Don't know if I'm just used to translated novels, but this is just fine to me. Not boring, no real glaring translation problems.

I can see how it's so highly rated, so go ahead.

The novel itself is decent. Neither all that bad nor groundbreakingly good. However, the translation just breaks immersion. Mistakes such as a character name translated differently two sentences apart and sudden changes in names that are left unexplained, leaving the reader to guess are around, and I'd call these things you can avoid if you give it a once over after translating it or even just read what you type. Translator likes to pipe in right in the paragraphs too. Honestly, the translation just feels lazy. Would've kept reading if... more>> the translation wasn't so annoying. Sure, it's free, but it still ain't worth my time if it ain't enjoyable. <<less

It's not badly written for an op adventurer fic. The characters and plotlines aren't bad though they aren't really anything special either. That said the premise of a vr character getting this op from reading books is a little dumb. Like if it gave him a major but not overwhelming advantage that would be fine and would make for an interesting story but this takes the concept way too far. And if that happened in a fantasy story then it would just be a power fantasy but seeing it happen... more>> in a vr game kind of makes you feel less impressed by the MC and more embarrassed for the game creators. Like this is just terrible game design all around. <<less

Nice and pleasant read but nothing serious or smart. I'm like that there's nothing frustrated things at all, and MC is flows with the flow without tangible obstacles currently. Time kill in best the best of light. Quite the short chapters.

Loving this story so far. Seems like a nice laid back story about a guy being totally clueless that he is exploiting the VR game system that he is in. Really looking forward to seeing where this goes.

What I like about this series is that the MC became op faster than anyone else but still not the most powerful. It's fun to read though not as serious as the other series with the same genre. 4 stars for me.

Its good. I like the plot. interesting. maybe there some ppl that found this novel have really slow plot and boring... but I think that is the charm of this novel. like other ppl who play the game so fast to level up, but this MC just laid back reading... ... more>>

and suddenly he have so much power. its not like irrational tho. its rational to have so much power just by reading book but have low level. cause like make house, if u carefully build the foundation then the house will be much stronger than other house. even its take lot of time.

Great romance. I have been looking for something like this for a long time, where the protagonist calmly and methodically follows his plan. This is a really refreshing experience.
If you like quality Korean novels, then I advise you to pay attention to the Reader.

Finally ending this series by reading the machine translations one. :D

It is a nice stories, though closing to the end it became a little repetition, considering how overpower our MC is.

Spoiler

Considering VRMMO genre, it is a shame that there is nothing mentioned about production job at all.

There is God equipment that is created using recipe, it make title that says increase the chance of success of creating equipment. But there is no blacksmith player or NPC ever mentioned in the story.

Many small detail that is created kinda neglected in the end.

One of it is Routing or whoever its name is (the one from Dokgo Guild with silver dragon ones), it is mentioned like it will be a rival for our MC, but in the end it just mentioned to travel to other dimension (that is not told at all in the main story) and after finished the dimension, only met with the MC once, and then finished. Never been told ever again.

There is the so-called rankers but nothing been mentioned in the "Main Episode" of the game. It feels like when the main episode appear, the rankers go totally hiding and disappear from public. Lol. It is a laugh if I try to remember it again. About why the ranker never appear at all except the beginning.

The ending kinda anti-climatix too, which mentioned the MC goes into reading again. The end.

The pacing is slow and repetitive as the MC has an obsession with reading, so there is a lot of text describing the MC reading books for days. The MC is quite bland as he reads irl and in game and then eats/exercises irl. He tries to spend most of his time reading lol. Although I think Soo-hyuk is bland, I actually really like his character. I think he may be the autism spectrum.... just because he's so obsessed with reading and his social interactions aren't outwardly meaningful? (or the... more>> author isn't good at writing...)

I really enjoy reading this story (not so much the manwha; although both are basically the same). It's peaceful and addicting as dramatic irony drives the story; I'm sure with time I'll get tired and drop the story when I'm sick of that. In stories where the MC is on his path to gradually become op, I find it really satisfying to see it being built up under the noses of "the world", it just really pumps me up. The highs I had in the story are of course when Soo-Hyuk gets a good item or when the dramatic irony happens...:D After the highs I really craved to read more of the story!

I hope that more development happens to the characters. Other than being crazy about dramatic irony, I wouldn't read the story. <<less

typical VR-korean novel. Only the MC doesn't care about playing the game in the "correct" way. The way the author portrayed him is absurd actually. He loves his books too much

It's good, but the chapters have some error after chapter 130 and the ML always read in his free time. Honestly it doesn't make sense to keep reading while playing game, but it's fiction so I don't care about it, but some maybe bored because of this.

