Remember when you were in school and there was one guy always cracking jokes, none of which were funny? Well if that guy were a novel he could be this one.

I. Really love game system novels and they really don't have to do much to get a good score out of me. This novel nope didn't have it.

The writing was unengaging, rambling and disjointed. I never felt the author was able to communicate what the world was like, what was going on, the characters motivations, or anything you might need... more>> for an immersive experience.

The characters especially the MC were painful. While some might occasionally have an enjoyable trait they never managed to have consistent or relatable personalities. A problem made worse by a near constant churn of characters.

"TL;DR don't bother <<less

I honestly have given this a four for pretty much everything but the storyline. It lacks a fully linear timeline and jumps around a lot. Is it followable? To a degree. Is it good? It's not the worst I've seen. Is it amusing? Yes. Aside from there being so many lolis you can tell from Skybreak City when the author is in Mitchell Kingdom that they're a hardcore lolicon. Lucifer has come for my soul because I read this, and sorry bub, I lost that thing awhile ago. If you're... more>> looking for a fairly amusing story centered around a Jack-Of-All-Trades and enough lolis to populate 17 elementary schools, then you're in luck. Lolicons, be happy, most of the lolis are legal. Maybe not for you, but for the MC.

Aside from that, the writing is actually a bit more bulky than most light novels I've seen, the grammar in the tl is decent, the chapters and volumes are AMAZINGLY long. (For the love of Haruhi. volume 9 is 80 CHAPTERS! And the rest range around 40-50, it's just... so... beautiful...) <<less

The first 7 volumes of the novel are 5 star in my opinion. Its very enjoyable to read and is entertaining.

That however goes downhill very quickly with the 8th volume with the major change in plot, from enjoyable to downright annoying and frustrating. 1 star for vol8 is the best rating I could give it.

Luckily things pick up from the start of vol9 so I think the novel deserves at least 4 stars.

I concur with the assessments expressing that the main character seems to be more of a pushover, dull, indecisive and finally superficial than a medium average main character. The story started good enough but as I continued reading, it turned into a vague dullness chain of paragraphs showing nothing new or exiting, comparing it to series of the same genre and topic. I found no distinctive features besides the characters names and the fact that they know who comes from another place with a previous life in the bags, that... more>> could distinguish this from others similar series. Funny though, as a light entertainment reading for someone not previously exposed to this genre, it was really good, according to my daughter. I, on the other hand, digress at least partially. <<less

A classic japanese novel... yeah it should be a chinesse but... Well there’s harem, loli, dense MC, OP MC, transport to other world, Harem member bullying MC, Augmented reality, god, devil... classic.

Well since I like this genre, that’s fine. But the problem is that the author seems to want his character to experience all the thing in the world so it’s a bit fast paced and there is lot of event for the MC to resolve. Allong the way the MC pick lolis (but the MC don’t like lolis)

And... more>> since the author put a lot of event it looks like he lost himslef in the plot and write things with no plan so sometimes the MC looks like he forgot something and then suddenly he remember and come up with a reason...

Spoiler

So like almost every japan MC this guy is a bit selfish and even use the power of the “world” to change the memory of a girl.
Since there is lot of event :
He start with a girl and get separated from her (the main female protagonnist). This last for a whole volume with almost no word about it.
He disappear somwhere and don’t even tell his fiance where he his. And this last for a whole volume.
He make a su*cide in front of lot of ppl and don’t tell he is alive (well he resurrected) to the girl who was with him at this time. Last for a couple of chapter.
He disappear in an abyss and don’t contact 3 of the girl he left behind for a whole volume.
He die in front of a girl that don’t know he can resurrect and don’t tell her he is alive or don't try to contact her, last for half a volume...
...
I think this list will never end as I read this novel.

[collapse]

Well don’t take me wrong, this novel is fine if you don’t get attached to one of the girl he meet since you don’t know whe he will forget about her. Remember that it’s a harem.

3/5 as of Vol 5 <<less

read through part of volume 4. Series has no long term planning. Whenever the author runs out of ideas he completely spends a chapter or two completely changes the plot.

The novel wasn't that bad. It can actually be a bit enjoyable if you ignore the extreme randomness that pops up for no reason. Maybe it was to make it more realistic (?) or just for the sake of plot convenience but the randomness can throw some people of from reading the story.

