This was one of the first wuxia novels I read so it has a special place in my heart so take this review with a grain of salt.

I've re-read SOTR 2-3 times now while waiting for chapters to accumulate so that I can go on a massive binge but the translator does such a good job at releasing very frequently so if your the type of person that needs a chapter everyday, you'll be at home.

If you're looking for something new from a xianxia, this probably isn't the one for... more>> you. Asides from the unusual intro, much of the story goes through the same things as other xianxia. The main character has the super knowledge from his past life that he uses to train and become stronger, then uses that strength to beat down the people who insulted him or his friends. While the premise and structure are the same, I think that the story is well written (translated well too) and shows us some of the more trivial things of life. While others might not like that and think that it slows the pace of the story, I like that interaction. It builds the world around the MC as he destroys everyone in it. Not only is the world fleshed out, but the characters are too. It feels like side characters actually have personality and are not going to be thrown out in the next chapter.

TL;DR: IMO the story is very well written even though it similar to the other wuxia novels out there <<less

Hello, reader of this message!

So far reading SOTR to 1001 chapters have been very fun!

The are many things to enjoy reading this novel. But there is some repetitive-ness like any other types of novels with cultivation, like dumb villains. But, its a thing to enjoy the great things the MC does!

Yoo! Happy 1000th Chapterversary!

This novel is good enough that I am still reading it, plus the translator has always done good work.

So if you want a novel that tickles a bit of your reincarnation wuxia faceslapping without being too heavy on the past life, this is a good pick up.

Pretty interesting novel, the MC is likeable. The story has it's interesting moments but at some times it can get a little boring especially when e know for sure that the MC is going to win because the villains tend to be easy to beat or trick, but maybe there will one that will offer a challenge towards the end, will have to wait and see. Overall it's pretty good and I would recommend it.

The MC is badass, but also a typical MC, he's very intelligent and loyal to his friends, but very harsh against his enemies.

There's nothing particularly special about the novel, but it's a very interesting read. The fighting is pretty fun and the cultivation system well thought out.

The translations are really good, and the Chinese idioms are very fresh and interesting, with only very few errors.

Interesting concept but the story is told to slowly, it takes to long to go through. It becomes predictable after a while. Its only enjoyable finding out the more stuff Jiang Chen knows.

It is certainly one of my favorite wuxia novels and I definitely recommend giving it a read. The story can get quite repetitive at times but the main character is enjoyable and the story moves at a nice pace.

I particularly enjoy that although he seems to have an answer for everything that comes his way due to his past memories he still has to work hard and overcome the hardships he faces just like anyone else.

This novel is about the reincarnated son of the Heavenly Emperor. One would assume that it's all smooth sailing all the way but our protagonist face bumps and trials as he grows.

Its rather realistic in a way that though he has an accumulation of millions of years in experience, he is still restricted to what he can do in what level of status he was reincarnated into.

Though sometimes it might be long and extravagant in its descriptive narration of the MC's abilities and achievements that may vex some, its nonetheless... more>> an interesting read to those looking for feel good novels. <<less

Love the story so far, can't get enough. Jiang Chen is a legend with people constantly underestimating him and Volare's translation is always fast and Im constantly left wanting more. Starting to see the bigger picture come into play in recent chapters. Honestly feels like waiting for my daily fix.

Well at first I didn't want to read it because I tought it was the same reincarnation novel like always, but after a few chapters I discover that actually it was more than that, a nice book, very well paced.

The good points:

1.-a very nice history well paced not to fast nor to slow

... more>> 2.- A very nice MC, cunning, ruthless (but not ungrateful), smart

3.- Very good side characters

4.- Gives importance to other areas not only cultivation, like formations or alchemy

The bad points

1.- Well sometimes the MC tends to be to OP or draw cards up his sleeve that you didn't know nor explain before, to deux ex machina

Spoiler

2.- I'm a little bit anoyed of what happened with Dan Fei because it wasn't actually his fault or the MC but she went away like she was a plague and even when she knew she was pregnant she didn't come back so it pretty unfair for she but I'm still waiting how the MC is going to handle Dan Fei and his daughter...

[collapse]

Actually I'm a little bit addicted to this book, It is very good and have a lot of history even tought it have not reched the climax, if you have the opportunity you may well give it a shot, you are not going to regretted :D <<less

Retaining what is essentially infinite knowledge from a previous life is not exactly new. How it was presented was interesting though. The main character was supposedly the most renown scholar on a variety of topics, mainly excelling on alchemy and theoretical martial cultivation. I say theoretical here because the MC is unable to cultivate martial arts in his previous life.

The author has the alchemy knowledge down greatly. The MC knows what he's doing but is still limited by his change of environment and materials. It's the martial cultivation that bothers... more>> me. He was suppose to have grown up with no cultivation practice. Sure he had tons of theoretical knowledge, to the point that he was widely sought after by everyone, but he had it way too easy cultivating in his new life.

