I did not have much hope with Xianxia novels as most of them as just MC moving from smaller to larger country every 50 chapters maybe join bigger sect or access some secret realm and in the way slap some faces which again rinsed & repeated never going back to his homeland.

I had always wondered why the MC not stay at his homeland and develop this sect. This novel answers that question. The MC is very practical, knows when to press his advantage and when to take a step back.... more>> He not just does cultivation but also handles sect duties. I found the novel has good pace and fun to read. Max&Koga has done a good job of translating and the paid chapters are accessible at reasonable price. Totally worth it... <<less

The novel is quite fast paced. It doesn't linger on small details an is better read as a chronicle of a Sect's rise than the typical wuxia or xianxia novel which hyperfocuses on the MC's every move. In that sense the novel does a great job of avoiding repetetive tropes. At the same time, there is considerably less content focused on making the individual characters appeal to the reader. While I wouldn't go so far as to say that each character lacks any dynamism or unique qualities entirely, I would... more>> say that the author focuses on removing as much 'frill' and 'filler' as possible in those circumstances. Moreover, once a character has been established, they are there to serve a function in the progression of the sect - character development takes a backseat.

Despite this criticism, however, I would go so far as to say this is one of the better novel, and definitely one that I thoroughly enjoy. While not perfect, this novel scratches an itch few others do. There is no face-slapping, no unnecessary arrogant young masters, no mind-numbingly s*upid dialogue. This is a dangerous world, where resting on your heels means being unprepared for the schemes of your nominal allies.

The focus of the story isn't the accumulation of personal power, but the prosperity of the sect situated within this dangerous world. In that sense, this novel offers something unique; something that other novels could learn from. <<less

I really like the main character of this story, although some may call him spineless or a push over if you have over 2 brain cells you know he's making the right decisions 90-95% of the time.

Where I'm at in the novel he's currently just starting to gain momentum and is (sort of) stepping up in his cultivation world (as in the area his sect is located) although this may seem to take a long time he did start from being a bottom feeder in a desolate place to... more>> his current position.

I highly recommend this novel or at least give it a try if you like MC's who actually give thought to the consequences of their actions and don't (openly) mess with someone stronger than them without some thought into what might happen.

This novel is like eating dry pancake with no syrup; you can eat a couple but after a while you'll have to force yourself.

Each chapter is mostly narrated, the MC talks to himself out loud to explain things and conversations are overly formal or there to drive the plot forward. The novel reads like a bucket list. There are no human emotions besides the enemies being angry or people being scared, especially so for the MC.

The concept is also flawed from the very beginning. If there are no cheats or... more>> a system and his starting area is a desert devoid of resources the only way to make an entire sect powerful is through plot armor and luck. His enemies weaken themselves for no reason and he finds resources at his doorstep. I'm not very keen on this type of novel.

This novel starts slowly and rises up with the MC who is the Taiyi Sect's sect master. The place where Mc's sect is located is a very REMOTE DESERT like location and due to that MC has to face hardships and bow his head down again and again. But slowly but surely MC rises.

It is a sect focused novel with main focus on MC helping the sect rise. MC HAS NO CHEAT, and he has to face HARDSHIPS. I would recommend the if you like sect building and don't like overpowered system crap plot.