The story does have a few good points (?). What I like the most is the MC's character, he isn't a typical jp doormat protag nor the usual cold merciless MC from ch novels. He does have the... more>> subtle crazy vibes from kr stories. The MC is a carefree person who goes along with whatever comes his way, adding in the randomness, it makes for some amusing situations. The MC is a logical thinker but can be extremely emotional when people he does care for are in danger.

The things that I don't like from the story are the discrepancies. I don't know if the author forgot about what he wrote about earlier, I don't really enjoy stories with the Unreliable Narrator tag. It's annoying when the author breaks the 'world laws/rules' of the story they've already established, what's more if there little to no explanation about it. Lastly, what annoys me most the setting of the MC suddenly becoming weaker from the steady growth of weak to strong.

Spoiler

I skipped Vol 10 for this reason. I mean, I enjoyed an anime like Bleach but seriously, a character going from weak to strong to weak again is one of the settings I fcking hate the most. Oh and the MC gets gender-bent on Vol 10 though I didn't mind it much.

[collapse]

The MC eventually develops an attitude of treating his life like a game because they basically can't die. I'd still give the story a 4/5 because I enjoyed the first 9 volumes, I'd have to wait for Vol 11 to be completed before continuing tho... <<less

I really enjoy this novel, although it gets a little slow at times and the romance is nill, it always surprises you with the plot line. You do have to read a few chapters to find what happened to the other characters after fir 'abandons' them... it's worth the read!

Keep going author & translators, I'm looking forward to the next chapter on pins and needles

(First review I write)

Well truth be told I stumbled upon this novel by chance so I decided to read it mostly because of the gender bender tag, gender bender doesn't really happen till volume 10 and it seems to be resolved already.

I personally found this novel enjoyable and I like the adventures the protagonist goes through, there's a lot of interesting back story however I can't help but be somewhat annoyed at a lot of stuff that happens such as things just being left at an abrupt pause... more>> and barely being mentioned later on.

For example; the quest about obtaining forbidden magic that is still going on and I remember it started in like volume 3 and it wasn't mentioned again until volume 10, and it was just referenced not like the quest itself updated or anything.

There's a lot of foreshadowing again going to reference to volume 3, and as yet of volume 10 we have yet to know much about it. It's frustrating if I had to pick a word for it.

The characters, oh god the characters, it certainly is enjoyable to read through but there's times when the characters are suprisingly annoying in my reading persepective since I personally don't enjoy MC getting dragged around by his companions also one of them is a tsundere which is annoying to me, and uh idk how to describe his "little sister" sadistic? Also sometimes the MC is incredibly smart and sometimes he literally has the IQ of 0, I personally don't mind such inconsistencies but I know some people do mind.

Also something worth mentioning that confused me or still does rather; are the magic spell tier system, since like after a bit advanced spells change to arcane (not entirely sure that's how confused I am about it) and there's seemingly a new tier added before forbidden, being super arcane tier magic. Or maybe my reading comprehension is lacking, another thing worth mentioning is that reading character dialogue is hard to keep track on who is talking (maybe just me).

Quite good. Got hooked pretty well in the story. But there's also some disapoting moments sometimes when you hope for things to happen in a new area but then the MC just suddendly gets dumped into another completely different new area and things move on.

Well, I'm looking foward to the some caracters developpement.

In V.8 things just got completely messed up.

Still going to continue reading futher but well, how to say this, just having finished v.8, I'm really pissed off right now with the road the story went.

What I liked about this web novel is its flawed freedom.

Its made as if the author likes to day dream. And to continue what happen from his previous day dream, he writes whatever that is.

Screw creative writing, screw editing, screw fine tuning.

... more>> It kinda feels like reading chinese GTA in anime style.

Main quests are all emergencies.

Everything else is side quests that are always just there to be forgotten. Like what we do in all those games.

This writing is like a raw vegetable. Some can enjoy it as it is but.

its a good food if cooked. A fine jewel if polished. <<less

You can definitely tell what kind of girl the author likes by reading this. Hint: The author is a massive Lolicon. A good portion of the major characters (harem members) are lolis. Most of those lolis are tsundere lolis. A lot of the tsundere lolis are violent tsundere lolis. If violent tsundere lolis are your thing you'll be at home with this story I guess.

