When I had assumed it was just an ordinary day, I found myself abducted to a mysterious realm known as End Point.

When I had assumed escaping merely required participating in these perilous games, I soon discovered my fellow captives were awakening supernatural abilities.

When I had assumed that this land was the {Creation Ground of God}, everything was hurtling towards annihilation.

Our MC gets kidnapped and is forced to play death games. He has to use his wits and body to survive and find the truth. He is not too unfamiliar to this, considering he used to be a swindler. Using your brain to survive is nothing new for him.

MC is extremely intelligent and cunning. Normally you would expect these types of MCs to be like psychopats right? While our MC is not an extremely kind selfless protag, he is also not me me and just me.

He doesnt hesitate to strike... more>> back at people who wronged him but he also doesnt hesitate to repay kindness. He is what I would call a good human being.

The writing of side characters are also incredibly good. I have seen MCs with less writing quality. Normally in most chinese novels, side characters are quite dumb repetative and annoying. In this novel though? They feel human. There are actually intelligent characters here.

The games are fun to read. They are not super easy and boring but also not super complex so you dont say "i have no idea what is going on right now"

And the most important thing is, MC does lose things. This is really important. A common mistake I see in novels are its too smooth sailing. MC always wins at the end and everything goes like he planned. Or the other way around. But in this novel? It feels realistic. He doesnt always win and suffer no setbacks, but it also doesnt feel like the world hates his guts.

Oh also, top notch translation quality. Kudos to the translator

Overall incredibly good novel. Honestly better than any ongoing novel rn.

Hi, translator here. Wanted to write a early review to let everyone know how amazing this novel is. The raws are still ongoing, but I don't think the quality has fallen off at all.

I decided to translate this novel because I loved the story and how each character has been brought to life with their own backstories. It's a well-balanced tale, with the main members each with their individual strong points while having their weaknesses covered by the others. Qi Xia, our MC is extremely intelligent but not at... more>> all OP... I mean we're up against supernatural forces, witts can only bring one so far haha.

About MC:

Spoiler

The story follows Qi Xia, a self-proclaimed swindler, as he navigates the nightmarish realm known as End Point. He has heard from others that escape can only be achieved by collecting 3, 600 round objects known as {Dào}. Given the tight deadline of just ten days, this goal appears dauntingly infeasible—yet he is left with no alternative... or is there?

Initially, Qi Xia presents himself as a lone wolf, claiming to be unfeeling and unsympathetic, regardless of age or gender. Although he engages in a few rash actions from which he learns, he eventually comes to trust a select few individuals. However, this raises questions about his true nature. What seems to be duality in his character—could it be a clever ruse all along?

About MC's 'wife':

Spoiler

She's not real, YNA is actually just a fake person in which our MC hypnotized himself to believe existed. It gets explained later in the novel--- he had done this because he needed a reason to keep himself constantly motivated, constantly reminding himself that he needed to escape. And someone had told him that there were people who would do anything in the name of love.

Regardless, there is no romantic interest in this novel. There are fans who ship certain characters, but none are cannon.

I actually found this novel a year prior. I had contemplated picking this story up then, but because I was juggling three novels then, it was extremely difficult to justify myself. This novel is still ongoing in the original language, yet it has already surpassed one thousand chapters. This would be an arduous endeavor, a task I would need to set aside years to finish; I wasn't up for that back then. It took months of contemplation and completing the rest of my ripritore for me to finally decide to pursue this challenge. In that time, countless MTLers had attempted this novel, but due to the nature of this story--- the detailing, need of consistency, and use of specific language, it never thrived in their hands. Although this novel is completely outside my comfort zone, I will attempt my best to do this novel justice.

Anyways, thanks for giving TDU a try! <<less

Its a good book. You can see the quality of the plot just from first arc itself.

MC has a wife waiting in real world, so chance of romance isvery miniscule imo. Still we need to wait and see.

MC is mature and rational. But like other chinese MC, he does have friends, care about them, etc...

... more>> It will start developing after the first arc.

Even though it is not the type which I will read, as I was hoping for a rather pragamatic and ruthless MC who is smart and rational. But still I can't help but praise the quality. At least first arc was really good. And I enjoyed that. So best of luck guys, You should give it a try imo.

Honestly this book is really interesting. It's a horror mystery novel in which multiple people have been mysteriously transported into an unknown location and made to go through numerous trials. While the premise might seem a little cliche at first it's extremely well written and well translated. The characters and protagonist aren't s*upid and there are many interesting mysteries pervading the story. The horror elements are done really well and the mystery honestly adds a lot to the novel. I can only hope the translator doesn't drop it and the... more>> story's quality stays consistent. Definitely give this a read if you like horror or mystery. <<less

Note: I've read this RAW on Doupocangqiong dot org

I hadn't found such a good novel in a loooong time. I finished reading 1000+ chapters in less than two weeks 🥰🥰🥰

Seriously, I am SO glad I decided to check this novel out. I don't really like reading survival genre stories, cuz they usually end in betrayal and backstabbing, and that's going to make me sad for a week. But this novel? This novel is soooo good, I'm reading the RAW right after. I can't wait! I wanna know what... more>> happened!!! 🤧

This is a story of Qi Xia, a swindler who got forcefully brought into a world of nightmare. There, he had to survive the harsh conditions and play dangerous games with Animal Mask People that could very well claim his life.

