This novel had a lot of potential but it gets repetitive with limitless face smacking and MC playing pig eat tiger.

Killing indiscriminately in modern society with little regard for the law, going around bullying natives of other countries, planning to destroy and rob their shrines.

For a novel that's listed under harem genre, it's also an absolute and utter waste of time.

Spoiler

After hundreds of chapters one of the closest females to being a second love interest of the MC is one of the girl's that showed concern and didn't look down on him before his fame even when she had a higher status than him. That girl's father was killed by someone because he refused to bow down to that person and let him take over the MC's turf when the MC was missing. Later the MC returns and after finding out about the incident is said to feel guilty because the girl's father wouldn't have died if he weren't loyal to the MC.

MC vows to himself that he would take care of the girl. Apparently the girl is considered a goddess everywhere she goes. In this novel the females that are considered goddesses are pretty much always harassed by pursuers such as lecherous young masters. Anyway MC inquirers about her whereabouts and finds out that she moved to the capital. MC apparently he care so much about her but only visits her well after a year or two. Simply ridiculous he doesn't know if she has been harassed as she no longer has her father's backing so many bad things could have happened to her during the time that MC neglected to check up on her.

Anyways he visits her well after a year or two without knowing about her safety beforehand then before visiting her he makes sure to use his best physical appearance (he cultivated his body which makes him otherworldly handsome, he can switch between "ordinary" and handsome appearance) when going to visit her because he doesn't want her to lose face. MC finally reunites with her at her college, MC makes peoples heads turn how attractive his heavenly appearance is. The girl is ecstatic to see the MC.

Of-course she hasn't dated or entertained any male despite have many outstanding pursuers because she only has eyes for the MC, it's been obvious for a long time that she likes him. MC is well aware even with his supposedly "ordinary" appearance before his cultivation. Her friend is something like "SO THAT'S THE MAN YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR". Later MC brings her home and tells his mother what happened then makes her his SISTER LOLOL. You've got to be kidding.

MC says to another girl, "I'll give you a life of freedom so I'll just pretend to be your boyfriend to give you a status. When you find someone you like just let me know." Everyone believes that girl is his girlfriend now so they show her great respect and even make her their Patriarch of her clan - keep in mind that this girl and her parents had very low status within the clan before she was thought to be the girlfriend of the MC. Now everyone believes that she is the MC's 'woman'. MC to their clan is well respected for his strength and influence after he killed a few strong people. Anyway if the girl finds herself a person she likes then the well-respected MC will be wearing a Green-hat. This kind mentality from the MC is rather pathetic.

Another garbage thing happened. The MC used some technique that might've altered the lives of people he knows. He had a glimpse of his mother in a distance place walking around with young kids which should be her new birth children and after seeing that he hopes that his biological father is the father of his mother's children. In other word's there's a possibility that his father might've been cucked because of him. WOW and I wonder what might've happened to those high quality females that the author likes to dangle around the MC and pretend like the MC is gonna have a harem when in fact it's not the case and doesn't seem like that will ever happened. It's more like dangling a carrot without any intention of following through.

[collapse]

MC has no problem killing indiscriminately and can be rather petty. The plot is pretty average and the 99% percent of the close recruits of the MC are females despite him not having a harem which make's it rather pointless and puzzling as to why he has little to no male friends.

Wouldn't recommend this novel as it's story is pretty flat and MC's attitude and interaction with people makes it quiet a bore. This novel is also currently incomplete and the authors hasn't released new chapters but after more than 1200 chapter's it doesn't look like it will get any better so might as well give this a miss. <<less

The novel is pretty similar to other modern day novels, it is similar to the ones where the MC reincarnates and gets revenge for every bad thing that ever happened to him.

There is also some racism such as the MC killing Japanese martial arts masters easily and enslaving Japanese women.

MC is a total OP badass when dealing with enemies, absolutely dominating them, however it's too bad that the MC's arrogance make him too bland and boring outside of fights.

