Definitely a worth reading novel. Its more of a slife of life of Fang Zhao who reincarnated after 500 years of New Era.

Its funny how everyone else keep reminding him to be calm, humble etc but Fang Zhao's soul is old enough to be calm at all times and there is that symphony thing playing inside his head😂😂😂 He is not your typical MC who is attention seeker. He is the type that prefers being in the background but others keep pulling him to be in the frontline😂😂 He just... more>> wants to enjoy his second life.

And the story is good. It doesnt focus on just composing songs. Its a differnt story each arc. Like the music arc, gaming arc, and military arc... Definitely worth reading tho I wish there will be exciting an arc. I mean the story is good but it doesnt have the blood boiling arc that excites the reader. I want some bloody actions or some romance. I dont care just make it exciting enough to keep the readers reading😅😅

And Zaro is definitely likeable character😂 I cant stop laughing everytime he appears😂😂😂 he is my favorite side chara😂😂💕 <<less

Easily got hooked by Fang Zhao's character. Slander him? That sh*t isn't important in his days. There are too many people supporting him.

MC's dog rising in fame is fine. His alien pet rising in fame is fine too. But do they really have to be also OP? This is just my problem. I am fine with just MC alone having amazing skills. I just hope things won't really get ridiculous.

I’m pretty sure everyone has already read this before, but here goes (this explanation has a bit about the backstory) :

The world was ending. He original population of 8 billion had turned into 80 million, and plants, animals, and humans alike mutated to become halbringers of death. It became a international war—no matter what your profession was, you were drafted to become a soldier for the nation, to fight the mutated beasts that roamed the land. Though this, 12 generals emerged to turn the tide—the 12 martyrs. After 100... more>> years of fighting, the period of devastating war came to be known as the Period of Destruction. In the aftermath, Global leaders formed a single alliance of 12 continents. Life flourished once again, and the 12 martyrs were honoured every year by the people they had liberated.

Our story follows Fang Zhao.

He was one of the 12 martyrs, and also one of the most famous. However he died right before the war ended, and reincarnated into the body of another Fang Zhao, 500 years into the future. Through memories, he learns that this 23 year old composer (both Zhaos’ profession) lived in an era of peace and prosperity because of the martyrs. Being the sensible man that he was, he integrated himself into the life of the recently suicidal composer, and quickly brought him to fame.

our MC IS GREAT!! He isn’t arrogant or annoying, and is calm like a rock. Literally. Basically, nothing fazes him, and he has mad talent. Because he had fought in the war, Fang Zhao had the best martial arts, judgement, and technique in the entire world, but carefully hid it to not expose his identity. Lots of people tell him to not get too full of himself, but that never even happens anyway.

my favourite arc is probably he gaming one. A game came out, based on the period of destruction. Everything was simulated, including the living conditions. Naturally, Fang Zhao unleashes his inner demon and kills everything (which was funny because everyone thought he was the artsy type) and is hailed as gaming god.

I also liked the military one—he destroys a lot of things.

however, the irony of the current one is beyond amusing. People are making the tv series of the century, and it’s practically a completely accurate documentary of the... you guessed it.... PERIOD OF DESTRUCTION!! and Fang Zhao is cast as his old self, general Fang Zhao. It was soooo funny for people the think, ‘ wow He’s so similar to general Fang! It’s like he knows him!’ I just can’t—

overall, this is a good read. There’s some informations dumps that are not necessary, and the pace is a little slow, but it’s all worth it when Fang Zhao’s killing intent comes out! <<less

The story was going perfectly and had both interesting characters and the story. MC in particular definitely stands out amongst the reincarnated MC. Usually reincarnated MC usually turn into 15-years old harem protagonists that think like those of his new body age... other than being overpowered and having great knowledge they are pretty much normal. Here however it really feels that MC is the same MC that we learned about in the first chapter and even if he was now 22 years old living in completely different environment, his 100... more>> years long experience definitely stick into him. As he is reincarnated he doesn't recive any super powers or anything but all he accomplishes comes from his skills that he earned like "any normal person".

Sadly at some point the story starts going off track really far. MC used to be music composer and when he reincarnated into new body he started off with that and that portion of story is just great... best off all it makes perfect sense that as someone who lived through "that era" he would make perfect musical pieces that would reflect that era. Sadly while music remains the front note for the most part we suddenally get "dog days" arc, which was still alright as it was MC's dog being in spotlight while MC was doing his composing in the background. Still at point which I reach and started to write review, the story suddenally switched to gaming for whatever reason. I understood MC wanting to blow off the steam perfectly and wanting to relive the old days by killing some things but just few chapters ago it turned into MC inviting players to form up a team for the gaming competitions. In this moment I am like WTF? I personally enjoy gaming storylines a lot even if most of them are flawed, speaking of e-sport though the king's avatar one of best stories on this website. So yea, I like those stories... STILL what I don't like is that the story that had little to do with gaming suddenally became a gaming storyline. Such sudden shift is really too much. Really what is with those stories that are about music that suddenally turn into wrong direction... last time I read a great storyline whose 100 chapters was about young MC introducing piano into the world and becoming famous by stealing real world pieces but after 100 chapters it suddenally turned into typical magic world storyline similar to Warlock of the Magus World.

