Cui Heng was transmigrated to another world and the system told him that the new world he was in was a high-grade Xianxia world.

It was a world where Celestial Kings soared the sky and terrifying monsters ruled the lands. The strong would destroy a planet if their mood was bad and Cui Heng trembled in fear when he learned of how scary the new world was.

Thankfully, the system had granted him the protection that last for 300 years. As long as he remained in the safety zone, he would not receive any damage.

With his safety secured, he began his cultivation training for the next 300 years.

Throughout the years as he trained, some people entered his safety zone by mistake.

There was a peasant who was once a monk and a beggar. Despite that, he still had the dream of bringing peace to the land and saving the lives of millions.

There was a noble who was once called the once-in-a-million-year genius. Yet, luck wasn’t at his side and his talent fell and was laughed at by others for years.

There was a princess whose only wish was to find her older brother. She could’ve become a celestial but decided to remain in the human realm to wait for her brother’s return.

There was a weak lady who was plagued with illness from birth but had the goal of adventuring and helping the poor and weak.

Cui Heng befriended these people and even gave them a few pointers before they left.

300 years later, when the protection period had ended, he had finally mastered the Golden Core. Even then, he was still reluctant to go to the outside world.

But when he did, he realized that the world was merely a world of Wuxia.

TL;DR: If you want a high-fantasy classic Xianxia, you've come to the right place. If you want anything else, move along.

This novel does not excel at much. I could list each of the individual flaws that this writing holds, but that would be pointless.

This novel is only good at being a high-fantasy Xianxia, and it does that spectacularly. If you want to read a novel where Golden Core cultivators can destroy a world, you will likely love this novel. If you want to read the philosophical musings of side characters,... more>> you will likely hate this novel.

I had a great time reading this.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who wants to experience true high-fantasy. <<less

Review – chapter 792 (The End of the Novel)

Introduction:
This was quite an interesting novel. I’d say it’s quite different from the other novels in that it focuses 90% of the time on the massiveness of Cultivation. When the MC advances to the next level (including small levels) of Cultivation, it’s not just that he’s a bit more powerful. It’s more about changing at a fundamental level of being. This story really makes you think how small and useless we are in the whole universe.

Pros:

  • foreshadowing – I liked that unlike other Cultivation novels, where the events of the story were thrown together, here it had a direction to go from the beginning of the story.
  • an interesting take on Cultivation
  • No Harem
  • The system is almost negligible, in fact the system only serves to show the MC how to get to the next level. If it wasn’t mentioned once in a while, I would forget it even existed.
  • Great description of Cultivation
  • MC is not arrogant
Cons:

  • the first 180 chapters were very slow. I would also say that things that happened in those 180 chapters were completely unnecessary and didn’t have much relevance to the story.
  • the ending came pretty quickly but still, the ending was enough
  • there are two main paths of Cultivation. The first is for the MC, which is pretty easy to understand but the second, which is used by everyone else in the story, is confusing. There are more than 30 stages in this method. (Link for Wiki is in comments where you can check it out)
  • there’s not that much action
  • The MC is afraid to fight
  • the side characters are easily forgettable
Evaluation:
This novel probably best portrays the truly terrifying powers of the Cultivators. Even the ordinary Golden Core has incomprehensible powers, much less powers like Return To Void Realm where the MC exists at every point in time from the beginning of the universe to the end – omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent
The worst part of this story is probably the first 200 chapters.

It could've deserved 5 stars.

Very good world building continuously opening up over time in a way that makes sense.

Various parallel cultivation paths plus unique elements with good reasons for why they exist.

... more>> Good humor, mostly good pace, good balance of emotions.

Problem is, only very few characters besides the protagonist are very well written. Most could use a bit more depth/detail and personal development. Though it's not terrible either.

He's also very OP and leisurely (doesn't struggle ever at all), so it often feels kinda slice-of-life instead of an epic journey.

Overall not a great masterpiece, but still very enjoyable. <<less

I read it. It's quite good.

OP MC. BUT he has a cautious personality and won't go until he is sure, he's been OP.

I like this type of MC, he's neither arrogant nor is he too polite. Just humble...

... more>> really humble...

This kind of aloof OP MC soothe you from the OP Arrogant, Flamboyant etc etc, MC.

seriously.

With the time skip, I don't feel rush at all.

