A top hacker was chosen by the Lord God to be reborn into countless worlds, always as an expendable villain.

With no free will, every world became a dead end. Each of his lives ended tragically.

Finally, after wrestling control of the Villain System, this ace hacker decided to enact revenge. Even if his very bones were rotten, he’d choose to occupy the very heights of morality, if only on the surface.

Thus, he would change his fate as an abused slag.

(WARNING: THIS IS AN 8 PAGE REVIEW)

5/5

My god. One of my favorite books I've ever read, up there with the MXTX novels and Kaleidoscope of Death. I have a lot to say, so I'll get the "bad" out of the way first.

Do not read if:

    • Kinky s*x offends you
    • Age gaps offend you
    • You don't like OP protagonists
    • You don't like dramatic face-slapping
    • You're boring
    • That's it that's all
Why you SHOULD read, in general:

    • You love a HE for every arc in infinite flow but don't mind tearing up a bit on the journey
    • You don't mind the romance not being slow-burn; there's sm*t and romance very early on, but the "real" ML is not revealed for 1000+ pages
    • You don't find an OP couple to be repetitive, since every arc is unique and the way these two lovers bounce off each other is so fun to read every time
    • You're here for the crazy sh*t in the extras hehe
Now for my own sake, I'm going to talk about the arcs and the extras (since 3 out of 4 are canonical and the other 1 is an AU) to help me remember. These are all my own titles and notes.

ARC 1: family body guard x little business tycoon

    • I'm naturally drawn to fantasy, sci-fi, really big stories but before I knew it, I had read 100 pages of business drama. And it was amazing.
    • The author, much like MXTX, explains things very clearly without spoon-feeding information to the reader, so even the complicated business dealings were understandable to this feeble fujoushi brain.
    • Story arc here is that Zhou Yun Sheng (ZYS and MC) has to play the villain role of the neglected legal child of a business tycoon who basically plays cannon fodder so his demise can pave the way for the youngest illegitimate child to prosper in the ways of business and crush his rivals. Typical.
    • What is also typical BUT it so well-written is the MC's personality; he's fully aware of what's expected of him but, as he's recently broken free from the demands of the villain system, his new mission is to power up by f*cking with the original protagonist's fate
    • And oh god does he do it well
    • I won't go into detail with every arc but every arc he's OP, badass, bratty, sympathetic, complex, broken, and furious all in one. As he progresses through the arcs and experiences the highs and lows of finding then losing his lover, his emotions mature and warp into something truly interesting to read, even for the 14th time.
ARC 2: single dad x the orphaned art student he takes in

    • You can tell in the beginning of this arc, that ZYS has to take some time to recover from the death of himself and his lover in the previous life. You can imagine how hard it's going to be as he falls deeper in love with this soul, and how he reacts when he finds out his lover's true identity.
    • Yeah so ML this time is a twice-divorced business guy with a young son. His current gf is cheating and the boy he's taken in recently found out about the cheaters, so the gf frames the boy (MC) and he is once again cannon fodder at the hands of a vengeful ML
    • It doesn't go that way obviously, since ZYS is in charge of this body now and he's gonna be so nice to that kid that daddy takes a liking to him
    • Also he's gonna manipulate and hack his way to some excellent face-slapping. Love that karmic retribution he always manages to bring.
    • In the end, he gets another rich sexy lover who's like 10 years older and we love that for him
ARC 3: cannon fodder prince x noble's son

    • The wuxia genre (maybe xuanhuan? There's reincarnation and magical plants but no Dao) has really grown on me and I loved this arc
    • No big age gap for this one, but it's the first time ZYS encounters a character who is also undergoing their own rebirth and can remember their past lives and mistakes to try to hinder him.
    • Political drama, seductive collarbones as only the ancient Chinese could describe, and satisfying face-slapping. Good stuff. Loved it.
ARC 4: fashion CEO x rich kid bottom

    • MC finally enters a BL world!
    • MC's body in this arc is a sl*tty rich kid who's running low on riches so he decides to seduce this Chad on campus, only to have his black heart exposed by said Chad and his own best friend
    • But YZS said Chad ain't his type so he goes to make money modeling because of course, in every world, he's gorgeous
    • He seduces the CEO of the fashion company or whatever it's not important
    • What's important is there's another huge age/power gap and I. Love. It.
ARC 5: brother's fiance x nobleman omega

    • Yep it's an A/B/O world, finally
    • I'll be honest I can't remember a lot of this one but it's in ancient China again
    • ZYS avoids the disastrous fate of his side of the family by being, like, a good landlord and lowkey seducing his brother's betrothed by being badass and beautiful
    • First time we see ZYL not recognize the guy who's gonna be his lover and instead try to seek the dude out himself, which of course leads to ML's jealousy
    • I really only read books from the shou's POV because this. I love this. I want the big strong ML to get jealous over the bratty MC every f*cking time, okay.
    • Also the fiance was apparently the super OP general the whole time
    • There's a lot of h**ny passages; the beginnings of the author's foot f*tish appear and I am not complaining
ARC 6: entertainment CEO x Kelly Clarkson

