In his previous life, Song Yunzhi died from overwork. After reincarnating as the eldest grandson of the richest family in Linzhou, he was determined not to be swayed by the system’s temptations and vowed to live a carefree, laid-back life. Studying? Why bother studying? Are slingshots not fun enough, or are crickets not entertaining enough? Unfortunately, his peaceful life didn’t last long. At the age of six, Song Yunzhi’s idyllic existence encountered a minor hiccup—

Bad news: His widowed father, who had nothing but good looks, was framed, and the father-son duo were about to be exiled.

Good news: His father caught the eye of the recently divorced eldest daughter of the Prime Minister’s family and successfully became her new husband!

Life in the Prime Minister’s residence wasn’t easy. Song’s father, a naive and brainless pretty face, was no match for anyone in the household. Watching his father, who was furious but could only hug him and cry, six-year-old Song Yunzhi frowned and reluctantly picked up a brush. Life is hard, sighed the little slacker.

Song Yunzhi originally just wanted to live a slightly more comfortable life, but somehow, he accidentally earned the reputation of a child prodigy. Then, by another accident, he topped the imperial examinations and became the top scholar. And yet another accident later, he became the emperor’s most trusted confidant.

Song Yunzhi had planned to quit while he was ahead, but it seemed it was already too late. The Emperor: “This difficult task shall be entrusted to Minister Song. This one too, and this one, and this one, and this one—”

Thought this would be interesting however it just wasn't for me, for future readers I would say take the reincarnation with a grain of salt because...

Although the MC has memories of his past life, it doesn't mean there's an adult in a child's body like most reincarnation novels tend to portray. Instead it's a child who knows they had a past life but is still a child which is why I inevitably dropped it as the MC was portrayed too realistically as a child. Comparing it to other novels with child protagonists, they are usually somehwat bright for their age and have a high level of emotional intelligence which while the MC shows this at times I just couldn't get past how often he'd cry. From chapter 2 and so forth it feels like he's cried every chapter which based on the circumstances is an accurate portrayal of a child in that situation but I came here with the expectations that due to his past memories the MC would be more composed and more intelligent. If not for the system the MC is quite frankly just an id*ot. Don't even get me started on his father....... If they removed the reincarnation aspect maybe I'd accept it a bit more but children tire me out enough in real life already, reading this makes me feel like I'm babysitting and it's draining. I read to relax not to get more stressed.

I don't really give reviews but this one just irked me a bit (and I'm bored). But that's just my take as someone who has only read 9 chapters, not my cup of tea and it might get better in later chapters but I have limited patience so I personally won't continue <<less