The story is quite long since it has 400+ chapter and it still ongoing. I don't think they would end it in another 100 ch.

I'm usually annoyed reading this kind of long story and sometimes skip chapter or won't care if there is one or two chpter missing.

But this story makes me reluctant to skip chapter or even the some details on the chapter.

Finished and never get bored, still waiting for the next updates.

It's quite a surprised...

You guys should try reading this, (for me) it's worth my time.

By the way, is the author have some kind of hatred towards monk?? haha

Almost all monk are evil.

Spoiler

This evil thing is just mostly an alien on a grand plan to have the characteristics of human & cultivation. This evil thing actually accupy the heaven.

While the human monk are just good tho it took me long time to find a good HUMAN monk, just, well, human nature. MC point that the monk is a bit selfish. actually it's fine. It's for the masses. It's understandable.

There's also a good monk on Taihongxing.

You might think, why the hell I'm talking about monk here that is seems to be unnecessary. But seriously, I couldn't help but notice this since the monk in this story r really evil. It's been quite going on for many chapters.

Only later, I know that this evil monk not really a human...

[collapse]

After reading it up from 460+ chapter, hey, I gotta say, MC really know how to play, HAHA. <<less

So this is good tr*sh. Really good tr*sh but tr*sh it still is. However I am glad this is the first Novel I've read after taking a long break from Chinese novels because it's sort of rare to find novels like this that have such potential that I can consume it on mass but is not so highly executed that I would have to savor reading each and every word. If you're up for that give this one a try because honestly it has a very good concept for a... more>> novel hidden deep within it's depth. And even if it did abandon the staying inside for 300 years bit, it's surprisingly very binge-worthy. Although if you're Buddhist be warned that the monks in the novel are all very very non-buddha-like and are... all evil? I don't know but I think the Author kind of hates monks.

Anyway, yeah, go read it, see if you like it, and maybe you'll have a fun time. <<less

This novel was good for around 200-300 chapters, and after that it just became filler and tr*sh. The MC becomes op very quick, and he still doesn't go find his beloved disciples that are missing after 400 chapters. His excuse is, "I'm too weak what if I encounter stronger beings than myself" but it's already confirmed that he's the strongest in his universe. What's even worse is that the author loves making stuff up as he writes. He just introduces new cultivation realms that wasn't even talked before. Plus, cultivation... more>> doesn't even make sense at all in this novel. They're not even cultivating at all. The author's way of cultivating is to search for more knowledge and establish connections and that will somehow increase your cultivation, which is absolutely bullshit. Like I said, the author just makes these up for plot. Oh, the MC needs more knowledge to increase his cultivation, and how does he get more knowledge? He goes to sects and force them to give their books to him. Yeah, he does that a lot, and it gets so boring because it's so obvious what's going to happen if he does that bc the MC is already op AF. There's more sh*t that just doesn't make sense and stuff that the author just makes up to further the "plot" but I won't get into that anymore bc there's just too much. This novel seems like the author only knew what to do for the first 100 chapters, and after that just started to make stuff up after seeing how popular this novel was becoming. <<less

The novel is started quite good. But eventually it transform to generic xianxia novel. It no longer fit with the title because it is not wuxia.

The first arch is very good because with his power the MC make ordinary people live became better with his governing, recruit people, punishing evil, etc.

But after the first arch, it's only about cultivating and uncover mystery, which is not really interest me anymore.

Overall quite high quality compared to similar novels, but suffers in characters. The wuxia arcs covering the first world were honestly excellent, with solid characters and nationbuilding in a semi-realistic way, even if it leaned a bit too heavily into the feudal china shtick. After that though, the series nosedives. Enemies become incredibly dumb generic xianxia enemies who want to kill everyone for literally no reason and everyone cowers before the MC who’s one realm stronger than everyone. I grew to hate the realms as well, just going from early... more>> to mid nascent soul for example made him hundreds of times stronger, which means every minor realm completely trivializes everything before it, let alone the major realms. That, combined with him casually being able to raise anyone up to one or two minor realms behind him basically invalidates everyone apart from himself doing anything. I did appreciate the cultivation systems and the comparisons between his own generic xianxia system and the local xuanhuan system as well as the worldbuilding around that.
The biggest issue with this series though are the characters. The only interesting characters are the ones that haven’t shown up since the very start and the author’s been foreshadowing their reunion for pretty much the whole novel. The characters who are here basically only exist to submit to the main character and sing his praises. If the characters were at least interesting this could’ve at least still been a decent novel. <<less

The system is too vague. By that I mean, you can't really grasp what this currency is, how much he can obtain everytime was not really specified. Moreover, the prices are ridiculous to the point that the whole universe in which this novel is situated can't support it. Prices soars by a multiplicative of 10, a lot of useless features is incorporated like "drawing" which basically means gambling, as well as limited time stay like its a hotel. Its a system that is not omnipotent, but merely on a level... more>> of a mortal if you think about it given how those features wasn't really that great and can be ignored.