Also, the main character makes a lot of s*upid choices that cause a lot of trouble for him. It's quite frustrating.

Hahahaha~ Screw it, this is an interesting story, will never bore you, but might drive you mad. Loads of game elements but a $hitStorm of rule bending, super extra tropes, and plot shifts. Good luck on keeping track of what is going on, I often wonder if the author does. Translation gets 8/10 for the occasional human error that the translators could have fixed using G00gle D0cs grammar and spelling check. Best to read in volume chunks to avoid the sudden shifts or cliff hops (that is a cliff hanger... more>> that the author decided to write around instead of fixing, kind of like the feeling when a group of time travelers leave one of their teammates in a collapsed timeline and no one in the team seems to care). I swear this story needs a Wiki to keep up with the loop arounds. At least the protagonist knows he is only one dude and only has two hands. <<less

MC's character is very irritating he is jumping all over the place staring sh*t but never bothers to look into things in detail or even try to answer some of his own questions.

It's like he all really gave up on understanding any and he is just going with the flow.

Over all I find the story quite lacking.

well its a lighthearted story but the story is all over the place
... more>>
Spoiler

Sometimes the story gets irritating and some times the author will will completely change the story and sometimes I think he is not even paying attention to the story himself let me guys give you some examples

-There was an incident where the protagonist went to the abyss, the demon god (i think its like a general under demon king) there takes a liking to him and asks him to learn some skills and help him as his subordinate and the chapter ends, but in the very next chapter another subordinate of demon god who is many levels higher than the protagonist challenges him and kills him in a fight in front of the demon god and the demon god does not even intertwined when she actually took a liking to the protagonist. Moreover the companion of the protagonist (beautiful undead elf) didn't even cared that he died and in the later chapters met him and acted like nothing happened and even calls all the demons her uncles wtf !!

-then comes the levels and exp, its so horrible that I nearly dropped this story several times, I mean firstly when our protagonist reached level 19 he needed around 2, 50, 00, 000 exp to level up where a monster gives like 10000 or so exp and this number increases exponentially with every level but at the same time there are people with same age group as the protagonist and even some loli characters who have levels in 30's or so, I mean a 14 year old girl at level 25 are you kidding me author-san!! And they do not even kill monsters to gather exps like protagonist, and if that's not enough in one chapter the so called "world" (think of her as a program that controls this world) meets him and tells him that this level system is not appropriate and changes the whole system of leveling, which is like many things in this story is never explained and the rest of the players does not even questioned it or mention anything about the change

-Other thing is about the romance, in one word its 'horrible' and by horrible I means that some of them don't even care if he dies and the story moves on and then they meets the protagonist when he revives like nothing happened (although the protagonist can revive but they don't know that!!) you cannot feel any personality from them and there character changes after every few chapters

-sometimes the author will completely change someones personality just because he ran out of material to write like a guy who was acting like a swear to god villain will suddenly turn good and completely remove a character who I thought was a clear harem member

though the comedy is good and story is fun you can not expect this story to be logical and explaining

Its pretty good...

Though its true that it resembles japanese novel more than it resemble chinese's.

Unlike chinese MC that is ussually more manly or even brutal, the MC is more akin to a playfull or sometimes easy going characteristic that japanese MC ussualy have.

This novel puts a unique spin on the whole "Gets transported to a different world". Him and who knows how many other people get slowly transported to a new world and they don't remember a lot of details about their old world but they do know they are in a different one. Our Protag doesn't seem to take anything serious due to the fact that he can not die, and he progress rather slowly.. Not to deter you the interaction between characters is pretty good.

I do recommend this as another... more>> "at your own pace" novel as it's pretty easy to follow slowly. <<less

Holy guacamole everyone who has commented has just cheesed this series. As far as I’ve read the story is in the comedy which granted is not grandiose but it has its moments no need to make an ant hill into Mt Tae. Regardless to new readers I suggest you give it a try to see if you like. Edit after reading most of Vol. 4 : So yeah apparently the other review/comments were right after volume 3 the story gets all mangled and goes all over the place. I mean... more>> (a bit of spoilers here) what happened to the devil king that was a player or what happened to the zombie ice elf nee-chan or for that matter what happened to the whole Undead Holy Angel storyline they were doing at the first half of the volume? <<less
