When I woke up after a pretty crappy death, what greeted me was one of those famous fantasy worlds! I didn’t expect anything like becoming the strongest with a common job, or rising to the top with the weakest class…

All I wanted was to live a slow farming life, but the world just wouldn’t leave me alone! And so I equally backstabbed good people and bad people alike, becoming a villain with a true sense of equality and just when I was about to retire and enjoy a proper life on a farm…

“Master!”

My former disciple at the evil organisation, currently the hero of justice came looking for me. Can’t you all just leave me alone?

This was a great story before the Remake. It's just sad that I can't finish or continue reading either... Both translators dropped it. I would MTL it but I couldn't really figure out how to get the words... After all, I'm only a simple idiot who doesn't speak or read an ounce of any foreign tongue.

I really wanted to like this, but it's boring.

  • POVs are all over the place, going forward and back on the time line, making it confusing and unfocused.
  • MC has 40 year time skip from being a farmer to a 'drill sergeant' for an evil corporation in a few paragraphs.
  • Things that would be a nice plot twist are instead explained in a dumb POV internal monologue.
  • Several POVs of the same scene, including from side and unimportant characters.
  • For more than 20 chapters he's training a new class and nothing really happens.
So much wrong... more>> in so few chapters. Could be forgiven if the story was nice, but it's not. <<less

Finally someone start translate this series which send me into Ecstasy. Basically this story is really similiar with Konosuba except the MC doesn't really have talent and try to act like a villain.

Really recommend it for those who love Reincarnation Story with less focus on Harem and s*x Tags.

And I really Love the Translator's Group Name LMAO

When you compare to the original RATH... this is the level up ver. with more details and elaborate and most importantly Hilarious
To whoever gave 1star are those who want to read serious novel and lots of nitpicking and had not read the First ver. and I bet they hate most Japanese and Korean novel.... might as well just stay at Royal Road and stop complaining Asian Author Novelist mentality

I PRAISE OUR TRANSLATOR Eevee for choosing such fitting group name and translating this novel

I have really mixed feelings about this. I really liked the original so I'm glad that someone took this remake on. My biggest problem is really just... the characters feel way over the top in their reactions. Specifically the whole yandere thing as well as the whole death is better than getting hit by the bat charade. Sure, the bat thing was funny for the first few times but seriously it's f*cking bad when it's very overused. It's been in most of the paragraphs ever since it got introduced and... more>> it's not even that much of a hyperbole when I say that. The best things that happened so far were the really interesting ways he pushed his disciples to their limits and yet when it comes to the previous disciples, it's always the mother f*cking bat. Sure it makes sense if you really want to justify it, but that doesn't make it a great read. It really simplifies the characters to just people who are afraid of the bat. That's 50% of their personality, the rest is like yandere or some shit. That's all there is to their characters.

Also, there are some really questionable decisions that the translator made. Like putting question marks on declarative sentences? It doesn't make sense grammatically? It's not just mildly irritating to read this? Or. When. He. Writes. It. Like. This. When. Someone. Is. Talking. Slowly.

Please, I hope the translator gets to read this and change it, for future chapters at least. Even if that's how it's written in the raw version, Korean and English are different languages. It really cheapens the reading experience for me, it feels more like some teenager on Wattpad wrote this. Which is a shame since by all rights, this is a well thought out story that's already being rewritten. The world setting is really intriguing, there are lots of things mentioned in the background that's really interesting. I've already read the original version so I have faith in where the story is going, at least for the next 40 chapters. I just hope that I had an easier time reading it even though I still did enjoy it. I just don't like it when oh, everyone's afraid of the bat, oh, everyone's afraid of the vice director of intelligence, oh, everyone's afraid of the imperial princess. This yandere bullsh*t is like the female version of being edgy and I hate it. <<less

It's ok just suffers from too many POV change, One chapter you'll have POV of MC then next chapter you have the previous chapter through a different person's POV.

Comedy gets old fast and the characters seem dry and how they make them crazy.

