When one of the worst things that can happen to the protagonist is being forced to not just sleep with a man but a 'dark-skinned' man. While it's obvious that forcing anyone into s*xual relations is not a good thing, the constant reiteration of having to sleep with a 'dark-skinned' man would be the deal breaker makes me realize the racist nature of the writer and thus the story.

This story is not bad. I’m surprised to see so many 1s here.

On the “dark skinned” man, I think it’s not as much of a racist issue as a class issue. The rich can afford to stay outside the sun and not get tanned. What the antagonist are saying is more of having the FL be “used” by the vulgar poor people.
I’m surprised that this was an issue since many Asian novels do not like tanned people. They don’t think people who are tanned are good looking.

On the story,... more>> it’s about the FL who was rich and a princess surviving after her world is sundered. She leaves university to work as an actress to make ends meat and take care of her ill grandfather. Since she has no backing, the entertainment company she signs on to treat her poorly and many people attack her due to jealousy. She is very pretty as per the usual stereotypes of this genre. She is demonized by the netizens due to many fake accounts of her actions. They believe in gossip without any factual evidence.

The start of the story, she is kicked out of the entertainment circle. The ML goes and gives her money to stay with him. Since she has been loving him for so long, she agrees and the story kicks off. She can be considered a Mary Sue since she was a princes who learned many things leading to university when she had to quit.
The story is of her showing her true self and showing what she can do to reverse the negative views that the netizens have.

This story is definitely not a 1. Reading so far, you can go from a 3 to 5 depending on your preference. Give the story a try. <<less

Haven't finished reading this whole thing yet - but initial thoughts are that there's too much face slapping from Mary-Sue MC. Sure, all female main characters have to be beautiful, smart, and can handle any problem that comes their way - but this novel takes it a little too far.

There's no way a blacklisted artist can overcome her scandals in less than a year. Not to mention MC getting into the top searches every single month or other female characters picking a fight with her, like they didn't know she... more>> overcame all attacks on her. Absolutely ridiculous and doesn't make a lick of sense.

Spoiler

MC's breakup with Vera was so out of the ordinary (based on the other commenter, it doesn't seem like they get back together as friends). After all they've been through, the author makes this decision?? Seriously?? Honestly, I thought Vera was in the right after hearing that MC wanted to semi-retire, like of course she's going to worry about her career. I thought MC's reaction was a little over the top tho, like you couldn't understand what Vera was feeling? Literally when MC was doing the public relations and her getting the Flowers promo back, I thought what was the use of Vera anyways, especially since she's suppose to be this top agent that the president brought back from overseas?? What's with the inconsistency and OP-ness of MC?!

[collapse]

Also thought there would be more romance between ML and MC. But they literally got together by chapter 14, no suspense at all. We don't even know anything about ML - we just know he's this cold CEO person, but worse because there is no other personality to him at all aside from him loving MC. <<less

This is pure blood dog novel with so many face slapping here and there. I personally love face slapping novel so I enjoy this novel so much. But still, this novel genre was usually full of flaws and I'll still point those flaws for the sake of fair review:

Spoiler
  • In the beginning, I thought the author was a bit racist because he/she always mentioned "black-skinned man this" and "black-skinned man that" in the early chapters of this novel. But later, he/she started to change his tune and never mention skin colors again in the next chapters. Maybe because he/she received criticism from the readers? Idk. But I felt more comfortable reading this story after the author changed his/her attitude.
  • The face slapping moments were a bit repetitive. Many looked down on MC because they thought she had no backing and also because she was just high school graduate. Even when it was disclosed that MC was rich after getting her father's share, her enemies seemed always forgetful about that fact. The netizen was also the same. They repeatedly misunderstood MC because of rumours and then MC proved them wrong but not a long later, they began to attack MC again after new rumour surfaced. Those happened over and over again until almost the end of the story, even after the world knew that MC was ML's wife.
  • MC and Vera's broken friendship really caught me off guard. I mean, MC was Vera's benefactor and Vera was always there for MC as her agent and her best friend. And MC really didn't have so many friend at the first place so I really disappointed with the author for making Vera the villain and broke MC's heart. Although later MC forgave her after Vera repented herself, they still couldn't go back to how they used to be anymore. How saddening.

Absolutely a must-read!!!

The mention of a "dark-skinned man" is a bit too much although it would have been implying a dirty, poor man. However, even if readers are dissatisfied about this term, it only comes up in the first few chapters. So there is absolutely no problem with the rest of the story.

The FL is so likable. Her personality and the way she handles her problems is amazing. The ML also is very supportive and does everything he can to make sure she is safe.

It's a romance where they figure... more>> out they had liked each other for several years right from the beginning of the novel. Which is great as I didn't have to go through all the misunderstandings that would have killed me to read.

If you like novel "The Long-Awaited Mr. Han", you would definitely love this. It is similar in that they are both actresses and tend to take their public relations in their own hand with the ML watching out for them in the back. However, the difference is that the FL in this novel has a more lively and childish personality, which the FL in "The Long-Awaited Mr. Han" portrays a more mature outlook. <<less

I like it a lot.

In general, I want to say that this novel is full of chummy scenes between the couple. It's like a full on doting and pampering novel. The ML and FL are very open with their affection and feelings. I say, they both have good communication when they got together and also have a healthy relationship.

At first, I dropped the novel within the first hundred chapters. It's because I felt that everything is very cliche and repetitive. As someone who has read a lot of chinese novels... more>> and was also once addicted to Showbiz (Entertainment) novels, almost everything, if not all, has been depicted and showed in other novels. But I picked it up later as a past time because the translation quality was good and the narration was not boring. I'm glad I did.

I think that this is actually a good read if you're not being picky about the plot being cliche and repetitive, especially for people who is new to this kind of setting. I also think that the more you read, the more it gets entertaining. <<less

I think people are mistaking dark skinned with African/Southeast Asian skin tone. Its referred to the skin tone or darker East Asian skin. So its mostly a class/cast thing. Darker skin = not high up in the social ladder. Fairer = well to do.

Just like how wanting a fairer skin isn't trying to be white but a fair skinned Asian. Unless they say otherwise.

Also I feel like the Author is dark skinned so she is putting her hate on all the characters with dark skin. Subconsciously she is hating on... more>> herself. Because I've never seen so much empathies on skin colour as an identity of a character. Unless the character description calls for it.

Spoiler

"Yuning, I have good news for you. The company has decided that you no longer need to pay them any damages for the breach of contract—" The agent had gathered all of his courage to shamelessly make the phone call to Jiang Yuning. "As long as you agree to spend the night with a dark-skinned customer who is interested in you, then the company will immediately write off the sixty million yuan that you owe them."

Similar to the Long-awaited Mr. Han. I fell in love with the novel. But too much unnecessary face slapping and too many cannon fodder. The netizens here are too much, to the point that it wasn't realistic anymore, like how they praise you in that chapter, then bashed again online then saying sorry after they know the truth. But other than that it's one of the novels that I am willing to read until the last chapter.

The story actually quite standard, but it's still a good read anyway and it's a happy ending one

It's all about love, romance, loyalty, wit, and how to be a decent person., it's a novel with love & warmth

Like below review, yes the novel kinda similar with "The Long Awaited Mr Han", because Jiang Yuning is an actress that has high PR capability. She always been attacked by the netizen and then face slapping all with her skill & resources.....

PS : don't mind the above review about dark skinned man cuz... more>> it's not of any importance in the novel <<less