I love this novel because the author knows how to write smart characters. You know how sometimes there was a story where the 'hints' clearly led to a certain answer, but the characters in it were completely clueless? Like, say, Ace Attorney series. As a reader, it must be so annoying, right? Even though the clues clearly showed 'he's the culprit', the character still doesn't get it, and we have to guide them step by step to reach the conclusion. But Qi Xia wasn't like that. He was quick on the uptake, catching on to all the hints and clues, and never thought the things he learnt were just coincidences; there was always a connection. He is a clever guy, which kept the pacing of the novel just right. Seriously, Qi Xia felt like Aizen from Bleach, but waaay... WAAAY more cunning. Good job, author~

I really, really liked Qi Xia. Not just because he's smart, but because deep down, he's a good person. Just look at this sentence (but this is Google translated from RAW, so the translation might be a bit wonky) : Qi Xia said, ["I found that not everyone should go to hell, and not everyone should accept this damn reincarnation. I can't bear to see good people struggling in pain here, and I can't bear to see evil people doing evil here forever, so I am ready to liberate these people by my own strength."] Just from that sentence alone, you know that even though Qi Xia was trapped in this terrifying world, he wasn't selfish. Even if it took years, decades even, he would free them. He's not just smart; he's determined. And so, so loyal 🥲

The death games in this novel were all unique, none of them were repetitive. You know the Zodiac circle? The dog, cow, rat, dragon, etc? The games in this novel were divided based on the said animals, where each one has to be completed according to its personality. For example, the loyal Dog's game focuses on teamwork. And the tough Ox's game focuses on strength. The games in this novel sometimes got me hella HYPED because some required muscle, while others blew my mind because they needed calculation and logic (usually in those cases, I had 0% understanding, 100% trust haha. They have math here, dude. I'm bad with that!). None of the games were boring, and none of them were simple either. Even when the story wasn't focused on the main characters, the pacing never dragged on because every game the characters played was always fresh. Plus, the Animal Mask People often lied when they explained the rules, so a game that should've been simple ended up feeling complicated. Well, rather than lying, it was more like 'not explaining things in detail, ' which created loopholes that could be exploited.

Spoiler

For example, in the Escape Room game, they had to collect items while avoiding the enemy. When all the items were collected, the door could be unlocked. The problem was, one of the items they had to collect was hanging on the Animal Mask People's neck itself. This didn't break the rules because the game only said 'collect items, ' not 'the items cannot be hidden.' So the participants had to use their brains and prepare to fight because they had no choice but to face the Animal Mask People head-on.

If I had to choose which game I liked the least, it would be Chengjie Chess, of which Qi Xia and Cu Tianqiu played. I didn't find it interesting. It felt kinda boring for a death match, especially for a semi-final battle. There were a lot of characters involved, but only a few were active. It focused more on 'stealing' the enemy's items than fighting one-on-one too. So what I want to say is, the game was too tame for a semi-final battle, and that was a bummer.

[collapse]

I love, love, LOVE this novel so much aaaaaaa. From the setting, the atmosphere, to the characters with their unique personalities. From beginning to end, this novel always managed to make me think and never be idle. A scene that seemed to be unimportant early on turned out to be a subtle foreshadowing. The author didn't blatantly tell us everything. The information and the world were built up slowly, carefully. The hints were given gradually, and it was satisfying to find out when our guesses were right. This novel was so, SO engaging, even detective genre stories rarely make me think along with the characters. This made the novel even more immersive, and before I knew it, I was already at chapter 800 hahaha.

Spoiler

Oh, I do think Cu Tianqiu's past came up kinda suddenly. It felt like it was just trying to gain the readers' sympathy. I was fine with the fact that he had a girlfriend in the nightmare world (and that his girlfriend's death was the reason why he went mad), but the part about him having a brain tumour felt too sudden. The main character also had a brain tumour, but there were signs of it from early chapters; Qi Xia often got sudden headaches. So when it was revealed that he had a brain disease, the pacing was fine. But for Cu Tianqiu? It still felt forced.

[collapse]

All in all, 10/10. The ending made me cry, huweeee. If this really gets adapted into Donghua, I'll definitely watch it. 🥲👍 <<less

This novel has lots of potential.

I like that the author and translator don't hold back with descriptive "scenes", even though I'm not a big novel reader, they do a good job of captivating me into the chapters. Though I'm only 1/10th into the story, I've enjoyed reading it. The MC is smart, and every character is well-fleshed out and (mostly) likable. I can already tell that it's going to be a fun roller-coaster ride. I could only pray that the translator doesn't drop the novel halfway through because I'm simply... more>> hungry for more TDU.

I highly recommend reading this novel, rating it a 5/5. <<less

Good mystery/horror "survival game" kinda novel

Gonna rate it 5 for now since it is so far definitely above 4 stars, can't say for sure as it is relatively early compared to the actual length of the novel... but it looks very promising

if Author and Translator keeps going with a similar quality this is gonna be great
