Shenmo Cemetery, resting place of ancient Gods and Demons. An inconspicuous grave, surrounded by the tombs of giants, lies at the side. Suddenly, a young man emerges from the grave.

This novel is recommended if you want to see a huge sadistic princess beat up the protagonist and s*ave him, I read a lot and it did not changed, the MC went to freedom to hell time and time again and then became a s*ave, the princess beat him up a lot like a demon, its like the plot is about the princess f*cking up the MC.

Also the MC hardly changes, he is still a wimp even after volume 2, no character grow at all.

Well, im definetly done with... more>> this... I skipped over up to volume 3 and is still the same situation as the first 10 chapters... MC get f*cked up by the princess then he managed to reverse things and now the princess got what she deserves and this happens again and again all up to volume 3 where the MC yet again got f*cked up <<less

You are into reading about a story with a masochistic MC who never learns from his mistakes and keeps falling for some of the dumbest stuff out.

He keeps getting physically and mentally dominated by this 15-16 year old girl through the whole 27 chapters I read falling for her petty plots and the author writes as if him understanding that whenever she acts dumb she is faking it so its somehow OK to fall for ploys he's already aware of.

I don't know but the author seemed to have wanted a story about this little girl because he can't stop writing about every little sht she does to the point that you can't see who the MC is (dual MCs don't work especially with his poor plot skills)

And this definitely is not XianXia, the author can't even keep up with MC's power progression or even bother to explain the skill he trains in.
One time he got sucked dry by the little girl of all his power and then later on, even though he had been cured of some issue, his power just returns and it ended just like that.

The best description is that this novel is like those JP LN with wimpy MCs, sadistic female who don't get what's coming fr them but constant forgiveness and lastly no real plot but constant drama between two badly written characters where almost every character has an extreme personality. <<less

Chen Nan get's very strong but slowly. He doesn't rely on anyone and have to improve by himself without the help of 'Heaven Defying Treasures' that other novels have. His character is good and very real, not like other xianxia/xuanhan protagonist who are brutal and full of non-sense. Chen Nan knows how to deal and act in situations. Anyways, he gets really OP later on and even beats up some Lord Gods. The romance in this novel is very complicated. He will have children later on and they play part in the story too. His children aren't those kind of children in other stories which will obey the MC and do whatever he say. In fact the children are very funny, especially how they were born... also they are very OP. Trust me, their birth circumstances is as complicated as the romance. And Chen Nan is a very good father to his kids, though the youngest twins always complain about 'Child Labor' while possessing their 'real mother' Tantai Xuan to fight. Overall, the story is really good later on. The ending is good too, although it was a little bit tragic. And he cries a lot... this novel is very emotional that it made me spill some tears.

Anyways, as long as you read at least around 150 chapters then you will find the story really good because the plot is very thick and all the mysteries are solved by the end of the story. If you haven't then you will find this novel very frustrating and hard to continue because of his continuous suffering from the people around him.

I rate this novel 4.9/5.0! Why?! Because of the tragedy!! His suffering is unbearable and the author is a sadist!

Chen Nan is one of the best and respectable MC's out there who is not a killing machine. But a human who cries and suffers like others too. <<less

This novel along with Coiling Dragon started the xianxia wave in Asia. It is just a bit sad to see how it is so unpopular in the west. I'm not sure if it is because of the prevalent thoughts that a Chinese MC has to be perfect and get all the girls or not, a bit too wish-fulfillment for my taste. The MC is just a poor child with his family dead, and he wasn't a talented/extremely intelligent person to begin with. As much as I like ATG and MGA... more>> for how mindlessly enjoyable they are, certain works like this are downvoted just because the MCs aren't a living god or possess some weaker traits. <<less

If I could give it negative stars, I would.

There seemed to be potential, but the MC is weak and the female leads are horrible. I can't stand MCs who let themselves be dragged around pathetically by others... so it wasn't for me.

It actually made me quite sad, because initially I thought that the MC's backstory was really interesting, and I was hoping to find out more about that. Instead, getting stuck with the constant, unreasonable back-and-forth between the MC and the little girl blew it for me.

I don't expect... more>> an MC to be perfect. I just prefer the type who stand up for themselves. <<less

This novel has a slower build-up. The main character wakes up and has to slowly gain strength. The focus therefore is not on the action but on character interplay and back story. If you think watching an old couple fight is funny, and have the idea of "win some loose some" you will enjoy this novel immensely. Everyone rants about the sadistic princess, but she plays a minor part. After the first arc, she won't appear anymore.

After 100 chapters MC gets very strong. Somewhere around the half of the novel (300) chapters, the author starts a new book and this turns into a summary more than a novel. It just tells the tale of MC. Hardly any dialogue. No growth in character and MC gets stronger with no problems. He won't have to harvest resources or train. He just gets stronger by unlocking his inner power and... more>> rage.

"Strong" opponents gets introduced and have their heads slashed off within a few chapters, so you don't have to get attach to them. They're just as flat as the other minor characters.
Realms and every living thing in them will be killed by the evil and uberstrong opponents, but it won't matter to you, because those realms are not introduced. There is no story about them, so you won't feel attached to them.

The novel started great actually. Very epic worldbuilding, character growth and unique supporting character. And a dark mystery as a red line to keep the story going. But this falls apart once the author decides to take on a side project. <<less

As I read this novel and when it stuck so I was forced to cont with raw. I can say that at first this novel intrigue me because he is an ancient fossil that survive through 10, 000 year. I was expecting some sort of expert of xianxia and OP MC but through out the chapter, I realized that the MC is:

– raise flag with best girl everywhere but not a harem or easy to get into trouble with beauties...

It seems like it is hard to see when the MC will get another decent girl and the MC seems s*upid for fall in the same trap over and over (so actually his 10k years dormant + his 20+ years life experience didn't give him any knowledge about real world)

The setting of this world is consist of 4 major powerhouse:

1. Xiuxianist or immortal that can use flying sword as usual.

2. Magician that use basic element spell and can flight

3. Dragon rider & Dragon + knight

4. Martial artist. Train in martial arts the lower powerhouse from all above.

Our MC born from martial path. So his power is the most weakest and the hardest to train. Up to the current ch I read (raw) I only know the power level is divided in 5 rank. and only couple above rank 5 mentioned.

overall I can say that, if you want have a comedy adventure with slap stick, you can read this. There isn’t any serious mood yet but I hope there is.

As I read the raw up to ch 150, there seems to by a mystery to be unlock to many hidden expert.

I just hope they will soon be exposed.

Interesting story, as the story blends in eastern and western fantasy together, however, he completely ruins it. As you know the east has thousands of years of superior history and the west cannot compare. The main character of Shen Mu also likes crapping all over western dragons by calling them pregnant flying lizards. It seems like the inferiority complex of the author passed onto the main character Chen Nan.

Never have I dropped a novel so quick. Probably because I expected a good xuanhuan and this just isn't it. And I was so hooked from the synopsis and all.

Either you love it or hate it (very much), which can be decided from the focus and concepts, so do yourself a favor and read the tags and reviews before trying. (Tho I think the male protag is perfunctory, because plot aside, the cover pretty much reflects who is in the "spotlight"). Sadly it isn't my type.

I felt that this story had potential but the MC is ridiculously s*upid and the female lead is just a worthless love interest that doesn't really contribute to the plot outside of causing trouble for the MC. The MC is "powerful" but it essentially doesn't matter because he still gets his ass dragged around by the female which basically makes any strength gain worthless because it's like he has cancer but also the cure to cancer but he doesn't get rid of the cancer because it's a part of him.
