One day after school, Souta Amane was called to the roof. Waiting there was Mei Hirose, a beautiful gyaru of their class. She confesses her feelings to Amane but he sees it as a punishment game since they have hardly had any contact until now.

However, next Monday, when Amane arrives at school, Hirose, who has had very little to do with Amane’s life until now, starts to get closer to him in an unimaginably aggressive way.

「Areh? Has the punishment game not ended after I’ve seen through it?」

Rating it 2 star for now
Mainly due to FMC's best friend and MC's friend's girlfriend, I get that they want to support FMC but the way FMC's best friend been helping only deepen the misunderstanding and somewhat make MC think he can't refuse at all otherwise he would get beaten up by her group of friends (MC's feeling was disregarded + without even thinking how her help could backfire and cause MC to help a way worse impression on FMC). The dumbest part is probably MC's friend's girlfriend due to the most recent translated chapter because FMC's friend group help her once with a problem and she instantly somewhat become a best friend of FMC and know FMC is in love with MC just because of that she expected MC to know FMC birthday and when MC didn't even show any sign of being in love with FMC at all and viewed MC as some rubbish when MC wasn't aware of it. The worse part is she even force MC to make lunch and buy present for FMC. So far it's hard to say it's been a fun read as you only seen mainly FMC's best friend forcing MC to accept regardless of MC's feeling. It would be nice if she at least asked MC properly instead of intimidating MC all the time like how is that suppose to help ??

I will change my rating again after reading more since I heard from people that read that raw that it start to pick up the pace around chapter 40ish

The story itself is basic. There's nothing special here. Therefore it should've garnered 3 stars

I'm giving it 2 because the fan translation is, to put it mildly, bad.

There are many reasons you'd use the original word instead of the target language's substitute:

  1. You may need to emphasize a character's origins. An "Eastern" character may therefore utter "itadakimasu" rather than "time to dig in!"
  2. You may need to provide relationship context. A yakuza may therefore utter "aniki" rather than "bro", and someone may utter "onii-sama" rather than "brother"
  3. There may not be a good substitute in the target language, therefore you may need to use "hatsumode" rather than "first shrine visit of the year"
What you should NOT do, is use it for weeb reasons. That's what the legendary "keikaku means plan" did: they deliberately... more>> used "keikaku" instead of "plan" for no other reason than making it feel more "Japanese-y". This translator decided to use "areh" instead of "huh" and "maa" instead of "well". That's why I drop this to 2 stars

One may think that this is "nitpicky", it's not. You can subconsciously fix grammar mistakes, you'll be forced to stop for a split second whenever you encounter "areh" and "maa", It breaks the flow when reading and above all makes it cringy weeby. There's a reason professional translations use the original words sparingly, and why "keikaku means plan" was mocked to hell and back <<less

I tried. I really did. Unfortunately it still came up as a generic girl likes boy that has no particular destination story. It's been 22 chapters and our main character still has no character. He just says yes to everything thrown his way or get scared by girls talking to him. Bland is the most appropriate word to describe him. One of the blandest I've ever encountered here. It's not bad per se, but not good either. It's just there.

It's okay, I guess? MC is not interested in heroine, but is too kind to refuse. Doing it half-heatedly earns him a lot of scorn from people around him, and I think author managed to execute it properly, I felt sorry for MC who was too good to send everybody for bananas.

Okay I guess. It's not particularly good, reading it feels like reading someone's diary. The boy does this, the girl does that, their cheeks red. No drama, neither is it sugar overdose like most generic JP romance. The pushy girl is the most interesting girl (although can be annoying), and she disappeared from the story for no good reason.
The main girl seems to spend most of her time (if not all of her summer) with MC and they aren't even dating, where has her cliche gone?
If you don't have anything else to read then this can be used to pass time. Otherwise there are much better stories out there.
