After dying alone in a mental institution, Fang Junrong discovered that she was the evil mother-in-law in a prominent family doting novel. Her daughter-in-law was the female lead who was loved by all.

In the novel, the female lead was kind and nice, and the male lead loved her so much that he’d die for her in a heartbeat.

Her future father-in-law doted on her and treated her better than his own daughter.

Fang Junrong, the evil mother-in-law, was the only one who didn’t care for her. She had gotten the evil character’s script and wanted to set the female lead up every chance that she got and finally landed herself in the mental institution.

After she was rebirthed and facing her son who wanted her blessings, Fang Junrong tore up the script. Whoever wanted the role of the evil mother-in-law could have it! She was going to get a divorce and take half of the money, then she’d figure out where she wanted to go from there alongside her daughter!

100% Lighthearted Revenge story...

Ironic isn't it?

The novel is similar to a mother of a villain novel that I don't remember, on which she just bulldoze her way on the problems and the cannon fodders no sweat.

Only qualms is the last part with the spirit one giving last ditch effort to prolong the story. It's pure just extending the inevitable. Otherwise the revenge is quite simple and not as convulated as other revenge driven story...

If you want a story that shows revenge without the need for too much backstory and slow drama, this is for you. You know what happened in the past, and the author doesn't drag on the present and gets straight to revenge. If you're into straightforward stories, this is for you. This is full of face slapping those who have done the MC wrong in the original storyline. Either way, they still deserved it in this lifetime. This novel is one of the few I am eagerly awaiting each chapter to be released. I cannot MTL it because the translation makes it work! I wish the translations were longer instead of 1 chapter being cut into 3-4 chapters. Update: Sadly, while I enjoyed this novel at the beginning, after the downfall of her ex-husband, son, and former FL, the story has become boring. <<less

I recommend this just because of the entertainment factor and the Female lead's carefully crafted plan to bit*h slap the villains. I like the female lead because of her calm and clever nature. Although, she does take her daughter's side a lot. The daughter is a little spoilt but that is it, she is completely innocent. The biggest villains are definitely the father, the son and the white lotus MC.

There is also an issue of glorifying fair skin in some parts. (Sigh).

Ugh! I’ve only read till chapter 17 but I already want to beat up some pigheads! The father and the son are so despicable and the original female lead is a d*mn white lotus.

Luckily, the story is not slow paced and we already have some fun face-slapping scenes. I have a feeling we’ll have some satisfying revenge, so I’m looking forward to see how this goes.

I've really been enjoying this so far but it's hard to tell how far we are in the story since the translator has split up chapters and not reflected that in the update titles. There's supposed to be 136 chapters and 11 extras, going by this page, and yet we're on chapter 228? Its very confusing.

This novel deserve more credit. There was room for improvement, and some minor plot holes, but overall this was truly an amazing story, I never felt bored or frustrated reading it, everything is well thought and the pace was smooth.

MC 5/5 she all rounded cool, and most importantly unforgiving, she didn't hesitate to put her unfilial disgusting son in her blacklist, and that was so soothing.

Story 4.5/5 revenge plot well thought, moving from target to target and back was smooth and satisfying.

Characters 4/5 they might sometimes seem s*upid, but it... more>> wasn't as annoying as other most novels, most of them are unique and act reasonably. <<less

If you just had a nasty breakup with a shitty ex then this book is for you. You'll get your fill of face-slapping and sweet revenge. All the characters get what they deserve (and then some).

There is a very clear delineation between who is in the right and who is in the wrong. The villains will make you want to vomit with how illogical, and selfish they are. The bad guys all definitely have a couple of screws loose. Everything that is their own fault is blamed on the MC.... more>> They BLINDLY follow and fall all over the "white lotus" Jiang Yage after a pout or a tear. Can't stand it.

While the revenge against the bad guys was pretty sweet at times; the novel was overall a pretty flat read. The author doesn't throw any curveballs or even leave you hanging for very long. Most issues are resolved within a few chapters (I read straight through the Chinese chapters, but if you're reading the translation, they may seem more spaced out). <<less

First words after I cl**ked next on chapter 136 of the raws, "Oh Hell No". I really hope that 136 is not the actual end of the series, it leaves a couple of loose ends as well as a craving for more.

Overall I find the story delightful, the MC is not spiteful, though she does hold a grudge like no one's business. The face-slapping is done in mostly tasteful manners that the other characters usually bring on themselves (though a few of them are a bit, eh). The general pacing,... more>> mood, and execution are done fairly well. I enjoyed the comedy greatly, chuckling aloud every few chapters.

This is a feel-good reincarnated revenge story with a clean AF MC. <<less

It's another one of those "turn on the white lotus protagonist" stories. I'm still not sure whether orig!FL from the novel is a "good" (albeit self-righteous) character or a bad one though.

I also wished that the son wasn't scum, but alas too bad. I wanted to see more family moments between a mother who wants to protect her children but this is a face-slapping story instead. Which isn't bad either.

First 50 chapters is pretty fun but then like the author don't know what to write next it's goes out of topic.

If you want a revenge novel, well it has a revenge till chapter 35.

If you want a romance, I don't recommend it. Because it has very little sweet in this story.

I can't do this anymore. Solid 3/5, would've been 4.5/5 if the author wrapped up the story already.

The MC became uninteresting and too OP. I'm legit more invested in her son because I find a flawed character undergoing some much needed character growth more compelling than a perfect character living a perfect life.

By chapter 97 the MC has already accomplished everything she could've possibly accomplished.

