On one spring evening when I was eight years old, I, Erica, Duke of Aurelia’s daughter, realized something.

Huh, I have reincarnated into a fantasy world, haven’t I?

Moreover, it was the romance-fantasy girl game that had the reputation of being bloody, 『Liber Monstrorum ~Phantom Beasts and the Winter Princess~』

The face reflected in the mirror was that of the villainess character of that game.

After repeatedly harassing many characters, including the heroine, she would die without exception, signaling the beginning of an event called the bizarre incident. She was a villain who deserved to get the consequences!

—I absolutely don’t want a destiny like that, though?

No, since I have remembered the memory of my previous life, I will make sure that kind of thing does not happen.

In my previous life, I was harassed immensely by an irrationally angry yandere man who thought I was in love with him.

My cause of death, too, was from being stabbed by another yandere man who I only had talked with a few times…

Now that I have become the haughty villainess Erica, I shouldn’t encounter more misunderstandings like with the previous life’s yandere men anymore, right…?

In that case, it will be fine as long as I deal with the death flags that I may have raised myself.

All right! First of all, before the bizarre incident begins at the Magic Academy, I will strike down the death flags accordingly!!

—Or so I thought, but it seems that I am about to die.

Eeh, how did this happen—!?

Among the sea of Otome Isekai LN, this one is really unique that it's not really about the otome, but more obout the mystery. There are fluffy moments but the story is more of a fantasy-mystery rather than fantasy-romance. If you like magic, mystery, and some Isekai, this is the story for you. I really like the world building in this series and how it is done. I'm a huge fan to all the subtle mythology/alchemy references in this work that the author put in. The heroine is intelligent and... more>> independent, I find her charming. She's certainly not a damsel in distress. She's focused on the goals of the story, which starts off as avoiding her death but becomes something more than that. The translator also does a great job, they put in research and constantly edit their translations. They even have diagrams if you're into that. <<less

First I liked this novel, the way death flag follow MC was awesome, but then MC destroyed it. You dont go around that carelessly and do whatever you liked when death flag is everywhere around you.

Also in danger she's too freaking calm, like a 2d character without any emotion. And what make me give up on this novel was that just because a character should be a genius, doesnt mean they should be all knowing at age of 12 and calmly analyse everything till they solve a very big danger... more>> '-' <<less

The story is deep. It is not repetitive. It is an amazing story and you have to love the MC and the boys they are so cute and the MC I don't know if she is dense or if she seriously ignore the love factor.

The translation work is amazing.

Excellent world building, it really read like a good classic adventure novel. Surprisingly low amount of generic isekai tropes (it's there tho). Good translation too, a well deserved translation for a quality series like this.

To be completely honest, I find the geography, history, and politics somewhat confusing, but that is compeletly on me. The translator has done an excellent job not only with the translation, but also with the background explanations. This is an excellent novel and I look forward to reading each chapter. I would be fully convinced that the MC is on the way to becoming a certain blackhole’s disciple, except that there isn’t ... more>>

tag. (Apparently at one point there was, as another reviewer says so, but at the time of this review, there isn’t.) If you don’t know what I mean, see Bakarina—I mean, “Destruction Flag.” Still, the world building in this novel is quite intricate and the MC is refreshingly not OP. <<less

An interesting fantasy story. Has a feel of a real fantasy adventure for once. Not many otome stories are like this. Enjoying it so far.

Dumb kids though. Sees door, opens it, enter room, oh shet it's a trap run!.... too late ret*rds, you're already balls deep in the fking room...

This novel is probably the most palatable Otome game reincarnation novel that I've read. That doesn't mean much when 99% of the otome isekai novels are basically a slice of life "fluffy" reverse harem story.

To say that this novel is different and unique would be definitely wrong. It just executes its story arcs at a higher level than similar novels.

