‘Royal Roader,’ the game that I ruled as an overlord was ending its service. Shit! It was my life’s only pleasure.

The last day! I used all of my strength and in-game connections to defeat the final boss monster, Demon Heros.

As a reward, I earned a Marble of Wishes.

[Please state your wish.] My wish? [Royal Roader’s renewal as reality.] I was just joking. I really only wrote it as a joke…

... meh :/

Just a dull wish fulfilment story...

This novel is poorly written, for example: I did this I do that I get that... :/

... more>> Honestly I found idea of this novel interesting, but its execution is too low grade to enjoy since it just makes me furrow my brows at the MC who basically gets everything imediately and is not even entartaining. Other characters too are plain and are just mentioned once or twice to buff up MC and then forgotten.

Anyway, this is not a novel worth of spending time on. And was probably written someone who is 15 at the best? It is just that clumsy as a novel. <<less

The premise was interesting.. However as time went on, the author deviated from the story onto golf. Golf the accursed sport that I didnt give a sh*t about nor care about. Suddenly its the main focus for multiple chapters. You could do anything, but you decided to do golf? GOLF? Anyway, That was my first gripe with this story. Then afterwards author decided to mess with the RPG story as well. Instead of working hard to get everything with a plan.. Now that he is rich and famous he has... more>> completely changed 180 character. All his "plans" turned into "luck". Everything just comes super easy to him. Oh I need a team, so I need to convince the dwarves to help me. Oh but in order to do that, I need an item. Luckily enough I have that item. Etc etc. Imagine it like that 24/7 throughout both stories. Gezz, it is like the author lost his inspiration and just started writing absolute crap. As time went on, I am just trying to read this.. But unfortunately I think this will be my first ever novel that I 100% give up on. I cannot take this anymore. <<less

A very solid evidence of money can change ppl's nature or awaken it. A damn boring wish fulfillment story with everything completely easy, like a feast that somebody served and he only needed to eat. His "hard-working" is like a joke.

World building is poor, and the flow is so plain that it has so many time-skips.

The most intriguing thing about the MC to me is he turned into a player after getting rich (maybe his personalities are still intact). Forgive me, I hate that kind of lifestyle myself so it... more>> really doesnt fit my taste. He turned greedy and got c*cky with what he gained in RR world, and that makes me think that all of those aint free, there'll be a price to pay someday, but atm everything is smooth like I mentioned at the beginning.

Besides, side characters are boring, lack of "existence".

I wonder if this was written by some teenager who's in puberty.

Dropped. <<less

This story is somewhat enjoyable, but it has many faults.

The main was is the Authors obvious lack of life experience.

Spoiler

He doesn't understand how the stock market works but he tries to write about it anyway.

He thinks he can create a school that is best at everything in the world easily. It's also laughable that he said he would find the best teachers and students for the school, but the first person he met that cooked just a little bit good when he visited his family's friends he was considering them for the culinary part of the school. He also talked about a culinary theme park... whatever that is. It's like a childish dream and an immature way of viewing how things work in the world if you ask me.

When he went to buy a house he arrived at a house and didn't even know anything about the house aside from seeing a picture of it. Not even knowing the houses dimensions. He liked the way it looked and that was enough for him. He didn't go looking at other houses at all on such a big investment. He also didn't even get the house inspected first before purchasing it. The owner of the house could have been selling it because it had many problems for all he knows. With the amount of money he had and the amount he spent on the house he could have just bought a plot of land and built his own house exactly how he wanted it and it would have been brand new.

There was also this cringey part where he gave away a lot of money to a poor family with a lot of kids. He handed each of the kids what he called an "Allowance". Didn't talk to their parents first or even really know the family. His mom introduced the family as her friends and this brat decides to just start handing out money because he felt sorry for them. He later would also give away crazy amounts of money for little to no reason at all. You would think that someone who grew up poor would understand the value of money more than others right? I know I would be saving and investing if I suddenly started to make lots of money.

