Bar, an ordinary middle-aged mister* and a veteran adventurer, lived an easy, comforting life in the Imperial Capital. He would carry items for adventuring parties or help the guild’s staff from time to time.

“Mr. Bar, glad to have you today!”

“Thank you for your words.”

That uncle who was liked by everyone in the capital, was actually the strongest arsenal of the Empire–One of the “Laevateinn”–Bartolomeus.

“Please step forward, Lord Bar.”

With a delicate and beautiful elven girl, Welhe Mina, to back him up, his gallant figure racing across the battlefield or the political battleground was simply godly—like a War God.

The heroic tales of the dowdy adventurer AND the mightiest arsenal starts here!

Notes:
*Mister – In asian countries, middle-aged men are usually called misters by younger people rather than by their names.
*LN changed drastically from the Web Novel, and also has a new heroine.

The premise is not new. However, this story handles the premise fairly well, more than I expected. It seemed to be riddling with cliches, well it still is, but they are also handled well.

What I mean by "handled well" is that the story is flowing at a natural and easy-to-follow pace, and information soaks in like a sponge. Characters are seemingly fleshed out and feel real. Some are enjoyable and relatable. They have reasonable reactions (for the most part) and any outliers are often explained a few chapters later.
Spoiler

I'm not the biggest fan of those three girls, they're a little naive and flip personalities too easily, although I can't complain because they have reasons for that.

[collapse]
Alongside the characters, the world setting feels simple but vast.

However, the story is somewhat predictable, as with most cliches. It's not enough to make it any less enjoyable, but I find my immersion broken when I realize it. The author appears to acknowledge this. The foreshadowing in this story is direct, straight to the point. However, it's ironically vague at the same time.
Example: "Something big is definitely going to happen."

Some personal thoughts of mine are that the art is well-done, the MC's personality is true to his appearance, both of which are well-done in my opinion, and the translation is excellent but has a few grammar/spelling errors (not enough to break immersion).

All in all, it's a 4 star. It's above average, but it's not a Triple A novel. A note for any potential readers: be warned, translations have seemingly stopped ever since last year, you'll be left a little empty until someone picks it up again. It's probably due to a lack of finances and popularity.