It's a shame really because there aren't many good series like this that are being translated... the only two I can think of is the god of cooking and I am really superstar... in any case hopefully this gaming part won't last long. <<less

It reads fluently. Superb translation quality, great musical descriptions despite not being so technical, every trope (such as the reincarnation cheat or face slapping) is implemented in a somewhat modest and appropriate way. The characters are all somewhat realistic, no real infuriating illogical characters out there. Occasionally great comedy. #shepherdlife

The story is one dimensional. It's about the protagonist and he's great at everything. Well, it should have sides to it other than music but... Character development for the protagonist and side characters? World building? Not all that great. No real... more>> antagonists, no tension? Check.

Probably the worst novel by this author, Chronicles of the Primordial War and Star Rank Hunter are better.

Somewhere between 2 and 3, I enjoyed some of it so it'll be a 3. But not a wholehearted one. <<less

I love the MC's character and that most other characters do have brain.

Though I can't rate this 5 star because this story is... too safe? The general feeling is more like slice-of-life's easy storyline. There is no antagonist nor hurdle which would lead to a satisfying read when the MC solve them.

tl;dr : Good MC, story is a bit dull but passable as casual read/time waster.

I was not expecting much from this when I started. I mean, what do apocalypse and monsters have to do with being a composer...? And then all this digital idol stuff... I came here after reading god of music and top management, I'm looking for more human drama, right?

*Update as of chapter 93: The new arc is really boring... downgrading to a 3 star. It doesn't make any sense either. All about the dog and shepherding and the music just got left by the wayside for a while. Hope it... more>> gets better again....

... despite that, I gave it a try, and colour me impressed! The author is witty and, more importantly, creative. He comes up with really interesting situations that you aren't expecting and then delivers with a badass MC exceeding people's expectations model.

For example, he gets a bit wacky with his song ideas, the hehe or the tree with the epic music. Some of it comes off as a bit forced and strictly speaking, I prefer the delivery of the more vanilla top management or god of music. Still, this is definitely more creative in some ways and the writing style of the author keeps the series grounded and not too unbelievable. Another spark of creativity is the pressure through praise tactics of his competitors, which I quite enjoyed.

Also important to me, the MC doesn't have 'cheat' abilities. This is a reincarnation type series, but no added superpowers (as of where I am, though I'm wondering where curly hair is going to go)

And talking about curly hair, I really like the supporting cast. Not only are many of the singers male, which is a nice reprieve from the plastic, somewhat harem nature of the korean equivalents, but Superstars of Tomorrow also has some interesting characters from older generations and social classes who I am finding quite real and a cute dog.

The setting is fresh, if not unique, mixing together sci-fi and corporate culture with a few chinese social details.

One of the reasons I give this 4 stars instead of 5 though is that I'm still not sure about the use of the setting. Even if this apocalypse happened, it's weird that it's so popular in media.

There are also some weird time related inconsistencies seeing that 500 years went by, but the author treats it like 100 years (even considering the changed lifespans).

I have some other quibbles with the setting. The author seems to have not thought of a number of things, one major one being AI. The sci-fi setting is fun, but somewhat lacking in depth.

One of the great things about this series is the comedy. Tons of hilarious moments in here while avoiding any slapstick. For the English version, this is partly because of the skill of the translators who managed to translate the humour, which leads me to...

Writing style/translation

The writing style is good and I'm particularly impressed by the translator or proofreader at Qidian International who has not only delivered good grammar but also somehow managed to get some witty wordplay in there from time to time.

The use of the right word at the right time can really make or break a scene and Qidian is doing a good job in the English version. I'm not sure if this is the translator finding just the right ways to capture the ideas in English, or the proofreader's creativity to bring the most out of the English, but either way, great job!

On top of that quality, release rate is fast.

Have to mention the $ figures though... either there was lots of inflation or there's some kind of exchange rate that's not being applied. All the amounts seem like they would work if divided by 10. <<less

If you come here expecting top management novel, then you will get a knock off sci-fi version...

Thinking you will get gundam or macross with the war and idol? Nope! The mecha is just in a very tiny bits of the story... just mentioned in the passing in the beginning.

Futuristic world building? the setup is interesting but things get glazed over so much in favour of praising glory of the MC.

There ain’t much action nor goal in the book. Seriously it felt more like I’m reading a bible to praise fangzhao... more>> cult. There is not much struggle nor character growth.. it’s just OP MC.. worship him. The better arc is still the beginning, things get so all over the place after that. Also the author doesn’t explain many things eg why music and war is important in this world. Or why the war happened/what happen exactly during the war. Then again I dropped it at 100.. perhaps get better later on but nah no thanks.

