Yu Qingze transmigrated to a world, where there are no women, only gers and men. He was rescued by a ger no one wants to marry because he couldn’t speak, has a scarred face, and a dull cinnabar mole between his brows indicating low fertility.

Yu Qingze, who has tasted the warmth of human affection in his previous life, did not dislike the other’s flaws at all: ancient people without vision, my wife is kind-hearted, ingenious, capable, and virtuous. There will be times when you will envy him in the future!

Relying on his professional cooking skills, Yu Qingze would make money, raise a family, have a few babies, and protect the people who he loves and who love himself. This is the most important reason for his rebirth.

Super adorable! The dynamics between the main characters are so harmonious. Even with the other figures, they also maintain such a good relationship (minus those 'villains' and other bad characters). Overall, the story is warm, definitely a light slice-of-life story, and the main focus of the plot is somewhat more on the cooking-related topic but also with other things going on in between people in the countryside. The pace is slow but not boring, and the romance build-up also reaches its peak with baby steps, but it was so cute.... more>> The relationship between leads is so sweet I don't mind the slow burn. The translators are also doing such a great job in translating the whole series; they also put the image of each character and food inside the story.

I wish the extra story would tell the main character's life instead of the other characters (the one that I wasn't really interested in). <<less

Please translate this to the end, I'm already so invested!

I love simple transmigration stories like these, where it's just about improving the lives of the people around them.

Thank you to the translator for their awesome work! :)

This story has not much drama, and the characters although not smooth but has a decent life. It's your day to day life working hard, getting troubles from competitors/jealous people, getting better and become a sort of "winner in life".

MC actually has it easy in the connection department. It goes along with the phrase the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. He basically wins (almost) everyone through his cooking. Even winning his first ally to win ML easily. Lol.

The climax/drama prob when erdan's in trouble. That's the... more>> top crisis the couple ever had but it got solved fast and then I guess HE.

In short, it's a decent story, and I had fun, hence I gave a 4.5/5 <<less

I get a good feeling so far.

I like that the shou is vunerable but not fragile and that he has a lovely family setting/atmosphere.

The gong also isn't overbearing or arrogant and he's proactive about contributing without being stubborn.

This looks like a nice fluff story without too much dog-blood.

It was okay, really enjoyable until about chapter 90, then the author started to meander and brought out random characters. Author forgets about certain story lines or just vaguely addresses them later. Felt like the author was trying to shove too much into the story with no real plan of how it should flow.

Spoiler

the ML's voice isn't addressed or cured until the last half of the last chapter of the main text. Then he is miraculously cured through the power of acupuncture. He didn't even get pregnant until like 15 chapters until the end. ML's grandpa and brother are mostly forgotten about in the later half

[collapse]

Most of the story is about the MC and his Gary Stu cooking. I like op MC so this wasn't an issue for me, but I know it is for others. He invents farming equipment and other items but it's quickly forgotten about and only addressed 1 or 2 times later. Most of the influencial families in the MCs town are big foodies and also happen to be good powerful people. MC of course wins them over through their stomach. He is only successful with their backing, which was disappointing, not a fan of how the author set it up.

ML is a big part of the story to begin with and has a strong personality, but then the 2nd half of the novel he is just MC's accessory. I was disappointed, such a strong ML was downgraded by the author.

I MTL'd from chapter 19 on. Easy to MTL, not many parts were too confusing. Translation was ok, not many notes and some minor errors. I wasn't a big fan of the translator begging for 5 star reviews though, left a bad taste for me. Have to remember everyone has different tastes and that's ok. <<less

The story is more of a slice of life of a chef in countryside so there's not much tension here, and the hurdle is very simple (But their past r not, so this is more like a healing and slice of life story).

If u'r looking for excitement then u'r in the wrong web page. Still this is written well!💕 I like the story and characters! (No brain dead main chara, though there are some really unreasonable ones). Though the story seems simple, there's a depth to it. The side chara... more>> are also lovable and I find myself smiling in their love development <<less

Enjoying the novel so far. A light-hearted and relaxing story of the ancient times, with a few negative elements to add some spice to the story. And talking about spices, my food buds have been over stimulated just by reading the various food recipes. Thanks to the translator for attaching the photos of the cuisines which made me salivate even further!

To me this story is like a tasty soup with cilantro (I hate cilantro). I like the slice of life/relaxed transmigration aspect, the food p*rn, the characters overall.

However, I end up skipping the “romantic” moments because there’s something about the main ship that irks me. Their courtship is like that of MC trying to get closer to a shy animal (ML has low self esteem) which I’m sure some readers enjoy but it’s personally not my cup of tea? So yeah. Cilantro. Nothing wrong with it per se but I’m... more>> put off all the same.

