The story starts quite interesting, with interesting and quirky Sprites personalities providing comic relief to training and battles, with some development in regards to friends and potential love interests.

Unfortunately, the good start leads to nothing.

The story deteriorates into endless repeating cycle of battles/tournaments that are completely one sided, training becomes as boring as pressing "advance" button, with friends and love interests being left behind and forgotten.

Honestly this had to potential to be 4 or even 5 star story in its own niche scene within web novel community. Jokes were decent (I'll elaborate little more later), story was kind of mellowly interesting, pacing was good.. Maybe it was lacking in world building a little but hey compared to the usual crap we read this was genuinely close to top tier.

So what went wrong then? Simply put: Translation. First ~380 chapters were translated.. In a very odd manner to be honest. Spelling was good, flow was great,... more>> formatting could be said to be excellent.. However.. It felt like the translator had never actually translated a web novel before. A lot of the jokes from original were quite literally castrated, many names/forms etc. Were completely butchered and then I'm pretty sure the translator just straight off left parts out. Many relevant things like nicknames and power levels were just completely f*cked up.

I mean, the way the book was written was little weird anyways- like author just deciding to bring up a REALLY RELEVANT term out of blue and we were expected to understand it at the time, only to proceed to explain the term maybe 2-3 chapters later. Adding on the confusion from translation it was just a clusterf*ck of events that took way more brainpower to plow through than it really should of needed.

After the first 380 chapters and later from 420+ there were also changes in translation team (obviously the first one just gave up on it and decided to end his struggle) and it really quickly went downhill there. Or rather fell of a cliff. It was basically just either MTL level or total walls of texts formatted like their actual purpose was to give the reader a brain aneurysm. That's also where I decided it was enough for now.

So what the conclusion? Do not read this. Not at its current form anyway. Give this story a really thorough editing going side-by-side with the raws, maybe have a top tier novel translator from the community help and it would be a banger of a slice of life type pokemon -esque / semi-comedic adventure story that would pull mad readers. Unfortunately this just isn't going to happen. So don't waste your time, there are lot of better stuff out there. <<less

The translation was pretty decent for the first half, but after that, it became horrible. Names and terms were changed, a lot of mistakes and incomprehensible sentences. I tried to put up with it, but I just couldn't stand it. It was hard to understand at this point.

The story itself was alright, albeit a bit repetitive. I didn't like how "human" the pets acted. Pets learning to read/write, play games, have their own cellphones? I found that rather dumb. It would've been alright if it were only a couple unique... more>> pets, but it seemed that almost all pets have human level intelligence.

As a story revolving around pets, I found it a bit silly that it didn't have any form of pet storage (pokeballs, pet cards, contract book... etc.). It pointlessly complicated the story, especially considering how large some pets can get.

Because of how OP the protagonist was, everyone else around him fades quickly. Even his family and friends, they were relegated to being forgotten side characters.

And like many Chinese novels, it's not free of nationalism, and racism. The latter being a bit subtle for a change. <<less

I would have to say... not bad.

As an expert at monster/pet cultivation stories, this is above average. The MC is indeed super OP and his power level gets a bit ridiculous at times, however, the characterization of the MC's first two pets is rather funny and interesting. I was continuing to read solely due to the MC's first pet which is perhaps a pet character with the most personality in all the monster/pet cultivation stories that I have read.

But, I will still suggest people give it a read for the first few chapters just to have a laugh with that cute first pet. <<less

The novel has an interesting concept but marred with inconsistencies and repetitive arcs. Would have given the novel a 3 star (or max 4) depending on how the last 270+ chapters or so but the translation took a further dive, making the novel even more unreadable. The translation was already shaky for the first 380+ chapters, butchering the comic element and style of the novel but it just got worse. A rather disappointing end to my reading experience.
