I'm glad there is no harem tag (as of yet), and it seems like a very good story. The beginning shows promise. Looking forward to how this will develop. (Hopefully it doesn't go downhill)

... And of course. There's a harem tag. I need to stop making early reviews. On the bright side... It's not too bad of a thing... It's a bit generic now. OP protagonist. Harem. Summoned hero...

BUT it isn't as flat as it sounds. The characters are actually a bit rounded out. A bit.

I was going to drop the story, because the MC was treated almost like a side-character. The author kept teasing regarding MC's background, but not much progress. There were not many chapters translated, so I might as well continue and then probably drop it. However, when the author finally revealed part of the MC's history and his power, the story quickly became intense. When the MC showed his power, it reminded me a little of Saito's power-up from _Zero no Tsukaima_ when he fought-off against an army, except this time... more>> more gory. As long as the story progress the way it has after chapter 16, it will be a good read.

I hate it when reviewers say to read the story because it gets better later on. A story catches your attention early or it does not, you should not force yourself. However, the early part of this story was not bad, it will not bore you to death, so I will recommend reading it until chapter 16-17. It goes from meh, to pretty good.

update: MC disappoints when he is with women, especially enemy women. Someone should figure out to stop the MC, they need a female team to do so. The MC is not a regular high school student, he has fought and killed in this new world before, and this is his second time. He should be able to interact with females that want to scheme againt him a little bit. <<less

It takes 14 chapters before the MC actually starts killing anything.

That's not the biggest problem though.

The story feels disjointed. Or perhaps the transition of events just really freakin suck that makes the story confusing.

... more>> The story is trying to focus on far too many POVs from far too early in the story. You're not really grounded with the MC yet, before you're then take to Mar's POV, and then Sir Dios, and briefly this Elf priestess that apparently knows him when he came before as the hero.

Alsi, there's this "Mystery" to the story. It has to do with the MC MAYBE has a split personality? It's not clear. So, again, it feels really disjointed and is just quite a bit frustrating to read. It's just really annoying as you don't really know how things got where, and in what direction things would go in the future.

Also, ATM, the MC is just going with the flow and that's a terrible protagonist for a "former hero".

I'll soldier on, but so far I'm not enjoying it.

-Edit-

-MC doesn't even know what a goblin is.

Yeah.... Nah. Dropped.

The MC has this "Emotionless" mode when going slaughtering.

This might sound bad ass, but actually reading him swinging his arm like as if it was just everyday normal swinging didn't make the slaughter or the curb stomping all that appealing.

The transition and flow of the story is already horrendous and I just can't stomach any more of it. Bleh. <<less

The novel is interesting, but I can see why people were confused at the beginning. MC does not do anything at all until chapter 15. He is even barely mentioned. I like how the novel starts (other than not focusing on MC for 15 chapters), it is a bit different from other isekai novels. However, it does become a bit predictable. The main focus of this novels is politics. There is a battle for the throne within the empire and he becomes involved in that. The amnesia part is quickly... more>> resolved and he regained his memories, so I am not sure why it even was there. It didn't serve any purpose.

One thing that I don't like is that there are still some elements from classic Japanese good guy protagonist. Like in every novel, he refuses to drink because he is "underage" even though he is 16. I don't know if they are required by law to write stuff like this because kids might read that or something.... It just really annoying to me. There is also cliche of "saving the girl at the very last moment.

One major BS happened in the second volume when MC released enemy spies. That whole thing entirely relied on spies being idiots and keeping silent. If this kind of BS will continue, this novel is not worh reading as everyone around MC is mentally deficient and this never makes for a good novel <<less

The start really needs to be rewritten or something because its quite confusing and lots of different characters pop up while MC hasn't established what he's going to do. The pov jumping works in the middle of a story and when we know the character background. A few sentences at the beginning explaining who and what the character is and what they're trying to do can help a lot if we have absolutely no idea on who or what the character is trying to do. Without proper establishment were left... more>> to assume things, which in my opinion should be only when some mysterious element becomes introduced in the story.

Otherwise, standard fare fantasy which is enjoyable due to the fact that characters are dynamic (though its just the first arc) while somewhat a bit mediocre at the rest of the aspects. When the story actually made sense and picked up, I enjoyed it very much. Give it a go <<less

I would say that this novel is okay. I actually like the premise a lot and the antagonists are actually fairly competent which is also good.

What drops the score of this novel though is the protagonist. Specifically his personality. I mean sure he hides his identity but that's normal and explained away fairly well. My main problem is he doesn't act like someone who fought through countless battles and led many soldiers.

He has a problem of being too modest, and seems to just go with the flow most of the... more>> time. Its very immersion breaking for someone who supposedly was a great leader.

