The story seems interesting so far. The MC is calm and wise because he was reborn again in someone else's body, which I like. I'm a fan of stories set in the intertainment industry, so I'm excited to see where this one will go!

The mtl is pretty good, some mistakes here and there, but it's very easy to read and none of the mistakes are too jarring. If you're a fan of BL, I would recommend you give this a read.

I really wish I liked it more. I thought it sounded like something I'd really enjoy with rebirth, OP protagonist, face slapping, career levelling up, etc. Unfortunately the plot and characters fell a little flat for me. Everything felt very low stakes and every opponent of the MC felt brainless, predictable, and easily defeated. Many parts of this novel became repetitive.

There is very little world building done with the alternate version of Earth, except that Huaxia (China) in this world is acknowledged as being superior and has a larger role... more>> in the global fashion/entertainment scene. Not much is done with this, except the author does get into some nationalistic propaganda in a slightly weird way.

The main couple have some cute banter and there are fun moments with them. I think this book could be a good read if you're looking for something light and relatively long. <<less

After reading the reviews I was torn on whether or not to read this but I still decided to give it a try. I kept an open mind about things that were mentioned, especially with the comments about xenophobia, I mean this is a Chinese novel so of course there will be bias towards China. I just didn’t expect that it would be so racist. This is truly my first encounter where it was so in your face. At around chapter 160 it was the main focal point for like... more>> 3 chapters straight. Despite that I read past it and finished the entire story. That said, based on the story itself I couldn’t give it more than 2 stars. A 230+ chapter novel is very long and unfortunately things became very repetitive. Once the main conflict was resolved there was nothing interesting left but there were still maybe 80 more chapters. The MC in the story is very OP and being OP is not a problem in itself it just wasn’t convincing. He was OP because we were told he was but the things that were actually supposed to make him seem OP were missing. All through the story we’re told that Ming Yu is the most beautiful, best body, best temperament and the best over all models but besides that his accomplishments were normal and there was really nothing special about him. After a reading so many chapters the words used to describe the MC become sooo repetitive it feels like your brain starts to go numb. The writer even uses things like “his face looked 3 dimensional” as a compliment out of lack of other words to describe him with. The relationship and development between the MC and ML is not bad at all. I actually like their chemistry. The extras showed an extra sweet side of them that I was definitely grateful for. All in all this wasn’t the worst I have ever read but it was far from the best as some have rated it it. <<less

I read this before but stopped after a couple of chapters in coz I had a hard time understanding the translation.

Thank God Rainbow was kind enough to re-edit her work and I have enjoyed every chapter of RS.

MY and ZY are one of the best couples I've ever read. Their personalities match the other and it was just a fun time reading their story. ❤️ Whereas SCC and LC are quite and adorable couple. The angst added quite a flavor to the combination of these two. ❤️ Kudos to Rainbow's hard work!!

This leaves me conflicted. It definitely isn't bad. But there are a few things that keep it from being great for me.

1--the extreme nationalism is a little offputting especially knowing the current China's political situation. But its not my country so that's really just my personal feelings. It just gets really repetitive.

2--It drags on a bit.

... more>> 3--The main character could really use some pitfalls in his way. Or it could be shorter. I feel like either of those would have helped.

4--I feel like..... It puts down other countries a lot? But this is proooobably how everyone else feels when they read things written in America so. Turnabout is fair play.

Now I was very impressed with the storys attitude towards racism and sexism and h*mophobia. There is also a trans model who I'm pretty sure was modelled after Andreja Pejic. That was super cool. And I admired those aspects a lot they were just.... A pretty small portion.

Its rare that I want more drama but..... I wish there was a little more revenge at least. <<less

Can't find in myself to finish this novel, and tried it twice! Don't like the stalker & bully ML or MC-ML interactions - ML literally controls or has a hand in everything MC does... MC buys a house, and viola, the seller was ML's friend and gave MC a good deal (without MC even knowing)... ML just blatantly sexualizes MC and their every conversation becomes full of innuendos, making MC speechless... ML bullies *everyone* around him, but it's used as a humor plot - hahaha-ML bullying someone is so funny, and because he's so OP, no one can fight back-hahaha...