4/5 because again, I still like the other parts of the story, will continue to read until I feel the romance takes too much space. <<less

I think this story is kinda mediocre. I even feel that the MC, Yu Qingze, is a weak character. Even though he's from the future, It seems like he's only good at cooking or being a chef. I'm especially disappointed with him on a later chapters especially when the child was kidnapped. It seems like he does not know how to handle things. To think he's from the future, he should have done better. Also, he should have encourage ML, Chang Le, how to speak a little bit later on... more>> and have a doctor at his throat, since Chang Le's illness was mostly due to mental trauma. As person from the future, He should know that it takes time to over come such trauma and it needs practice. But he just let it be until the end, when in fact in earlier chapters he said he would ask a doctor since ML was still able to speak. It seems it was more important for him to put up his business. And to think it was even the friend who asked the doctor to check Chang Le. Or maybe the author just forgot about it and inserted it at the last chapter.

Overall, I feel that the story was written by a juvenile. I got bored in the middle but still tried to finish the novel. <<less

Got super bored around chp 99... maybe I'll finish it one day if I have nothing else to read.

Usually I really like chef/cooking/slice-of-life novels, however, the MC in this one's "golden finger" is a bit too intense. Legit the author has him creating things like

Spoiler

shuttlecocks and baby carriages... I don't deny that it makes sense for him to bring "modern" ideas and mechanics, but it's a little too easy for this guy to just suddenly draw up plans for agriculture or other machines. And the worst part is, the author clearly didn't base the story on any historical research, because the MC just miraculously gets access to tons of different spices and materials. And yet for some reason, in this "advanced yet ancient" society, they don't have carts??? And MC had to be the one to invent them???

The shuttlec*ck (a stuffed feather toy that kids play with) was the straw that broke the camel's back, the fact that MC literally had to re-invent ancient toys (because apparently, "ancient" society kids didn't have toys) was just so ridiculous and filler.

[collapse]

If the story just stuck to MC being a genius chef, suspension of disbelief would've lasted longer than having the MC also "invent" every other modern tool to exist from wheelbarrows to grain sifters to bunk beds...

Another ridiculous thing was that the author had MC hire workers working 12+ hrs a week/6 days a week and had those workers extremely thankful to the MC for giving them 1 day off. A quick online search about historical farming practices and working hours will get you many data points such as: "medieval farmers only worked 180 days a year" "for 95% of human history, people worked 15 hrs a week." However, in modern China, 996 (9am-9pm, 6 days a week) is very common to the point of it being a meme. Should I congratulate the author for marketing exploitative corporation work practices in their novel as a good thing?

One plus was that the villains

Spoiler

don't get a lot of screentime or don't stay annoying for too long.

[collapse]

It's slightly more focused on MC building his business than on toxic face-slapping compared to some other novels, which makes it more enjoyable to read.

Also, the author often forgets a lot of what they wrote in previous chapters, because they would often completely overwrite or change what they had previously decided:

Spoiler

such as: early in the novel, the MC makes 30 taels. He then spends "most of it" on buying stuff. The author then writes MC "only had" 27 taels left. ??? that's still the majority of the money???

another instance: MC told his business partner to sell a farm tool for 1 tael each. A few chapters later, it became 600-700 wen each.

[collapse]

Translation was okay. Ger (ge'er/a'ge) and double-negatives weren't translated correctly. Also I don't think women exist in the novel, so it was kind of jarring to see "Madam XYZ" (males) used everywhere for spouses of the "head of the family/patriarch." <<less

➺ 3/5 🌟

I never minded reading about slow paced slice of life novels that focuses on farming/cooking/business with no explosive plot. Others might find it monotonous and boring but I've always loved the simple and relaxing story that portrays the realistic everyday life. And this novel is exactly that.

This is a transmigration to an ancient world but the transmigration itself is just a catalyst to let the MC have a slight advantage living in an unfamiliar world. With the help of the MC's profession as a capable chef in the... more>> modern world, he established his own business from scratch with the ML. The story has a low stake plot, with the characters encountering minor hurdles here and there, but nothing really major happening, except for the last part about the MC and ML's baby which was more serious than the rest.

I could have given this one a solid 4 stars, but the third of story was a bit over the too for me, especially when it comes to that one villainous character that felt like a c*ckroach that couldn't get killed in one strike. The author spent so much time on him but I personally think that his character was unnecessary and the story would have been fine without him. Or that he could have got him out of the story the first time. But unfortunately, the author loved to bring him back again and again. I was not here for that.

Also, since large portion of the story is about cooking, expect to get hungry, especially since the translator always includes the picture of all the cuisines prepared by the MC. This novel is basically a food p*rn. The romance is okay, but the best part for me is the warm family dynamic, the cooking and the establishing of the business. <<less

3.5/5*

One can say it's boring, but I think it serves what was to be expected from a slice of life.

The story is well-written and quite realistic in terms of business and relationships.

... more>> First, the MC didn't have a golden finger or an incredibly wide range of knowledge; he's simply a chef who opened a snack shop and restaurant. He didn't always rely on connections and, at the same time, didn't act all aloof to the point where he didn't seek help when it was necessary. He was smart and versatile enough.