He should have been new to cultivation, freshly starting from scratch, yet he seems to breeze right through the cultivation like nothing. There was no challenge to it. The only challenges presented were in the form of stronger challengers. Knowledge gained from study only carries one so far. There should have been much more trouble for his cultivation. All of the MCs setbacks are solved by the MC gaining some OP item/ally or the MC just having enough time or resources to level up to match the problem.

The novel is good, it just didn't turn out how I expected it to turn out. The world building is nice, there's a variety of characters, and the overall plot so far is excellent. Some parts can drag on due to repetitive dialogue, but the Sovereign is definitely worth the read. <<less

So far Jiang Chen's adventures through a thousand chapters, have captivated my attention and one of my permanent tabs on my phone. Great series and can't wait to see what we unravel together as we all read the novel with the community. Great story and well balanced with their abilities overall.

How should I put this? My first time doing some reviews or comments.- Brrrr... -let me just give it a shot. Here it goes.

SOTR is an interesting novel unlike those wuxia novels that I've red so far such as stellar transformation, invicible, martial god space and many more similarly related to its content. It is a unique novel that gives you a different perspective or point of view in a MC journey "to become strong and explore the unknowns."

Let me guide my memories and share with you my POV in... more>> SOTR. To start with, in present rebirth (yes rebirth with celestial knowledge but not yet the apex), he is a martial cultivator and a pill master who inherited the pill knowledge coupled with the martial teachings, not limited to the world he is within; from his past life which allow him effectively to get strong and gives you picture of his "ups and downs" journey-events. This will show along the way as you read. There are some humour aside from harem in this novel.

The downside for me is the execution of the skills which will give you, pretty much, the same ideas or concepts with the other novels. The only difference is how the author gives you a start up understanding on how things will work out or guides you slowly on how, logically, the MC gets stronger from both perspectives. In addition, interestingly, the unknowns got potentials. Unlike other novels, SOTR-genra-alike, their MCs are insanely strong at the beginning or surprisingly gets help from external sources.

SOTR gives me a brand new experience on how I view chinese novel. It pains me not to know how things will work out since I'm not an advance reader (tsk2x). Thank GOD and the translator team who made it possible for me to enjoy reading for free even the chapter is slowly being release. Well, gotta give it to you, that's a good strategy for me. It will reduce the information overload between reading novels and 'life'.

To sum it up, the author gives you a decent detail on how he get strong and how he ventures out to explore new things and secrets in the realms. Even now, I can't deduce what those secret realms are... is it true that it is only 3 realms from its title? Haha... I can't wait to figure it out.

Thank you and you do have a great day, SIRs! (PS this should be 4.5 rating for me but theres not such thing as 4.5) (x.x) <<less

Hmmm, it seems pretty interesting at this point. Kinda generic but has its own flavor and humor to it. Might continue all the way!

First off, I'd like to mention that I enjoy reading just about anything I can get my hands on. However, due to my job, I have less time to read than I'd like. As such I have to be a bit more choosy in my reading material. However, I always try to make time to read SOTR at least once every couple of days, if not every day. The story itself isn't anything hard to follow, which makes it perfect after a long day of work. I find it humorous,... more>> although childish at times.

Spoiler

I've always loved the idea of rebirth, so thats one of my favorite aspects in many wuxia novels. I appreciate a character who is calm and collected, and those who have lived more than one life usually show this quality. Secondly, characters who have a "great will" are inspiring. Jiang Chen is a great example of this. He rules himself with extreme discipline, while maintaining a type of carefree feeling that doesn't impose upon others. While ruthless, he is a great friend willing to go to any ends for those he considers friends. Finally, his ability to progress from a small beginning and continuously make way to a larger realm is a fun concept that has a "cup half-full" vibe.

[collapse]

I love the story, even though many that have read it and other novels I read on a regular basis say they are boring or redundant. Thanks for the energy you put into making something that others can enjoy. <<less

It's hilarious, seeing an MC who's born as celestial emperor's son died on a calamity and then end up reincarnated as a young master of a dukedom who got caned to dead because of farting in front of a king.

the story so far is good and interesting, and I like Jiang Chen's character a little bit, but some of his potentials are wasted because of his wits.

the plot is kinda repetitive but that's alright, most of wuxia and xianxia are like that too.

and thanks to etvo and friends for their... more>> hard work. <<less

If I am writing a review I will be unbiased. The story follows the traditional Xianxia but with its own unique twist adding comedy, humor, and harems in a sophisticated manner.

Its rough summary is a reborn weakling with the knowledge of the world due to his past life, but unlike most novels in this novels, the MC actually has struggles to go through, and it's not a smooth path. If I say anymore its practically spoiling it

Very interesting story background (reincarnation) , I like the main character's personality and how he keeps many hidden aces towards enemies that are known to the readers.

Tthe translator is very quick on updates and always provides update posts if they aren't able to post on a particular day.

Overall, very enjoyable novel