In conclusion don’t read it if you come with the wrong expectation like me.. Honestly I felt it’s such a waste.. the world setup is interesting but the author chose to instead focus on the unimportant things and I GET IT ALREADY the MC is awesome.. stop repeating it. <<less

I like this story isn't about music all the time. Someone wrote a review criticizing this, because he expected just "music composition". Although the music part isn't bad, but I think it would be incredibly boring to read about this throughout the entire novel.

Also there is a justifiable reason, why the MC is good at all the things he has done in this novel (at least until chapter 135). Yes he is a music composer, but he had to survive and train in an apocalyptical world. So yeah, he can... more>> handle a weapon very well and has good fighting skills. I especially enjoyed these parts of the novel the most.

What I didn't like is MC's behaviour. He is somehow more like a robot and not like a human beeing. He doesn't feel "alive" for me. I can't pinpoint exactly why I feel this way though.

There is also a lack of interaction. He doesn't has as many dialogues as I expect from a MC. There is only the bare minimum of conversation between MC and other characters, just enough to fulfill his duty. Of course, the talks contain "business" related topics most of the time.

I need more emotion. I want him to be more alive.

I can't even imagine him to have something like romance going on. By the way, there was no romance at all. If there is a girl in the future, I think the romance would feel forced and artificial or the author decides to give him a completely different personality.

Either way, both things are bad.

The story is okay and the fighting related parts even got me excited. Everything was fine, until the dog arc. This is maybe one of the worst, awkward and most uninteresting arc I've ever read in a chinese novel. Worst of all, there is no conclusion to the dog arc until now. It is intertwined within the story and pops up suddenly between other arcs. It is like the sword of Damocles.

The dog arc is about sheep herding and yes, it is as interesting as it sounds. No, maybe it is even worse.

Also I didn't like the seldom, but occasionally descriptive story progression. I don't want to read a history book :D Okay it isn't as bad, but I didn't like the manner it was handled. <<less

The story is getting better and better. Yeah no romance, no drama much, but I really enjoy the story. It's not comedy either, but I laughs on certain part. This story become something that I cannot miss to read everyday. See what others surprise that appear to the others.

Of course not all part is interesting. Sometime how the writer explain things are too much and too long as I don't care about it anyway, so I skip reading those. But yeah, nice story.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This... more>> is how I understand him. As I survive workload and work stress on the pass, suddenly the new challenge seem small. Even it's almost lead me to depression, but now I'm so thankful for that. <<less

I have a bad feeling about this. I've read Star Rank and Chronicles from the same author, no romance, just pure story and plot twist and always open ending.

Fairly interesting premise but the content-to-filler ratio is bad once the MC becomes a bona fide celebrity. It's a slice of life without much of a plot beyond building up his celebrity empire, so continue reading only if you enjoy that or the filler-esque scenes of flaunting and face-slapping.

Every time he does something notable, the author has to let us know the entire world's reaction, like every other generic entertainment world novel. Not only that, but everyone remotely related to him has to have their moment too, like his grandparents... more>> boasting to others. It gets old.

If I wanted to read page after page of praises from sycophantic fans and petty drama between celebrities (and their fans), I'd stick to stalking the Kardashians' social media. This isn't what made me get into the novel.

Nonetheless, it's surprisingly enjoyable when I stock up and binge-read. That way my annoyance with the filler is spread out over multiple chapters instead of concentrated in one update. <<less

i was expecting something like a music version of True Star (without the BL) or God of Music but this is something different. not bad, just very different from what I expected and kind of... random. like the write just started pounding away with a vague idea and then went wherever s/he felt like it with no actual planning or outline to follow.

lots of slice of life. its not really a 'struggling up through the ranks to become famous' kind of novel but for all its randomness and its MC... more>> who can do everything well it's an entertaining read so far. <<less

I love this novel, and almost everything about it. The mature protagonist, the non violent young masters. The MC gets to do what he wants, not because of the plot forcing him.

The only problem I hated was the ignorance of the future people, forgetting even elementary stuff yet calling themselves the smarter versions of their predecessors.

The main problem I had with this novel was the obsession of MC with past. Always around when they glorify his past friends, having declared he moved on but still coming back, can only like... more>> old technology.

The most triggering thing in this novel is how everybody treats MC like a toddler, giving him advice to not be hauty and arrogant because he's too young. If it's once or twice it's kindness, but here it becomes pointless nagging every two chapters. I just hate how he can't stop it even though it's pointless concern. <<less

Oh my one my fave novel where I dont mind pay to read the latest chapter, its about a composer who living in apocalypse era and die (older), after that he transmigration to another body (younger) with same name Fang Zhao in in the future. The main MC was calm and kinda charismatic although he not handsome, almost no romance and there many funny adventure await him.

I love this series. It is the only series that I didn’t get bored with after 50 characters. The chapters are substantial and both the writing and translations are good. On that note this series is not a serious one. If is amusing and doesn’t run out of new materials.

The MC lacks much character development (he is over 100 years old) and is extremely op but his stoic nature is amusing in contrast to the supporting characters’ reactions. Overall it is a good read.