There is only one translator and one editor. Both of them are busy, so the chapters have some error.

Decent VRMMORPG story. The "gimmick, " (and to be honest, the main character's entire personality) is the MC being obsessed with books.

The MC's actions are pretty much all defined by, "will this allow me access to more books to read." It's a bit one-dimensional in terms of character development, but I like the humor it provides when reading about the MC's decision making.

It's not super fast paced, but I am enjoying it. Things aren't super hard for the protagonist, which some may find boring. I just skim past the slower... more>> parts and focus on what I find more exciting. There have been a couple arcs in particular that I have liked:

Spoiler
  1. One of the major introductions to the OPness of the MC's broken special class, when he gets revenge on the guild that PKed his parents in the game. Satisfying smashing.
  2. The arc surrounding him finding and selling the first legendary item in the game. I like that he actually does intend to sell it, and I like the subplot of the traitor in his friend's guild.

It's multiple POV and as the story goes on, I feel like it is breaking because of the multiple POV as how he became stronger and meet others and like it becomes very inconvenient for the MC to just do that and this because he doesn't even knew them and they be like eeee and the MC gonna feel like wot?

It's literally multiple POV "EVERY" chapter it gives me discomfort as the author keep trying and trying but it just keep getting nonsensical.

I am surprised I liked it

Usually hate mmorpg settings, but after 2 chapters I got hooked.

Some complained that MC is bland, well how can he be bland being so obsessed with reading! And of course he's not gonna have a higher moral goal, he's in a VR game for God's sake.

The writing style is kinda redundant especially other's pov (the game developers) author kind of trying to make it natural but isn't working.

  • But the main reason I will stick with this novel is to see if he's ever gonna conquer all the libraries in the game........ (?)
I'm weirdly addicted to him, although he has no idea how much of a cheat he is, he is still aware he's a cheat which is kind of understandable, he's not dense

The MC is abit blockheaded for a book addict, he read many book about magic and sword, science or etc. He will do anything for books but what turn me off is that MC do s*upid things. He want to be solo and just read books the game introduce. For a reader that didn't even know how to think what was the best way for his character to move forward and continue his reading hobbyist. I hate it that he pick fire. The most unbalanced magic is illusion with his... more>> overpowered wisdom he can much create anything or force his enemy to his illusion magic and kill them after they are inside. And for a reading maniac he need his friend to tell him what the best choices to pick like he was just a sidekick with no brain. Too much for a reading addict I guess that turn mc's head to a blank no personality shit. His not even a nerd. <<less

A very intriguing read.

I personally like the plot development when it comes to the MC. He isn’t to arrogant nor really humble. He stays kind like a normal human being, of course with a couple of benefits here a there

Spoiler

I love the path where in order to unlock the last library (and him being a book fanatic) he has to conquer all elements. That’s simply: spectacular to read.

it's so boring, MC is just reading and reading again. From chapter 1 to 30s he just read book in library, no action, lack of determination.

you can skim around and you will find him still reading his book in library

If you expect deep characterization, don't. Honestly, just think of it as a light novel on the level of one man army or emperor of solo play. It is just light enough for you to just feel good. There seems to be no tension, no climax, no meaning in the story since there is too many fortuitous encounter as of ch25. The plot for me seems monotonous, although that is perhaps because I've read a lot of stories like this.

the protagonist exist for the reader to self-insert as he is... more>> rather bland as a person (as a reader, some of us do enjoy the act of reading. Perhaps not to the degree of the protagonist, but since I love to read I can sympathize with him. That's why this story is easy to self-insert to for me). Not to say it is bad though. It is enjoyable if you want to read a power fantasy. But if you expect some hidden surprises, I have low expectation that the author will throw us a curve ball. If you just want a power trip, read it.

beyond the protagonist, one major faction (s) as of ch25 feels boring as a whole. It feels like a rehash of the other novel (the reader of book eating magician may feel a deja vu like me) where the protagonist becomes so desirable by every faction that they are competing against each other. The characterization of some faction leader seems like they will be harem member #1 and #2, with word like this girl like to devour the new talent (metaphorically?) like her predecessor did. Can't say that I am a fan of this. If there is one thing I hate, it is this (like the world revolve around the protagonist, that he'll be always "lucky" in his encounter, action, or inaction).

Both heroicnovels and asada translation does a good job to make the translation enjoyable for me to be immersed in without breaking the flow for me. I'm not a native speaker though. <<less