    • MC is a singer whose chart-topping song is stolen by his best friend and given to the original protagonist
    • ZYS won't stand for that so he gets in bed with (literally) a rival recording company and simultaneously exposes their lies and woos the world with his voice
    • He literally uses Kelly Clarkson and Adele lyrics lasdfhaskfhsakj
    • I was laughing so hard
    • Man changed a nation with "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" XD
ARC 7: adopted son x concubine omega

    • ZYS is the neglected omega concubine of the emperor and decides to throw his hat in with a better prospect, so since he's infertile, he adopts the Sixth Prince
    • Yes his adopted son goes on to push him down
    • Another story in which the original protagonist is reborn and tries to use it to his advantage only to find that ZYS has been playing 4D chess with his ass
    • MC really gaslight, gatekeep, girlbosses his way through this one
    • He plays viciously with the emperor's feelings and his reborn opponents' plans while simultaneously being a heartwarming caretaker figure for his little bun
    • "Remember, my son can be evil, he can be a saint, but he cannot be a punching bag." YES YOU TELL HIM MAMA SHENG ToT
    • His little bun who grows up to be the next emperor as all the competition was taken out
    • By now, we've realized that just as ZYS is inhabiting these bodies as a form of "rebirth" and able to put them on a new path, so too is his lover. Thus, the once-brain-dead emperor or cannon fodder orphan or whatever will become super OP and obsessive over MC
ARC 8: reality TV producer x America's Next Top Model

    • ZYS is a cannon fodder contestant on a modeling reality program and he manipulates the other models and the audience themselves so he can win with his looks, eagerness, and classic shou charm
    • I loved this one so much
    • Very cliche, nothing we haven't seen before, but so enjoyable to read
ARC 9: super soldier x zombie apocalypse scientist

    • Honestly, you should read Arc 9 if you read any of them. An amazing World War Z story where for the first time, our MC is truly put to the test and a HE is not guaranteed.
    • First time where you can see from here on out, portions of ZYS's previous characters getting infused with the next body
    • I cried.
ARC 10: literal god x priest boy

    • If you read any other arc you MUST read this one. After reading, I immediately drafted fanfiction AUs for every fandom inspired by this. Holy hell.
    • The plot thickens when it comes to discovering the rules and boundaries of his lover's existence in each world, as well as the truth to his "real" identity.
    • Here again, ZYS is forced to make a drastic decision early-on so as to not face immediate execution, and this decision literally lives with him in later lives and is even referenced in the extras.
    • He must play the role of devout Light God worshipper and next-bishop-in-line Joshua. Along the way, he catches the eye of the literal light god, as well as something darker.
    • Heart-pounding fantasy action with elves, beastmen, assassinations, sexy praying, the works. And absolutely heart-wrenching, beautiful prose that just crushes you.
    • I cried. And then I smiled and kicked my feet again.
    • Love love love
    • If anyone has a BL book rec that's just like this, please let me know ASAP
ARC 11: space general x secret omega soldier

    • The arcs just keep getting better!
    • In this one, MC's character is rejected in marriage by ML and betrothed to some weak-ass omega who's pretending to be a beta so he can train in the army
    • Once ZYS arrives however, he joins the academy and blows everyone away while seducing his ex-fiance with previously-unheard-of brains and badassery
    • ZYS in fact cuts out his omega gland and cuts all ties to ML, working his way to the top on his own skill while the ML's new fiance cheats on him and plans to entrap MC
    • It of course doesn't work and ZYS and ML work together to defeat the Zerg and save the planet
    • It's super cool
    • Good god on reviewing my notes I forgot how bloody some of these revenge scenes can be damn
ARC 12: peak master x tr*sh disciple

    • FINALLY A CULTIVATION ARC WHOOOOO
    • MC is sent to a world where he's a cannon fodder tr*sh disciple. tr*sh spiritual roots, tr*sh personality, throw away the whole disciple
    • This disciple had a famous older brother though and because of reasons, MC became the target of a ton of people's evil intentions.
    • Peak master ML comes across MC's crippled, destroyed body and has a hunch that he should care for this person, and this is one of the first times we see that ZYS's rebirth power is to retain his memories and identify his lover with a kiss, but his lover is starting to be able to identify ZYS based on just a look since they've lived so many meaningful lives together
    • This is mostly a leveling-up-cultivation novel, lots of inter-sect drama and politics, good xianxia shit.
    • In fact, the ML levels up so much (since he's not the original sect master, he's a new and improved ZYS lover) that the gods literally have to send heavenly tribulations down and the world begins to crack
    • ZYS suspects here that his lover's extreme strength and power in the worlds that the system creates is because
      Spoiler

he's in fact a program designed to destroy the system

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

"[ML] had never wondered about who he really was or why he existed, but now, he suddenly felt enlightenment. His body was suddenly solid, suddenly virtual, ever-changing and flickering, his eyes becoming more and more cold and heartless, machine-like. However, when he brushed against the loving memories with his lover, his eyes changed from heartless to affectionate...
He was created to destroy, but he would never destroy that person."