If you wanna read this with the expectation of a harem don't waste your time because it's not which is even more disappointing since the author constantly keeps adding new female character's to interact with the MC for long periods of time.
Spoiler

Author keeps introducing outstanding female characters which ends up wasteful since the MC has no intention of having more than one love interest, additionally some of the writing is unreliable eg. we've got one female character that was heavily implied to have feelings for MC, going so far as not following her best friends from her school to a prominent university but instead went to the same inferior university that the MC went to, she also didn't go to their high school class reunion when her friends invited her because the MC didn't go, then she also spent years frequently cleaning the villa that MC used to live in, She cried when MC was being outnumbered by martial experts, She's enamored by MC's attractiveness, etc... Later the author says that she doesn't like him which is complete BS and makes the words in this novel unreliable as the author could give character's a complete 180 without any reasonable explanation.

Then there's another female character that has good relationship with the MC and MC knows that she likes him, she may even love him and then she told the MC's enemy that was going to kill her because of him that MC was her husband to which MC didn't refute but even asked the enemy " You said a moment ago that you were going to kill my wife?" Well, he doesn't even consider her a girlfriend as he only care's about his childhood love interest so this is misleading.

There's plenty of other wasted opportunities.

[collapse]

The novel uses a repetitive formula. MC travels around hiding his identity which usually results with other arrogant characters trying to bully the MC throwing around their status unbeknownst to them that the MC is a powerful martial powerhouse that could wipe out their entire family/clan until it's too late so MC beats up and humiliates or kills them.

MC arrogance is through the roof.
Spoiler

After a duel with a Japanese sword master, the Japanese sword master's disciple was worried about his master and asked the MC "what happened to his master?" concerned if his master is alive or dead, the MC doesn't answer instead scolds and attacks the disciple. Another Japanese martial artist politely tell's the MC that the disciple is only concerned about his master, well MC scolds her too and even threatens and attacks her despite her not being hostile towards him. That's just one of many examples.

[collapse]

The only positive of this novel is that the MC is Overpowered and his ability to completely dominate his enemies. The rest of story is pretty much similar to most other reincarnation novels which usually about MC's past life being a "talent-less loser" then getting a lucky chance to become one of the strongest in their previous world.
Spoiler

MC wasn't recruited by his previous life master Immortal Cang Qing, he was a "drunken loser" about to commit su*cide at the age of 30 but was only saved and taken to cultivation world because his childhood love interest request Immortal Cang Qing to take him with her. Yup that's right, Fang Qiong was the one with the real talent. MC was still a "talent-less loser" like most other cultivation novels who struggled to cultivate even to the lowest realms of cultivation. It's only after Fang Qiong saved the MC's life that she was mortally wounded and before dying she transferred her godly talent to the MC then he was able to stand on top of the cultivation world thereby allowing him to become the dignified "Northern Profound Immortal Venerable". Since the beginning of the novel the MC uses all the knowledge and superior martial techniques that he acquired in his previous future life to make up for his lack of inborn martial talent.

The MC in this novel is arrogant, self-centered and way too ruthless.
Spoiler

He wipes out five generations of entire families and that's only because his power is limited if he could he would wipe out their bloodline right till their founding ancestor. He uses a spell of sorts with the persons blood which tracks down anyone that carries the same bloodline as his enemy even if they are a saint living a pious life, it doesn't matter as long as they are related by the same blood, cousins included, he even killed unborn children using this method. The spell kills anyone men, women and including children.

It started like a decent return to modern Earth, second chance story. However, after a while some of the actions of the MC made no sense, especially during the Japan arc. First, MC mentioned that he missed his relationships from his previous life, like his family, and main love interest. Yet, MC spends a few weeks with each of them, and spends most of his time with different women. Then, he has no problem killing men that offend him, but does not kill women, even if they threaten his family,... more>> except for a Japanese girl. Now, the Japan arc made no sense, the MC did not have a reason to be involve. I think the author added the Japan arc to have a Chinese kill all the Japanese experts and destroy their defense force as a type of wish fulfillment. <<less

ultimate tr*sh of the novel. I was not surprised that it was dropped.

arcs are repetitive. Arrogant people go against him cause he is tr*sh/ant/whatever, he kills them, levels up and then story repeats itself. Totally one dimensional storyline without any flavor.

author didnt even bother trying to write a decent novel. Dialogues even seem like copy paste cause he didnt want to bother.

recommendation: avoid.

If MC is an enlightened 500 year old immortal cultivator, then I will eat a shoe.

