I couldn't help but to write here!! I love this novel, though this novel has some serious issues like su*cide and illness but the way author described everything was awesome. I can't stop myself from laughing also in some cases I also couldn't stop myself from feeling sad. And I think this is the first time where I like a supporting character more than the main characters which is Bai xue. I just love her and her bald head lol

Unconventional but charming take on a modern fairy tale.

If you’ve read anything by Grumpy Crab before you’ll know that she either writes very chill but heartwarming, slice of life romances or straight up weird slow romances that sound that they shouldn’t work on paper but is somehow still sweet and this story is definitely the latter.

The premise seems a little odd at first but by the end you really fall for the characters and root for the romance between the MC and ML. Spoiler, it’s HE!

Omg I cried 90% of the time reading this. It talks about heavy topics like depression and s*icide attempts. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and was s*icidal myself so reading Brother Wolf’s thoughts and attempts in the beginning really got to me because it mirrored mine. I am also fortunate enough to go through intensive therapy and meds to get better alongside my husband who also acted like Little Red Riding Hood. So this novel really speaks to me.

It’s bordering on dark topics, with people who don’t have... more>> long to live but the relationship they have with one another is so beautiful. I love the whole story. <<less

It's a good novel till the last 20-25 chapters, because after that it became an average rushed story, with some inconsistent plots. Though ignoring that, the circumstances were used very well, it didn't feel forced, the ML's and FL's interaction, talking about a deep topic like su*cide but especially their bantering.

High plus rambling spoiler:

The premise of the plot was unique and the FL (nicknamed Little Red Riding Hood) and ML (nicknamed Brother Wolf) interaction was quite nice, being a balance of deep subjects like su*cide or depression and comedy banter, plus FL's friends at the hospice were amusing as well, which including them have fiction terminal illnesses as well.

Most of the plot fell apart in my opinion, after the 25–26 days contract ended, of ML being treated by the FL as a "psychologist". Since then, the author decided to rush the story. By focusing on hooking up the other characters with their love person. Then the author makes fast-paced lovemaking between the FL's best friend and her ex-boyfriend with the alcohol power, thus FL gets this influence as well and makes fast-paced lovemaking with the ML, before marriage mind you, or trying to make with an important detail appearing suddenly lead to a HE. Which is finding out that FL's and her friend's contract has a time limit, and it is 10 years, but then ML CEO work and power and in ten years he creates all the antidotes through all the paid medical research and then the ending appears suddenly just like that.

Anyway, it started to give me the urge to only read it just by ending it urgently otherwise I would've dropped it if I prolonged it any longer, after ML bad tendencies ended because of FL's help, because the author decided to make it rushed "fluff" but irrational in some parts of it

[collapse]

The translation is good, 90% readable, some him/her and some words not at their right place.

Overall, it's a decent novel from 4 stars that became average as 3 stars, in my opinion, for the last chapters 20-25, which you would surely or maybe have a different opinion than mine.

P.S.: Bed scenes, aftermath detail.

Good night. <<less

I am amazed!!!! This story should be very heavy and even psychologically triggering, however, due to the author's skills, it wasn't. The funny banters and hilarious scenes made the atmosphere lighthearted when it's not supposed to be (after all, the ML has suicidal tendencies and the FL and her friends are terminally ill patients) but although there are quite a few times where I felt a little sad, it can even be counted with one hand because most scenes were very funny. The author's ability to instill the value of... more>> life while not forgetting the consequences of death was really awesome. I like the romance between the leads, but I also like the friendship between the FL and the gang. Each of them has their own personality and I am very happy that all of them achieved their happy ending together with their loved ones (although Xiao Ming was still single until the end lol).

Anyway, as for the plot, it basically revolves around the FL convincing the ML to stop committing su*cide.
Spoiler

Some of you might think the ML is annoying for trying to kill himself again and again, but just like the saying goes, you won't know the water is hot unless you are the one who'll drink it. It may be ridiculous and repetitive for some but for me, it isn't. Su*cide has always been a sensitive matter. Some may argue that life is so precious, why take it. And some may argue that living is worse than death. Anyway, I think it's definitely not bad to help someone who wants to commit su*cide, but I think we should always be careful of our advice for them, especially if we have never been in their situations. Rather than asking them to stop harming themselves because living is good, let's just made them feel that they are loved and needed.

[collapse]
And the other part of the plot is the side stories about the FL's friends. Agin, I really like them a lot. Be it Bai Xue (I like her as a friend but definitely as an FL if ever), Wu Ge, Xiao Ming, and Cao Nuo. I especially like the scene where they sent Xiao Ming to the university personally. It's really heartwarming. And although the ending doesn't clearly state that the research was successful, but I'll just take it that all of them lived happily.

As for the romance between the FL and ML, it's definitely there but since the story is short, it doesn't have much emphasis. Their interactions were more towards healing until love finally blooms. And there's not much details about them as well, but I guess it's fine.

Overall, it was really a wonder how can a story which is obviously psychologically trigger be made into a pretty lighthearted story by the author. And the translation is very good as well. It's definitely 10/10. What a pity there's only 1 extra chapter.

PS. This story deserves more than the 3.9 rating honestly. <<less

Tbh, one of the reasons why I read this was to take a peek into the minds of those who have thought of ending their lives. I want to understand because I have lost people to this. I’m not sure if you find the same healing that I did here. But I think there’s something here for everyone, even if they don’t have such issues. Love the ensemble cast. Most touching bit was when

it’s explained how the cast of characters decide to love anyway.

It was okay. Too much attention on side characters and side couples at the end. The ending was too rushed but the beginning was really good.

More like 3.5 stars. It’s a very interesting premise, but not well executed. I usually like Grumpy Crab, but this one was weaker than her other novels. It felt a little like a casual scribble without putting much consideration into world building, and skipping over details because the author was a bit lazy or bored (I mean, out of 25 days of activity, they ended up skipping over more than half).

It’s still cute and readable, but don’t expect a lot out of it.

I read this story because it's one of Grumpy Crab's work. The premise was quite interesting and the idea was refreshing. The characters were also pretty likeable but it went downhill after MC's "last day".

After that, MC became a bit annoying and wasn't as adorable as before. I also couldn't see at all that she liked ML throughout the story so when she said that he liked ML, I couldn't believe it at all.

And the ending was so rushed. I wish there could be more of it but it ended just like that. <<less

It’s considered a light hearted read even with the heavy dark undertone. I guess because of the supernatural base plot the heavy feeling of imminent death seem light. But it does gives you alot of thoughts about how our live going to end. Or how we going to live or waste away our time or life. Even though ML has depression, it’s doesn’t dwell much on it. I guess because maybe author want us to think about when some ppl fighting hard to live another day while others just want... more>> to give up. And author also throws in those aghasty dramas where ppl don’t dare to love because they are about to die or wants to be together even your gonna to die. It is a romance story and a story about hope. So there’s plenty there. Anyway its a good read. Thank you

real red riding hood. Instead it just author playing around with naming the character and their personality.

Another good story by Grumpy Crab. Though the story revolve around life and death, it is quite a chill read.

If you are looking for fluffiness, there are not much, but definitely worth to give this a read.

Also love the story about the side character. As you go towards the end of the story, it is more about the side than the main couple. I only hope to read more about the side couple, though having a less of them giving me more to imagine what could possibly happen. Hahaha.

Anyway stop reading the review and read it!

Thank you for the translator for a good translation with footnotes and some links for explaination of certain things. Good Job! <<less