      [collapse]
INTERMISSION: the real world

    • After all that, ZYS wakes up in his original world, the one wayyyy before even the first arc. Here, he's a hacker in a world on the brink of collapse due to a "Queen" AI that's using mechs to destroy everything.
    • You find out here that the system
      Spoiler

was a program created by the Queen to entrap and monitor any humans currently in virtual reality and use their life-force from each world as her own power source.

      [collapse]
    • And his lover is
      Spoiler

actually a self-destruct program that was designed into the Queen, but since the program (ML) broke through in the last world, the Queen was alerted to his presence even without the use of a system and both the program and the Queen disappeared.

      [collapse]
    • Now, ZYS's mission is
      Spoiler

to find his lover and bring his "soul" back to the real world so they can destroy the Queen once and for all and live truly together.

      [collapse]
ARC 13: business tycoon x playboy game CEO

    • ZYS enters the virtual worlds again to accomplish his mission, but to his surprise, he's landed in the very first world he ever came to. Thus, he knows exactly what he'll do this time since he doesn't have the villain system to boss him around.
    • So ZYS still has his memories and can identify his lover with just a feeling, but unfortunately, after
      Spoiler

the detonation of the program in

      [collapse]
the cultivation arc, his lover has lost his memory and can no longer sense ZYS. Still, ZYS is determined but instead of ML being obsessive and wooing him, he's doing the same thing to win back his lover. A fun reversal.
    • In this world, ZYS was originally the villain who slept around and got his game design idea stolen by his poor employee. Now though, he predicts her moves and seduces the tycoon to end up with a total win.
    • Oh yeah forgot to mention there's a r**e scene, like, a couple of them. Nothing too graphic and of course it's done to the villains but still. It won't be the last one.
    • ZYS comes back at the end and realizes that the General Orr he woke up next to is
      Spoiler

actually an empty husk, that his soul was s**ked out by the Queen along with most others in the virtual worlds. Therefore, such a handsome vessel would be perfect for his lover to inhabit hehehe
if they can live that long...

      [collapse]
ARC 14: sexy business uncle x orphan boy

    • READ THIS ONE TOO OH MY GOD
    • Extra 1 is actually an AU of this arc because it's so good.
    • ZYS remembers this world from before when he had the villain system, and it did NOT end well for him since his character was a poor orphan boy seemingly adopted by his estranged sister's rich family only for the purpose of supplying his sickly sister with a heart. It's a 'my sister's keeper' situation, and it is dramatic as hell.
    • Basically, ZYS gets there and immediately knows he's only there as an organ donor, but the family tries to keep it secret. ZYS decides to use the family's older brother, famed heartless pianist Xue Zi Xuan, to disrupt their fate.
    • But XZX is only interested in piano and his adopted little sister, so our MC being a genius decides to win him over with the power of music. But XZX is an obsessive bastard so his attention is now torn and the sister has to share it, which she doesn't like.
    • Meanwhile, ZYS has realized that XZX's uncle is actually his lover, a sexy man in a wheelchair which apparently is fine because canonically MC's favorite position is cowgirl, so he doesn't need XZX and his increasingly-yandere tendencies towards him.
    • A lot of business and music drama happens, there is some absolutely beautiful prose that I as a violinist came to tears over, and of course there's the inevitable mu*der plot.
    • In the end, XZX chooses ZYS over his family and sacrifices his hand to save ZYS, but by now the bridges between ZYS and the adopted family who only saw him as an organ donor are burned, and he walks into the sunset with his lover.
    • I cried.
ARC 15: general x cuckold emperor

    • ZYS becomes an emperor whose favorite concubine slept with his brother and tried to pass the child off as his own
    • His lover is Zhao Xuan (which shall be his name henceforth) who's a general who has already sided with the traitorous brother
    • I'll be honest, this one is hard to follow if you're not used to reading wuxia and political drama novels
    • It's so funny though because ZYS pursues ZX and they eventually get close as emperor and general confidant, but also ZX keeps kidnapping him and also has a fixation with his feet XD
    • Their relationship is really so fun in every arc, so many quotes saved from this one
ARC 16: zhao xuan x zhou yun sheng

    • BIG OLE SPOILERS, JUST GONNA COVER THE WHOLE THING
    • Spoiler

ZYS finally has enough data to send his lover's soul into General Orr Assai's body in the real world but when they both wake up, Orr has no memory of him and acts just like the original.

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

He finds out that the Queen has been transferred to a lone computer guarded by thousands of mechs, and that they have to destroy the computer to save the galaxy

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

ZYS, Orr, and Orr's crush's brother all go on a giant mission with the army to put a chip into the computer. Since Orr hasn't yet awoken to become Zhao Xuan, he's not OP enough and the brother is chosen to be the savior of mankind and in charge of the chip

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

At the last second though, ZX wakes up and takes control of Orr's body, grabbing the chip and putting into the correct computer against army orders

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

ZYS and ZX are reunited again but Orr's crush and the brother are suspicious and do the typical plotting against the couple that comes to an end with some truly wonderful face-slapping and karma.

