Lovely book. If anyone can recommend more fourth wall breaking novels where characters know what other characters are like or supposed to be (e.g green tea etc) or transmigration, please recommend!! 🤗❤️

Hey there, this is the translator. This is a really short novel that tries to diss at the usual tropes employed by CN novels. The characters are quirky and interesting, and there's often fourth-wall breaking. The paragraph's are bit overlong but this is a solid time-killer when you need something light and doesn't require brain cells.

Highly recommended to anyone who's read at least a couple of cultivation-transmigration novels, even if you're not the biggest fan of the genre, because it's a little subversive as far as parody goes. The translation is solid.

This is a short story starring a self-aware side character who works hard at lifting up his transmigrated protagonist. Everyone in this world knows that they're in a novel (aside from ML), has assigned character settings, and very few of them actually match up with those settings personality-wise. The comedy is mostly in breaking... more>> the third/fourth (?) wall, making fun of genre tropes, and extending gap moé to its limits.

While it starts out appearing to be a happy-go-lucky slice-of-life comedy that was randomly put together by the author, the plot is slowly revealed to be pretty well-developed and multi-layered.

The MC is dense and talkative, the ML is possessive and shy, and there are razor blades imbedded in the fluff. All is not as it appears. HE. <<less

Underwhelming I'd say. Although the final chapter worth at least 4 stars rating, it alone still can't make up for the destruction of its former chapters. To be honest, I expected much better considering the high rating and positive reviews.

The setting is indeed interesting, but the narrative is very boring. The former chapters are more like an article where the writer keeps on rambling, lacking both the depth and engagement expected in a novel. Meanwhile, the later chapters are better in terms of plots, yet the narrative keeps bringing it... more>> down (excluding the final chapter ofc), which is a pity. The reason I completed the story is merely because it's short and doesn't take much time to finish or else I won't be able to reach the good part of the story at all. <<less

Started off strong and ended with a whimper. It was evident that the author had no plan going in because they kept introducing new and wild plot twists every chapter with no prior foreshadowing.

Read for the comedy, not the romance, because the romance is... bad. More notes on this if you don't mind spoilers:

The relationship between MC and ML just wasn't believable. If it weren't for the ML's consistent attachment to the MC, I'd think the author just shoehorned it in midway the moment they thought of it. The MC doesn't display any romantic feelings toward the ML until they get together, and the ML's attachment didn't even read as a crush to me; if anything, he felt like an awestruck child latching onto his savior, and it doesn't help that their relationship jumps straight from platonic to romantic with no forewarning or, you know, actual developments that would make it plausible.

Seriously. The MC fishes the ML out of a river, takes care of him for a bit in a normal, unambiguously familial way, gets kidnapped for a year to hang out with his big brother and play with dolls, and then there's a time skip because apparently the final boss was actually the MC's split personality and the ML has to go chase him around for three years, aka like two paragraphs of narration. Then the MC dies, wakes up, and boom! They're dating.

Just, why?

On the bright side, there were no non-con scenes (or NSFW scenes in general) ; the author wasn't overtly racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise bigoted; and the translation was free of any obvious grammar or spelling issues. I still cannot recommend this story to anyone in good faith, but if you're like me and you have no standards, you can read it anyway. <<less

An enjoyable short parody

You can find many kind of plot story here. I love how MC break the 4th wall 😂

The twist is also kind of unexpected ... more>>

the supposed to be male protag is actually the real soul of that body. And the MC has split personality and he is the main villain!

Short and enjoyable. You can read it while eating breakfast like me, or you can read it while waiting in line

P.S

I take of 1 star because I think it can be developed more. I read a lot of parody novel, and I think this one has more potential, but I guess author just want to make a quick read, instead of developing a more complicated plot <<less

A bit choppy, but the premise makes up for it! Predictable, but some twists exist, so I'm pleased.

It's 1st person POV, so we get to know the MC fairly well, but not anyone else really. I think 1st person POV fits the story well though.

Might've been a bit confusing for a bit, but eh. I'm just here for the meta.

Amongst all the webnovels I've read, this one has easily one of the most interesting and unique settings.

It's cute, entertaining, intriguing, amusing, and a tad sweet. There were a couple surprises that really contributed to this novel making for an enjoyable read. As rymes said, all is not as it appears.

If you're into meta stories and characters being self-aware, I'd definitely recommend this. Once again, this is quite interesting :D

On a side note, the occasionally funny author's notes and translator's notes at the end are definitely a plus xD

3.5 Stars- Maybe it’s because I’ve just finished reading a fantastic story, maybe it’s because I’ve read parody styled stories before (that isn’t in the BL category) or it could also may be because there are too few chapters that I feel that couldn’t give the plot enough room to develop more, that I couldn’t really give this more stars. Not saying that it’s bad but it isn’t mind blowing either, however it was interesting and I really do wish there could be more added on.

Have you already read what feels like a billion transmigration/cultivation novels? Well, how about you make it a billion and one with this? There is some fourth wall breaking and when the characters have downtime, they are all pretty much different from how they have to act in the novel. It pokes fun at many of the tropes, but also does something different with its ending.

It's certainly a Parody novel. But it's also unique.

The author did great job with the pace of the story. And doing the Plot Twist not Twist but still surprised me. And another Twist. And let's not forget the endings...

I don't know what to feel. In a way I'm happy with the MC and ML get their HE. But in other way I feel numb... Somewhat loss with the ending....

It's still very much Enjoyable Novel. Absolutely Well Written and the Translation is Great! I Liked it.

I would've actually scored it 4 or 4.25 but I think the average score here is too low. So I'll give a 5. This one was slightly underdeveloped due to the number of chapters. But I ultimately liked it. It has an interesting setting, an unexpected twist at ch 11 and a unique approach toward the transmigration/transported in a novel genre. If you have time, I'd recommend reading it.

Interesting premise with a twist.

I do wish the giant paragraphs got broken up more by the translator though. Really good translation, just the translator kept to the author's CN paragraphs, which was probably not the best idea because it was crazy wall-of-text and lacked pacing or emphasis.

Otherwise, for a short story, humorous and worth reading. Tiny bit of drama/angst at the end (which I do also wish was foreshadowed slightly better? There was foreshadowing, but not a lot of it).

Like another reader said, ending was great, but exposition took frickin'... more>> long. <<less