The world building is fine, the characters are well defined, the only problem is the power level as it keeps you second guessing since there's two power charts being compared simultaneously.

Another thing is... He's too lazy. If you think him reading all those books and increasing his strength alongside it is being productive, no, that's just the natural order of things for a cultivator. The MC seeks the unknown? Not at all, he's just tracing back the road that other people have traversed before and label it "understanding the unknown".

I said that the MC's lazy because he never developed his own spell, he never really practiced alchemy to the deepest level nor did he try to understand the inner workings of arrays and formations. It just suddenly happened, no process of researching and experimenting, maybe there was but it was described too briefly.

His life was too dependent to the system and I gave up when even coupons started appearing. <<less

4.5 stars (idk why I cant change it)

As a seldom reader of a wuxia/xianxia novel that actually delves into the whole cultivation shtick, this is actually pretty well-written for me. This novel is recommended to NEW readers that are interested in cultivation. If you're used to xianxias, this might not be your cup of tea..

Although MC doesn't really struggle, it's a good introduction to cultivation–of how it works, how strong it is, what the realms represent, etc. His cultivation is different from others bc his focuses on knowledge; not... more>> discovering but uncovering (bc I read a review here of how he just traces the past of others–which is correct and can be explained at the ending. For those that wanna get super duper spoiled:

Spoiler

He's "Existence." his very being is to see the existences of living beings and he gains/gives feedback by uncovering secrets and accumulating knowledge thus confirming his existence.

[collapse]

That's why there's not much action or fighting to level up. It's all face-slap whenever something happens pls he's super op 😭

Anyways, after the first few "nation building" arcs, it's all journey across the stars to uncover secrets. So if not into the mysteries, this will be boring for you. Side characters in the beginning were fleshed out, but around 70% in, or after he reaches void return realm, the side characters are just there for convenience–like no delving into their background, relationships, feelings anymore (unless scared or in awe at the majesty of MC ahaha. I think this is bc the narrative focuses on his cultivation itself and how *he* evolves, not on his relationship with others.) Finally, the ending was a bit confusing, but it was still understandable. It was a bit abrupt though, as all his major questions (five? Six? In total, were all packed into 3 chapters.)

i finished and liked the novel, despite its mid reviews. For newbies that want to enter the cultivation boat, this is a great intro to it. More slice of life with no angsty tragedies or harem or anything.

ALSO can someone who finished it pls tell me why I think one of his disciples is his potential love interest? Even at the ending where
Spoiler

Jiang Qiqi was with him in his dao mansion after they all went back in time, or when others in earth thought they were together? She's deadass the only one who calls him big brother immortal not master 😭✋ also how in the early chs, it showed that he really treasured qiqi out of all the 6 visitors? Like they had two interactions, one was 12 days with her as a child, and the other at the ending and I feel so delulu, But the entanglement between the two? Searching for her for from the beginning til the end of time, then meeting her in his "hometown" and she's wearing a white dress and he'a looking hot?

[collapse]
like HELLOOOOOO I need some closureeee

Anyways, ahahaha my delulu aside, it's good. <<less

It had potential to be an enjoyable read, I assumed it being under 1000 chapters the the author kept facts straight even if writing or plot was s*upid.

Boy was I wrong. Lifespans changed, realms change, people being left behind yet somehow are with the group next chapter.

Beyond the extreme plot flaw of MC being all powerful and side characters completely useless. The biggest issue is author forgetting the details concerning everything and anything.

Initial rating was 3.5, on chapter 250 it went down to 2.5 and 300 single star.

OP MC + xianxia cultivation

Fun at the start while he's in that beginner cultivation space, but afterwards it's pretty boring to watch him interact with people who are all much weaker than him.

Not sure that this was ever a wuxia world really.