He acts like a little kid. Fights with little kids over the most trivial and senseless things. If he's achieved immortality, then shouldn't he have left his mortal desires and emotions behind him? But no, he still acts like a brat, needing to prove himself to the most annoying and useless of people.

All girls seems to fall for him, even if they hate him at the beginning. They're either perfect or b*tchy or bipolar. No... more>> well developed girl characters here, unless you want to discuss their figures or something.

Bottom line, MC is supposed to be a reborn immortal but can't help acting like an annoying brat. <<less

I would've continued reading this if it wasn't because of MC being too arrogant, seeing himself as already successful just because he knew more than others and his talent is too good or because he's sure he'll be successful because of he knew it as a fact according to his past.
Spoiler

I would've read this since the plot seems really interesting, I like powerful hidden MC's that aren't as arrogant. I rather the humble, truly trying their best to HIDE their strength and sincere to others instead of pretending. Moreover isn't cultivation suppose to be like that. I read a BL once with a Xian xia mixed with apocalypse. MC's character there was really refreshing. The MC their doesn't brag, is sincere, and is really like a cultivator that doesn't care for petty dispute.

This is the type of novel that you'd read only if you want to see an OP MC slaughtering arrogant dumbass enemies over and over again. It's definitely not the type of novel that makes you excited for new updates, it's all just the same rehashed generic plot.

The first chapters with all the school drama and constant face slapping ordinary idiots was f*cking boring. MC goes with the flow, kids think that he's tr*sh and doesn't deserve the girl (a ret*rded c*nt who thinks that MC is trying to impress... more>> her when he just minds his own business), everyone finds out that MC is super duper awesome, they're now ashamed blah blah...

The plot picks up a little after that, and we finally start to get on with the cultivation, but unfortunately there's still a sh*t ton of annoying face slapping and MC needing to prove himself to ordinary ret*rds who don't know sh*t about cultivation.

The plot itself is extremely repetitive and even boring outside of fights. There's a lot of dumb filler chapters where MC just does something and the peanut gallery reacts for two chapters straight. My God is it annoying, luckily the manhua skipped those useless filler chapters.

The biggest problem with me is the s*upidity of the enemies and the MC himself. I think you know how the enemies behave, it's the same arrogant loudmouths over and over again, drowning in their own delusions of grandeur and refusing to admit that MC is stronger than them even when they're beaten black and blue.

However, I dislike MC's actions more. He's way too arrogant, prideful, self centered and shortsighted. I'm having a hard time searching for an MC more oversensitive than this guy, like he cripples people left and right just because he was insulted two times by a young master who saw him for the first time. The thing is, if the MC didn't hide his identity for no real reason (he even reveals it nonchalantly in front of some students) these young masters wouldn't dare insult him, and he wouldn't need to slaughter so many families.

Another example of MC's brilliance: He hears about the existence of cultivators on Earth and he's a little surprised. After finding out that pretty much every rich and influential family in China and the world are related to cultivators in some way, what does he do? He regards them as nonentities and ignores them. Big mistake if you need protection for your family once you leave Earth.

He quickly becomes rich and influential in one province and decides to go and search for herbs "secretly". Face slapping ensues, he kills people and provokes a sh*t load of them. Que a few hundred chapters of powering up and slaughtering weak cultivators to the point where governments consider him a threat.

He then realises that once he leaves Earth, his family (who is pretty much his only cryptonite) will be in danger by themselves and might get attacked by the billion enemies he made.

MC's solution? Create a weak ass sect that can't defend itself for sh*t without him, requiring MC to constantly come back and kill more and more enemies before leaving somewhere again.

If MC was even a little bit smart, he would've known that killing people like a genocidal maniac will naturally make the government wary of you. You're not a god anymore, MC. You're weak now. Instead of making enemies like a fool, he should've laid low, used his network of contacts to find out more information about important factions, and then slowly conquer them one by one. It's been shown that MC can effortlessly pull out a piece of someone's soul and make them his s*aves. 100% loyalty + you get all of their money and cultivation resources.

