At 3 years of age, her father went missing. At 15, the muscle in her hand snapped. At 16, her mother passed away in a car accident. At 19, she was framed by her uncle. At 22, she was burned alive by her newly- wedded husband and her best friend. Perhaps it was God’s sympathy that allowed her to return to the time when she was 15 years old to re-live once more. The previous lifetime of being low- key and having forbearance resulted in betrayal and misery. In this lifetime, she must be lofty and domineering to let those who have bullied her suffer a terrible end!

Pretty fun read. The plot is woven very well and the full backstory is interesting.

Spoiler

The guy who cuts her tongue isn't as evil as I thought. He was lied to by his uncle all his life, leading him to erroneously plot revenge against the MC and her family. He's actually quite a pitiful character. The so-called best friend, on the other hand, totally deserves to burn in hell. She's selfish and manipulative through and through. Quite an evil character.

[collapse]

The ML is super devoted and cute in his actions.

Spoiler

However I found him overly pushy in the beginning constantly pressing his affections (and lips) on the MC that it made me want to slap him at times.

[collapse]

The MC after rebirth fixed her overly trusting and obviously naively s*upid personality. She was quite likeable as an MC. I like how she started reading psychology books so that she could learn how to deal with the ppl around her. Unlike transmitigation stories, the MC isn't OP after rebirth. She goes back to when she was 15 and has to work very hard to fix the mistakes of her past such as not studying in school. <<less

An okay read. Switch your brain off while reading, every character has a habit of making even the simplest things exhaustingly complicated, so make sure not to pay too much attention when you read or it'll make you want to pull your hair out. This ESPECIALLY applies to the Fl, ML, FL's cousin and tutor pair - who are coincidentally all the characters who have any screetime in this, so.. *Shrugs*

I first picked this novel up because I was bored and couldn't really find anything that sparked my interest. I'm so glad I did as this rebirth story is refreshing in how it doesn't have the FL extract revenge on everyone who has wronged her. She just fixed her naive personality and distanced herself from people who didn't treat her genuinely while getting closer to the people who actually care about her - very realistic for this type of rebirth novel. The plot in this novel is very well paced... more>> without being dragged out. I'm just excited to see what happens next! <<less

Oh my Lord, never had I thought I would be driven to drop a novel because of a SIDE PLOT. OMFG.

Why does this Qin woman exist? Everything is so unnecessary. It's distracting and lowers the IQ of the novel. Like if you wanted filler, you just write the MC going to the groceries and ID BE SO MUCH HAPPIER. Just replace every single time this side plot appears with a grocery scene. Just imagine it you guys. Close your eyes. Yes, yes. You see? now it's amazing right?

Just facepalm* dnf.... more>> So annoying. I can't even focus on the plot.... anyways its really a shame considering the good translation. <<less

This is a great story... It's refreshing to see how unlike the other rebirth novels where the MC uses her past lives knowledge to excel in all categories, this MC is actually working towards her goal normally. She does have her gift, her unique tongue that's is able to decipher the amounts of ingredients put in the food and how it's made as well as how improvements could be made, although it's an advantage seeing her families company is related to food, she still has flaws that makes her more relatable you know? Just like her tongue, although it's useful, her setback is that she wants eat meat, if she does she gets flashes of the way the meat was caught, hunted down, killed or even the way it was cut... so she had to be a vegetarian..

[collapse]

Overall, it's a great novel... Although the updates are not consistent enough for me, I would still recommend since the chapters piques my interest all the time. Give it a chance, it's really good.

This is so annoying and tiring to read. There's so much unnecessary drama going on in the story, and some of it is fueled by the MC's s*upidity.

Spoiler

The MC knows that Chu Yao wants her dead, but she refuses to bring a bodyguard with her on her excursion. Then, she's told by Chu Yao's friend to come to a meeting spot, and she s*upidLY follows along, thus proceeding to get kidnapped.

[collapse]

The author has the MC have this quirk where she visualizes animals dying every time she eats meat; this detail is so unnecessary. It doesn't add to anything in the book. The author does this, too, with the side characters. The whole backstory and explanations on MC's tutor does not add to anything in the book.

All of these cliches and dramas that happen after every chapter just gets so tiring to read. There's no satisfaction in reading it. <<less

I've read the story, but I think I will be dropping it in chapter 21, I dunno, might read some more when I feel like it.

The premise is the usual, she gets betrayed boom, back to the past.

What I liked about this story was how the author seemed right-minded. You know, most past transmigration female authors are self-righteous and make all the characters either on the white-black side of the MC. That is why I liked how the MC's mother acted like an actual human being, sometimes being wavered by... more>> the antagonists, sometimes being overprotective to the MC.

What made me drop off was how the MC seemed to make everything overcomplicated. She constantly attacks the one who made her past life hard. I dunno, maybe it's your slice of cake but not to me. Does, other people making you miserable give you the right to attack them to the extent of making them into a miserable state? I sensed that the plot would be an endless loophole on attacking the antagonists, so I gave up. <<less

First novel over 100 chapters that I bothered to MTL all the way to the end!
It took me like 3 days to read the whole thing 455 Chapters but It was SO WORTH IT!!