The family relationship was also heartwarming, with all the family members showing affection and understanding. Everyone was united and supportive. Even the ML's uncle family, who initially seem like potential villains, turned over a new leaf and remained well-connected. God, I really love those simple-minded villagers! (Except Dahe's family, which never shows any repentance) This is probably the only ancient transmigration novel I've read where neither the MC nor the ML cut ties with their family (lol).

One aspect I particularly appreciate is the logical progression of the story, like how the MC didn't suddenly miraculously heal of all illness but was actually treated by professionals, and everything took time and many parties's effort. This makes me cherish the hard-earned baby more.

Just one point: I honestly didn't know why the author wanted to write nine-chapter-long extras about two insignificant characters. I mean, they are cute, but why? I don't even have the urge to read it, if not for my OCD telling me to finish all the chapters and consider it done. 😢 <<less

It's labeled slice of life so as expected it's not as fantastical for me (since slice of life novels tends to turn boring for me.) It has the expected transmigrate to make money with cooking trope and the accompanying drama that comes with such a trope, and even with the mix of slice of life thrown in, this novel wasn't bad. I don't know if the ML transmigrated into someone else's body of if he'd transmigrated with original body but since it was never addressed in the story, I'm going... more>> to assume it's either a plot hole or MC had transmigrated with his original body. What I liked was that there wasn't any dragged out scenes of does he/doesn't he involving the MC and ML falling in love and getting together. All in all, this novel was fine, just fine and though it may not be 5 stars for me, it certainly doesn't fall below 3. <<less

Really enjoying this low stakes relaxing slice of life transmigration story. Do not read this on an empty stomach, your drool may wreck your phone/tablet/computer. Tantalizing food photos as well as detailed descriptions of different foods, some of which I had never heard of before as well as authentic sounding recipes for them. Most of the issues are resolved quite quickly so far. I like that Changle does not get cured overnight; as with most mental and physical trauma, it is a process.

Reading this gave me mixed feelings.

It's a slice of life in the truest sense. There is no extreme golden finger.
  • MC lives a down to earth life in the village; he participates in farming but has no golden finger on reclaiming land or growing exotic crops like potatoes.
  • His golden finger sorely lies in food, skills he cultivated in previous life. He runs his restaurants in the city. Very slow business growth. He doesn't buy any land or houses either but rents (which is so risky).
  • MC doesn't have a gold finger but plot halo. It's illogical for him to retain monopoly over the food scene without other skilled chefs picking up some techniques, unless they are his allies.
  • His carpentry side hustle feels incongruent. I don't understand how as a chef, he has knowledge of so many blueprints. On one part, it felt like the author driving MC to connect with higher nobility with farm tool inventions; this is unnecessary because MC already has connections with nobles in his sphere of influence through cooking. The bigger part, I feel extremely annoyed with some inventions like baby carriages because they add nothing to people's lives or story.
Now, the antagonists and how MC dealt with them was incredibly frustrating.

  • Shi Sheng was written as pure cannon fodder. He had no likeable traits. Even the backstory of forced marriage, that could have garnered sympathy, was twisted to him becoming a mistress for another villain. I didn't like how ML handled Shi Sheng but I also can't pity him because of how he was written.
  • Jia Xiaoren. Too many chapters spent on this frustrating character. More than anything, it showed MC's incompetence in handling big matters. Made me question his transmigration.
In conclusion, MC's growth is too slow and quite small. Without the backing of the noble families, MC would be nothing.

It's a really good novel about farming, cooking and building a business while improving others' life. The CP is super cute and it's very wholesome seeing their relationships.

However, I feel like the author just wants to get the rivals over and done with, leaving a bad aftertaste for me in the middle of all the fluff.

I didn't rate it since I hadn't finished it, but will be camping for spoilers here.

I am foodie so I had my mouth hanging when they keep listing one food after another, it doesn't help when you're also hungry ! Don't read this when your hungry

MC pass away and transmigrated in this world, we get know about his sad childhood, his makes amazing food, gives out farming drawprints. MC is really smart and knows how to handle people and win them over with food too. He's also like men so this was a great world for him.

ML is really strong, have a kind heart, very... more>> protective of his family but have low confidence due to pass events and his body situation. But very innocent and pure, he's really cute.

Grandpa and little brother is also very good characters. I enjoy knowing them and watching them living together.

This was alot of food business related and alot off fluff between MC and ML. It's all sweet, so I enjoy reading the food and get fed sugar at the same time hehe.

The baby in trouble was the final part and we skip through the last few chapters relative quick before it was long long paragraphs for each chapter, and we get a HE then it was done.

It was a worthwhile read, it helps to relax thinking about food.

However I just want to nitpick about the extras which disappointed me. I was never interest in that couple Author! You wasted a good 10 extras about something that readers didn't want to follow

Spoiler

I am just sad MC never gets to meet the Emperor or got to the Capital to expand, there's no extras about the future either