[collapse]

Anyways these reasons and more is what makes it a little hard to read. You can tell the Author has very little life experience. Id say that the Author lives a fairly sheltered life and just writes about things without fully understanding them. I also think it's safe to say this story is being written without much thought. A few times the Author after releasing his work would go back and change details that affected the story greatly and a lot of things in the story just do not make sense at all. <<less

Not the best living in an RPG type world story there is. What story there is, is a poor copy of others.

The story details are a bit bare-bone, and the MC is already forgetting his own previous play through.

A few to many plots are brought up coincidentally, and feels more like the author is coming up with the next idea on the fly rather than a well planned out story.

He has to hunt a lvl 27 werewolf within a few hours to prove to a god that he can own the s*ave he just won in a bet... and he died previously... Its not like he spent a day or 2 prepping a unique method to hunt it before winning the s*ave or anything... Nope, its more like author needed to fill in a chapter, and decided to show of MC beating a werewolf thats lvl 27 when he is lvl 1....

I really enjoy this novel. The concept is new and refreshing (at least I didn't see it anywhere up until now).

We got the MC with sick mother and little sister that lacks money (used several times in other novels)

MC can go back and forth between reality and the game world by just sleeping and waking up. 1 hour in reality is 24 hours in game world.

... more>> He begins to make money in the game world and transfer it in reality and things go forward.

I strongly suggest to check it out. At least the first 8 chapter to get an idea of the world setting and how things work. <<less

This series is so-so. It's a story where making money in another world can translate to making money IRL. I think that it would be much better if the author had made it a complete world transition instead of switching back and forth occasionally.

As I see it, the greatest weakness is the time he spends in the real world, anyways. There's no mention of how he explains his newfound money. It just handwaves things like the IRS (or whatever the Korean version of the IRS is) and fraud detection in... more>> banks that monitor money trends. That's ignoring any explanations to people he knows about where this money comes from. The game time is pretty interesting; the IRL time is shoddy wish fulfillment. Heck, the male NPCs get more recognition from me than the girl he's apparently dating IRL. <<less

The gamer novel version is pretty much the best way to describle this novel and its pretty good.

We got our wish fufillment MC that is poor and work on a car wash that got dump by his GF and got a sick mother and small sister to take care plus his favorite pc game is being shut down. So what happend if the MC can enter inside his game in his sleep with a 1 hour for 24 hours in game, can trasnfer in game money to real life one... more>> and 10% of his stats apply to his real life body well either he becames a rich man or the IRS will arrest his ass.

To early to give a full review but its clear the autor is combing the manhwa The Gamer with LMLS with the whole Royal and hiting rocks or something very similar like a scarecrow to get stats at the start of the game. <<less

Disappointing, the protagonist is just like a child with this game world cheat.

He said that without this another world he will be like a pig or 'empty husk' in real world, he will 'only' have the remaining money he got from the another world. Guess what that 'remaining money' is worth millions of USD and he already got so much other ability in real word from the cheat he take in another world. He is a greedy pig with no redeeming quality other than playing this 'royal road' and handsome... more>> face.

The author want to make the character likeable with adversity, but instead its just showing the main weakness of the character which is soooooo much greed. He already got so many ability that make most human will consider cheat especially the 'focus' he got in the real world. With that he can become the smartest person in the entire planet, or at smart person by just reading books. But guess what, he said it just said it doesn't worth more than his life in another world the 'royal road'.

If that doesnt show the greediness and s*upidness of the protagonist I dont know what does. He do so many s*upid thing and never think carefully, until something already happen then that the time he think, s*upid, very wasted story on such protagonist.

The story is stale and not exciting enough, the protagonist ambition? Money of course, also he already know so many future thing in this game world so why brother to explain in detail? The detail also stale, not funny enough, not exciting enough, nothing at all. I guess the author should polish his skill more to improve the mood and the plot of the story.

For all the staleness and the boring protagonist I still rate this story 3, because it dont have many mistake, but also nothing worth mentioning. Its not bad enough to become bad story but definitely not great whatsoever. My turning point is ch 66 which show how bad the protagonist character is, if you still can read until that than maybe you will tolerate it.

At those reason I dont recommend this story for those who like protagonist with background/interesting plot/great story telling/character building.