The plot is a 10/10

So much happens! love how natural everyone's actions are and not forced!
There are times when the novel is cute/fluffy, or action/serious, or suspenseful/mysterious

... more>> Character development might be a little slow but 10/10

I love how all the characters connect, all characters are created with a reason/purpose.
I like the range in characters: you can love, hate, find annoying, or just absolutely adore a character.
The author provides either a background for the side characters or allow the readers to see how they think.

There were many times when I was like "As expected of XXX character" or "I totally should of seen that coming, why didn't I?" or "How did the author know I was interested about that?"

Of course I understand there are some things that could be a bit too weird and a turn off like MC's sense of taste... but It wasn't all random. If you can get over some strange things, you will understand why the author wrote them in the novel. Everything is there for a reason.

@Mirrordragon Come to the spoiler page and request what you want to know...I'll be glad to help <<less

Ok so I've dropped this novel for the 3rd time now. While the premise of the story is really interesting, this one is really written very dumbly. The characters are s*upid and the plot is just bad. I can see where author was trying to lead this plot, but the execution is really bad. I can almost picture a 12 year old writing his/her first story on wattpad. This is how poorly written the plot is. The lines/paragraphs do not transition well either. The dialogue is sometimes cringe-inducing. I was... more>> willing to ignore those things, but the plot really prevents me from enjoying this. I tried reading as far as I can, but this ain't it.

The story would have been 4 stars if the author decided to get a professional editor. He/she badly needs it. <<less

The plot is interesting, sadly the novel is pretty bad.

This review may contains some little spoilers.

First of all, the MC is really s*upid. After she was betrayed and killed in her last life, she doesn't do anything to protect herself. The only thing she does is hire a new gardener because the last time she was kidnapped thanks to the gardener....

Spoiler

For example one time she goes to an excursion with the school, she refuses the bodyguards and follow the antagonist's friend, letting her and her friend being almost killed, thankfully her family is just a little smarter than her.

[collapse]

The interaction between the FL and the ML is simply non-existent during this 69 chapters...

Spoiler

Also the reason of the ML to love the FL is so cliché, love at first sight when they were little... It's a little boring. Obviously the FL doesn't remember him, that's normal.

[collapse]

She wanted to become stronger during this second chance but the only thing she does is working for the new branch of the family's store, which only brings new enemies and she doesn't have anything more.

Also the most annoying thing: QIN + ANWEY. Every damned thing that happens in the novel, they must be mentioned. It's a s*upid and useless drama between two unimportant characters. It's so annoying their misunderstendings and everything in general. There's more about them than the FL...

You can read it if you're bored, but it's pretty frustrating. <<less

This looks great so far. MC is caring for her family while prudent towards her enemies. She doesn't drastically go guns blazing and face punching those who harmed her. She uses her brain to come out of predicament, and, when the opportunity arises, an amazing face slap is born.

Her family is really nice too, and she utilizes them perfectly. Good read so far.

I admittedly couldn't make it past ch 50 something so if I'm disproved later on please feel free to correct me

The premise for this novel was quite interesting, but it's dragged down by overindulgence in clichés, dragging uninteresting side plots out with little prior development and yet it keeps going and going and going, and how the protagonist seems to be unable to use efficient solutions for her problems; half the stuff the antagonists do could probably be solved by a police report tbh. The antagonist Chu Yao is delusional,... more>> but considering the one-dimensional nature of most CN antagonists I can give it a pass - she's just exceptionally irritating to read (that a story invoked irritation from me is a good thing I guess). <<less

Hey there, enjoying this novel immensely. It's so much fun not having to face another "oh I am so great! Let's kill everyone for fun!" kind of bs novel again. This novel is very fun to read and pretty light not to mention, it feels pretty realistic for a rebirth type novel - someone having to study/learn new things and develop from there. She wins some, she makes some mistakes but it's all fun and games - so it's easy to read.

BTW, I really want to ask anyone who has... more>> read this novel (MTL'ed, etc) does the cousin end up with the teacher? I really want to know what happens with their ridiculous misunderstanding! <<less

Like @Shortk said in one of the reviews here, the side plot is what really killed my interest. It's fine for side characters to have romantic development, but when it takes over the main story... it just feels like a waste of time. The side plot was so predictable and it didn't help much with progressing the main story either. Good luck reading.

Spoiler

The side plot starts at around ch. 50. You've been warned!

This novel is the kind of novel where you need to turn off your brain to enjoy it. I skimmed most chapters and only read the parts that interested me so that I would not suddenly develop an ulcer from the stress that all the plot holes and braindead characters gave me.

I didn't particularly like the FL. While she is supposedly smart and level-headed I don't really see it. Why ask for help or talk to others when she can do everything herself despite being weak and absolutely useless, right?... more>> She is pretty much the perfect depiction of a Mary Sue, always does her own thing and succeeds in everything because the universe is bending backwards to make it that way regardless of how unrealistic it is.