Overall its okay. Could be better, could be worse. <<less

Well, except the MC looks like your usual chuni black one-handed swordsman, this is a good read. Except for before the MC become the prince. That was annoying.

The battle are good, the tactics are used not just your one man army like Summoned Slaughterer (that MC was insane af) nor the muscle head Schera from The Girl Who Ate Death God. Even though he still massacred 1000 people or something but it's on normal scope of OP MC.

Also the conspiracy like things which usually found kingdom-centric novel are good. The... more>> fact that everyone has their own scheme makes that it wasn't just 2-bit world where everyone is a good man or helping the MC. Kinda dark but without much edgy. Also the MC is not a goody two shoes as he's also manipulate, bribe and sending assassin like your usual nobles.

Well, all in all I recommend this for you who like kingdom-centric story without too OP one man army MC as well as war story. <<less

story, background story, plot, other characters deserves 5 stars... BUT... the MC obliterates that rating with how very DRY and BORING his character is, so as compromise I give 3 stars. I'm dropping it also, not because it's bad but because it's not my cup of tea.

RANT: Why does the MC drop IQ in single digits whenever confronted with a female??WHY?? (ok rant over).

As of writing this I am on chapter seven of the second volume.

I gotta say, I'm not really sure what other people are talking about in some of their reviews. I did not find the beginning confusing at all, and I actually think it was well done and one of the better aspects of the novel. The novel in general seems pretty generic, but overall feels fairly well done and fleshed out.

The beginning actually drew me in and it is the more recent chapters that feel more like the author... more>> lost a little focus. I would recommend this to people who enjoy the genre, as I think it is enjoyable. It is nothing super amazing though, and anyone who doesn't like novels like this or is tired of the genre might not enjoy this.

I think this is a solid 4/5 stars and I think any potential readers should at least try a chapter or two before dismissing it.

EDIT: After reading chapter v2c8, I have stopped reading this story. The story has added some poorly done political aspects, and while others might be okay with how they are done, I am unwilling to put up with it. It makes me cringe reading it and I couldn't even finish the chapter. I personally really really hate things like how that political stuff was written, but other people might not find it bothersome as it is more my personal taste. <<less

What could be a slightly more interesting premise than usual is quickly dropped due to ~*~AMNESIA~*~ to make absolutely sure that the story stays strictly within all cliches of the genre that have already been written thousands of times. The author is godawful at writing coherent series of events. They are so bad at describing actions that one wonders if they are actually older than 10. It is physically painful to try and make sense of this.

3/5: Fairly Average
Story and premise was interestingly good. Having a summoned hero become an emperor, went back to Earth then transported 1000years afterwards again. And the MC is not self-delusional that thinks mu*der is always bad but instead is a war maniac.

However the MC is extremely bland when it comes to dealing with females. Like how he easily becomes flustered with them, becomes beet-red when sees them naked... and even after he already remember who he was, he's still you're average edgy Japanese teen protagonist. Cmon be the badass... more>> Emperor already !!!

The world-building is also slow and bad. The first volume is disjointed and quite confusing. And MC feels like a side-mob in the plot, like how he gets badmouthed and tr*shed by others, which might be OK in the beginning, but should be having his attitude and pride be a bit more later on (which never does).... Then again a Jap teen protag.. -_-

I'm still holding for a while to read this. I hope it gets good, but might drop sooner or later. <<less

This is pretty entertained to read because of OP MC or stuffs.

However, just like the other reviewer said: The girl was suddenly interested in the MC for literally no reason at all. Like a lot

Spoiler

was it because that the wolf didn't attack him and him entering the forest which only royalty can enter? What?

[collapse]

And somehow the information in this series is transfering between people fast as f*ck despite the medieval setting

The chapter is an estimate, I got about 70% through volume one anyways and dropped it. Like the premise behind it but found the execution pretty lacking. MC spends half the first novel not remembering anything so he's just running around following everyone like a dummy and feels like a major waste of a setting/backstory. And of course the girl is interested in him for no reason really. And when he does finally remember and starts fighting it just feels... lazy. And his ability is ret*rded, even if it's explained... more>> better later it is way too much wish fulfillment.

Spoiler

Sure he can see everything, even behind him or out of sight, and he can understand everything 5 steps in advance. Just how the hell does that give him unlimited stamina? Considering he hasn't done any upkeep to keep in perfect shape for 3 years and the group has to keep stopping for him to rest while walking because he's tired. Yet suddenly it's no issue and he can cut off heads like it's nothing and kill hundreds with ease while swinging a freaking iron sword. Just feels like lazy writing.

[collapse]

Honestly felt like I was reading one of those 8th grade syndrome notebooks. But in a painful cringe way not an enjoyable B movie way. Maybe it gets better later because the base idea was good. <<less
