Very generic zombie apocalypse novel, made worse with the addition of a LITRPG system- regardless of how much damage you do to a zombie etc, so long as the HP value is high enough it will stay alive. Also has zombie evolutions, mutant animals and giant insects. I appreciate the author making his parents house next to a police station so as to magic away any "I must hurry to my parents side!" plot lines- but then there's nothing to fill the gap and the story just feels aimless right... more>> from the start- he has a system, he kills stuff, the end.

What really dropped the score for me was the fact this is your standard arrogant/conceited author who thinks they're smart and so make their MC have a higher than average intelligence stat (also wtf, otaku with 13 agility? Most otaku are fat homebodies with no athletic bones in their bodies!) to reflect their belief, but then the MC is sub-average intelligence doing some really s*upid sh*t and somehow doing fine. Idiot proofing the MC is a really shitty way to do things.

Also- it was noted that you can use 'Life Essence' once per day and yet at whatever chapter before the one I dropped this on, he stuffs a bunch in his mouth.

Examples:

Spoiler

MC complains about the reach of his weapon and makes a spear- he finds a perfectly good one and a half meter mop and rather than using his knife to carve the end into a point he instead uses tape and strips of cloth to attach a knife to the end of it- complaining along the way about how the knife might snap off or the tape will lose it's adhesive properties because of blood (completely ignoring the fact the cloth will absorb blood and become heavier.

MC tries to come up with a way to not get bitten against a group of zombies- and so, in a tropical climate, he proceeds to wear all available clothing in his and his dorm mates wardrobes. Dropping his agility stat from 20 to an effective 12 and causing him to sweat (and tire faster) - anyone with basic intelligence would use magazines and tape- but given that these zombies seem a fair bit stronger than normal, anything he does is really pointless and he should instead rely on high agility to avoid.

[collapse]

Good things the MC did that were somewhat-smart;

Spoiler

Packed textbooks into suitcases to create a barricade, then proceeded to pour water over the suitcases (apparently not very good suitcases since 99% of suitcases I've ever seen are waterproof) so the suitcases and textbooks (again most textbooks are waterproof?) to make them weigh more- suspending my disbelief for this one.

The other smart thing he did was to gather all containers in his dorm room and fill them with water- but for some reason he didn't bother going to every dorm room he had already cleared out and done it there also? I get he's got a 3 day mission to get out of the dorm, but the mission doesn't say he can't ever go back inside and even if he doesn't, it's not a bad idea to have a water cache for later or to give information on to others as a trade. Whenever a disaster hits- always stock up as much water as you can, buckets, bottles, basins, tr*sh cans- FILL THEM UP -you will run out of water WAY faster than food.

[collapse]

So yeah- this is some bare bottom of the barrel stuff here. I think even voting it 2.0 is being generous on my part- don't read this, it's not worth it. If you insist on reading it because like me, you've read almost literally everything else short of MTL and/or have too much time on your hands- the first chapter is MTL'd, but after that it gets loads better. <<less
