Others may not like this, but I really like this series!

This is the typical transmigration Chinese novel that you read but there are some points which make this different from others (both positive and negative ??).

... more>> POSITIVE:

- the MC is lovable (for me). Why? Because she is not totally blood thirsty as compared to others. She may be OP, but not entirely. At least, she doesn't have knowledge in medicine and alchemy! I guess I'm tired with reading about MCs that are good with martial arts, strategy, scheming, business, alchemy and medicine all in one. So yeah, this is good for me.

- the MC is shameless yet not to the point that she is annoying. She is level headed esp when she faces the ML. Her shamelessness is part of her personality, but I really like it that she is running away from the ML, as if it's the natural disposition of her heart ?? Because she just couldn't care about him at all.

- the MC's naivety and innocence to romance and love. ??? Reading about how her feelings for the ML progress was truly fun!! Compared to other novels, the development of her feelings towards the ML was subtle, but once she understood her feelings, it was a BOOM! Experience for her.

- the ML's personality and background. Others may not like his personality and for being bloodthirsty, but I appreciate how the author built his personality based on his background. Because of that, I really appreciate the romance between the ML and MC. His background and upbringing, along with the background and personality of the MC, made the pairing a "common sense" instead.

- the ML didn't fall in love at first sight! ??? Finally! Also, he wasn't a stalker at first at all! In other novels, after the first encounter with the MC, the ML will stalk and observe the MC because she is interesting, and the ML become shameless. Yet, the motive of this novel's ML in approaching the MC (after their first encounter) was to kill her. It morphed to something else after their encounters (which were accidental for the first few encounters until the ML decided to pursue the MC for perverse reason such as catching the MC as his prey - literally and not in romantic sense). Basically, the ML is unique.

The ML and the MC are the reason why I continued on reading this actually ? Their encounters are absolutely fun to read because the MC is gullible and dense when it comes to heart issues while the ML is also twisted about it due to his background and history. They are not the typical "you and I fit together because we rule, and we are OP" type of a pairing. Although YES they are OP but the reason why they chose each other was different.

- the other characters. I really appreciate how there are many different supporting characters that were introduced as well. It is fun to read how they interact with the leads and how they think uniquely.
- few / some of the villains. Well, there are a few who changed. Still, I appreciate how there are some of the villains with background story as to how they became the villain.

NEGATIVE:

- yes. The ML's description. It's so tiring to read lengthy and repetitive descriptions of the ML's appearance. I just skip a few lines ?? But I also do not want to skip reading about the ML's feelings in every encounter and dialogue that he has with others. Therefore, I can tolerate how the author exaggerate the ML's "awesomeness"

- some of the villains. There are really shallow villains just for the sake of showing the OPness of the leads. So yeah, it gets repetitive. I just skip them as well.

- the plot about dealing with villains. It is so hard to be patient on how the leads deal with the villain. It takes fifty-hundred/s of chapters just to deal with one, and another hundreds for another.

- the dialogue between the villains and the leads during the "slapping time" or "scheming time". Honestly, it's tiring. I just skip them instead.

CONCLUSION:

I believe it is worth it to read this novel. :) After reading many types of novel such as these, it is hard to find one that is different and unique from the rest. Others may have mentioned the ML r*pes the MC, but I don't think so. Why?

The MC could've rejected the ML if she didn't like it or if she was repulsed by it. This is why I pointed out that the MC is naive about romance and about her feelings towards the ML.

Not only do I disagree that the ML r*pes the MC, but I also appreciate how common sense it is for the

ML to seek s*xual relations with his wife. It was the MC's naivety to believe that her husband will remain to be celibate after marrying her.


Still, her reactions and responses toward his advances speaks a lot already. She doesn't find him repulsive at all. So what's the problem with this?

I love how the ML married the MC to lure her to his bed ??? At least, he married her! That is commitment! Rather than reading romance wherein the leads make love before marriage, this novel shows that the ML's feelings towards the MC is to the point of commuting himself to marriage.

Therefore, give this a chance and try reading it. Give allowances to the lapses as well. Basically, this is really fun to read. <<less

I feel like I'm at a spot in the story that I can stop reading and still be satisfied. I've read many of these kinds of tropes but I still found this to be enjoyable. Probably because despite all the hidden identities and alter egos, I really like the main couple and their relationship. ML never experienced love before because he didn't have the love of his parents. Therefore when he starts to fall in love with MC, he mistakes it for being interest in her only as a prey.... more>> And MC is just so chill about this.