      [collapse]
    • It's way cooler than I'm describing, there's amnesia plot, a prison break, high-tech hacking, and sexy times.
    • Spoiler

"He thought he was destined to be formless, no future, no home. But when the boy sitting in the audience focused such loving, fervent eyes on him, he had a heartbeat, he had emotions, he had a form, a future and a home. He existed for him." crying in the club rn

      [collapse]
And that's it! But WAIT, THERE'S MORE

Extra 1: I recommend reading this last; it's an AU of arc 14. XZX gets a chance at rebirth but not with our super OP ZYS, but with the original ZYS who was forced to work under the villain system the first time in that world. It's a standalone piece that had me cracking up in laughter and drowning in my own tears. Finally, a beautifully happy end for these two, albeit in another life...

Extra 2: happens sometime between arc 13-15. The weakest of the extras for me; basic story of corrupted monk ZX x demon sect master ZYS. It's very MDZS. Still wonderfully written though.

Extra 3: happens right before the final arc. I SWEAR I'M NOT A FURRY BUT I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. ZYS is a little fox yokai whose body holds super martial powers so he gets caught and abused by the world's original protagonist. The country's richest man, however, happens to be ZX so he immediately is smitten with the fox even though the creature can't transform yet. Eventually, ZYS transforms into a human (I know some of you are sighing in relief, you wusses) and together with his rich bf, they enact revenge and live a good life.

Extra 4: the epilogue to the canon story. ZX and ZYS go on a honeymooning adventure in a prehistoric world where (AGAIN, I AM NOT A FURRY, BUT--) ZX turns into a lion and the two of them become kings of the jungle. There's a really cute side couple here too, would love more content about them. Honestly, would love a whole sequel with our main characters <3

I can't give this a 0, but that's my real rating for it.

f*ck I really had high expectations for this novel, and I really did try to read it... but seriously? The plot is so illogical, 0 chemistry between MC and ml, hella mary sue/gary stu, MC wayyyy too op - to the point where its bad, and like 0 obstacles whatsoever. There is no thrill in reading this at all. No conflict, just MC flaunting his op-ness without any development/build-up. I really can't go on reading. Do not read... more>> this unless you're into cringey op chuuni wattpad-fanfic type of literature, ESPECIALLY DO NOT ATTEMPT TO READ IF YOU'RE A VETERAN DANMEI ENJOYER, you'll die from cringe, seriously. Don't waste your time, it's not worth it. If you would have to go through tedious, bland, boring, and terrible writing to get to the 'good' part at the end, then that's a sign that it isn't a good novel.

I can't comprehend how people call this the 'bible' of QT. THERE IS LITERALLY PEDOPHILIA BEHAVIOR IN THIS NOVEL!? I'm not even an avid reader of the QT genre but theres so many more thats written better than this cringey fanfic; please, go read 'Don't Pick Up Boyfriends From The tr*sh Bin' instead of this - now that's a good QT where theres actually character depth, chemistry and a solid, unique plot.

Despite its' popularity, ever wonder why there's no carrd for qwtfotd? It's because it's not worth reading 💀 <<less

I want to laugh at those IDIOTS that review after only reading quarter of the novel HAHAHAHAHAHA, they really thought they reviewed something, dear lord I'm crying & laughing 😂 Impatient idiots the lot of them. OK listen up, the early chapters are of course easy and a bit repetitive but what kind of game let's you go on hard mode first? It wants you to get used to it then BOOM the chapters will get longer and more complicated, MC will face problems even his golden finger was unusable... more>> due to 'Lord God' finding out.

So yes, the good parts are in the back, FOR REAL, I have lots of fav but the one where author even had to make an EXTRA for a love interest that loves MC with his SOUL, it shows that the fans really crying and needed closure and the extra really helped on that :')

AND DON'T GET ME ON when he finally got back to reality, you thought its gonna straight away be happy happy shit, but nahhh, there's more plot, and wow it wasn't annoying IT MADE THINGS SPICIER HOLY sh*t ML IS FREAKING hdhdheb AHH IDK HOW TO SAY BRUHHH, the journey and their love is very healthy and beautiful. THE power couple of the Empire *faints* <<less

I'm seriously confused at those who rated this novel well. Have you guys never read a proper novel?

The story consists of 70% exposition. I don't feel like I'm reading a story but a synopsis. Nothing's fully explored, major events are described at a breakneck pace, and new characters are introduced in one paragraph and gone after the very next. Complex premises that'd take an entire book to explore are reduced to a single chapter broken down to 10 segments.

That whole motto, "show, don't tell"? Nothing is shown, everything's just force... more>> fed down my throat.