A few days back, I was desperately looking for a BL that I had read when I didn't have an NU account. So,

immediately after finished that (My husband has terminal sickness), I was on cloud 9 and found this novel in the rec list. I wouldn't lie, I have read a few model/actor/showbiz BLs and those were good, as such my expectation for this novel was also high.

The writing is good, flowy, and smooth, but concurrent. *Something big happens, gets resolved and on the way to the conclusion,... more>> MC's Weibo and Muse account receives more follower

The chemistry between MC and ML is outstanding, but MC's view about himself is a bit narcissistic. You might ask, why point out only MC and not the ML, who was openly narcissistic. Here's why.

Spoiler
    • The MC believed that he came so far without participating in any Ji and Ya show means he has gained a foothold completely with his own strength. However, we find out that it's the ML clearing the MC's path to progress most of the time than not (in the beginning).
    • Looks down on the OC quite a few times

Why not call ML the narcissist? Because ML's character development story was short but realistic. He grew up in the face of challenges. His life story was even more detailed than MC's, which was surprising. MC was an orphan and that's that. But ML had an uncle, he had an older sister who died, had an aunt who was born after him, etc.

[collapse]

The thing that made me- an Asian but sub-continental (not Chinese, Japanese, Korean) - greatly uncomfortable is the insane level of xenophobia bordering jingoism. I'm glad people are embracing homosexuality in Huaxia, protesting against Racism, but on the other hand, are quite openly being judgmental towards Americans and Europeans. The level of disrespect felt uncomfortable. I'm Muslim, I would know better how it feels to be constantly being judged in the US, Europe, and yes, China, so their xenophobia felt a bit unfair, considering how people of Huaxia themselves were one-eyed (only caring about the supremacy of Huaxia, and thinking other countries/races/ people are dull)

The 4 star is for the love story, the beautiful theme of the novel, and the vivid portrayal of the fashion world (aaaand the smut, ngl). <<less

While I liked the story, there are two problematic points that I need to point out. Some people were saying the series is racist against Americans, this is not true. The worst thing they said about Americans was that they only know how to swear with sh*t and f*ck and not like Chinese idioms.

HOWEVER, this book is REALLY racist against non-chinese Asians. Like there's nationalism, the book was filled with propaganda about China and Mao, that's fine I don't mind it. But when you include nasty bits about other Asians... more>> (there were attacks in the books about Japanese and South Koreans) with statements such as 'Japanese can't be models because they're too short', that's beyond loving your country and goes into racism territory.

The second problematic thing or something that disturbed me while reading was how out of proportion the face slapping was. There was a really minor incident with an American woman
Spoiler

(there was a red carpet event. MC walked in with an American actress. After they left the photo area and went into the seating, the American woman switched to an American man (I literally do not see a problem with this? People socialize at these event) AND the MC went to the ML. There was a small interview and she gave a short statement about it to a gossip magazine, nothing really negative but confirmed that she didn't stay with the MC)

[collapse]
. The ML decided to retaliate by creating false rumors that she had aids, released her nudes, blacklisting her from the entertainment industry, and FORCING HER TO GET PLASTIC SURGERY so that she'd look ugly. This is too much. <<less

The novel, at most, is a 85/100 for me. I can’t say it’s a hundred like the other reviews since there’s some obvious parts that were weird (for the plot), but it’s a nice novel with some showbiz-y elements.
The romance wasn’t bad, it happened nicely and smoothly. Although it takes up a lot of space in the story, the novel is still mostly focused on the MC’s occupation and how it develops. I honestly can’t say I like the ML, especially in the s*x scenes, but he passes. The... more>> main plot was normal. I didn’t like it but it’s average for showbiz types of BL novels (though it’s modelling?).

