In the small country of Ciel-Terra, the Royal Prince staged a coup d’etat, killed his own brother, the former King and took control of the throne with the backing of the Four Great Kingdoms.

On her 10th birthday, René was apprehended by the knights of the Royal Prince faction for being a cursed child with silver hair and silver eyes and learnt that she was the abandoned Princess of the country. And so, branded as one who ‘was related to the depraved once-king’, she was put through hellish torture before being executed via guillotine.

As her head parted from her body, René remembered.

That, she once already lived life as a man by the name of Nagajiro Satou on Earth, and, falling victim to this world’s God flattery, was forcibly reincarnated.

And whilst in such a state, a woman who called herself an evil goddess appeared before her.

“Do you not detest him? The God who only kept half his word and reincarnated you in this form?”

“Do you not detest them? The people who pushed you to your death for their own convenience?”

“If you wish for vengeance, I shall bless you with a special Divine Protection.”

Thus René, in the name of revenge, rose as the strongest and most fearsome undead. Named Monster: Rose Princess of Hellrage. And eventually, she will end the world…

It's a skip. The description sounds interesting if done often before, but the story just doesn't live up to it.

If you have doubts read the first few chapters they are pretty poor and as you go further in it gets worse. The story becomes disjointed and more than a little nonsensical. Pile onto that the initial setup of a main character that isn't even thinking one move ahead but more like three moves behind and you have a story that offers the reader little to nothing.

She goes about getting revenge in a very weird roundabout way that doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. Her grudge is against the government that tortured and killed her for being related to a father she never met, yet she's taking it out on a criminal underworld that had absolutely nothing to do with her death.

It's explained as her needing to form a contract with a soul to consume its power, but the investment isn't anywhere near worth the minor boost.

With the powers she's exhibited she could... more>> easily end the kingdom via crop failure and famine, then take the souls of the people resentful that the government couldn't or wouldn't help them. Then once powered up from the resentful souls of an extreme famine she could easily raid the palace.

Instead she becomes the exact thing she hates when she possess the body of a kid and just kinda crushes their soul into paste for convenience. She doesn't even try to talk to what is by all means a legally and morally upstanding 11 year old who was totally innocent in the earlier story before doing something worse than mu*der.

TLDR the author suffers from the "IDK how to human" trope that is so common in LNs. <<less

Yeah, I don't get it. The story isn't disjointed at all and there are pretty clear motivations and benefits for her forming a contract and going after the organized criminal gang. One reviewer said "minor boost" for fulfilling a contract and consuming a soul RATHER than simply absorbing a soul by force, but what little was said makes it sound like a pretty decent boost even with a low level undead and its made pretty clear that there's no clear upper limit to how much she can grow that way,... more>> though there may be one.

Beyond this one reviewer says that she could just end the kingdom, but she was specifically told by the evil god that she couldn't, shes not strong enough (at this moment) to do that and that she should lay low and avoid fighting people stronger than her. Right after, though she wasn't killed, she was curb stomped. Another says she's thinking 3 steps behind rather than one ahead, but she had the foresight to use trickery to at least try to get away from someone significantly stronger than her.

She has a decent balance of hatred, guilt, fear, inner anguish, and humiliation contrasted with a well fleshed out normal human yearning for happiness, fairness and meaning. Shes ruthless and selfish, but takes the time to try to remind herself to not be obsessive or fanatical and instead remain a more multifaceted person. Including real well written guilt about stealing the 11 year old's soul so she could posses her body.

She also, not even once said she was against mu*dering every single last person (every. Single. Person.) in the kingdom after her execution in the first two or three chapters; the only thing she's said is she shouldn't let that get in the way of her own personal happiness or lead her to her own death. Rather than stilted and inhuman, shes learning her lessons and growing as a person, in a very real way; in a way that any of us readers would. This is a good story at least as of V1C30. The only real downside is that translation was dropped by the original translator and after being picked up by Isohungry Translations has become painfully slow. It's a shame that not everyone can just go read the raws. It's a little more human, its classic fantasy and has proper psychological elements instead of endless twisted rage and insanity you see in other revenge novels.

Would give it 4.5* if I could. <<less

I read futher ahead to get a better picture, and tbh it's good but poorly framed

Personally I think this would've been better if this was framed as "personal revenge" story and not "destroyer of the world" story. Because the whole prologue (until chapter 1-38) was about "I don't hate the world, I hate the unreasonableness that killed my mom." Which is also the reason why the prologue feels awkward and doesn't fit the description.

But man I do miss novel with neutral morality, like no one do evil things for the... more>> sake of being evil. It's just an innocent girl who met an unlucky end and felt it was unfair so she wants to stick it up to people how caused her demise. <<less

Once upon a time, there's a little Girl who lost everything. She lost Her heart and it make Her heart broken. She lost her happiness, and Her only source of light, Her mother. And in Her last moment, She make a promise to Herself that She Will take revenge to everyone who Made Her suffer. The people, the royalty, the kingdom, and the world including the God who make Her suffer until now.

Yeah. If its a fairy tale, that'll be the prolog. Well, aside from that, the introduction of the... more>> story' seems a little awkward at the beginning. Everything feel like kinda forced to the story' and the Storytelling feel kinda sluggish. But overall is good. The worldbuilding is not really bad and the author tell about the story' between 5 country/kingdom that exist and each one have their own plus and minus. Well, from my position, there's still not much plot that I found before step into this chapter. But overall I like the story. Its kinda mainstream but not mainstream at the same time or I can say its Minority type.

Well, give it a try.

The novel really was a surprise to me as I hadn't expected it to be as good as it was. The first 15 chapter of this novel showcased great characters with traits and personality which in resultant made the world feel not so artificial. The plot though revenge themed isn't focused solely on it since the target overclasses MC on strength which leads to character interaction, development and strength build up which is rather the gem of the novel. The novel seems to be hinting towards finding happiness through the... more>> comfort of companions and heuristic journey to become more self aware about others. <<less

It's above mid. That's what you looking for. Honestly speaking the main plot is not that interesting about this revenge stuff. MC is broken, but still sane. She know what she's doing is wrong and she got a second chance at life. Let me say this out loud: this would have been a very great series if the MC changed it's goals in the first volume and decided to live a fulfilling life. The characters are amazing, there's depth to them and they fell like living breathing humans. The way... more>> they interact, their relationship and how the MC herself learning more about them is honestly top notch in term of characters development and relationship. Not only that but god damn the illustration of the light novel is amazing you should definitely check it out. But it comes back to my main problem: the plot. She resolved herself and abandoned the hardbuilt relationship the author make for a tear jerk moment (which worked) and everything return to hard boiled violence for the sake of revenge. The fights are good, MC power are a bit confusing with this fulfilling resentment in one soul so she can devour it and become stronger which is total bull crap and just plot convenience. But I honestly gonna keep reading. I want her to be happy and drop this revenge stuff that keep escalating, I want her to cry again, I want her to be able to sleep on a comfortable bed without worry, I want to fix her. <<less

This novel prologue surely got some of its inspiration from the France Revolution. Though the coup in this novel felt a bit immature, like children throwing tantrum without knowing what they just do. I won't spoil though.

The character themselves feel less like a plot device and more like people living and dying in that world.

And then there's our MC who's a bit too gullible to the point where I can't understand how he got his job, oh wait, he did, in a black company where... (ranting)

I would say he himself almost ruined the entire story. <<less
