transmigrated, it was already after the marriage. She opened her eyes to see her gangster husband frowning, looking grim, and bluntly stating:

“We didn’t register our marriage. You can go home anytime. I won’t stop you.”

But how could she? If she went back home, her cousin’s family would likely torment her to death. Wen Yue calmly considered her situation as she eyed her tall, handsome, broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted, long-legged husband: she could make do with this life. She thought to herself, maybe her husband could be reformed.

Zhou Yao followed his grandmother’s last wish and got a wife, only to regret it the day after the wedding. The young wife was constantly weeping, looking as if she had suffered some great grievance. Just talking to her caused her to faint.

Zhou Yao: …Just send her back.

However, after waking up, the young wife seemed like a different person. She stopped crying and followed him around with a cheerful smile.

When he carried water back, she praised him, “You’re so amazing, unlike me. I can’t even lift the water.” When he washed dishes and clothes, she looked at him with starry eyes, saying, “You wash everything so cleanly. You can even wring out such heavy clothes. You’re too incredible!” When he dealt with her troublesome cousin’s family, she looked at him with complete dependence, saying, “What would I do without you?”

Zhou Yao, flattered and invigorated, not only took over all the chores but also handed over his savings from the past few years to his young wife, feeling it wasn’t enough and set out to make more money. He vowed to ensure his wife lived a good life!

This was a short read, but it was good. In comparison to other novels, the FMC didn't get transmigrated and then start doing crazy business with her knowledge of the future. Although she does do business, they were reasonable and realistic in her products. Plus she knew she didn't have that much knowledge, so a lot of the logistics fell on the ogFMC and the ML.

Instead the one who did the bulk of the business venture were the ML and thankfully because a majority of the novel was following the... more>> FMC, we didn't get too much detail on it. We just know he sells stuff and is RICH.

FMC and ML's relationship was actually very realistically paced. Even though they were married, it doesn't really feel like that right away. It definitely follows the traditional, first meeting, getting to know each other, start liking each other, dating, then marriage phases. I am a little sad we don't get too much of the "marriage" phase, though. Throughout the entire novel, they're honestly stuck in the beginning stages : (

Overall, the reason why this is higher on my rating scale is because everything that happened made sense and even if something didn't, it wasn't something huge. There weren't any noticeably huge plot holes and if you were to read this with your brain turned off, it'd be an enjoyable quick read. <<less

To help (a lil bit) with the rating, I'd give this 5 stars, although I think it's a 4.5/5 stars at most.

A very light read, short, but fortunately the author wrote this quite decently but the last chapters toward the ending are kinda rushed. I wanna read more of the ML & FL stories, but suddenly she's pregnant have a daughter, and that's it.

What I like is the experience hahaha I love reading this kind of s*upid-cheesy-lines of love expressions from the ML hahah, sorry but idk how but his... more>> personality really suits my taste 😂 <<less

This is a very easy cookie to chew, but it's just one cookie (too short).

This is a glossed over version, not really deep, so don't expect anything profound from this novel. At times, especially at the ending when time skips began to show up, I could only think - so, author you don't even bother anymore? How things changed quickly without much explanation is what you're left with. I'm surprised this novel is on NU even, it's nothing remarkable to be honest, indeed it's short and easy, but leaves you... more>> with nothing except "been there, done that".

Wen Yue saves a girl and lands into a novel (cliche, I know), now she's married to Zhou Yao who has an unfriendly look towards her. He has a tough attitude, but he's actually not unreasonable, so ML in this story is quite likable. He has few initial irritating remarks that poured out in the one and only argument, but in general he was quite fine. Having no place to go or turn to for Wen Yue it is actually a good thing to be married and be protected.

I actually was not against the fact that Wen Yue was a homebody in the previous life, as she explains, so she has homely hobbies and does not like to go out, she mostly doesn't like to contact people and be in conflict, so she confesses that without Zhou Yao she would likely not survive. It's not like a heroine who knows everything and has amazing business acumen, it's cool to watch those success stories, but it's not bad to see some real people. The true heroine is close to Wen Yue though. No, literally, they're friends. Thus Wen Yue helped the heroine escape some of the tragic plots in the novel that "shaped her as a person".

