This is really good but too shortㅠㅠ The story is well-written, good plot and characters, the smut is well written too.

It has everything you might want in a story:

• Character depth
• Philosophical outlook
• Conflict and logic
• Interesting background
• Very good writing - some call it poetic writing but I'll say it's a very vibrant writing that will give you the taste of a full meal and contentment
• And finally quality smut! (Not the vulgar ones, but tasteful smut which also plays the role of connecting the protagonists emotionally and furthering the plot)

And the most interesting... more>> thing is that this little fella is a very short story. So expressing these challenging qualities within a short story is an impressive fact on its own I'll say! <<less

A nice little gem. Quite short - I read it in about an hour. Beautiful character sketch of both the MCs. The way the king explains the reason for the war and his world-view is quite well done and assassin's change of heart is captured in a believable way. The writer shows a level of maturity and understanding of world affairs not seen very often in LNs of this genre.

Definitely recommend.

Within this short story lies some of the best characterization and backstory you will find anywhere on novel updates. I have never seen a novel that gives so much respect to an inters*x character that focuses on the smut aspect. That in itself is quite refreshing. Both characters have a personality and a world view that fit their maturity. This, rather than a mindless smut could possibly be a beginning of a good relationship.

as much as hard it is to believe, the author was able to successfully integrate s*x and plot in a complete way with this little chapter than a lot of longer webnovels lol. A well made shortie worth the read.

it's a promising short story I wish it would have made into a 100-ish chapters and it will still be better than a lot of ancient setting webnovel out there. And that's me as a person who had read hundreds of webnovels

Never in my life I've expected that this itty bitty novel actually has plot in it. I am so f*cking suprise. I'll be honest here, I came to read the sm*t but I was slapped by the plot. I thought it would be something like Jiang Ke and Family S*x Sl*ve.

Ending was satisfactory, I definitely want to see more. I want to read their future lives, but then again, maybe it wouldn't be as interesting as this one.

This novel is different from what I'm used to but I liked it. While the story is short and smutty, I could feel a real special connection between the assassin and emperor. Unexpectedly, their encounter healed the other.

Not to my taste. Not as much insight as I thought there's be, and I couldn't connect well with the characters. Nice translation though!

This was a short, well crafted tale between the first meeting of an assassin and the emperor. Loved it! It summarizes why the assassin has come and then unfolds a rich secret offering a path to life or death.

The assassin had been given a job to kill the emperor knowing he would die afterwards. The Emperor offers him a way for both of them to live. Neither expects compassion, support, forgiveness, or love. However, in the other's embrace, they received more than what they had ever hoped for. They shared the night and welcomed a new day together. Yes, there is beautifully described smut!

It's very short but there's character depth and the author was able to integrate inters*x in the story. There's a little bit of smut and a plot!!

I feel sad for the Emperor's back story, glad that he met the right assassin. I also like how the assassin respected the Emperor and how he felt pity because of how he was treated because of his secret.

Overall, a very nice read!