Its an ok story though with good amount of detail about fantasy world setting. Well maybe only that worth mentioning, the other is only average. <<less

Not a the worst story but it's certainly not good. there are quite a few inconsistencies and its not well written or well thought out. the reader has to do a lot of guessing and assuming because things aren't explained clearly, or at all. It's bad enough that I feel sorry for the translators.

The author seems very confused with her math... even within the same chapter, (we're not talking complex formula, just simple numbers). first it's six months, then it's two years, first its 10, 000won then less than... more>> a paragraph later the amount changes to 20, 000won. that kind of thing. the stat page doesn't make a lot of sense and its not until we hit chapter 20+ that s/he mentions another page with different stats like knowledge and charm. also...i was unsure if he lives together with his Mom and sister or separately in his own apartment after moving out of the first place (where it was also unclear if he was living with them or not).

The MC has a lot of nifty cheats IRL but he wastes so much potential its painful. by chapter 25 I just wanted to smack him upside the head. I can't understand his motivation since the pressure of needing to make enough money is taken care of in a ridiculously short amount of time...i think. Probably... (he never mentions if he paid off their debt and his Moms medical bills but he's talking about buying a house and he rented an apartment and bought two or three cars and a ton of clothes so I'm guessing the debt is paid off).

The author made him greedy in an attempt (i assume) to give him a personality like Weed but it doesn't work. Weed has actual conversations with his family and schoolmates and he mourns every penny he has to spend (he spent half the series groaning about s*upidly buying salt that was a few won more expensive). this MC hasn't had a face to face conversation with his Mom or his sister in 25 chapters. I only know he cares about his family because the author tells us so. there isn't one scene of them having actual interaction or even of him calling his sick Mom just to check on her.

He starts showing off and spending money like its water the first chance he gets. he sleeps (is in the game) 12 hours a day and works out, spends money, goes clubbing and hooks up with chicks the rest of the time; just like all those silkpants young masters/ 2nd generation rich kids we love to hate in other novels.

Others have mentioned that this is The Gamer in novel form but honestly, The Gamer is much better than this story. in fact, The Gamer as a webnovel would be much more entertaining, though I think they'd have to change a few things for that to work out right.

This is a frustrating read and an irritating MC. maybe it gets better later on but right now I'm surprised I made it to chapter 25. <<less

The novel is just so-so

At first 'twas quite enjoyable to read but after reading it for a few chapters you would find that the whole novel itself is a whole mishmash of ideas of the author and he doesn't know on which to focus at. Making the novel quite lackluster in everything.

To be honest right now I don't know if this novels should still be could as Royal Roader on My Own or perhaps we should just turn it into Royal Golfer on My Own >.>

Well the overall feeling that... more>> you could just get here was that the whole novel is just a fulfillment type of novel, everything that would happen was just to answer the Mc's every wish, making the novel to have no depth at all <<less

It's a very average novel. Nothing is particularly excellent; nothing really sucks either. As other people said, the concept was rather interesting, but by now, the novel heavily focuses on the Royal Road side. An interesting dynamic between real life and Royal Road never appeared, as after his money problems were solved, there wasn't much to focus on in his real life anymore. The Royal Road side is still somewhat interesting.

It's a novel that's available to read when you've caught up on the better novels.

Seems interesting so far, but the author seems to struggle a bit keeping the MC between OP knowledge and clueless, its not too bad and easy to skip over but I hope the author manages to figure it out later on the chapters. The novel itself is pretty nice, the MC has a plan on how to go, I am guessing he plans to go the route he did in the game but without the mistakes he made before, the game too isn't filled with weaklings who are irrelevant, but... more>> the MC tries to make relations with the right people who are more experienced than him in certain things <<less

The first impression is that his soul is soo deep into the sewers, he can't go deeper.

but maybe, he still values something, something bigger than life; thus novel maybe has the chance of discovering the realm of the rational values and rekindle in himself the desire for greatness, with no bromides accepted.

It's highly improbable but I something tells me this could happen.

... more>> it has a good chance of turning the vice into virtue.

But really he's so crocked he probably wouldn't want to protect something that's already broken.

