Are you a fan of Magical Girl genre? You know the despair and angst of Puella Magica Madoka? The type that enjoys story about prevention of the apocalypse? Then, you are in luck! This story, Reincarnated as the Narrowed-Eyed Character in a Magical Girl Battle Story, is exactly those!

Our Protagonist ends up in a world of a depressing Magical Girl Light Novel. The kind that appeared after Puella Magica's popularity. And how the story ends? Apocalypse! The end of the world! Death of many! And only the Protagonist knows this... more>> and in the position to take advantage to survive till the end.

.... because if she last long enough until the very end, she can return to her original world. And she has a very good reason to do so.

And that becomes a central point of the Protagonist's character growth at the beginning. I won't explain much. Read the story so you can experience and draw your own conclusions. That's always my personal opinion when recommending stories. All I will say the first "Woah" point for me is ch 15. The second and one of my favorite part of the story is ch 29. Read until those chapters before coming to an conclusion if you want to keep reading or not.

If you've read "I've became the Academy's Pink-haired Airhead", it has the same shounen vibes because this is the Author's previous work before Pink-haired. And just like Pink-haired Airhead, the yuri parts aren't really present yet. It's likely those will develop later on down the line. I'll also point out that while both stories revolve around "prevent the bad ending of the original story/timeline", how the protagonists of the story tackle them is different. Anyways! This is a fun read and itches my need for a good magical girl story since reading Magical Tyrant Sylph to the end. It's also added to my list of good Magical Girl stories and waiting for more chapters (Mr. Magical Girl, I Became a Magical Girl In a Harem Manga, Hakagure Sakura Does Not Lament). <<less

Not sure if it's the translation or the writing, but it's difficult to read. I had to reread some paragraphs to understand what was being said. Not much to say about the story or characters except that the story's kinda flat. Sure things are happening. She's saving magical girls and changing the story but imo there's no highs or lows. There's no sense of danger or excitement because everything's so monotone.

Also despite being a 'narrow-eyed' character, it's really mentioned. Instead, her big b**bs are getting more attention which makes me... more>> questioned why 'narrow-eyed' is in the title instead of 'big b**bs.' <<less

This one's definitely a gem and IMO it deserves a lot higher than its current rating.

The MC is put into the past of a light novel he once read as a transformed magical girl, and works to survive the impending apocalyptic crisis he knows will begin starting from when a total of ten thousand girls worldwide receive powers from a mysterious voice heard from the sky, encouraged to evolve and grow stronger by absorbing the starlight (power) of others.

In the original world's timeline without proper knowledge and competent leadership, world... more>> governments rapidly sought to bring them under control to use their magic abilities while conducting secret human experimentation on them underground for weaponization research, leading to rebel factions forming from escaped magical girls seeking revenge against the government.

Mass terrorism and infighting followed afterwards, and society soon collapsed with the eventual appearance of the immensely powerful [War] magical girl destroying all infrastructure, turning Japan into a lawless zone where survivors fought over food and where magical girls killed each other to grow stronger for survival. Long story short, other countries also collapsed due to similar chaos and the formation of plunderer groups unstoppable by modern artillery. By the time masses of demons only killable by starlight begin appearing, the world had become a hopeless place where the last surviving magical girls and humans perished, leaving behind a world where there was nothing left worth protecting.

Our MC, knowing the future that awaits, trained desperately to grow strong enough to face the magical girl of [War] who would appear in the future in order to survive to the end of the novel.

As the original work's story events begin to unfold,

the MC finds the resolve to protect the world and steps up to prepare everyone for the apocalypse while also solving several crises that were apparent in the original timeline. She works to establish an international order of magical girls independent from the political control of countries by using her abilities as the strongest, creating a spatial domain that only magical girls can enter, spreading its influence across countries she travels to. The author goes over a fair amount of dynamics and interactions with how the MC interacts with and is perceived by other country governments as well over the course of the series.

Overall it's a really great story about an MC who guides and leads others in preparation for the apocalypse.

A competent magical girl story that explores the genre in a fun and new way. The author who is clearly a fan of the genre calls out to some of the subpar works that came in the wake of Madoka in the prologue and indeed the setting is based on a reincarnator trying to salvage one such suffering-p*rn magical girl story. The ensemble cast is handled well, the action is well paced and written, the world is competently rendered. The author well lives up to the scale of trying to... more>> write a more realistic story about Magical girls put into a modern world, considering things that adults and governments would do to superhumans trying to fight monsters.

In other works an MC like this would probably feel overbearing but the author carefully balances the danger of the setting with the MC using ridiculous powers to save it. It borrows a lot of aspects from Magical Girl Raising Project but is more of a subversion of that kind of world. Would recommend to any magical girl fan. <<less
