This is a tragedy.

The story tells us about two people: The consort and the general. What this is about isn't their love story, sure, they love each other till the end, but it's about the path that each of them took.

One gave up everything for revenge, or maybe just to keep on living, and as the summary says died. Consort Rong was vicious, she herself knew that. I pity her, but can't help to think that she deserved what she got in the end. For her, life was too miserable... more>> and yet she had to keep living, or rather, surviving.

The other chose to accompany her. I don't think he was useless. He respected her choice and did his part by being there, by listening to her. He was as miserable as she was, seeing her breaking down and picking up the pieces.

In the end, she set him free, against ehat she once vowed she would never do. But them again, the princess and the consort were different from each other. And maybe, at that point, she agreed with that maid.

In the end, the soldiers wondered what did he see, I don't think he saw her. I think he saw the ghost of the girl he was in love with. Back when both of them were still innocent.

For them, death was a release. Life was cruel, their fate was cruel, and they themselves were cruel. <<less

So much tragedy. A girl who lost everything and swore vagance to it. She uses any method to win. Even when it crush her heart and soul. I feel her sadness. I feel her loneliness. I feel her fury. And I feel her when she let go the only thing precious to her.

What a magnifent novel. Just 4 chapter and you can feel it. I cried for this.

A tragic story, but can't say I feel sorry for the two main characters. The FL became too evil and the ML was just useless from beginning to end. He wasn't really necessary in the story.

A tragic short story about two people in the ancient times. This is mutual angst where both people pined for each other but are fated to be apart. Though I like shedding tears for tragic stories, this one couldn't grip my emotions as much. However, the ending was pretty unique.