Was 4 star until the extremely boring school arc appeared, I hardly ever like school arcs before as they usually take too long/cliche yet this one takes the cake for dry with the incessant POV's that is usually monologue after monologue.

If you like a lot of POV changes... more>> and snail pace plot advancements that make watching paint dry seem better than read it.

Spoiler

Seeing these 5 star reviews makes me wonder if people are so use to reading garbage that they confuse mildly ok novels as perfect or almost perfect.

After seeing many positive reviews about it's comedy, I was excepting it to be funny. But after reading about 100 chapter, found myself not laughing. The only comedy about this novel is ... more>>
Spoiler

about how crazy, desperate, and talented MC's student became after feeling the pain of getting hit by MC's bat

[collapse]
it maybe funny for the first time but not when it's overuse for over 100 chapters.

Also it's very confusing to read. Every chapter is told from multiple point of view, usually from point of view of three different character. A lot of repetition happens because many of the chapter tell a single event from the point of view of three different character.

Conclusion, I read about 100 chapter of this novel but I found myself bored and didn't actually enjoyed it. <<less

I consider this quite the improvement over the original. The author clipped away a lot of the info dumping that happened early on in the story and expanded a lot more upon the training process of the first 3 disciples of the MC we're introduced to as well as the Yugrasia students.

I've seen some people complain about the new added content for the Yugrasia arc being "filler", but I can't disagree more. The only character (not characters) that ever got any development in the original version was the student council... more>> president himself, while all the other students and teachers were barely there. Even Aris, who was supposed to be trumpeted as one of Yugrasia's major players, was barely more than a bit player in the original. I can't help but see these complaints as simply being impatience towards getting to something "new" (despite all this "filler" actually being new content as well) rather than proper critique towards the quality of the story, since I can only see all this as an improvement due to the added depth given to characters aside from the one guy this arc focused on completely originally.

The original tried to rush the development of new characters during the actual school festival portion of the story, but it was all too last minute and I can understand if that was the reason why the author chose to redo things during this part of the story. <<less

Well, surely it's a hilarious story and a refreshing one while we're at it. However the overused pattern (of jokes and scenarios) is hello annoying, especially during the academy grinding arc. The same word, the same act, the same reaction over and over again, not to mention the side Story and different POV, sure, some of them are funny, but mostly aren't.

P.s. By the way, the tittle should be changed to "Running Away From The b*tches"

i am conflicted.

The earliest chapters (before the school arc) got me hooked right away. The MC is quirky and silly, and the unfolding of that most sacred holy weapon left me totally speechless. A perfect mixture of humor and action, with just the right amount of mystery to keep us turning the pages.

But... the school arc happened. Well, does that can be called an "arc", though?

I had hoped that the plot would start to expand a little bit. Sure, I can handle fillers. After all, we're still at ch 70-ish,... more>> and "fillers" sometimes are necessary to solidify background story or worldbuilding. But... the school "arc" filler is needlessly long. It's kinda repetitious, especially after the 1st "arc", and can certainly be cut in some places. I mean, I wanted to know more about the world, it's condition, the politics, connection between nobles, or anything to expand my "worldview" after being stuck at a sandbox called "facility"! I want to know more about our MC! But instead, we got stuck to another sandbox called "school". The pov changes that once adds the charm to this series start to be an unnecessary hassle, since so little of it actually focuses on our MC, but instead focus on some unknown new characters that I couldn't care less. The world is vague at best, and the system of magic etc are also very, very vague.

And honestly, it's kinda dumb. The MC was supposed to be a man in his 40 or so, with rich experience in the way of the world. Considering his circumstances, why did he do something as flashy as that? Ridiculous.

I'm withholding my judgement about this one. I've heard stellar reviews that was given to the older version, so I thought that i'd stick around untill ch 150 or so. But...I wouldn't put up too much hope in this one.

The high rating is kinda unbelievable, I mean the evil organization arc was pretty fun but once we get into the high school setting the novel becomes stale, it's the same boring joke about the bat over and over and over and over again.