There's no complexity in the characters either. Hubris is just countered with more hubris. Yes, the male leads are smart, attractive, powerful, and vengeful. And then? There's nothing beyond that. I'm not reading characters, I'm reading character archetypes so perfectly molded that I forgot they're even supposed to be human. Sure, the protagonist is some sort of god-tier transmigrator, but he's so one dimensional it's painful. If this was some generic webnovel, I'd understand. But how is this considered the best of the genre? My p*rn has better pacing and chemistry. <<less

Truthfully, I started to read the FOD because it has a huge raiting. So far I'm greatly dissapointed. I just tried to understand WHY people like the novel so much. But it was sooooo boooriiing.

The MC is a god! No! Better! He knows all, he can do anything and everything he wants. And the ML is the same.

The only arc that is rather interesting was about a painter, who was wronged.

It's a pity I lost so much time reading this

I've finished reading this pre-covid but I still come back occasionally to read arc 9 whenever I feel like it. I never left a review before because this novel overall was just meh but the ninth world is *cheff's kiss* for me. I neither loved or hated this novel and I don't particularly care about other people's review because everyone's free to love or hate it.

Well, today I was planning to reread arc 9 again and just happened to glance at the reviews at the top. The first one was... more>> a two-star review that I respect since they just said that they liked some of it but overall was meh and advised people that if the first few arcs doesn't interest them then just don't continue reading and I think that judgement is fair since I am a firm believer of the DON'T LIKE DON'T READ rule.

The tags exist for a reason people. But that review is not the reason why I felt the need to write my own after my years of quietly rereading arc 9. There is a rather scathing 1 (0) star review left by a Veteran Danmei Enjoyer that I did not enjoy reading.

They said that people would only like this novel if they're into "cringey op chunni wattpad-fanfic" type of novels and then proceeds to warn Veteran Danmei Enjoyers that they will certainly die from cringe if they read this. What is this if not condescending? That's also the tone of the Veteran Danmei Enjoyer for the whole review.

They say that they were deceived by the high ratings. They are not the first review to express such concerns but here's an advice; Don't get deceived by the high ratings. How? Read the 3 stars reviews. Usually those would be from people who enjoyed the novel but is aware that not everyone would enjoy it. Some 3 star reviews would even be kind enough to explain which parts may be good or bad based on their own reading experience. For this, might I point everyone over to Attica's review posted on October 12, 2018. One of the other reasons why I never posted a review of my own is because their review already exists and I thought that was enough warning to people but I guess I had too much faith on some of the danmei readers. Feel free to check out that review after this but I just have a few more points to make.

They complained about the pedo elements of the story. There is a shota tag up there people. Please make it a habit to read tags. For the new readers, don't worry since this is a qt novel, the shota does not exist in every arc. I only remember one or two arcs with it but I'm not sure since I just skip whole paragraphs (chapters in some cases) whenever I don't like what I'm reading. Btw arc 9 doesn't have any pedo elements.

Do I believe that this novel is at the top of the qt genre? Not really. Does that mean I should get upset people feel differently? Absolutely not. This is just a story and people are free to love or hate it. So no one should get upset over the fact that people like this.

To clarify, I'm not upset that people don't like this novel. I'm just not a fan of the condescending tone of the review. It's as if they're saying that "I don't like this one so how DARE people like this. They are not Veteran Danmei Enjoyers. They are cringey chunni wattpady newbies that doesn't know good from bad literature". That's not exactly what they said but that's the feeling I got from it. Are people not free to enjoy what they like?

This is objectively not the best novel. There are too many five star reviews (tbf most of them are from 2017 when the other qt novels were not yet fully translated). But people should be able to read this without the influence of an overly condescending review that gets deceived by ratings and does not take tags seriously.

To the new readers, please refer to the 3 star reviews for any novel, high rating or not. Those would usually give you the most objective reviews about the story. At least that's what I do to not get deceived by ratings.

This story has 16 arcs. Some are good and some are bad imo. But in the end, if you feel compelled enough to read this then do so with an open mind so that you can form your own opinions about it. You're free to overly praise it, hate it to your core, or just feel okay towards it just don't be a condescending prick about it. Good day. Read what you like and if you don't like something then don't read it. Veteran Danmei Enjoyers should be familiar with that rule already.

Note: I know the reviewer never really referred to themselves as a Veteran Danmei Enjoyer but you can just feel the superiority that they have from that review. Again, I don't have a problem that they don't like qwtfod but the attitude they have in the review irks me like wtf 💀 <<less

Many people have given this very high ratings, so I came in with really high expectations, and tried to give it a chance by reading till the end. But sadly, it did not live up to the hype. I can see why some people would like this novel as an overpowered transmigration novel with a lot of face-slapping. But to me, the characters seemed very two-dimensional. Many of the characters are just there to serve as a foil to show how even more overpowered the main character is - who... more>> unreasonably, unexplainably, has a wealth of knowledge in every single world.

And don't even get me started on the male lead. I see this trope very often in BL novels, unfortunately, but the MC and the love interest basically have zero chemistry. I get that the author's trying to paint them as inseparable, romantic lovers, but I really can't feel any sense of "love" between the two of them, except for the physical affection they have for each other. They're more like f*** buddies if I have to put it so crudely.

This is just my honest and rather harsh rating of it, but if you're looking for a light hearted quick transmigration novel with face slapping, this is for you. :≫ <<less

Hey you!

