Jiang Laidi’s early life could only be described as tragic.

Born into a backward, ignorant mountain village, she had an honest but powerless father, a timid mother, and four older sisters. Her domineering grandfather and sharp-tongued grandmother drained their family dry to support her uncle’s household.

They never had enough to eat or wear—simply because there was no son in the family.

Apart from the bond with her sisters, all she had were painful memories. She fought hard to leave that place, only to die unexpectedly and wake up before her own birth.

But something felt… different.

Looking down at the extra lump of flesh on her body, Jiang Laidi realized—she had become a boy.

Suddenly, the grandfather who once scorned her now called her his dearest treasure. The grandmother who had always been harsh now doted on her. Even her timid parents seemed ready to stand tall.

Faced with a completely different fate, should he forget his past life?

This is the story of a woman, once crushed by the weight of gender discrimination, who is reborn as a man in that turbulent era. With her sisters by her side, she leads them toward a better future.

The beginning was a bit boring for me, but later on the novel gets interesting.

Spoiler

He feels a knot in his heart because in his previous life his parents and grandparents made his life miserable, but in this one they treat him like a treasure and have never hurt him.

Also because his two cousins, aged 8 and 6, live a miserable life in this life and repented to later live at home with ML and his sisters, on the one hand he feels that they are innocent children, But in the other, they both ab*sed the sisters and the ML for being women in their previous life.

There is also the typical boy in the village who is a genius with a poor family, in his previous life he was the childhood love of Ml, but in this life he moves away from him since he was reborn as a man and He is not willing to risk his happiness and that of his sisters since being homos*xual could be severely condemned under the laws of the time.

I'm not an expert on Chinese history, but this is one of the novels that seems to go out of its way to portray the social context of the time, in addition to the golden finger of the ML.
