The story centers around the treasure of Nanana, a ghost who was once a beautiful but a NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) girl. A boy named Juugo was disowned by his father and forced to transfer to a high school on the “Special Student Zone,” an artificial island. With only 40,000 yen a month to live on, Juugo chooses a low-rent apartment that happens to be haunted by Nanana. Juugo and members of the school’s adventure club join a “treasure hunt royale” on the island for the Nanana Collection, a treasure that possesses a mysterious power.

While the world building is kind of nice (even if it doesn't makes sense at times) and some of the characters are great, this novel (at my point of reading) is dragged down by the MC.

The MC is your classic JP MC, a wimp, a little pe*vert, surrounded by girls for some mysterious reason, and his main strategy in a fight is getting punched till the opponents get tired and lose by themselves

Also, that fight against the prez just drained me of whatever interest I had in the novel at that point. Seriously, the dude literally tried to kill him, and he never did as much as at least get one hit, that "fight" was just pathetic.

Read this after watching the anime, which I did like a lot. It isn't amazing, but it is pretty interesting. The premise alone is something I like: Treasure hunting through ruins with traps and puzzles. And a lot of really wacky characters. MC is a weird mix of smart and s*upid though. Partly because he is an unreliable narrator, and we don't actually know how much of what we see of him is even real.