She's MEGA rich and powerful, has her OP bracelet with magical properties, owner of the worlds best selling and most useful magical pills, divorced, ex husband dead, daughter is happy and safe, biggest enemies are squashed, looks beautiful and young, has powerful friends... As far as I'm concerned the rest of the story is fodder.

MC is a pretty solid 8.5/10 when it comes to MCs. She's smart, independent, professional, empathetic, and driven. By Chinese revenge novels standards, she's by far the most merciful MC I've ever seen without being a weak doormat. Her revenge is satisfying without being overdone or inhumanely cruel. Except for her ex husband, she doesn't purposely go out and try taking revenge on every person who wronged her or her daughter in her past life. If they decide to bother her then it's fair game, otherwise she ignores and refuses to work with them.

It's fine if you want to turn your brain off for a while, I guess.
Mostly just cliches and face-slapping with everyone being too s*upid to live, but somewhat satisfying if that's what you're into.
Honestly though, it felt like the story was pretty much done at chapter 80, and yet there are hundreds more chapters.
Not nearly compelling enough to keep going so I stopped.

This novel was tiring to read. It had a strong, independent no-nonsense MC and a somewhat cliche set up.

Sounds ok right? It was at first, I rather enjoyed the first hundred or so chapters but gradually the MC became too strong, ttoo alone in her grandiosity.

And the story became way too cliche. I would recommend staying away, initial fondness for the story will gradually became a pulling force dragging you into the unending hole of braindead.

In essence, it wasn't completely bad but it was quite bad.

I really enjoyed this from a feminist point of view... Like the villaness had so much power over... well everybody even w/o the "magic", the FL was firce, succesfull and decicive even making hard decitions.

This story was what I had once dreamed of, powerfull women fighting agains the bad guys by them selfs and for them selfs (not for a man, but for real, not just "not for a man~") and wining effortlessly, BUT sadly what we whant is not what we neeeeddd!!!. Throughout the story I was... more>> just begging for the ML to apear!!! It was a flag raised from the very begging with so many prospects I was just guessing who would it be, and just when I thought I knew, it changed again and again...

Anywayyy I think it was conterproducive cuz all along while reading, the ML was all that was on my mind and the story statred to get just boring to the point all I cared about was the ML and the get together part, obviosly when I got to it it was... Well disapointing kind of~, also the FL is a stepmother in her 40ish (a sexy empowered cougar ok??!!) Author WHY make her a 40 y/o in the body of a 20y/o what was the point of all the feminism in this if You are defited by age??

I read the translation from Fringe Capybara. I surprisingly liked it because it was what I wanted at the time! Lots of satisfying face slapping without the plot being too s*upid to believe. I also liked that the focus was on being successful and family not romance. The characters were all nicely different and the likeable ones were likeable enough to continue reading. All the plots were interesting to read about. The translation was the best, errors only once in a blue moon and it was very smooth. The... more>> stuff I didn't like as much was the stepdaughter of the MC, just all around expected by everyone, including the MC, real daughter and the stepdaughter herself, all expecting to be valued a bit less than the real daughter. But this is just a faceslapping story for me so I wasn't expecting much haha

the translators worked hard on this! What a long novel!

things I liked: the fact that MC isn't a young girl but a milf, the strong bond between MC and her daughter, the way that the ML is extremely devoted to MC. He's strong and competent, but I like that his strength never overshadows her own, nor does she rely on him to get anywhere.

i especially enjoyed the moments where MC taught her daughters to be savvy businesswomen, it felt like watching a cat deliver half dead mice to her kittens to teach them to hunt. Maybe only I find it sweet? -V-;

things I didn't enjoy as much: after a while, the face slapping plots get repetitive. Towards the end of the story, it kind of drags a bit, and none of the enemies really make much of an impact on the storyline or in my mind. The ML and MC barely have any romance, they only truly start dating at the end and it takes until about halfway through the novel for him to actually appear. Also, what's the point of making MC a milf if she ends up looking younger than her daughter through her beauty pills? Deeply disappointing for all milf hunters.

the antagonists are almost supernaturally s*upid and greedy, to the point where they fall for the same tricks over and over. MC and one of her allies pretend to have a falling out in order to trick an enemy family, and then later on that same enemy family falls for the "falling out with mc" tactic a second time. You'd think they'd learn!!!

Its a good story tbh. Or atleast somewhat enjoyable. I like the concept of the mother being the one reincarnated after all the injustice and not the child. It just brings me so much joy knowing she gets a second chance with her daughter.

To enjoy this story you've gotta overlook the fact that pretty much everyone who isn't on good terms with the MC is made to be... brainless. By this I mean, it's the typical story where in the past life everyone was so smart but now that she's... more>> reincarnated they've downgraded way down. It doesn't make sense at times but I like our MC enough to overlook that the story's flaws. She has her own halo

Goes on too long. I MTL from about chapter 80 and there were some interesting dramas but mostly just sane old repeatative drama.

Kind of wish there was just a bit more in the romance department, more on the adopted daughter and a little more redemption for the son. As a mom I just couldn't completely get behind the total hatred of the son, not saying to bring him back and make him her heir but still felt wrong to me.

All in all not the worst novel just got boring.

I would say that this novel is a solid 3.5 stars as of my place in it. I gave it five stars here because 14 people have given it 1 star which is wrong. This is in no way a 1-star novel. By now you should know just from reading the reviews it is a face-slapping story. As is normal for face-slapping stories the bad guys are incredibly s*upid. So if you don't like stories where the bad guys make frankly, s*upid decisions and choices then this story won't be... more>> for you. <<less