The bat is worst element in the whole story and the least funny to be honest so I'm confused why the author uses it so often.

I also found particularly hard to suspend my disbelief even knowing that I'm reading a nonsense comedy when the school situation is... more>> so asphyxiating su*cide would be a prevalent issue after a month.

It was fine in the evil organization since well... other instructors students would literally die because of overtraining and the kids being trained had no background or anywhere else to go really but the school is backed by nobles and the imposed regime is so excessive it's hard to believe nobody would drop out or worse when you study for 8 hours then get beaten for 6 a day for months with no breaks or holidays.

So yeah, starts funny but gets boring and repetitive pretty fast, you can drop it once the metal bat is introduced. <<less

This is, quite frankly, an awful light novel, and the second most overrated on Novelupdates (the most overrated being Akugyaku no Black Maria). Other posters have outlined the s*upidity of the gags, the repetition (e.g., the bat thing), the lack of any real character development, etc. I really tried to give this a chance, as at least the first 10 or so chapters were interesting, but found no redeeming value once we got to the school arc. I would rate this negative stars if I could.

POV Switches. They are everywhere in this fic like a damn plague. Honestly, the writing is so disjointed that it skips forward into the future then to the past, before it recounts previous scenes, but from another perspective.

There are only three main arcs I've read. A) Evil Organization Arc, B) School Arc and C) Tournament Arc.

All of these story lines hardly feature the MC. We barely get 10% of the word count from his perspective. Generally I tend to avoid multi POV story, and this is a great example as... more>> to why.

I don't recommend others to read this mess of a story. It isn't entertaining, the MC is rather an idiot and his disciples are all masochists/yanderes.

Summary - MC is op instructor. He is dense as f*** with 'brilliant' plans. Yandere students chase him, he repeats old mistakes and nothing really develops in this fic concerning him. He has yet to grow as a character at all and we are forced to read the continuation of his flaws creating adverse effects on his life. Affecting his survivability.

Also, there's some s*upid loli (Silver Devil) metal-staff weapon who talks like an idiot. It's annoying cause all she does his beat people up in an attempt for humor. Which actually isn't funny at all. In fact its cringe af, where the MC look wants to be seen as a wannabee badass alpha, but instead he comes off as a weird beta creep with sadism tendencies

Overall, I would be more disappointed than anything else, but I'm a bit too salty over this troll novel.

Greetings to the successor of the bat!

Finally someone has started translating this masterpiece again!

Well in all honesty I could really say that base on my experience of reading a looot of different novels, this novel is really one of the most hilarious and funniest one that I've ever read.

What's good about this one aside from making some parodies from a lot of different anime/manga/novels the author has the ability to take the reader's interest be it from the way he write the setting, plot to its every character. There's just... more>> nothing that you would hate from this novel

All in all this one is a must read novel for people who's looking to have a stomachache inducing laughter and the likes XD XD <<less

I don't get why people say this is worse, that's just my opinion since I only read the translated English versions and since the original barely got translated. Either way this is just what an isekai would be if you had no cheats. Like god damn he has a sad background but what does he do, he can't do anything since he is weak and so he trains and becomes what an average person can achieve, he is considered strong but only because he is average so he uses everything... more>> he can to survive where pride does no matter and its only a matter winning or losing or just surviving/escaping. I like him for always thinking of the world in a gray manner not idealistic or too pessimistic but always a backup plan in case of something goes wrong. <<less

What can I say? Its a comedy story based around internal monologues and interaction between characters. It does its job as a comedy story very well, with many funny things going on around the main character. The descriptions and general feel of the story always leaves one wanting more.

TL;DR It is a good story.

I love this novel, I really do. And I have been following it for years now. However I would never recommend reading it unless you can read korean. The original translator dropped it and it was then picked up by another group. Sadly Asian Hobbyist translation decayed without limit as it went on and it is now at a point where the translation is worse than unedited mtl. I have never read anything worse translated and I hopefully never will.