Yeah you! I know why you lurk around here..

because you wanna know whether this novel deserve your precious time or not, yea?

... more>> Guess what? You're gonna regret it later, trust me..

You're gonna regret reading it, because the anxiousness of waiting of the new chapter update is unbearable.. It's that good, yes! ;)

f*ck I was kya kya-ing on almost every chapters, I'm going crazy :D

It's very entertaining, it makes me happy.

Well even if you're not into shounen ai, you can still enjoy the story.. Because the bed scene is really really subtle.. if I have a 12 yo child, I wouldn't mind them reading this novel.. It's a safe novel, cute, fluffy, heartwarming and the stories are beautiful. Or I can just tell them to skip the sexy part lol

(Edit : the last few episodes, they aren't suitable for kid's reading material. No seriously, there are depiction of brutal torture methods such as raping woman by inserting all kind of objects to her private part while she's screaming in agony and wanting to die, THIS IS NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS UNDER 16 in my opinion, so if you're still a pure child in your mind.. Just avoid reading parts after the "LORD GOD" aka "The AI QUEEN" realized about ZYS trying to defeat her.

The hot s*x scenes is fine, s*x is natural afterall.. S*xual torturing isn't!!.)

Here's a theme song for this Novel.

(Nature Boy by Nat King Cole.)

There was a boy..
A very strange, enchanted boy..

They say he wandered very far..
Very far, over land and sea..
A little shy and sad of eye..
But very wise was he..

And then one day..
One magic day he passed my way..
While we spoke of many things..
Fools and kings..
This he said to me:

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return" <<less

After being battle-hardened for over two years by so many different c-novels, I still come back to re-read FOD at least once every 5 months or so. By no means FOD is a perfect novel or a masterpiece that can rival Dostoyevsky, but it never intended to be such. Hence I was quite surprised by the sheer amount of negative reviews when I decided to recheck the NU page for this novel once again. If anything, you shouldn't read a novel with "top hacker [being] chosen by the Lord God to be reborn into countless worlds, always as an expendable villain" in its description and expect being philosophically enlightened :))))

FOD is a feel good novel that you read if you want to relax your mind and enjoy some good... more>> and traditional face-slapping. It's not surprising why for so many people FOD is the white-moonlight of the quick transmigration genre; it does a great job of creating interesting worlds accompanied by sweet romance and satisfying revenge.

One of the main criticisms that one may see a lot is that the plots of each arc are repetitive, with no suspense alongside over-powered protagonists. And while I agree for some this may not be their cup of tea, this is essentially the main selling point of the novel. FOD never shied away from endorsing itself as a Gary Stu story, and that's something that I find a lot of pleasure in. You don't read each arc for the sake of suspense and innovativeness; you read it as you want to see exactly how would ZYS will deal with his opponents and the teeth rotting romance between ZYS and ML.

In terms of characters, MC (Zhou Yun Sheng) is the star of the show. He is cunning and cruel, yet kind to those deserving. While he is incredibly over-powered to the point of ridiculousness; I still found him quite relatable and surprisingly down to Earth. It is also quite refreshing to see a MC who is so open about his se*uality, which to me personally makes the story far more enjoyable than its competitors. And while the author could've easily saved their word count by not dedicating thousands and thousands of words describing ZYS's beauty; to me this was more like a running gag if anything. He is a very pleasing protagonist who knows what he wants and won't hesitate to achieve it by any means. He is morally grey, but that is precisely why it makes him more realistic in comparison to other MCs in the same genre. More often than not, his cruelty is justified and also satisfying to witness. His opponents aren't brainless nor s*upidly ridiculous and over the top, in fact I often found myself pitying them; thus making the whole process of "face-slapping" more interesting, despite knowing that ZYS will win regardless.

There is not much I can say about ML as his presence was more like a concept if anything. His personality traits change from arc to arc, therefore it is harder to give any feedback regarding his characterisation. That being said, his interactions with ZYS in each arc were very fun and sweet; he is the companion that ZYS deserves. His 'concept' is essentially being completely smitten by the MC to the point of insanity, and I would eat this up every single arc hahaha. He is essentially the embodiment of a perfect lover that is quite fitting to this sort of novel; a la overbearing CEO gong that we are so used to seeing in danmei. And while this is a cliche that so many people are tired of; it is still important to remember as to why cliches become cliches- because so many people liked it.

