A collection of interactions between our leads within the first 20 chapters.

Edited to put in spoilers. Again it's just the first 20 chapters so it shouldn't hurt any reader's enjoyment, but still, just in case.

Spoiler

FL thinks about wrangling up some delicious spiders and scorpions to eat with the ML for dinner.

Me: Well it says she's poor. She has to make do with what she can get, spiders probably taste better than starving to death right? What? She has a river full of fish, a full vegetable garden, lots of fruit trees, and a bear ready and able to hunt her up some venison? O-okay that is a little odd...

FL contemplates """accidentally""" letting the ML die so she can preserve his corpse.

Me: That sounds pretty bad, yeah. But she doesn't do it! Everybody has weird thoughts sometimes, so long as nothing comes of it, it's fine... right?

FL pushes past the weakened, bed ridden ML's puny struggles and forcibly licks his eyeball.

Me:... wut?

FL ignores ML's clear unwillingness (as well as all common sense on how someone who is partially paralyzed with three broken ribs, among other bones, aught to be treated) and ties him to her back to take him to climb a tree.

Me: Uhhhhh.

After coming down from the tree the FL has trouble undoing the knot binding the ML to her back. Realizing he wants down, she punishes the clean freak ML for being reluctant to be strapped to her back by pressing his hand into the mud.

Me: This is kind of awful, actually.

While washing the ML to cheer him up after the mud incident, FL (without permission) shaves his body and tries to apply some sort of permanent hair loss solution to him to "mark" him as hers. Proceeds to lie about this being for the sake of his medical treatment.

Me: Scratch that, this is definitely horrific, actually.

ML hunger strikes after the shaving incident. FL is indignant, how dare he express his anger in the only way available to him as a bed ridden patient. Doesn't he know how hard she works for him!

Me: Oh man, I've known people who get mad at you for being upset about how they've mistreated you. It's the worst. Run ML!

FL leaves for a couple days to get something to help with ML's treatment. Comes back to a no longer angry ML, and a warm meal. FL is happy and doesn't want to re-anger the ML.

Me: Alright, maybe this is just what they needed. ML asserted himself, FL seems to have resolved herself to be more considerate. There's still hope for this-

FL immediately turns around and fries up a plate of spiders and scorpions for the picky eater ML.

Me: And dropped.

What makes me feel like this novel deserves my time is-- the leads.

I had no expectation for the story as I was afraid this would be a very cliche novel with nothing to be expected. Well, I was wrong. If you don't like scheming ML but not so genius FL or a story where both leads are geniuses taht could defy the heaven, then, in my opinion you're not suited for this novel. If you like strong leads where they are equal, then go ahead and click the translation's... more>> link.

The FL captivated me with her simple thoughts, the way she progressed from having no feelings, to loving ML. The way she tried to learn things in order to stay alive in the muddy water of the capital. Her attitudes to people. This story isn't one where the FL would think, 'Oh I'm such a genius pretty girl everyone has to kneel before me.'

The way her insecurities became an obstacle for her relationship. Trust. Something that ML promised to her. She's simple but that doesn't mean she's s*upid, one simply has to be clear to make her understand. ML learned about it and no longer became vague. ML only needed to guide her a bit for her to have understanding of the power struggle in the capital. She understood and knew ML for who he really was, instead of a prince who became the mighty regent.

Her insecurities, her dillemmas, her simple personality.

Spoiler

I was caught of guard when he asked ML's maid whether she loved him. She told the maid that she would give her time to make ML fall in love with her and she would leave ML to her. I think this happened after FL's realization that Ghost Valley -her sect- didn't allow it's members or disciples to fall in love. They could fool around and things, but falling in love with someone would make them expelled.

[collapse]

People respected ML and thought very highly of him, only FL knew how lazy that man was. FL found out that ML preferred simple things but he was too lazy to correct his people's misunderstandings about his favourites. The thing that warmed me the most is when he told FL to give him her trust and he would never disappoint her. It's amazing to see him coped with different roles-- a regent, a teacher, a trusted official, an uncle, but also someone who didn't mind to make his hands dirty to keep his country strong.

He told the little emperor numerous times that he should never trust him and like how he wouldn't mind killing him.

His gentleness and patience towards FL is really warming. I love that he tried his best to understand FL and he understood that FL's thought were molded from her past and he couldn't force her to change it in a short time.

By the way, FL was a wild one on bed though. I think it's not that ML couldn't beat her, he just couldn't bear to. The result was--- he had to receive bites from his wifey. FL loved to bite ML's skin.

P.s: I might edit this review one day. <<less

What a hidden treasure!!! I had no idea what this would be like going into it but for a quick synopsis:

Basically a not so street-smart ghost doctor x fake white rabbit prince regent. It's actually what seems to be an incredibly OP couple which sounds boring but alas, they're like real people- with feelings and well-planned ideas. They're not completely white-washed kind characters nor are they two-faced evil characters. They're very human which makes this story so nice to read, they are naturally suspicious and have the same desires as... more>> regular people- they feel lonely, they crave love, and they just happen to find it in each other.