What's more, MC has a bad habit of accepting crippled organizations into his sect, meaning that those absorbed organizations are now pretty much useless and devoid of any potential powerhouses that could've ensured his sect's safety. For example:

Spoiler

MC destroys the witch god sect, a powerful organization that was in control of an entire small country. Their witch god leader was weak in comparison to MC, but was strong by Earth standards, enough to be feared by a lot of people. Instead of beating up the witch god and making him into his s*ave, thus making his power and influence greater, our MC kills him and around 90% of elders because they captured some girl that MC knew. MC then later absorbs this organization, now pathetically weak with only three elders remaining, thus making them utterly useless. MC could've had a country under him, but he blew it because of harem bait.

[collapse]

MC also works together with rich families that betray him the moment he leaves off somewhere, thinking that he's dead. He doesn't bother about ensuring their loyalty in any way, and this constantly requires him to slaughter entire families continuously.

Some more examples of MC's wasted opportunities:

Spoiler

MC kills a guy from an overseas sect, that guy had the potential to reach immortal realm in the future and enslaving him would mean you have an OP influential guy under you with the potential to become an Immortal realm servant.

MC also later beats up a woman elder from the same sect, lets her go unscathed to send a message of sorts, when she could've been used as a spy.

That same sect later sends their strongest and only Immortal realm expert at the MC alongside two more. Again, this guy could've been made into a s*ave, effectively bringing the entire sect under the MC.

One of the two extra Immortal realm experts didn't even need to be an enemy. If MC actually negotiated with the Lin family instead of killing their greatest child and elder, MC could've either bought himself some time to cultivate or outright challenge the Immortal realm expert of the Lin family, beating him up and enslaving him, effectively gaining two Immortal realm experts.

There was also one taoist influential guy from jiuling province who was respected, and was overall a good guy who only challenged MC after his disciple was killed by MC. MC kills him as well, and now that this province is without a leader, other people go against the MC for the ownership of the province.

MC also beats up Japan's greatest swordsman and (unintentionally) helps him breakthrough to Immortal realm during the fight. The swordsman is still weak as sh*t to MC, so our MC kills him instead of enslaving him and having an Immortal realm expert under him. He then eradicates japanese ninjas instead of using them as spies...

After killing the Lin family dude, MC gets challenged by seven Immortal realm experts who represent pretty much the entirety of Immortal realm experts of the east, meaning that if these guys come together they can threaten a superpower like USA. MC beats the living sh*t out of them, and instead of using them as his servants, allowing him full control over entire China and Japan, he kills them...

He also kills three strongest underworld members in Russia. He kills one, cripples one, and beats up one. Instead of at least enslaving the last one, who was the number one strongest mind you, he lets him go alive, later Russia bombs the place, MC is presumed dead, and the only survivor is the last strongest guy. If this guy was ens*aved, MC would also at least suppress the entire eastern underworld, if not control it.

There was also the time when MC killed an Immortal realm expert of Thailand when he could have had the entire Thailand under his thumb since that guy was an uncle of Thailand's monarch.....

[collapse]

The worst part is how MC never bothers to check on the situation in the martial arts world, and is always surprised about how some new family or faction he never heard of is aiming to beat up his sect. If this MC had any f*cking brain in his head, he could've effortlessly held the entire China, Japan, Thailand and some small country in southeast asia in his grasp by simply not killing but enslaving powerful immortal state cultivators before even reaching chapter 600. But no, ultimate power number 1 is the moto of this MC, and this means more slaughtering.

Overall, this novel deserves 2 stars, it's also full of hate towards the Japanese, America, the Catholic Church and it has sexism in it, but since I enjoyed some of the brainless fights I'll give it 3 stars. <<less

if he wasn't op I wouldn't even give this book a single point. I like Opness. The MC is always uglier than your average joe. He nevers become handsome.

but here MC is very naive. He doesn't act like a 500 years old at all. He gets surprised at whatever he sees. He sees a girl he gets surprised. He sees another girl he gets surprised by her tea making skill. He see another girl gets suprised by her beauty. What kinda immortal is he to be surpised by mortal... more>> girls? A lot of high school drama. I hate high school drama. I don't mind ruthlessnesss but what bugs me is MC always goes with the flow. Every girl would be shown as good even though they are always arrogant and gold diggers.

a girl he saves from r*pe wants him to join her bar to work as bar attender and he agrees without any reasons and hesitation. He got a 30 million mansion and yet he works for a girl for couple bucks a month. She is just a random girl, not even his past love interest.

he saves that jiang churan girl god knows how many times despite her not respecting him at all. And says because he vowed to protect her to his aunt. What bullsh*t reason is this? Instead of cultivation he starts to go to school and shit.

what happened to the wise aloof immortal? Why is he so naive. He looks for troubles all the time.