Overall, this novel does a great job at its intended purpose- to satisfy the reader (that is of course if above is on par with your preferences). It's a relatively quick read with many worlds to satisfying one's cravings for different diegesis and a perfect novel for the newbie readers who have just entered the scene. As such, it will forever remain as one of the most fun novels I have ever read, disregarding its quite obvious shortcomings and fairly valid critique. <<less

It's just tr*sh, honestly. Unlikable MC, unlikable ML, terrible writing involving the same adjectives being used over and over (take a shot every time MC's supple waist, eyes, and world ending beauty is described) as well as info-dumping like crazy. There's also some extremely hilarious scenes of plagiarism from the MC (through the author of course) that made my organs cringe. Do yourself a favor and read Don't Pick Up Boyfriends from the tr*sh Bin instead. I'd only recommend this if you want to make every future novel you read... more>> a million times better in comparison. <<less

It's bad... It's just so bad. I honestly don't understand how this tr*sh has so many positive reviews?? It starts off (kinda) good but it gets repetitive and annoying real fast. And when I say "good", I mean that I never read a quick-transmigation, world-hopping novel before and it took me a while to notice how unoriginal and stereotypical the plot of this one was. And I had SO many red-flag warnings that this novel sucks! This shows how much I wanted to like it. I thought that all the... more>> positive reviews were made because of some incredible ending, that the last chapter would compensate it all. But I eventually gave up.

By the time I dropped it, I already hated both the MC and ML. I don't even remember how much chapters I read (the MC had came back to the real world already so it was a LOT) and I honestly regret not dropping it sooner. <<less

Maybe I’m broken but I really don’t understand all the hype around this novel. Mass hysteria perhaps? This novel is enjoyable if you don’t mind reading sort-of repetitive, often cringy, fast-paced short stories with lackluster endings. The MC is a genius, yes, but that’s it. I understand he went through horrible deaths/situations when he had to play the part of the villain but that doesn’t mean the author had to make it seem like his personality was s**ked out in my opinion. As for the ML, he was pretty dry... more>> too, didn’t stand out to me much.

The MC went through the worlds fast, always beautiful In appearance, never struggling, and him leaving the worlds sometimes happened so abruptly that you would miss it if you weren’t paying attention. I really wanted to like it based on all the positive reviews and the number of re-readers but it just lacked so much substance.

I probably would’ve liked this novel more if I had read this BEFORE I read another world-hopping/transmigration novel (Don’t pick up boyfriends from the tr*sh bin). After reading that one, this novel was very lackluster in comparison. Very different concepts/storyline besides the world-hopping of course, but the world build-up & characters here lacked the depth and liveliness that were present in DPUBFTTB so the stark contrast was prominent. It could also be that I preferred DPUBFTTB because I liked how the MC would leave the body and the host was able to live on with their new (& improved) life. But in this novel..

Spoiler

The MC just stays in their bodies & lives the rest of their lives for them. When the MC talks about fulfilling the host’s dreams & desires I always thought “What’s the point?? You’re going to live it FOR THEM, they’re already dead???”. Just didn’t make sense to me.

[collapse]

Everyone has their own tastes & preferences of course but this just didn’t do it for me. <<less

Eh.

I didn't really want to read it at first because this sort story device of world jumping and systems isn't my thing unless it's reincarnations (with no system). Romance is presented as if it was a main part of the story, but of course falls behind due to the minimal development.

A lot of it felt lazy. They sort of just... got together and then that was it. In the first world, MC wanted to use ML for face-slapping and MC is hot and cute and ruthless and that's it so... more>> ML likes him (which is honestly fine but I guess since his data is the same in all worlds after the first that means he falls deeply in love at first sight despite many worlds where MC is noticeably different in personality but it's the SOUL now I guess).

A rare thing I do like about this novel is that MC is gay already and makes the moves on ML himself. Which is difficult to find, so props to that.

When I say love at first sight I mean that literally. Like. No. MCs character is simply automatically more attractive. I guess it makes sense that they've already fallen in love, there's no need to start anew, but since we barely got any development in the first world it's just same old. And in many worlds it's just lust and that's it. ML's entire concrete personality was just a usually-rich-and-powerful person who is completely and utterly obsessed with MC and is also h**ny as all heck but at least the story is self-aware amirite.

Spoiler

Sometimes r*pe and also underage (but oh-hoh actually consensual but still mcfracking r*pe in ML's mind, like he hid his identity purposefully). Also creepy stalker behavior that usually is way more creepy than sweet.

[collapse]

But since the romance is... honestly terrible in many technical parts of his novel, how is (are) the rest of the story (ies) ? Inconsistently good versus bad, mostly just weird. Due to the world jumping, it's possible to like some worlds and hate others. MC is OP, I guess reasonably because he's already a seasoned world jumper.

Spoiler

Also a god-level hacker, meaning after gaining control of the system, he is LITERALLY A GOD and can change a crap ton of stuff, including his physical looks, his aura, downloading and plagiarizing songs from other worlds, creating flawless audio files, and basically anything else learned through the countless worlds he already experienced like, cooking, acting, singing (with tweaks to his data for superhuman range), business, etc.

So uhm, he had no real flaws before nor after his experiences other than "normal talent" to "overpowered talent" and being a bit of a bastard (but he's still ALWAYS right).

[collapse]

So, the point is not character nor relationship growth (because that happens literally never for literally ANYONE) but face-slapping and revenge schemes. The only one I really actually liked was the last historical one, where MC was an emperor, and that was only counting the world and one side character, not the romance.