This novel is about his soul, at least that's what it looks like for now, and I think it's a really good opportunity.

I like the clarity of mind this MC has, he has a really crooked soul but this has the potential for drama and the absolution of moral values; the recognition that he has volition -because MC is in moral bankruptcy-.

the reason why I think this evolution is possible is because I sense in him the desire to be happy, and this makes it really worth giving it a shot.

I don't like watching pictures of rooten flesh in art galleries neither in books, but this has the chance to using that negative as a stepping stone.

MC has a very corrupted soul, but I feel this Novel has potential to the rediscover of a radiant positive sense of life that can create a real hero.

I.e: I think this black soul serves as a contrast for an epic adventure, and by the way the author presents the events in terms of rational view of life, I think it's really worth taking a deeper look for a while, specially on korean novels. <<less

A f*cking waste of time. Author does not know what he is writing about. The golf thing was just a f*cking mess and it was the most boring things ever, literally skipped over most of those chapters that feature the real world. As to why I said this was a waste of time, the author f*cked up the ending. So spoilers about end here:

Spoiler

The ending was rushed. Like after the fight with the Jeppi tribe, god goes down and urges him to defeat the Demon Lord in 1 year. If you think the author is gonna write about a training art or how he proceeds to stabilize after the war, he skipped over the details. Everyone seems to have had a level boom in that 1 year. Now author just decided to throw everything away the MC built up. His connections, coming back to his friends in the other world and shit, NO. God says his reward is "eternal rest". I thought god was going to kill him but decides to kick him out of the world. He still has the Jewels he gained but he can't come back to Royal Roader. He can't even answer Kaldera's feeling and come back like he said. Eruni and Jonnan sacrificed themselves. Truly one of the worst endings I have ever read like holy shit. Way to f*ck up the ending.

I really like this novel it's just you know their is lot's of time skip and the reason I give it this rating is because this is a first where the MC goes to the game world when he sleep.

I read some other's review and I saw some say that the MC is greedy for money. Well I just want to say that is the truth even in reality, the more money you get the more you want more because that is human nature we can't deny it.

Overall, the story... more>> is good it's just lot's of time skip and the MC skills is average, in story all he did was activate the combo, dragon fear and the item skills, the story is lacking of skill it's like the skill in the game do not amount to 20 even some skill in the item is not being used like stealth.

In real life the MC buy lot's of busy to earn more money, of course it's normal because it's money we are talking and power if you have no money you have no power to protect yourself and your family. But WTF man why did he just build a school for future chef, but to other job their is not, is chef the only money maker you can create, did he not use his brain their is lot's of profession like IT, Engineering and lots more. The MC also waste the jewel creation from s*upid skill, like swimming, golf and martial arts, well it's understandable because its necessary. But man your also a business man why the heck you did not create a business skill, prediction skill and most of all a skill for gun handling, does he think his martial arts can use ki and can catch bullet. I dont know if the author did it or its the author itself.

Lastly, the ending it was rushed like the author want to create season 2, the ending is so bad very BAD!!! He did not became a emperor or so what, I just feel bad for kaldera who is waiting for him. The author should just atlist make him marry a few woman in the game like kaldeda and the priest before closing. And as for reality he already sleep with a few woman like the beauty in their school but in the FCK*** end he still did not hook up with her and to the best woman golfer, I forgot the name, you should atlist have a few woman because it's common for the rich to have multiple woman, and overall until the ending he still do not have a GF, and the FCK*** ending is he became an actor WTF.

Author if their is still a season 2 or part 2 that the MC said in the ending plss make it better and longer do not FCK*** time skip and most of all add him a harem for me. <<less

It was a fairly decent novel, but the author clearly gave up towards the end, and gave it a botched ending that was very unsatisfactory. The financial side wasn't great, plus the fact that the author decided to have the main character get really into golf while in the real world was just a bizarre choice that didn't really pan out. But I don't regret reading it in entirety.

This novel had potential but it started to go downhill. The ending was very disappointing.

The author changed previous chapters and cut parts out but that didn't help the story. It got too into Golf and then the author also mixed up terminology as well.