Things that didn't make sense to me:

  • MC's fiance was apparently stolen by her half-sister which is why he canceled the engagement between them. However, pretty quickly later on, the half-sister pretty much ditched him to chase after the ML and the ex-fiance didn't seem to care about this at all. MC has two half-sisters, I wished the author made use of both of them instead of having the one half-sister who is known as the #1 Beauty to chase after both the fiance and ML.
  • MC was already married to ML so she shouldn't have been able to take part in the secondary consort selection. She was already the primary consort, I'm sure there's a rule somewhere that she can't be both primary and secondary consorts. However, she did ask the Retired Emperor and he told her she can join. The main reason everyone was pressuring ML to marry a secondary consort is because MC has "dark skin" therefore she's "ugly". I wished instead of doing this whole beauty/martial arts ability contest to choose a secondary consort, ML just stood firm about not choosing a secondary consort and brought MC out to prove that she has both beauty and martial arts ability (which she disclosed in the secondary consort selection anyways). But I guess that would be one less arc.
  • The female characters who are after the ML are so delusional. MC's half-sister, regardless of how many times ML has rejected her and humiliated her (he had even bestowed marriage for her to another man), she still thinks that she has a chance with him all because she's beautiful. There was a maid who was given to ML by his mother whom ML treated differently think that because she was treated differently, he loves her. Despite the fact that she betrayed him, she still thought she had a chance with him.
  • There are so many male characters and they are first described in detail before being named. Sometimes I don't even know if they are new characters or someone we're already introduced to. It's hard to keep track.
  • The translations skipped 2-3 of the most important chapters of the novel. Some of the raw sources are also missing them. I was able to track them down and read the MTL version of those chapters. The reason this is a problem is that those are the chapters that MC tells ML that she comes from the future. All of a sudden, a few chapters later, ML talks to his friend regarding MC's confession of being from the future and I'm like... wait a minute... when did this happen?

I feel really terrible for giving this one star, but I can't help it!! I've tried to read this novel several times already and I always dropped it at certain chapters (I always start back from chapter one again). I know that usually with cultivation tag the novels are most likely to have super slow pace, meaning the MC usually went somewhere and do something, basically too much info that's so overwhelming.

This is a LIGHTNOVEL alright..

Ive read as far as the available translated chapters.. And as far im concern its a good read based on how much ive read so far..

Yes, it is the usual trope of transmigrated FL..i wont list it in anymore bt I did enjoy reading it.. It is the usual trope bt still has its different taste to it.. Im not one to give spoilers and im not someone to make a review often bt im doing so this time after reading other reviews..

Its their own opinion... more>> so im not gonna say anything about what they've said bt one thing I advise to those who read the reviews bfore reading a novel.. DONT RELY ON REVIEWS TOO MUCH.. Just like what the saying says "u cant please evrybody" u'll nver knw if its ur cup of tea until u've had a taste.. Give it a try first..

Im not sure about what the chapters beyond the translated chapters contain bt I still want to read more of this.. Too bad the current translators r dropping it. Im hoping there'll be other translators to take it up..

Only observation review, haven't read it yet.

I'm intended to read this a few weeks ago, but because of other novel distraction, I dropped this for a while and maybe after I finished with other novel, I will read this novel. Now the problem is, I can't find this novel before now, why? Because the description is so general I can't even find this, there are a lot of this type of novel that even if I try to asked someone to help me find it, I don't think they will... more>> find this novel.

I have to checked 'josei' tags one by one to find this, and by the time I find it, I just lost the mood, I don't even know if I will read this later... <<less

The story is quite good and intriguing in itself, and like most transmigration novels, a good read to pass the time, as the translation is very well done and up to speed. If you're a person of color though.. there are a few parts that made me uncomfortable, that led me to inevitably drop the series. The MC constantly darkens her skin with Charcoal, in an attempt to make herself more unattractive (The Chinese beauty standard is pale skin-- I get that, but try to find another way to... more>> make her "ugly".. will ya author?) This theme of her darkening her skin is mentioned throughout the story, and the ML himself made her skin even darker than it was when the dark skin peeled away to reveal her "flawless porcelain complexion"... to prevent other men from being attracted to her. I felt like my face was being slapped repeatedly--- But this is a minor detail to most, and you'll gloss over it just fine--- I just couldn't. <<less

I don't even know why I read this story up to 450 chapters.

Is started off well but eventually the plot became chaotic.

The author might develop amnesia while writing this story as the characters development were inconsistent, repetitive plot and for the first time I hate both the FL and ML because they just as tr*shy as other characters.

There were just too many things going on, cultivation, magic, demon, time travelling but none of it makes sense.

No PLOT at all. No big villain. The big villain that's even close to one was the Golden Lotus who was trying to take the the FL's place to be beside ML. At least she was deeply hidden. The rest are just repetitive cannon fodders.

FL just became a simp out of no where. Like she always pushed the ML always like, didn't accept his advances then out of no where, she suddenly was like "I will become a dominating CEO and win his love" as if he hasn't been trying. The transition was out of nowhere

I don't even want to talk about the ML and FL's personality because others said it better.

The ending was so bad. Like the last PLOT was so last minute, it didn't feel very suspenseful. Like huh??? that's it?? Who tf is that Yin Yang guy. Where was the ending for the family???

I just have so many questions, what happened to the Imperial Grandfather in ancient times?? like SIR. You were a prince, you literally just abandoned your kingdom to go to the future and what happened to her body??? Why did they not go back to Ancient times. What happened to the ancient people????

What happened to that CAT PRINCE THAT SHE WAS IN CONTRACT WITH????

