“…… It’s this way.”

“Yes! As expected from Yuuri-sama!

“Yuuri-senpai, you’re so cool…….”

I can’t tell them. I can’t say that we’ve been going astray for an hour because I’ve been looking for an opportunity to say something.

Yeeeeah, if you want a novel about a guy that thinks a lot of things but does other things and the author only haves one joke thorough he whole novel this one is for you!

I won't put stars but... haaaa, I just wanted to air my disappointment

"misunderstandings" are a plot device, where the pay off is supposed to be either a humorous punch line or the resolution of a tension filled conflict, and some authors have tried to base the premise of the entirety of their work on ONE misunderstanding.

It... more>> is entirely possible to have a novel be surrounded with misunderstandings, jumping from misunderstanding to misunderstanding is entirely feasible, "tr*sh of the Counts family" comes to mind, this plot device is used extensively in there to portray intelligence, luck, heroism, dread, drama... very different things... even to the point where you realize that whatever the MC is thinking is irrelevant because his actions are entirely contradictory (unreliable narrator) and everyone haves its own misconceptions about the MC.

Or even have a main one and relate to it trough the story to keep the conflict and tension going for a bit more, like "Lucia" where the misunderstanding causes a LOT of drama and character growth but it's all worth it for the pay off when it's cleared up.

What becomes bothersome is when the whole premise relies on a single one, and the author keeps on piling on and on and on over that one, without ever resolving the conflict or having a satisfactory punchline... this can be read trough the EPILOGE of this novel, where the punch line is him barfing... and doesn't resolve the conflict.

You need tact and proper characterization to manage a good balance or it becomes bothersome and unrelatable, give the characters proper reasoning, and believable circumstances for it to work, not just forcing it with a list of symptoms pulled out of the "personality disorder" wikipedia.

So... yeeeah, not for me, I can see what the author is doing and I don't like it, I can't put stars because I feel it would be unfair, but it's fine, Humor is always subjective, perhaps you'll find this humorous I personally can't.

If anything the translation is nice. <<less