I think, for the most part, the problem with Otome reincarnation novels, especially when it comes to serious fights and arcs is that everything goes too well for the protagonist. So,... more>> the protagonist wins and is able to defeat evil not because of meticulous planning, but rather because of OP plot armor or coincidental happenings, or people that are in love with her for no apparent reason helping her out. Most people that the MC interacts with are friendly to her, and they all go out of their way to protect her. There's no dangerous characters that interact with her, if at all, and as such, everyone is an ally. There's no mystery as for the affiliation of each character, and that does take out a lot of the suspense for a lot of character arcs.

Another problem is the lack of worldbuilding and buildup to story arcs. It's more like, "oh there's a death flag, gotta deal with it, " and somehow it gets dealt with. There's not much preparation, prologue, or investigation that should happen considering that limited information is given to the protagonist. Dangerous stuff happens out of the blue. Like, people are just attending classes, but all of the sudden, someone close to the MC gets kidnapped. Oh no! Then, somehow, they manage to fight off the baddies and save everyone.

Does Shini Yasui Kōshaku Reijō to Shichi-nin no Kikōshi have all of these problems? Yes, and more, but overall, the dialogue is better, the worldbuilding is better, the magical system and alchemy systems are better, and eh, characters are alright I suppose. There's definitely more thought and research put in the novel than a lot of the other otome game novels, and there's actually detailed descriptions of things. The level of attention to detail is definitely there, and overall, it's not that bad. There's a lot more lore and background to the world that you'd not expect from a novel like this, and the wand system is definitely a lot more robust than any magic system I've seen in a while. The main problem is again, that everyone is the MC's ally. All of the people that the MC manages to save, defeat, or interact with are always helping her out for some reason that's never explained. While certainly, some of the characters are fine, the fact that they give deference to the MC is extremely odd, especially for the monstro that she defeats along the way of the novel.

However, It's the best otome game novel I've read, and for that alone, I'll begrudgingly give it a 7/10 <<less

Erica's confession about her previous life, everything about her, is entirely unnecessary. The author make her confessed everything from her current secret to her modern day life, which make big impact on the fantasy atmosphere. The reaction afterward is forced and awkward. The fact, they are readily to believe her which make them so forced.

So on, I can't bear continue reading this despite having high hope for this novel. This completely turned me off.

The author should just make Erica confess a portion of secret, fabricate some story about her foresight-like ability or something. Imagine suddenly my sister tell me she has previous life in the same circumstance just like her, I would be in real shock and disbelief, not like what happened. Why every isekai have to be this way, do authors hate keeping secret that much?

this is my first ever review on novelupdates! I absolutely love this story. As someone who's not a big fan of romance but loves the reincarnated as a villain trope and a nerd for world building, this is my exact cup of tea. There are definitely some romance scenes but they're never made the centerpiece, for a good reason.

our MC has trust issues rooted from trauma in her past life, which makes her a bit more realistic in terms of most traumatized MCs in the genre.

her story not being involved with love is what makes me adore this story even more.

the infodumping may be jarring to some but I appreciate how much effort the author has put into weaving their world, and I can tell they've placed so much work into researching actual concepts to fit in their narrative. <<less

I care about logic a lot, so this story turned me off within the first few chaps.

MC brought the necklace with her even though she knew it would cause someone to die. So why did she bring it? Or couldn't she have refused it from her bro? Then she showed it to another person and revealed everything that caused the other death in her past life. I find that idiotic.

I came back to find out whether the novel was completed or not and decided to make this review along with it.... and now I want to cry.
For some reason I thought the novel was completed, but I was confused on how the novel would be completed in the remaining 28 chapters I had left.

But to find out that it actually WASNT and it was on HIATUS, oh my dear heart can’t take anymore..... <<less

It is a good read. A very good novel. Worth reading.

The story is rich, the characters personality is pictured well, the world building is deep, the plot make sense and interwoven deeply with the story. The romance is slow but I think it worth the wait. Kudos to the author.

The translator is dedicated and doing a very good job.

I'm just falling in love with Erica's world.