I'm not even going to talk about the nationalism, racism, his ruthlessness and mc's ugly appearance. Racism is in every chapter here. MC is always described as ugly and not attractive, which I don't like. What is happening in the world why all the OP |MCs are ugly and naive. Almost All the OP MCs I ve seen so far is ugly and naive.

and I read this novel knowing that MC is a racist and nationalist cuz to tell you the truth I m helpless. I read almost all the xianxia novels that has at least chapter 100. But I dropped 50% of those after couple of chapters and 20% after halfway, 10% completed, and the rest of 10% waiting for new chapters. Unfortunately this novel is one of the novel that I dropped even before reading chapter 18. I m sure it is not gonna improve as I already read reviews of others claiming that it gets repetetive. And face slaping happens a lot. I hate illogical face slappings. <<less

Spoiler

The MC a.k.a "The Celestial" is a discount Li Qiye who died because he had a faulty cultivation foundation and reincarnates on his younger self, now he wants to surpass his old power and achieve the peak of cultivation.

The MC is pretty stoic and gives no face, if he has to kill someone on the spot he does so, in fact there are tons of face slapping, and I wouldn't say it's a bad thing because that's what you expect when you search for novels with this tag combination.

Talking about tags, if you're not into harem then you can start reading the novel because this novel has none of it!
For some reason the author thought that introducing 1 or 2 beauties every arc and having them fall in love with the MC was a good idea
(all of them hate his guts, then they get interested because he doesn't give face, then they "fall" for his power)

Why is this a thing? Earlier, the author gave this excuse about the MC not caring about love because "he's the Celestial, and to him emotions mean nothing", so this constant rain of beauties ends up being hyper annoying for the reader because you know these characters have no chance, meaning or impact.
(by the way, he mentions a couple times how he needs the power to protect Fang Qiong, his past life's LOVER! Nice writing man)

So you have the MC running around gathering herbs for his cultivation while finding beauties, this is the "plot"
->X character asks MC to go to Y place, or someone tells him he can get this X herb on Y place
->MC obeys because "muh herbs"
->MC finds a young master/thug trying to bully a beauty
->MC steps in but does nothing about it, just stands there watching
->Young master/thug gets pissed because of the MC's presence and redirects his gang on him
->Beauty is disappointed because she thought the MC would save her, so she calls for help/threatens the young master/thug with her background to save MC
->Young master/thug has a background with bigger power so they don't care
->Beauty despairs because the MC will get beaten up because of her (???????)
->MC finally decides to use his power/background
->Young master/thug kowtows
->Beauty flirts with the MC
->MC ignores the beauty
->New arc starts, back to the beginning

I read what I could with this quarantine/boredom situation.

You've got the average 'rebirth on earth' story. MC is honestly not the most intelligent. Personality is garbage. It's just repetition of 'How dare you talk to me like that mortal?' *Breaks legs *wipes out bloodline.

He walks around acting arrogant and calling people mortals the whole time. It's just.... dumb.

Sexism is fairly rampant among chinese novels, but its on another level here. Women are essentially accessories in this novel. Cant remember a single case of a woman who earned her own position... more>> in society. All the women in this story are in their position because of a rich husband or family. Everyone just talks down to them the whole story.

1/5 only because I cant give it 0/5. <<less

I consider this novel a good read. Bad points would be MC's arrogance at times.

MC is considered among the strongest in the universe. Unlike his master who stopped at the 8th stage of cultivation, he decides to breakthrough to the final stage and accept Tribulation (the thing where cultivators gets hit by Heavenly Thunder and upgrades a realm). During Tribulation, he was haunted by his Heart Demon due to a past mistake, and was turned to ashes. At this point he should have died, but for some reason he was... more>> returned to years past when he was still a common mortal boy, about 30 years before stepping into the road of cultivation. Deciding this to be his ultimate chance to redo his life, he started cultivating with the memories he has.

