Survival Game in an Angsty Novel

I accidentally transmigrated into a bunch of old-school dog-blood tragedy stories.

I am the villain, the canary, the tragic cannon fodder who is tortured by the protagonist to the point of death.

My goal is simply to survive until the ending.

But there’s always a protagonist trying to take my kidney.

For example, the cold and aloof CEO in front of me, who, in order to save the “white moonlight” in his heart, is pinning me to the wall, frowning as he asks: “Can you donate a kidney to him?”

I: “……”

I: “I can donate my appendix.”

“It’s inflamed anyway.”

This story is also known as “The Salted Fish’s Winning Strategy” and “Those Years I Was Recklessly Self-Sabotaging in Tragedy Novels.”

——————————————

1. The entire story takes place in a fictional setting with no relation to reality.

2. The main character travels through different worlds by themselves from start to finish, and the story is not episodic.

3. Hehehehe, small interface, happy endings (HE) for all.

4. Each “interface” represents a fragment of the protagonist’s soul, and the logic has been consumed by the author.

5. The synopsis describes the plot of one of the interfaces, which may not appear at the beginning of the story but might show up in the middle or towards the end. Please proceed with caution if this bothers you.

To me the first story was the depth, it had everything that I want to see in a novel, because the first one was written so well you kinda felt the ones follows after feels very lacking.

Alot of things doesn't make sense till late on in the novel where things get piece to together.

I find the novel very interesting, it has good mechanisms to draw you into reading it with anticipations.

MC really going through 7 life through thick and thin. The first story was the one with most angst, till... more>> the end arc. ML was your daily yandere, he is possessive and can't tolerate betrayal because of his past~

Alot of Brain work MC have to do to navigate situations as he doesn't get much help earlier on.

Having a MC Gong is really a nice change of pace, pushing down ML in every arc is a such appealing pleasure xD <<less

I enjoyed this story so so much!

The plot is tightly written and I was on the edge of my seat as our clever MC fought for his life world after world. I like that the MC isn't OP and that he actually has to carefully strategize in order to beat the survival game.... more>>
Spoiler

I liked that even his system was unreliabe.

. I've read other stories where the MC is randomly transmigrated into the body of a s*umbag character and they have to white wash themselves but I think the way that this story does it is the best. The MC doesn't always rely on acting pitiful to gain sympathy nor does everyone including the ML automatically like/forgive his character for the evil things he's done. The MC really has to work to reverse his character's predestined tragic ending. I can't tell you how much I appreciate a story that is logical and engaging.

I really liked the ML too. Although his character settings are different in each world like the MC's, I liked that at his core he's a ruthless but infatuated character. He can be tough and cruel but he isn't outright evil and when he falls, he falls hard. I liked seeing the MC eventually grow to pamper him in each world after all the hardships he has to endure. While each world has a happy ending, ngl I definitely cried in some arcs because the angst was just so good.

Here's a breakdown of the worlds and some notes:

Spoiler
  1. Gold-digging mistress x scorned CEO: this might have been my fave arc because it was just so thrilling and intense all the way through and I liked how many times he had to reset to get it right. I absolutely sobbed when the ML lamented that he had never been loved his entire life.
  2. Lecherous prince x abandoned political pawn: the political intrigue was more interesting than I thought it would be lol. I liked that the MC created a fake identity.
  3. Useless male insect x elite military female insect: the hidden assassin plot line was a nice addition.
  4. Rich playboy x poor student: I felt so bad for the ML who kept misunderstanding the MC and was so happy when he finally achieved his happiness.
  5. Broke internet scammer x ghost-like creature pretending to be human: I adored the MC's little brother. This arc made me wished the MC had more family members in the other arcs because the interactions they had were hilarious and cute. I think in this arc the ML suffers the least and I loved that for him.
  6. Emperor stand-in x loyal general: it was interesting making the ML's character already like the MC and adding the twist of rebirth.
  7. The origin story set in a cultivation world
[collapse]

This story is a must read especially for those who enjoyed The Rescue of the Tragic Villain is In Progress because they're of the same quality and share similar settings. <<less

I decided to stop at Arc 1.

Let me just say, this novel is a masterpiece! The character writing, the plot—it’s incredible. Just when I thought I had the storyline figured out, the author completely surprised me with so many unexpected twists.

The reason I chose to stop at this beautiful first arc isn’t because I didn’t like the rest. It’s because I’ve grown so attached to the characters and this world that moving on to a new one feels like betraying them, even though it’s still the same MC and ML.... more>> That’s how powerful the characters are, especially the ML. He broke my heart so many times. His life and his psychology are so shattered that it makes you cry endlessly, to the point I’ve had fits of anger toward the MC. There’s nothing worse than someone toying with your feelings.

The ending of this arc was a bit abrupt, but it’s a QT novel, so I can’t complain too much.

I’ll come back to read the other arcs, but for now, I’m still deeply attached to World 1. From what I’ve seen in the reviews, though, you should definitely continue reading. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! <<less

The nature of the story is very interesting and different from others. The romance between the MC and the ML was heartfelt, no instant love. The progress from the start to finish was satisfying for me. I loved the 1st arc best. Needs some extra stories.

DEFINITELY TO BE READ AGAIN!!!!

Woahh, it was truly an incredible journey... It was great how every sentence in the novel was connected. The mystery was quite nice and confused me a bit, especially towards the end. I'm not kidding when I say every sentence spoken is connected!!!