There was something that stuck out weirdly to me though. The author’s fixation of making China number 1 at everything and the really stereotypical image of Americans. I can understand trying to make China one of the places where the fashion industry is really developed, since Chinese culture would be easier for the author to write. But there’s absolutely no need to emphasise that a million of times. I’m Chinese (Not ABC), and I’m really proud of my country, but I don’t see the need to be fixated upon making our country absolutely number 1 at everything and mentioning that other countries have nothing on China in everything (in the fashion industry and GDP + people/fans). Also, the stereotype of Americans having no culture/manners makes me cringe. I’m sure there’s no need to put down Americans every chance you get. I forgot which chapter, but they mentioned “since America is such a young country with only 200 years of history” or something like that. Feels weird. Also there are racist comments from fans targeting Americans. There are less racism towards Europeans or other Asians and Africans, so I feel like the author has a grudge towards America? There’s not much sexism and there’s even a trans model, so I guess that’s one of the nice things.

Conclusion: This is a novel that works as an average novel of the showbiz kind, isn’t particularly well but isn’t horrible (except for the Americaphobia? Is that a word?). I didn’t like it but it seems that how good this novel is depend on the reader’s preferences heavily. Read at your own risk. <<less

Tbh, I didn't really have any expectations to this novel. I just decided to read this because I got bored but now, I could say that it's a good thing that I read this novel.

I love the MC (uke) because he's confident, independent and he knows what to do. He's not the type of uke who is dependent to the seme and I like it this way. I also love the ML because he respects the uke. I love their interactions, it's cute.

Xi Ze would fell into deep sleep like comatose state because works too hard. The doctor even feel helpless why he still didn't wake up. Apparently when he was in coma, he watch all Ming Yu's past life in another world. Ming Yu's past sickness that lead him to death is even more painful horrible mentioned, since in the very beginning of this novel, his past situation was only mentioned simply like He get Sick and then died. The extra going to mention how really sad his past life sickness was and Xi Ze WATCHED ALL THAT!!! And then he woke up. And told Ming Yu about his concern later on.

After much consideration, I decided to write this review because people aren't judging this right. (if you want to know my final view just read the last line)

Let's talk about the MC and ML being op. What do you expect for the mc?He is a reborn one, so of course he ought to be skilled. For a bl addict like me, I personally don't like weak chicken MC. You won't be happy with a MC being a weak chicken but you won't like a powerful one either. Then what... more>> exactly do you like?and for the ML, ML in bl novels are always handsome, op. If not op then at least some big shot in most bl novels. And the cannon fodders, they end up being slapped by the face and that's what makes them cannon folders. Schemes and face slapping are common in entertainment circle novels.

Overall, in my opinion although this novel can't be considered the best, it's a decent read. No problem with giving it a try and at least deserves a 4 stars. <<less

Whoever says that this novel is not bad or average is so wrong. I cried when this ended (after reading it the 2nd time) . I know people can have their own opinion but don't just not read this because of the bad comments. I don't think anyone could ever regret reading a novel as good as this. I love this novel lots and hope more people will read this.

Dnf'ed cz it was so long, detailed and boring. Too much of netizens' talks and 10 paragraphs descriptions of things which will never be mentioned again in future...

Here is an example of a suit description which was on MC during fashion show.

Spoiler

Yes, Sixin's fashion show might be for ready to wear clothing but there was one high-end outfit, while was the last casual suit that Ming Yu showed the audience.

This suit was made of the finest cashmere and the gold threading of the outline pattern was specifically ordered from France.

The black background colour was the favourite of each high-end suit. Ming Yu's frame wasn't as burley as Westerners but the suit was tailored very closely to his body, looking elegant and refined.

The first-class workmanship and finest materials made the youth's noble temperament stand out even more. In addition, the vine-like patterns on the right side of the outfit were like stars in the night sky, making this outfit calmer.

Fei Sixin's biggest breakthrough with this suit was the series of broken diamond designs at the collar.