Not to forget that the FL got managerial rights over a restaurant at 15 while her female cousin had already been working for their company at 17... Call me a nit-picker for all I care, but that seriously bothered me.

There were way too many braindead 2D characters out of which the antagonists can be summed up as selfish, entitled and batsh*t crazy. And while Lin Haocheng, the FL's former fiancé and half-brother did see a rare case of a turnaround at the end, it still didn't manage to redeem him.

I feel like the only characters that I liked were Du Xiuwu and Lu Anhu... probably because they were the only ones who behaved maturely. Everyone else seemed to be entangled in some teen angst high school drama with deep-running grudges to the extent of wanting to kill each other and actively trying to do so.

The author really likes to play the trope of misunderstandings because of failure of communication which is just unnecessary. I mean, the whole drama around Qin big sister (excuse me, but I forgot her name) and Lu Anwei was plain unnecessary. A lot of people seemed to be of the same opinion according to the chapter comments.

Me giving 3/5 stars is mainly because I feel guilty for skipping and skimming so many chapters. I thought about quitting several times, but persevered because I wanted to know how they got rid of the end boss behind the scenes. Can't say that it was worth it. So take that as you will. <<less

After read this, I know the reason why it takes a bit long (700s ch). It have alot of filler chapters and the author love to drag the plot.

The story itself is okay tho it hv alot of flaws in the plot. Be it about the MC (know the future progress but still repeatedly do the same mistakes) or the side character like the s*upid couple (her cousin n her private teacher love story is a mess n might give u a nausea).

Overall its a 3* from me for the... more>> plot and characters. could be better if only the author plan her novel less fillers and draggy. Alas... <<less

It's good if you are reading in bulk. I say this because the family relationships, subplots, and characters are most of the fluff. When I'm coming back to this after some time I'm like: "what story am I reading?" if it's an arc focusing on otherwise insignificant characters. The story has some issues, but the plot itself it's pretty straightforward overall. I try to keep it vague, but don't read bullet points if you are the type to avoid all spoilers including novel tags.
    • Evil 'Sister', but they stay friendly on the surface. MC allows sister to plot according to previous timeline and doesn't deviate in their relationship (yet) other than pulling some distance, cutting off funds, and being more independent. She cuts off the friendship in truth, but maintains a bare minimum to keep the relationship friendly on the surface. Pretty good balance if you like to see a vicious character hop around like a clown that doesn't know it's a puppet.
    • Disloyal and greedy husband who ruins MCs life, takes what he can, and then burns her alive. He's off in some subplot I don't remember.
    • Side characters with their own dedicated subplots and desires although the way these are presented to the MC / the reader sometimes feel forced and somewhat confusing. It's a convenient way to put a character out of the picture for a long time until their plots resolve and they return. Despite this, it's nice to see some character development even if they feel like they lose their character setting sometimes (Strong female teacher -> suddenly gets a 'coward who flees at first misunderstanding' trait)
    • MC herself is cunning and has an overall nice personality. She makes a plan and sticks to it. She denies her growing feelings for ML, but not to the point of total ignorance. She has a dream and clear reasoning. Sometimes she's a little Mary Sue, but the plot convenience isn't outrageous. It's most clear in her cooking. The author must not have a professional understanding of it, but again should he have to? We know her food is good and light in seasoning, good enough.

Hmmm... The novel is obviously better. But I also happened to come across the manhua on Webcomics. So far, from what they have at least, it's been a good read. I can't wait till the translations on this is done so I can get the full story in better details than the manhua!

Dropped at Chapter 60 something.

The premise was good but got a little draggy and s*upid later.

Like most of the reviews, the side plot of Qin Shuhan and Lu Anwei was unnecessary.

Spoiler

I was disappointed because at first Qin Shuhan was portrayed as a spontaneous, strong and independent woman but later turned into a lovestruck fool. She is a professional teacher, so she cothave handled that relationship with an iron will. But no, author had put in some misunderstandings. Qin Shuhan was the one who forced that one night atand yet had the gall to reject the guy the next morning.

Also, MC could have helped be the bridge between them and help clear out the misunderstandings. But all she did was give the guy a make over. When her cousin was rejected again she didn't call to ask her teacher why. She could have asked why was her cousin rejected or tell her teacher that her cousin was sincere and dejected. Irritatingly, MC did not and just the misunderstandings between the two continue.

It kinda left a bad taste, which is the main reason I dropped this.

[collapse]

Lu Anran, the MC, is also s*upid. She knows people are out to get her killed but she doesn't do anything to protect herself. Not even anti-wolf tools like pepper spray, a SOS tracking, or a utility knife hidden in her clothes. She's not street smart or clever. There were many things she could have done to avoid any mishaps.

Spoiler

Also what is up with her grandfather? He gave a management right to a 15 year old who is about to start highschool but ignore the 17 year old granddaughter with a diploma. There are also older cousins who are more capable than her.

[collapse]

All in all, you'll end up dropping this. I might pick it up later but nah. <<less