FL is really interesting- she's a genius in medicine and martial arts but she's quite childlike. She wants to travel the world and heal people and her real passion is in medicine. Money, fame, and power mean nothing to her. She just works to continue living. She heals people in exchange for noodles. However, she's no fool. She grew up in an environment that forces her to be suspicious of people and she has plenty of emotional walls up. She feels lonely and doesn't quite know how to express herself correctly. However, she's very endearing in that she is quick to anger but also very quick to apologize and know she's in the wrong. (Probably why she's so lovable).

ML is so sweet. He's a schemer and he even plans things around the FL but he does so many things to show that he loves her and he would never harm her. He's someone incredibly respected but FL knows nothing about that and just treats him like a normal person. I can see how someone who is always put on a pedestal also feels lonely and craves normal interactions (which is what he gets from FL).

Their relationship is interesting. It's quite slice-of-life like, they just eat porridge, take walks, and raise a bear. Even when we get to the political intrigue part, they continue to live inside their own bubble. Despite being taken for broken sleeves (FL dresses as a guy to avoid confrontation with others), they still act as a couple and really don't care for what other people say or do. They treat other as family and it's really quite warming and sweet. One thing I really enjoy about this couple is that they have their own goals and neither of them force the other to follow only one path- they just support and allow each other to be free.

Overall, a nice OP couple who are not so OP in the emotional realm that somehow find each other's perfect partner in each other. A little smidgen of ghostly doctors, martial arts, and political intrigue.

10/10 would rec to read!! <<less

I think it is well written but honestly the female lead is kind of... I respect her character and her drive, she is a very strong and self sufficient character. The male lead is a bit picky since he is of nobler birth so I understand why people dislike him. I'm indifferent but the only thing that puts me off is the way the female lead is acting around him, I understand he's very good looking but some of her actions translates as really creepy for me.

I understand everything is... more>> a give and take and she should obviously ask for compensation for trying to heal someone that might use up all her supplies and even then maybe still stay in a wounded state. But at the very least she should try to have a more noble mindset, she would have odd thoughts and do some odd actions that made me uncomfortable.

Maybe I'm just a bit too sensitive about it but around chapter 47 or 48 when she

proposes to him and thinks about how to essentially trap him with her and even thinking about deflowering him

[collapse]
. Before this chapter though her actions and thinking was tolerable, questionable, but for the most part tolerable.

There was some instances like

when she cleans his hands meticulously, but that could read as endearing in some ways. Or when she had asked to kiss his eyes even though she had asked her master and another man before this very same question and got a very very negative response.

[collapse]

Her behavior in general was quite odd to me. Their interactions for the most part is pretty okay, sometimes stale. I like how considerate she is to him, the male lead is pretty closed off but he isn't mean to her unless it's about hygiene and cleanliness. <<less

This novel deserves more.

I like the FL character, with her simple mind and hardworking. Even though sometimes it would cause herself in trouble. ML are quite good too.

I've mtl read it and the ending is good. Pretty much satisfying.

You know, if you want romance I don'think you will like to read this. There no villain in this novel. Everything has cause and effect, and I think all the character is in the gray area. It's not boring, it just I feel dissapointed because I hope of romance and aomething cliche, but no, this novel is like reading dao. Just like I said before, all tge character is gray, and all of it is because cause and effect

I wasn't gonna leave a review however after reading Whitebook's review which has many upvotes I decided to do one. If I had read that review before reading I would've thought the MC was an insensitive jerk who was abusing and mol*sting the Ml, while nothing could be further from the truth.

MC is a doctor who tends to self-deprecate a lot. Always thinking she is inadequate or dumb or not strong enough, while in truth she is very strong and talented in all things. However, living in seclusion has caused... more>> her to think that.

After saving the ML in order to fend off marriage proposals and men aggressively pushing themselves on her, she strikes a deal with the ML to be married for 1 year in exchange for treating him (she was going to do it anyway, but still asked this because she liked him).

After taking him in the ML just doesn't talk. it lasts like this for like 20 chapters. So much that he tries to walk by himself and has bruises, the MC is incapable of asking him about it and has to hide to know what is happening to him.

He is some kind of prince or something so in addition to not talking, he is a picky eater and a prideful man.

I'm gonna comment on whitebook's review now:

The MC does like to eat bugs and spices, she only contemplated about offering them to the ML but thought better as she remembered how other people reacted before, so she just gave him seafood with herbs, in which he threw all the herbs. He is a bit picky.

Then she constantly tries to get him out in the sun, even though he doesn't like being outdoors. She tied him to her and climbed a tree and he liked the view. After going down she couldn't easily untie the ropes, and he tried and failed too, so she just carried him back to the house which hurt his pride (she felt hurt too as she felt he didn't want to be with her).

She tried to distance herself from him before by going to the village a lot, and he confronted her and told her he agreed to be with her for this 1 year and she shouldn't do this.

She didn't put his hands in mud to punish him, this happened while untying the ropes after she carried him, and she immediately washed it for him.

She shaved him on which he stopped talking to her because she wanted to perform acupuncture on him, it wasn't her branding him and I have no idea where this came from it's not mentioned!

I don't know if I made this worse... but I hope I negated some of the negative comments.

The MC is very hardworking, talented, and considerate. She isn't a pe*vert or someone who mistreats the ML <<less

Underrated, Hidden gem, mtled, HE......

Love both the MC and ml, both have their own expertise, like the character development, especially when they live at the capital.