This novel is really good. It does start of slow and can be confusing at times but most of the things get explained in the next 5 to 10 chapters. The story really starts to pick up at around chapter 80 so if you can stick with it until then I advise you to keep reading. Not really romance there to the mc's past, but it's more of a very small subplot. The translator is really putting a lot of effort in and you can feel the quality while reading.

You can read this if you have nothing else to read.

At first, it was interesting but at a certain point, I just lost interest. It's a lot better than other otome game novels, but after the first hundred chapters or so, it starts to become really boring. There's still a lot of action and mystery but character development feels lacking and the MC is just solving one mystery after another. It gets tiring.

Plus, I don't know if I'm the only one, the way otome game novels are written is really... more>> annoying. <<less

I started really liking the first arc. The world and the magic system is quite enjoyable to read compared to all the isekai stuff out there right now. The story itself was a fine ride.

What made me drop it though is how the 2nd arc felt like there was no improvement at all with the only change being setting and character.

MC and characters are quite boring tbh, even though some interactions are amusing it isnt anything special.

No matter how I looked at this, fighting was unlikely to be avoided.

But, I didn’t know why Palug would try to kill me.

I mean, did I raise a death flag without noticing?

Please forgive me for being surprise.]

There was a lot of descriptions describing things that helped with the worldbuilding but not so important (I completely forgot after reading it). Something like describing the magic wand materials for 4-5 lines " It was made with the wood from the ship that sailed 10 years without sinking....."and so on. It would be fine if it was once in a while, one after another chapter is too much for me.

Other than that it is pretty interesting if you do not mind the MC's character or long descriptions. <<less

I like how the title is a play on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, where the author inverted the characters and place them into an dark fantasy otome game and reinterpreted classics and weave them into the worldbuilding. Although some things may be lost in translation, the translators loved it enough to provide nuggets of explanation.

For those who are into powerful MC that seems to be able to walk the moment they are born, please get over your dopamine addict selves. This is not about someone reincarnated to a... more>> game world, its a setting. <<less

This is one of my favorites. I like villainess stories, but I can't say others were as fun as this one. Not sure how to described it, but when I read something great, I feel like I'm watching a movie and can't look away.

The MC is smart, outgoing, and compassionate, but serious to the point that it's silly sometimes. She may seem weak, but it's highly arguable if you take her relations, position, and resources into account.

I enjoy the fact that there is no hard-core romance since it keeps the... more>> suspense going. The characters interactions, may it be friend or foe, are very entertaining. Love the reactons. I'll admit that the serious details of the overall situation can be a bit hard to keep up for some readers (especially if you think too much like I do), but that's part of the fun of a mystery.

While reading, I can't help but wonder just how much time and effort the author put into world building and background stories. I feel like the pase tends to fit the situation well.

Translations are smooth and the occasional visuals are much appreciated. New chapters come out slowly, but personally I can say that it's well worth the wait. <<less

The world is creative and exciting, so it really hurts me to say that I have dropped this novel. It's such a shame, the magic system of the alchemists and the world of monster was simply great.
HOWEVER, the protaganist is an idiot. She is introduced as an individual who is trying to avoid her death flags, but her actions when viewed seem to indicate the opposite. She is reckless and lacking in common sense when she willingly heads into areas that she knows is dangerous, yet does so anyway.

Spoiler

It's ridiculous since she is supposed to be someone who doesnt want to die, but in the second arc, when she resolved a death flag by not being an as*hole to one of the 'capture targets' who would've killed her later. She willingly gets involved into a situation that could get her killed - she doesnt even do proper preparations. I can understand why she would rush in -dont get me wrong - due to time constraints, But the least she could do is inform her older brother or someone else before diving into an area of su*cide.

Similarly, when faced with an obvious riddle, where atleast 90% of people could answer correctly "fire", she chooses something else that clashes with one of the riddle prompts, so it makes no sense why she would've chosen it!

[collapse]

Honestly, if you can get past the main character's actions which clash against her supposed interest of self-preservation, then you can give this a try.

TDLR; This world of monsters is incredible but the protaganist ruins it. <<less
