When the end of the world arrived, our main character was on a ship…

Sirens that originally wreaked destruction and brought upon fear in legends, transformed into beautiful, benevolent mermaids in the minds of humans because of fairy tales. The reality was that they preferred to drag humans below the endless, turbulent waves…

Living in a post-apocalyptic world, there is no guarantee of survival. Waiting for death in a hopeless situation, just as Xia Yi thought that he’d be eaten alive by sea monsters, he encountered an unimaginable event.

Ok, I won't lie, I picked this novel mainly because of its beautiful illustration. Who does not love it? I can look at it all day long. (Salivating). I got high expectation because of it. And the introduction didn't let me down. It is not your typical apocalypse story as it does not focus on land instead it focuses more on what happen in the ocean.

Apparantly our MC is autistic. Don't worry it is not a spoiler. It will be explained in 1 or 2 chapter. He does not feel... more>> fear or other emotions but can mimic them stiffly from a movie.

BUT there is a lot of contradiction where as I said before he does not feels fear but he fear of dying. What? I liked the plot around when he found ML but as it goes on it turns into food findings/learning story. I know its necessary since they are not in land but I just feel that they have nothing much to do. The story is not engaging and I quickly lost interest in it. <<less

I think that this could be considered as a yaoi since there are pa pa pa scenes but they're just not really detailed.

This novel isn't really the blood inducing and heart rate increasing novel about the Apocalypse. It more on the life of the MC with the ML while living under the ocean and spending their time with the sea monsters. (The cute but misunderstood sea monsters *laughs*)

The novel is also more on slice of life (?) since there's little to no heavy conflicts and life threatening situations.... more>> Everything gets solved easily. My favorite part is:

Mini spoiler

Spoiler

All of the supernatural people think that "Shay"/"Shayi" (ML's pronunciation of MC's name.) is a new species of sea monsters.

The people were really raking their brains to find out what "kind" of sea monster is the MC since the conversations of the sea monsters are hilarious.

It's around Chapter 168 when the people discovered that Xia Yi was in fact a person.

A person who can live and breathe underwater due to his power and create/control huge amounts of water. (He's one of the most powerful supernaturalists.)

[collapse]

The novel is really more on the "underwater world" and sometimes I even skim through the chapters that involve the land and plots of the people who live on land. I just wanted to read about the sea monsters and the ML and MC.

I finished the novel because the sea monsters really intrigued me and the character development of the MC and ML (their romance) was quite nice to read about. They're not that good at words and expressing thenselves but the thought is there.

The novel is very easy to MTL. I just have to warn you that you'll have to adjust about the sea monsters' name because the translation and the MTL versions really differ. Other than that, it's alright since the author always describes them and you get to distinguish the characters. <<less

Apart from the original authors descriptions of people with autism and aspergers being Big Yikes, it's very well written and an enjoyable read.

It's quite a nice slice of life story about the MC travelling the oceans with the merman that claims the MC as his. The sea monsters that appear in the story are really interesting to get to know about.

If you're hoping for an apocalypse survival story, no it is not. It's a light read if you like the oceans. Story jumps POV here and there occasionally, ocean to land side characters. Only, I'm a bit disappointed about the ending as it simply ends as if it is just another day... more>> of going to bed. (184 chapters)

Overall, it feels like the pair went on honeymoon trip and MC being provided for. *Laughs* [There's hot scenes 'fade to black'] <<less

Interesting and different. I actually liked the trio side characters that we followed since the beginning. It is unique to actually read apocalypse story as a bystander without the MC being involved with all the angest.

I very much enjoyed the wonders and bits of science in the story. However, towards the end I got kinda bored of it.
