Yoo Raon, an ordinary art student and a Beta by nature, encounters a dangerous and menacing man one night while walking through a deserted alleyway.

“What should I do with someone so clueless, despite wanting to stay alive? Hmm?”

“It makes me want to save you, but also rip that mouth of yours right off.”

He had a beautiful face and a soft-spoken voice. Yet his strength, aimed at his prey, was unrelenting and merciless.

The man locked eyes with Raon but said nothing, leaving only a strange, beautiful smile as he disappeared. Relieved that she wasn’t harmed despite being a witness, her peace doesn’t last long.

“Hi. We meet again.”

“Oh, just wondering—you’re not going to pretend you don’t remember me, are you?”

The man begins appearing in Raon’s world, his gaze filled with amusement, as though he’d found a new toy to play with. Despite the unexpected entanglement, Raon doesn’t find it particularly difficult to deal with him.

“I thought this before, but your pheromones are pretty nice.”

However, when the man begins to show interest in Raon’s childhood friend—her first love and an Omega newly awakened—things take a very different turn.

I can see this novel becoming a manhwa in future just like what happened to Flowers are bait.

Oh and there is no annoying love triangle here!!!!

AND THIS IS A STRAIGHT OMEGAVERSE STORY WITH KNOTTING! UGH.

Spoiler

I just hoped there's like a progress with Jian and Hyesung and some hint of baby dust at the end

[collapse]

Anyways, I've read this all in just one sitting, sacrifing my sleep as usual.

I enjoyed this book a little too much. I feel like I inhaled it like crack with how fast I devoured it. The smut? Next. Level. HOT. I mean, I’m speechless. I don’t even know how to describe it—just intense and unhinged. IT WAS SO GOOD.

That said, I’m dropping a warning here because I know this won’t be for everyone. If you can’t stand male leads who are domineering, mean, obsessive, overly possessive, and controlling, then this book is not for you. ML and FMC relationship starts off a bit... more>> toxic and definitely problematic, so you’ll need to set aside certain expectations for a healthy romance to fully enjoy the story. Personally? I LOVED IT. I have a weakness for walking red flags—as long as they have character development by the end. Give me all the psychopathic men; I don’t mind, as long as they don’t cheat. I like what I like, okay? Leave me alone. This is my fictional world. Lmao. The ML—he's not just dominant toward the FMC; he exudes ALPHA energy in everything he does. I love how he refuses to take disrespect from anyone and will literally crush your balls if you so much as look at the FMC the wrong way. Gawd. And and he's such a beast in bed. My kind of man. I know I’m probably in the minority here since some readers will clutch their pearls at him. So girl, this is your warning—if this isn’t your cup of tea, avoid it.

Quick Summary (because the blurb is a little vague) : The FMC is a beta who’s in love with her best friend, an omega. Unfortunately, he doesn’t feel the same way because he’s in love with another friend, an alpha. No worries, though—this isn’t overly angsty, and that’s not the main focus. The best friend is, of course, drowning in debt (as every omega in a Korean Omegaverse novel seems to be), and loan sharks are hounding him daily. Even though the FMC knows there’s no romantic future for them, she still cares about him like family and worries about his situation. Enter the ML. He offers a solution—and we all know what that means. The FMC basically enters a situationship where the ML gets to sleep with her in exchange for protecting the omega best friend and taking care of his debt. Yes, it’s icky. Yes, it’s morally questionable. But help me, Lawd, the smut is so goddamn good.

The first 30 chapters focus on setting up the characters and their situation, and after that, we get the romance development. I loved how often we got glimpses of the ML’s POV—watching him spiral into obsession over the FMC was chef’s kiss. He starts off as an a**hole, but trust me, the satisfaction of seeing him suffer in love and not knowing how to make the FMC like him? Delicious. And props to the FMC—she didn’t fall for him overnight. She made him work for it, that’s probably why he was so obsessed. I liked FMC, I liked that she’s not one of those timid, quivering heroines you always come across. She’s strong, but not in an over-the-top way—it’s subtle yet unwavering. And when it comes to the ML, she’s never afraid to stand her ground and challenge him. I really loved the writing and the characters. There’s nothing mind-blowing about the plot, so don't go into this looking for that—it’s more of a guilty pleasure read. If you’re familiar with the Wife-Chasing Crematorium trope, This story is one of those.

I’m giving this a high rating because it has everything I love: well-written smut, pining, chasing, obsession and a redemption arc. Probably one of my favorites now. Huge thanks to the translator for bringing this gem to us—I genuinely appreciate your hard work. Grateful you exist. <<less
