Why is the so called 'important and compentent' duke lets his subordinates walk all over him so easily?

Why is using a spear so weird and new? Are you telling me that the entire humanity has used sword for their whole f*cking history? Yes, they did. According to this novel, they actually did.

This is an excellent novel. Give it a try, if it's not for you move on instead of writing shitty reviews on such a great work.

basically, the MC is an idiot old man in his own younger body. Problem is, if his background that is rag to glory, he should have at least had a good life experience, but it seems not as the story progress, senseless decisions, useless plotlines in the middle, side characters that doesn't really matter, the lack of real revenge motivation, seems the author filled the story with niches and clichés, typical Knight and Princess storyline with a bit of magic, demons, kingdom politics that is so badly done. Has time travel/op regressor garbage, lack of intelligent or common sense characters, and a crap ton of chinese face slapping..... still kinda a decent story? or at least potential

I'm giving it a 4 cause I enjoyed it, but its probably closer to a 3 if not a 2

every time something happens, it feels just a tadbit subpar, like if it was just a smidgeon different things would be better... not sure if thats the translator or the author
for example, Duke Agnus the overpowered dad is constantly talked about as one of the strongest people alive, and everyone kinda acknowledges that, but they don't fear or respect him at all. Even his own subordinates and allies just think of him as the super strong lion but give don't listen to him, or respect his family or ways. While other dukes who have money and political power are treated as gods who you cant even think of negatively.... its just so weird cause then there is the backstory of the CURRENT EMPORER who values martial might over ALL ELSE AND LOVES FIGHTING AND WAR. The setting AS WRITTEN doesnt work.
also there are some weird information transfers as people learn things that happened yesterday, in locations weeks away in travel... does this world have tv, phones, magical communicators? don't know, but it has super spies who deliver info to people for a price (which is never really talked about the value of the info nor the currency/economy)
as far as I can tell, there are amazingly fun kool ideas within this worlds frame work. But none of it works or makes sense cause its incongruous. as I said earlier, its either a very unserious non detail oriented author, or the translator is just trying to keep the story going without covering dumb minuet details that they think would just bog the story down.

This is basically Chinese novel. Every non-hero character is not only s*upid but also overly emotional. And only MC is smart and cold blooded. While you don't see 'million heavenly dragon thunder crushing thousands worlds' there are still things like War Gods and Nine Stars. On another hand without exaggerated names and fights this novel feels decent. Fast moving is a big plus for me so I would give it 4

A decent novel, but has a lot of cliches. Also has my least favorite type of regression protagonist. The type where the MC was already the strongest, but tries to become even more powerful and gets cheats.

Also a side note. People do use spears, but it's just commoner soldiers. Proper knights and nobels use swords for reasons explained very early on, but the ignorant masses simply think spears are tr*sh.

Finally decided to read this after following the manhwa for a few months.

Overall, the novel is worse than the manhwa for some reasons.

First of all the novel is very chaotic in a bad way. In a chapter it can change scenes between different locations/factions, like suddenly going from Reinhardt to Pontieer War to Empire to Mages Tower in a single chapter. It's very jarring and makes things more confusing than it needs to be. The reader basically only gets surface level details of each scene before it changes to another... more>> scene.

This surface level details makes the story very barebones. If the author instead of having 2-3 scenes per chapter, instead dedicated 1 chapter per scene and put more effort in giving details/context of what's happening, then this story would have been good. The only times where the author seems to put effort into writing details is whenever the MC goes out fighting and even then it feels a bit lacking.

Overall the novel feels like an rough draft. It's probably why the manhwa is a much better read. The manhwa goes at an slower pace than the novel, and thus even though it's images vs writing sentences, it feels more detailed. <<less
