I would rate 5 stars for the first world and Mercury's original world, and 3 for arc #2 and #3, and 3.5 for the rest of the story. 3.5 stars because I would recommend giving those story arcs a try, but I wouldn't be interested in re-reading it after the first time.

The concept of the story is very interesting. It's a protest against the Chinese government for both pushing women to have children and reducing women's rights, which end up causing them terrible, sometimes fatal harm.

Story-wise, the first arc was... more>> great because Mercury is taking action against the people that ab*sed and brainwashed the original owner, and she does it in a very clever way by using their biases against them. She is the epitome of fearless rage, and she will go against the system without regard to cost. Her emotions are so intense.

But, I slowly lose interest in the next two arcs because Mercury quickly leaves the original owner's bad situation and is apathetic to the original characters of each world. They ruin their lives without Mercury doing anything. And, if the protagonist doesn't care, why should I care as the reader?

As for the second half of the novel,
Spoiler

the system has shifted to putting Mercury in a child's body in each world and using her real life experience as inspiration to try to crush her spirt, but it has no effect at all. In each story arc, the system only appears to announce the plot at the beginning and the death of the original characters at the end and some token efforts to persuade Mercury to accept, but nothing like the first half of the novel. Its like an employee that's about to retire and going through the motions.

It would be too depressing and exhausting to read if Mercury has to fight every moment in every story arc like in the first story arc, but I don't know. It feels like watching back-to-back beach/hot spring episodes in an anime. The story arcs in the second half of the novel end up being vacations for Mercury.

I like that Mercury is very resourceful and that the author shows that things that seem unsurmountable when you're a child becomes easy as adult. While MC is active in getting revenge in these worlds, she's emotionally detached about the revenge. We get to see that she's a protector of vulnerable children, which is relevant for the reveal in the final arc.

In the final world, we find out that Mercury's original world

is a dystopian world where the government starts brainwashing girls at the age of 4 that the government owns their uterus, and its their duty to get married to a government assigned husband and have children once they're adults. Women that go against this will be given the choice of death or being locked up in cages, artificially inseminated, and forced to give birth until menopause. Of course, this chapter is locked on JJWXC

As early as the second arc, we see that Mercury can be caring and patient with children. And so, it make so much sense when find out in that final story arc that

Spoiler

Mercury is teacher. When her innocent students ask her if what they're being taught is right, she doesn't want to let them down and perpetuate the brainwashing, so she tells them what she really thinks, and that's how she gets caught and imprisoned.

In other stories, the MC might chose to not have children for personal reasons, but for Mercury, she doesn't want any child to be born in this dystopia and suffer.
