Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. To save up money for his younger brother’s medical treatment, Li Xinyu took a part-time job as an NPC in a horror escape room. The job required him to wear a dress, which unexpectedly hooked Gu Xingzhou, a senior one year ahead of him at school.
Talk about fate—Gu Xingzhou had actually caught him arriving late at the school gates before, though Gu Xingzhou hadn’t recognized him then.
Gu Xingzhou was a classic case of “more money than brains” and became utterly infatuated with this “school dropout girl.” Swayed by the financial help, Li Xinyu went along with it. They held hands, went on dates, and Li Xinyu successfully managed to secure the money needed for his brother’s surgery from Gu Xingzhou.
Riddled with guilt, Li Xinyu planned to come clean and confess that he was actually a guy. However, Gu Xingzhou found out the truth first.
On the day of their confrontation, Li Xinyu and Gu Xingzhou stood beneath a tree on campus. Li Xinyu kept his head low, not daring to look at him.
With a devastated expression, Gu Xingzhou demanded, “Why did you lie to me?”
Li Xinyu bit his lip and replied, “I’m sorry… I was really desperate for money.”
Gu Xingzhou nodded, furious and overwhelmed: “Are you still short of money now?!”
“No…”
His brother’s surgery was already over.
Li Xinyu originally intended to earn money as quickly as possible to pay back every single cent he had taken from Gu Xingzhou, but he never got the chance. Unable to cope with the blow, Gu Xingzhou transferred schools.
A single farewell lasted for ten whole years.
