Xie Duo and Shen Antu are infamous sworn enemies in Z City. One day they’re seizing each other’s territory, the next they’re sabotaging each other’s business. If they’re not fighting, they’re on their way to a fight.

But one day, Shen Antu’s private plane crashes. Taking advantage of the chaos, Xie Duo sends his men to abduct him from the site and holds him captive. When Shen Antu regains consciousness, he suffers from amnesia due to his injuries. To test whether the memory loss is real, Xie Duo claims to be Shen Antu’s boyfriend.

Everyone assumes Xie Duo is doing this to humiliate Shen Antu, but only Xie Duo knows the truth: this “sworn enemy” has always been the unattainable white moonlight he’s secretly yearned for all these years.

im ngl I did not want to post this review because I feel the main characters can be easily mischaracterised and hated upon. Me personally lovedddddddd their characterisation. It was the main reason I stayed throughout the novel despite the pacing pissing me off. The only negative aspect of this novel is the pacing which gets too drag-y throughout.

Except he lost his memories, and ML wanted to test him whether he is lying or not and hence declares himself as mc's boyfriend bc he thought MC must hate him so he would never accept to be his boyfriend.

let's talk about MC, shen antu/shen lin. (For the sake of of mc's preference ill refer to him as shen antu) he is a very very complex character and it makes you want to hug him so bad. He had a rough life and built himself to who he is digging through dirt and some inevitable money laundering crimes. Honestly I loved how raw he is as a character. It made me love him so much more. Due to his past deeds, he feels undeserving of ml, his bai yueguang. Most parts of his characterisation is a spoiler for the second half of the novel hence I can't really dig deeper. But he can be rather frustrating with his decisions, just know he loves ml. A lot. So much that it actually hurts you terribly. I feel I won't be able to handle shen antu's hate, hence I am defensive about him.

let's delve at ml's side, oh he is a yearner. MC as well. MC loved him for 12 years while he loved MC for 10 years. They were in same class during their high school days but both being newbies in love neither had the courage to confess thinking its not requited. He never wanted to take advantage of MC so even tho he declared himself as mc's boyfriend he didn't try to sleep w him (until MC got fed up and went, "im not sick!! Ive recovered from accident! Please f*ck me!") he is so gentlemanly it rather hurts. There was a portion where it said that after MC remembers, he doesn't mind dying in mc's hands for deceiving him. His words:

Even though he knew that Shen Antu's love was a disguise and limited in time, even though he knew it was poison wrapped in sugar, at this moment Xie Duo made up his mind to swallow it, and then wait for the poison to take effect and die in the sweetness.

also ML has slight lowkey yandere tendencies (very hot of him wbk). He has expressed a lot of times of wanting to never let MC recover his memories and remain under his guidance and never leave him. He almost acted on it. Sdjksdknsm trust me he is a sweetheart he just has insecurities! He also gave MC a chance to run away when he knew MC recovered his memories (he didn't try to question MC he just let him run away if he wanted). He is so god awful downbad about MC its rather hurtful. Well tbf both are high on yearning.

honestly their yearning kinda hurt me so bad I couldnt stop crying for a long while. Its not sad, its just so painful to know how they suffered in their yearnings. I love mc's yearning more than ml's though. Its the way even after turning into a cold hearted shrewd guy in everyone's eyes when he became powerful, he still felt nervous like a teenager when he met ML again that he didn't even dare to meet his eyes. LIKE HOW CAN U HATE THAT CUTIE!!!

all in all, I feel this is not a novel for everyone and I understand if people don't like it. But I loved it. They mean the world to me.

actually its a 4.5 star novel for me. I love both of them equally. Only the pacing reduced the rating. It feels rather dog blood-y and predictable but its still ache-y. <<less

This is a relatively shorter novel, so there aren't any extensive or immersive flashback scenes, which I feel would have helped me relate more to the characters and be able to really empathize with them. Regardless, I did really like Shen Antu's personality and backstory, and I especially loved his flirtatious nature. While the novel starts more in Xie Duo's perspective, Shen Antu is definitely the protagonist of the novel and the main plot driver, especially by the midpoint.

If I'm being honest, I didn't care too much for Xie Duo... more>> beyond how much he cared for Shen Antu. His personality is pretty one note (being obsessively in love with Shen Antu) and he's basically your standard cold, perfect CEO ML. He was so extremely obsessive and creepy with his 24/7 surveillance and constant monitoring of Shen Antu's every action, that I was thrown off by the lighthearted tone when describing these scenes. I didn't actually feel too creeped out though:

I was also originally annoyed at how the s*x scenes were mostly all domineering gong x helpless shou, but it actually makes sense at least for Shen Antu to be acting like that in the context of the story:

Basically since Shen Antu is hiding his sharp and more vicious side, he acts more helpless in bed and will cry for Xie Dou to stop, but once he sheds this layer he takes more control.

The novel is overall a little mindless and trope-y, but the pacing is decent and I liked the balance of fluff to suspense. Not a really emotional novel, as while there's parts that get a little dark, they're all in the past so there's a sense of emotional detachment as a reader. Still, I really enjoyed Shen Antu's character so my stars are all for him. <<less
