Qin Yao transmigrated into a book and became the top female supporting character, “Qin Yao,” in a 1970s island compound novel. Her city best friend, Chen Baozhen, came from a wealthy family. She traveled all the way to the island for a blind date but didn’t like her match. Instead, she fell for another “phoenix man” and married into the island compound.

The original heroine, Bai Qiuling, was reborn. She turned over a new leaf, becoming a good wife and mother. She excelled in both housework and cooking, and her relationship with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law was harmonious. Everyone in the compound praised her as a “good wife.”

Chen Baozhen, despite having a good family background, was spoiled and couldn’t do housework. After marriage, her life became chaotic, with a difficult best friend, a troublesome sister-in-law, and a demanding mother-in-law all causing problems. In contrast to the heroine, she ended up divorced.

Qin Yao was the type of best friend who tried to climb the social ladder through her connections, being picky and offending others. In order to avoid being sent to the countryside, she came to the island to visit her friend and find a suitable match.

When she arrived, Qin Yao was already at the port, preparing to board a ship. However, due to bad weather, the port suddenly closed, and she had to return to the guesthouse.

On the way, she saw a handsome “little wolf-dog” and decided to flirt with him.

Qin Yao, calling him “little brother” and acting like a caring older sister, learned that the innocent-looking “little wolf-dog” was actually an employee of a fishing company. Qin Yao was intrigued and gave him a handkerchief, considering him as a potential marriage candidate.

However, the “little wolf-dog” turned out to be an older, fierce man!

Her best friend: “He was my previous blind date! He’s so fierce!”

Qin Yao: Speechless.

So much for being a “fishing company employee.”

One year, Gu Cheng, the “little wolf-dog” nearing thirty, was approached by a beautiful woman on the street. He, wary of her intentions, claimed to be a fishing company employee and waited to figure out her background.

As he waited… he realized that the woman had given him more than just a handkerchief!

She was ten years younger than him, yet had the audacity to call herself his “older sister!”

This novel isn’t bad however it didn’t really capture my attention long enough for me to keep reading. The FL and ML do have some cute moments together but I kept feeling that the ML is really pushy and I really felt like their relationship progressed too fast.

Spoiler

At a certain point, the FL set this trial period for their relationship and usually in other novels, you see them really build a relationship and have growing chemistry but it didn’t happen here. It just felt like it jumped to the ML applying for marriage, I don’t remember a confession scene or him asking her to marry him.

[collapse]

It also felt like they don’t communicate very well, the initial few chapters were them just constantly having this weird limbo where he’s brooding over something and she’s upset about something else.

I think the novel is worth trying out but I hope I’m not the only one feeling this way about it lol <<less
