Do not read this, you'll just be disappointed

The first 100-150~ chapters are pretty excellent, the characters and their dynamics are fun, the slice of life is surprisingly fun and engaging and the once in a while cultivating/cultivating adjacent parts make it so the slice of life doesn't get too boring or stale

But then it seems that either the author got changed or original author got an aneurysm, they completely f*cked the story and decided to get rid of 100% of what made the first part of the story fun

    Cultivation gets... more>> completely abandoned

No more big drama from cultivating adjacent things like the company

What made the interactions between MC and FMC endearing and fun was their chemistry, how they tease each other and MC looking after FMC, all that gets forgotten and their interactions become MC straight up just tormenting FMC and having fun out of it

FMC becomes like 3 times more childish, her genius gets thrown out of the window while becoming pretty s*upid

When before, their relationship seemed to be a good plot going towards a decently done romance, now it's just a guy having fun out of annoying a little girl

I genuinely don't understand how this story got fumbled this hard, author had to either get changed or just gave up putting effort or something, something went terribly wrong for the writing to become this bad

TLDR: my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined <<less

It is sort of laughable that "daily cultivation" is in the name, considering that, it doesn't really take center stage in this novel. If anything, all it is is a plot device to allow someone who was a loser to be able to rectify otherwise impossible situations. That is to say, there is very little talk about cultivation itself.

The novel quickly turns into pure slice of life, with the author seemingly dropping certain plot threads for tens of chapters at a time (I would say indefinitely, but the whole novel... more>> isn't translated, so maybe it makes a return. The plot threads dropped are naturally the cultivation related ones, as mentioned prior).

In reading, I came to enjoy more so the side characters more than the main characters. In particular, Jiang Ning just becomes a walking plot device. The scenarios with him are "cool" as, who doesn't like to see someone use a power, but, unlike the side characters, character development is almost none after the first tens of chapters. Similarly for the female "lead", Xue Yuantong, who, I can only say, becomes a grating existence after 100 chapters. Whereas Jiang Ning becomes a neutral character with his lack of character development, as he just becomes what cultivation powers are in this novel, a plot device. In contrast, Xue Yuantong maintains an infantile character up until the latest chapter due to lack of character development. It is akin to a character being mentally "slow" or having autism in the worst ways.

tl;dr Jiang Ning and Xue Yuantong are lesser parts of this novel, and cultivation isn't the focus. If you enjoy slice of life, stick till about 100 to 150 chapters to get to know the side-characters. If you find them and their antics enjoyable, as I did, I'd recommend staying around for their stories. Some sections are literal laugh-out-loud funny.

side note, there are some very minor errors in the translation at times. Sadly, the "report" button on the translator's website does pop-up the modal, but the "submit" function doesn't seem to work. E.g., wrong pronoun, wrong word usage car vs. Bicycle, two different translations for the same chapter one after another, seemingly missing sections in the middle of a chapter, etc.

    Spoiler

Also, how is the source world "weak" per chapter 244, but could threaten the cultivation world in an early chapter? Maybe I misread, but that's how I interpreted it.

The first ~250 chapters are quite well-written (which is why I gave it 4 stars), but the novel's quality definitely starts dropping after that. This is because the author failed to tie together daily life and cultivation and focused solely on slice-of-life moments to the detriment of cultivation.

I would say that the most compelling characters in this novel are the side characters since they're all quite distinct and grow over time, which presents a stark contrast when compared to the unchanging protagonist. I know the MC is a cultivator, but... more>> he's rather dull and doesn't do anything except babysit the female lead.

Speaking of the female lead, I initially quite liked that she wasn't some heaven-shattering beauty, but
    Spoiler

the author took the child-like appearance thing too far and now she's just cringe. She's 1.5m (which is decent for Asian women), but she always gets mistaken for a child and her diminutive height is constantly emphasized. Moreover, her personality becomes more and more infantile and she feels more like a toddler than the genius she's supposed to be.

Overall, this book had great potential, but that potential was not realized. <<less

Pacing is a tad slow, but it strikes a good balance overall. Doesn't get overly bogged down with exposition and you get just enough pov/character development to keep the numerous side characters from feeling like filler themselves. MC is not a mu*der hobo, but not a saint. The romance is pretty iffy at this point.

    Spoiler

There are girls that are interested in the MC, but he doesn't seem interested in romance. There does seem like some potential with the neighbor girl, but I could see her just as easily get friend zoned or taken as a cultivation apprentice. The MC treats her like family and protects her. Even going so far as giving her the same protective charm he gives his parents. But he treats her more like a little sister or friend.

There's not much in the way of over the top face slapping or even fights. The few fights have been against non-culitvators so he's basically wiped the floor with them. But the guy is actually working towards his goals without taking too many risks. I really like it but ymmv if you're a big fan of cultivation stories and the typical themes/tropes. <<less