Thus she logically decides to have a good life with Zhou Yao, even if they're more of a co-habitants for most of the story (but Zhou Yao is pretty respectful and of course his mind was not at it at first, which is understandable).

In the end she finds out that Zhou Yao's reputation is nothing more but a trick from his envious relatives, in general he has a tough mouth but a soft heart and helps his two friends who had not the best fate in this village.

Actually Zhou Yao is pretty handy and he saw opportunities outside, thus in the eyes of farmers he was idle, because he didn't farm, but he actually did business where everyone couldn't see. In the end due to his growing "inferiority", but actually he didn't want to shame Wen Yue, he decided to go to a bigger city and start business (this is more to the end of the novel). A good chunk of the novel is just daily interactions, some cooking, Zhou Yao warming up to Wen Yue, their interactions with people who are friends, several gossip situations with "original villains" and moving out because of Wen Yue's studies and taking everyone with them, including the OG heroine, her sister, Zhou Yao's friends and their relatives. And the novel wraps up really fast, with several time skips, which are just... This is where I had a little complaint, because FMC mentions that Zhou Yao changed after few months and finally "grew up" from irritable youth to a mature man, but honestly I didn't feel the significance of it since author glossed over a lot of things.

Now. I'm not trying to comment and say this thing is the copy of other novels (obviously it is though, those tropes and situations are nothing new), but it reminded me of the novel I read "Transmigrated as the Ex-Wife of the Villain Who Dotes on His Daughter" which is way longer and more complicated with having more interpersonal relationships, changes through time, changes of character and character growth. I say reminded only because MMC in this ex-wife novel also has few friends, also has a scene where he loses his temper despite the consequences, he also takes his two friends to fly with him outside when doing business. Of course it has more drama etc. So while I was reading I just felt it's too short and shallow. But if you prefer such novels then go ahead and read it.

My only real complaint would be... why would author make her so mysophobic and accentuate as if everyone else is sloppy? Like not washing hands, not wiping dust, not sweeping floor etc. As if before her coming everyone is a dirty unwashed person. With her they don't preserve water or firewood. And it also does not glue up, people are said to wash and clean like by the river, but then she mentions that they don't wash themselves (like her uncle who washes once a weak). I mean period novel or not, I kinda don't believe it a bit?

Anyway yeah, I think I've said what I wanted to mention.

Happy reading. <<less

simple story. MC is a good, cute, kind but firm protag, she has her talents that is useful but nothing too drastic or dramatic happens. Only simple slice of life kind of plot, we only see a growth to the ML and the original female lead from the novel MC transmigrated to. MC is just a spectator that is well protected by her ML and Best friend.

the story's plot is meatless and the spoiling of the wife is mediocre at best.

3.5 but rounded up because I liked it.

An okay read that's very light. The ending was also a bit abrupt but otherwise it's a fairly decent story.

The MC is Wen Yue, a very calm and unassuming transmigrator. She is probably the most chill transmigrator I have ever read. Very accepting of her new reality she immediately decides that she is very okay with having an instant husband. While there was a moment that felt like there might be conflict, it did not last very long.

The ML is Zhou Yao, the... more>> titular "thug". He's not actually all that thug-like, just has a small temper and a bad reputation. At first he dislikes the MC because of the original but then he quickly shifts into slight yandere mode (as it's more about him worrying she'll leave him).

There isn't a lot of romance in the novel. While we see the relationship grow, it's never heavily detailed. They don't even consummate their relationship until the extra story.

There aren't any major conflicts as everything seems to work in the MC's favor despite her passive effect on the story.

The ending, however was like a suddenly appearing wall while driving down a highway at full speed. We do get resolutions in the extra stories but it feels like the writer was told to wrap up earlier than what they intended.

Overall, it's a decent read but not one I can see myself rereading. <<less

Unlike other transmigrated FL where they were living mediocre life but once they transmigrated suddenly became omnipotent has business acumen became tycoon building business empire. This FL is more realistic (something most people can relate to) she has no ambition as long as she can live comfortably she didn’t need to become rich. She does end up doing some business but shes more of a follower leaving most of the complicated dealing to original FL.

The Original FL is not a villian for a change 😆

Since the story is short don’t... more>> expect any depth on the plot <<less

It’s a cute short optimistic story. FL is quite mellow and was a salted fish in her og life. But ML and second FL spoil and protect her quite a bit.