The right side fabric had a light gold pattern while the left side of the collar was a mosaic made of many tiny diamonds. The diamonds reflected in the bright light. The upper part was round and the lower part thin, with the ends hidden at the end of the collar. It was a mysterious and beautiful as the Milky Way.

Moreover, once this outfit was worn by Ming Yu, it gave off a calm and fascinating atmosphere. Otherwise, Duan Yusong wouldn't have been so captivated in the audience. He was directly attracted by the youth who looked like this and didn't recover in the end.

This outfit was really too wasted on the first show of an original brand.

There wouldn't be anyone who had doubts if this outfit was placed in the high-end shows of top luxury brands!

Of course, that was when it was worn on Ming Yu's body. As the top master argued, not every supermodel in the world could wear it.

[collapse]

And that's it, he never wear it again after that. Why would you need such a detailed description of it? And there are many other examples of similar unnecessary long descriptions.

Just before that I read I Have Amnesia, Don't Be Noisy!, which also have an insiders story of entertainment industry, with "work romance" and a lot of face slapping but even though I did not rate it that high it is much much better and funnier!

Here is a good review by Chocotania which I agree with and will not repeat what was said there, just read it.

https://www. novelupdates. com/fdrev/?comid=162873&sid=15534

And another one https://www. novelupdates. com/fdrev/?comid=158934&sid=15534 which I mostly agree with except for translation part. The translation would benefit from having a beta. It is not bad but could be much much better. Though the translator kind of warned readers not to expect much still just having a good beta would improve the quality considerably.

P. S.: Oh, and those ridiculous Western names... the only funny thing about this novel... <<less

I've seen many mixed reviews about this story and here are my comments:

1. First of all, disclaimer: I really like these kinds of stories where both the MC and ML are too overpowered and cause trouble for everyone

2. This is a story about a rebirth and the rise to fame, a classic in Chinese BL novels. This trope is so classic but I'm such a sucker for it. It's fluffy and straightforward.

3. Dog food everywhere. It's seriously fluffy. I've squealed plenty of times and leaves you grinning in some chapters... more>> because: too OP! 太OP了. I love them (MC and ML) so much because love is everywhere they are so cute. I am sad to be single sometimes

4. Straightforward plot. Very straightforward. You know the ending right from the beginning. Just a sprinkling of classic melodrama here and there.

Some drawbacks:

5. Barely any character development. The characters stay the same.

6. Why can't any of the villains have some redemption :" ((

7. Some people may not like this kind of straightforward stories because there isn't much depth into relationships and overtly detailed descriptions on actions taken by ML and MC.

Final comment:

Ultimately I just really enjoyed this kind of fast-food novels. Quick and satisfying (and so plentifully fluffy) It can leave you in either a good mood or a I'm sad to be single mood. <<less

I'll be completely honest here. Some books are not meant to satisfy a reader's quest for a memorable plot and this is definitely one of them. If you want an amazing story, with twists and turns and an emotional rollercoaster with action and stuff like that, then this book is not for you.

The whole reason I started reading this book is that it had too many mixed reviews. About half of the reviews were bad but the other half praised the book to no extent, even comparing it to FOD... more>> (which surprised me but I guess I understand why it is compared to FOD). So I wanted to judge it for myself and I'm glad I read it.

The plot, in general, can be summed up in one line- 'The rise of a supermodel.'

But trust me when I tell you this, even though this book's plot is lacking (a LOT) and even though the book might bore you at times, it will make you laugh like there's no tomorrow, it'll make you feel wicked and evil, it'll make you blush, it'll make you squeal in excitement, heck! It'll even make you scream. And you start seeing the growth of someone and when that 'someone' finally is in a place you want them to be in, you can't help but feel proud and happy.

Sometimes, it is more about the emotions a book makes you feel when you read it more than the story. I'm not saying that if you don't read this book, you will be missing out on life. No. You can choose not to read it and you won't miss out on anything. But it is entertaining, funny, and definitely a good read. And unlike most people, I like the second half of the book more than the first. <<less