I rarely write reviews, and when I saw how little there was for this novel, I wanted to add one.

I won't go into that since someone already wrote a detailed review for the arcs, but the summary only gives information for one arc and... more>> is not actually a full summary of the novel. I say this because if I had seen this summary on NU, I might not have paid attention. Well... if you like heartless (literally) mc's and a little heartache, this novel is a must-read!!!!

(I'm not a native English speaker, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes) <<less

Folks we went one whole cycle with this one. It's not a very unique story, but true to the title, it is angsty. Despite ML being a super paranoid boyfriend, it is not an abusive story but a mutual pampering story so people worried please rest assured. He just bites sometimes. The ab*sed ones are us readers.

The only arc ML actively tries to kill MC is in the 1st arc.

[collapse]

Let me preface that I didn't read the tag of who's the top so imagine my surprised when the super domineering ML got pinned down by the salted fish MC.

The main cp's dynamic is quite typical of a lazy gentleman gong x obsessive madman shou. I'm starting to wonder if majority of the top protagonist novel authors love this specific troupe since most danmeis I've read with top protags have a similar dynamic.

Arc wise, imo the first arc was the best. It was so well written that it overshadowed the rest of the arcs and placed a set of expectations that the rest didn't meet. It was packed with action and thrill, making cycles within that arc not boring. The author made us so attached to them in the first arc that the romance in subsequent worlds just didn't feel the same even if we know they are the same souls. It didn't help that their character profiles were different
Spoiler

not to mention MC locked all his memories

[collapse]
so it didn't seem like the same pair anymore. This novel felt more like a series of short stories with couples of similar dynamic rather than a series of same soul transmigerations.

Although each arc's premise was well thought, there were some inconsistencies that shone through especially after finishing the whole story. I do wish the author invested more time in world building and creating the timeline.
Spoiler

Despite knowing they are fated, some arcs still made me question how they even had time to fall in love considering the high risk factor. It didn't help that the MC was a lust first, romance later person so some arcs felt like he developed stockholm syndrome in a suspension bridge effect to save his life.

[collapse]

Honestly I would've rather the author expanded on the first story and didn't disconnect each arc from one another so there wouldn't be a sense of disparancy. Overall only the first story made me cry, but I can see the rest being heart wrenching for others.

If I rated it only from the first arc I'll give a solid 5stars, but the rest of the arcs just wasn't as captivating. Wouldn't place it above other transmigeration novels but give it a try if you are in the mood to read a novel with a lot of melodrama. <<less

Warning: Gong MC + Yandere ML, the kind that harms MC.

Finished reading the 1st arc.

I enjoyed the early part with how MC tried hard to survive from being killed by ML, it's like reading a thriller novel. Then they began to fall in love with each other and... Honestly I can't comprehend how MC even fell for ML. Can you really fall for someone who killed you? Someone who lets you experience excruciating pain?

Can't refute that the plot is exciting though. The MC is also smart and interesting, no sudden... more>> cheat or being lucky (in fact, he's unlucky) and have everything fall to his lap. No ML who instantly love him and will do everything for him. But at the same time, it made me feel aggrieved that such a good MC got a paranoid, psychopath ML.

Sure, ML had tragic background and pitiful in his own way, but that doesn't justify the harm he did to MC. It's like the typical kind-hearted heroine x abusive domineering CEO all over again, just this time MC is the top and ML is bottom. <<less

If most qt BL novels are bland, then this one surely isn't. It will make you feel stuff. Even though I'm really not into gong protagonists, it didn't stop me from enjoying the story. I was hooked right from the first chapter.

MC (gong) is very sweet and patient. He surely isn't cold and emotionless, at least not towards ML. He's good at coaxing ML. I have to say, I often felt really bad for him. He always has to suffer for the sins of the previous owner, which is very... more>> unfair.

About ML, I know y'all will fight me for this, but that's just how I see it.

You know that type of a very possesive ML who wants to kill any person that gets close to mc? Well, this ML is like this, but the opposite. He wants to killl MC whenever he's jealous. Not even in a metaphorical sense, but LITERALLY wants to kill. ML is very insecure and he often takes it out on MC. MC can do the absolutely sweetest thing for ML, yet ML will interpret it the way that makes MC look like the worst s*um alive. Basically ML blames MC for something out of nowhere, MC coaxes him and explains him the situation, yet ML is still mad and doesn't have any self-reflection. Most of the time it seems more as if ML hated MC to the core instead of loving him. To his defense he's traumatised and MC doesn't really mind him being like this, but I still think that it's not fair for MC. He sometimes even has to suffer for being "too perfect". People are saying that ML's personality is different in each arc, and in my opinion his character is very similiar, he always wants to stab MC or cut his throat. I feel like MC changes his personality more than ML. That's just how I see it, but the interpretation of a character depends on a reader.

The story is good and I recommend you go read it. I just had to vent for what made me unhappy, but besides that I had a good time reading it. <<less

I never left any review before. But this novel is so amazing that I couldn't help but leave review. I never read such an amazing QT before. Each story was curved so well. I shed tears. I couldn't predict what will happen next. It's so unique from the typical system stories. They didn't rush with the reincarnation. As if I could feel the emotion through the screen. I strongly recommend this. This is an absolute gem.

Loving what I'm reading so far! This story takes what feels like a common premise and approach and makes it feel new and unique. You don't know what's going to happen and you can't wait to see what the MC will do next. I can't wait to see where this goes