FL's daughter plus that Bai dude plot was kinda weird... I don't know, does he count as a groomer? He's 5 yrs older than her when he adopted him when she was just 4 years old. So they grew together, a lot of time skips and his fan girls are just same girls with different names. He literally confessed that as a 17 yr old, he gets hard for a 12 yr old. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT ONE CHEIF.

I think my favourite was the twin brothers. They're so cute.

The main problem with this revenge-story is that there's hardly any satisfaction in any of the revenge as well as the inconsistency of the main characters morals. People who's been killing people, scheming evil deeds etc just gets killed off screen as if it was a footnote they were even there. At other times someone who basically just fell in love with the ML or looked at someone wrong gets tortured and has their soul destroyed making it impossible for them to reincarnate.

The first few hundred chapters were alright, but... more>> eventually it just gets into a repetitive cycle of some woman coming into the story, falling for the ML and being like "How can he love that girl!?". It was fine the first few times when the FL was considered ugly, s*upid and useless, but eventually it's like "How could he love her, even though she's just so beautiful that everyone gets a heart attack just by hearing her description and she's the best at everything any genre except those things that the ML is the best at!? THE WORLD IS SO UNFAIR AND I MUST NOW KILL HER!" getting repeated a million times. <<less

The author changed the plot midway? First it sets the world as a place where fancy mythical weapons dominate the continent and the masters who made these weapons are very well respected/powerful. BUT NO ONE EVER USES THESE WEAPONS. The FL make these weapons and sell them, and not one of any powerful beings she went up against or their underlings use these special weapons? The FL made the ML a legendary black scythe but it was never mentioned again except for once when she talked about her dowry to... more>> him. He never used the weapon...

THEN HALF WAY THROUGH THE NOVEL, THE #1 POWERFUL OCCUPATION SUDDENLY CHANGED INTO EXOCISTS. Like out of no where. Same world, no weapon maker masters are ever mentioned again. The FL suddenly became an exorcist and never made any of the weapons again.

THEN THE LAST 700 CHAPTERS, it became all about the FL's daughter's life. And this part has weird pedo vibes with a 9 yo boy lusting after a 4 yo girl (the daughter). The 9 yo "adopted" her because of some bullsh*t plot device that the daughters has buddha affinity so she can't be near the ML (her father) who is a demon. The FL being a great mother she is, would rather sent her daughter away to the temple so she can be with the ML and her demon sons.

The story about the daughter went on and on, and the most disturbing thing is the daughter seemed to have the same toddler/young-child mentality that the auther explained was because she was raised in the temple for the first 4 years of her life. The 9 yo then became an 18 yo lusting over a 12 yo child (literally talking about her legs and belly and needing cold shower in the middle of the night because they share the same bed). The 18 yo dude then applied for certification of marriage (some kind of military request for marriage) for the 12 yo when he entered the army and we are supposed to find that to be romantic? They got married when she turned 16, but she still spoke like a child and doesn't seemed to understand anything despite not being in the temple since she was 4. I'm not exaggerating, other characters would describe her as too innocent and how she doesn't seem to know anything... and it wasn't in a mean way, they're just describing her as she is. Seems like she has some kind of mental deficiency if I am to be honest. It's really disturbing to read about a 16 yo wearing tiger ears, barely understanding that she's not a boy, doesn't understand marriage, doesn't understand that kissing can be sexual, doesn't grasp the concept of anything aside from that she's hungry and wants to eat. <<less

I like how she like making weapons. I love how she lets everyone walk into their traps and then after they are committed to their ploy they are completely made foolish and evil in front of those that they wish to impress. She lets everyone mock her because she doesn't care and only wants to make weapons, sell them, make money and be independent. And all the white lotus's can't buy from her shop because they and there families get banned for being rude. Lol she is a pip.

They both... more>> are absolute squares when it comes to relationships. Send them a self help book because only Abu Ca Ca (Let's Shake it drama) was more lost on love than them and she was an alien. "What's a husband? Can I eat it?" lol <<less

If you like transmigration novels, you can read this one, but I'm not too recommending.

Had read many rebirth, transmigration novels, this one is under average. The translation is nice, and they are fast in updates, that's great. It's just that for the novel, the characters are lacking.

MC is tr*sh, read more and more chapters, she is still tr*sh, ugly (cannot find any solid reason why she still needs to keep all her ability and her beauty in dark if she is said awesome, should already go revenge?) and being bullied,... more>> criticized as tr*sh. Do not know currently what cultivation level she's in, cuz no explanation of what exactly so levels are there. Yeah, she can cultivate qi, but it doesn't help the situation at all. MC has support from her grand master, what so called ancient devil, spirit beast, and some random become-close-males-outstanding-friends, also she was mercenary queen, which is supposed to be cold blooded and decisive, yet don't see any great accomplishment at all, now she suddenly love money? ML, referring and expression for him always the same meaning, same atmosphere, and he thinks MC as his "prey"? I don't find ML that impressive, aside from him being prince and have some authorities, we also don't know what his qi and cultivation cuz no clear explanation. He can only freeze other people with his glare, being dark and moody, squeeze what things in his hand and angry, that's all. So I stopped reading after ch 145. If I have too much free time in the future, might read this again but not for now... <<less