MC is rather arrogant at times, mainly due to him having been considered and respected among the strongest in the universe. He just cant seem to forget at times that he is a common cultivator without his previous identity and powers. Novel follows his journey to cultivate in the modern era on Earth, since in his previous lifetime he followed his master away from the planet to cultivate, thus there are many things new to him about Earth. While cultivating he learnt new stuff he didnt knew previously about Earth, and deals with things as they come. As common xianxia style, he gets in fights and slaughters a lot, have a pseudo harem (ie girls liking him) while loyal to one girl, and gets OP a lot. <<less

I feel like I was reading "Strongest Abandoned Son" without the Abandoning part.

  • Same reincarnation
  • Same Plot about MC helping Military
  • Same plot about MC's family d*ck problems
  • Same Earth divided by a middle stage plane, then another higher.
  • Same plot of all country in the world going against MC's faction
  • Same plot about MC having a business that goes global.
  • Same plot about MC returning from years of traveling and something wrong happens.
It was hard to separate the two, since the difference between the two is small, I will stop here and give it half score.

As others said, the story is really repetitive. However, what I like about this novel is the sheer OPness of the MC, not giving a f*ck abt laws and killing mercilessly. Complete badass and Ruthless. Though I don't like how he dares to fight America, and defeats it, but is still a pu*sy when it comes to the Chinese Govt. He forces presidents of different countries like Europe and America to visit him.... but what about Xi Jin Ping?😅 Afraid of the Communists, I guess! Lol

Also, the hate that the... more>> author has for the Japanese is on another level.... so much of racism, sexism, etc. <<less

I've been enjoying this so far. It's nice to have an MC who isn't afraid to take out the tr*sh and who is willing to kill mentally mercilessly to protect his loved ones.

If I had anything to complain about it would be the lack of attention he gives some really amazing women around him.

Ok first of all I think the weak protagonist and ugly protagonist should be removed...... bc he basically OP as fck! And he's not ugly at all only average/ordinary (and that only in the begining, he become handsome later on)...

Hmm.... definitely not 1☆ story for me, worth 4☆ in fact.

The story itself pretty good as for now (i skip some-of-the-most-annoying faceslapping moment), BUT with this fcking repetitive recipe.... it will soon goes downhill...

As for MC? He an arrogant as fck! Selfish, ruthless..... no give sh*t to law, act... more>> like he own the world... (Dude, ofc he basically an immortal cultivator who invincible on his past life, and only a step away from eternal life...... and his target from the start to reach the center universe, so... he didn't care about this world too much).

MC have a little similarity with Li Qiye, OP and Badass dominating his enemy and never encounter a setback, but diffent from Li Qiye... he easily surprise to simple thing, like tea making, a girl, enemy, etc... (maybe he never expect that happen on earth?.... Dude, he Already touring the universe and see MANY thing, include primitive world (earth enter this))

Romance? Yes, he dead set to marrying the past lover (they already engaged, but no before some F!! Dramatic moments)

Harem? No (as for now) he have many love interest but he not care about them....

So this is a good novel? Worth reaing? I say that's up to you, personally I enjoyed the novel... just read first don't focus too Much to a review, everyone have different tastes.. <<less

It's a good novel, the MC is OP thanks to his memory of his previous life.

Don't listen to those negative review but read it yourself to understand.

Spoiler

The MC is arrogant, self-centered and ruthless because he was at the peak of cultivation and only below Immortal. His personality is more influenced by his previous life as the Immortal Venerable Bei Xuan who swept all his rival and ennemies, so of course he is ruthless or else he already died, it's particularly strong when it concern his family he lost in his previous life because of his incompetence.

For the one who say he play the pig, it's not that he play the pig but want to cultivate in peace to re-attain his peak with a stronger foundation so he can ascend to the Immortal Realm. As for the killing indiscriminately against the law, he have enough power to overwhelm any one and only if you nuke him he will survive, moreover he won't stay on Earth because his goal he return to the center of the universe where the strongest sect stand, so why will he care about the law.

And last for the racism against japanese, it's not new that part of the chinese population hate japanese for what they did against China during the Second WW. It seem someone didn't study history.

Average book, MC way too arrogant and even forgive his enemies if this can bring him benefits. Light harem because MC didn't care about females except first one.

Spoiler

And only because she caused him to have Heart Demon. In later chapters he will visit 'space' but still return to earth to face new dangers and save whole world.