MC is an ordinary person, or thinks he is. His worldview is skewed because super humans exist and in order for him to survive in this world he has to plan, strategize, create contingencies, weapons and systems to compensate for what he lacks.

MCs greatest ability is his mind, he often says his past life experiences were pointless, on the contrary he's relied on it in nearly everything he does, his viewpoint and the way he deals with things is why he's successful. He's incredibly smart about reading the environment, situations... more>> and people, if you were to design a "How to survive an isekai" guidebook, I'm sure your brain would kick into overdrive, all the possible tropes and how to avoid, use or understand various situations with that type of commonsense.
Spoiler

Beautiful Yanderes, his awareness of keeping them far away, Dont get involved with trouble, tdon't do too much or too little, when hero's, saints and princesses etc get interested run away... which seems ironic considering he's raised kids into the very thing he's the most gaurded and paranoid about lol

[collapse]

His 2nd greatest asset are his network of people, they are either beneficial or detrimental, how he deals, trades, interacts, uses, betrays, scams, avoids, fights them to achieve his goals is one of his greatest strengths. He also has a knack of being a nexus of power with the types of people he attracts.
Spoiler

He made a very powerful weapon thanks to his people skills, our MC is quite the charmer when he wants to be, stealing precious materials for his weapon of mass destruction, and gathering powerful former disciples into tools he can use later whether they want to or not...

[collapse]

His 3rd greatest asset are his skillsets, in his previous life he trained with the sword, he wasn't anything special it was a hobby he dedicated time and effort, that skill is acknowledged and gains praise for his swordsmanship, which he thinks is a joke, because in this world supermen wield swords.
Spoiler

He goes toe to toe with people like Jedi using an ordinary sword, knives and cheap dirty tricks to defeat them.

[collapse]

His 4th greatest asset is weapon design
Spoiler

the bat... and metal bat, powerful weapons that don't kill but wish it had... reviewers thought it was overused to the point of repetition especially in the school arc, but the bat was just a carrot and stick device, it was MCs Spartan Korean school system that was the main star in that arc and how these characters dealt with it.

[collapse]
the weapon is a great Equalizer/OP force that can't be countered... It's by his design, he helped in its research and development.

The story is funny and interesting, sure there are repetitive parts and maybe some gags got a bit tired, but overall it's a story worth reading and investing time in... The MC evolves while staying exactly the same, where's the growth? He's an 80 plus tired old man, how much growth does he really need? <<less

Months after the latest chapter had been translated, I finally decided to write a review. It's very unfortunate that translation has stopped completely, since this novel is very good. That's enough of my comments though. Let' s jump into the review.

Well, first and foremost. This novel is a comedy and gag novel. If you're looking for something serious, this is definitely not the novel for you. However, it's also not just a cheap comedy novel with no sense of world building, characterization, and plot. Running away from the hero manages... more>> to make full use of its plot and characters to make an extremely funny novel in its entirety.

Most of the novel includes the monologue of our MC. Without it, it wouldn't be nearly as funny nor interesting. However, it's only one piece of the puzzle that makes the novel great. Different perspectives and points of view are sprinkled across the novel so that you get to know the thoughts of all of the parties involved. As a result, you get to know what they think of other characters, what they want to do, and you also get to know all of the characters as a reader. The clash of personalities in the novels and different perspectives make the novel not only extremely funny, but it also makes you wonder what the plot has in for store and builds up all the characters. You'd think that the plot pretty much serves as a backdrop for the comedy, and you'd be kind of right. The comedy certainly relies on the plot, but the plot itself is funny and makes you want to know what's going to happen, since all of the characters are involved in it. And with the plot progressing, the setting and circumstances in which the characters are in all change, and that ensures that the novel will never get boring.

I love all the characters, fantasy setting, the monologue of the MC, and the dialogue, and the switching perspectives throughout the novel. If you like comedic novels, this is one of the best I have read. <<less
