I read the MTL and was a bit confused. In the first life she lost her family, married Ashlin Shen (a general and Duke's heir). She killed herself on the steps of the bridegrooms house as he is returning with his new young bride because he had divorced her (FL) after 7 years of marriage. First life ends with heartbreaking betrayal.

Second life I never figured out the male lead, it seemed the ML was the king/emperor. He had loved her but was too late to capture her heart. The FL... more>> leaves him after choosing to avoid a life of palace drama to instead live with her mother and brother, and she never marries. After his death the ML travels back to the first time he met the FL. So second life ends bittersweet.

So it seems, with the kings rebirth, the story is now about the FL's third life. The reborn king wakes up to meet the FL outside of the school, in a scene reminiscent to the events of the second life. The FL has arrived with a lunch for her brother and some male students are trying to swindle her out of the lunch basket. I was confused because the male in the second life that FL meets outside the school (and asks to pass on the message to the brother) is Cai Wen. But I'm confused because the person the FL marries in the third life is Xin Chaoyang. I thought Xin Chaoyang was a pharmacist in the second life. So maybe the king in the second life is reborn in the third life as Xin Chaoyang? Third life ends with happy ending.

This story was mainly about the FL getting a chance to do over everything in her life to allow her to keep her mom and brother alive. The romance was negligible. The FL's character is well developed and some secondary characters get a lot more story time for their character's development. Sadly the character of the male lead is not well developed. More story time is spent developing and describing the FL's relationships with competing pharmacists and female antagonists. This was not a satisfying story to read in MTL. Maybe a lot of the storyline was lost in translation. <<less