Spoiler

Since that's also the one ML repeatedly drugged then r*ped him while hiding his identity because "he loves him and dat's all there is to it :D"

"oh he kissed me while drugged (ignoring MC's awareness) ? ok better drug him constantly and r*pe him now and THEN try to ACTUALLY kidnap him"

[collapse]

Since the only people that actually matter are the side characters because usually they're the ones who go through anything note-worthy they were all one-demensional except for maybe two. And of course almost all entirely UNFORGIVEABLY EVIL.

Spoiler

Main villainess in the supermodel world was such a weird one. Like, she was abused during childhood and r*ped when she was a young adult by her stepdad with the approval of her mom to sustain a financial marriage, but she's villified for almost all of the story 20% for her scheming ways (as if she doesn't have good reason to want to escape, even if she was a terrible person) and then 80% for her CURVY BODY which is glaringly body-shaming in the name of Chinese beauty standards of human-noodle proportions, especially for females. The standard of "youthful child" silhouette with a either a great metabolism or eating one meal of a fruit a day. Then she becomes a p*rn star as punishment. This story portrays an abused r*pe-victim (btw with non-con already being a huge problem in cnovels already) as someone who will inevitably be objectified as a CURVY female. What the fudge nuggets.

This isn't even mainly about her as a character (yes she's a terrible person and irl r*pe doesnt justify... cheating I guess) and more what her character stands for. These people are already represented extremely poorly especially in c-novels, so it's just annoying as all hell.

Also MC in the autistic artist story just pretending to be autistic because okay fine. Original character died, and MC needs to be not OOC.

And possibly autistic and definitely 0-degrees-empathy brother character in the twins world being more sympathetic is the best example where a marginalized group is more positively portrayed, except maybe gays??

[collapse]

2.0/5.0 might be lower. Not utterly painful to read but boring and weird and uh. yeah.

To me it's highly, highly overrated, but I guess I like things developing and interesting and meaningful characters, and don't like yandere/self-aware rapist MLs.

The point of the whole story was to face-slap and vengeance so whatever, I'll give a pass on the OP MC since to me that's not one of the major problems that tiggered me. I already knew that when I was getting into it that the MC simply isn't going to be anything more than a wish-fulfillment mechanical hand. His character development is done mainly before the story actually begins, which is suffering suffering suffering, and after meeting ML it's "and so now I love and can feel SO MUCH emotion". Aight. It's... shallow but there.

Also I skipped the very last irl arc cause I just didn't give enough of of a shyte about any of the characters to continue to irl. Sorry. <<less

On the first read of the whole entire novel, I was satisfied and content. The sweet revenge stroked my desire for face slapping. This novel is a great revenge fulfillment story. You feel satisfied about the justice that the main protagonist gets.

But I recommend to stop rereading after 1 or 2 time. When the exciting and happy emotions disappear, logic and clarity will kick in. And honeymoon no more...

Continue reading for the finer detail.

Coming back and reading the story for the nostalgia and fun again, I’ve realized how redundant and... more>> poorly written this novel is.

Spoiler

Over time, the methods that the hacker uses to achieve his goals deviates from his original plan: to take revenge using his own strength and power.

We start seeing usage of eye hypnotism power and miraculous body shaping skills. Wow! I didn’t know humans can hypnotize with eyes and change appearance at will!

One can argue that the hacker really did achieve his goals with his own power by hacking into the system and manipulating its power. Yet, when he unnaturally changes his appearance or use fantastical/somewhat magical hypnotism power to control people, the integrity of his mission (to take revenge with his own power) is lost.

All of the sudden, it’s not fun to read about a character that’s get everything handed on a silver platter (basically). The hard work and planning from arc one slowly disappears as magical powers kick in.

I lament this tragic demise of the hackers original mission.

Now I can’t read the story without picking out the minute and irritating details.

That’s why the reader of this review should heed my warning: don’t reread too much. You’re gonna regret it!

Truth to be told.. This story has started to slowly shape my preference for novels. Some might find it boring and stuff but have you really finished reading all of the arcs? Read everything first before you critique it really helps. This novel has this charm that if you start reading it, you get pulled into finishing it all in one sitting. That was what happened when I read this. Immediately hooked and actually abandoning sleep just to finish it. Yes, it is addicting. Very addicting.

This is such a cool and romantic BL novel. A refreshing approach and representation of "true love" and "destiny".

Different lives in different dimensions. Yet, the couple always find each other. Reading this makes you appreciate and admire the "bond" between them. It made me wish and pray for someone who is actually born for me. I'm in love.

EDIT: For potential readers/fan, please do not mind those who gave this low rating esp. Those who actually gave a review after chapter 1.1. (Pardon my transgression but I have to mention..) That... more>> is like browsing the preface of the book and calling it tr*sh. I finally... finished this novel. I just kept reading, I thought to myself, surely with this many views and worshiping this novel must be absolutely amazing, it must get better at some point! But no!!! I finished this novel purely out of spite and I can’t bear to touch the extras I’m so tired.

I admit there were a few arc where I enjoyed them and liked the set up very much. But everything in this novel just felt So Easy. There was no suspense. Every arc was pretty much the... more>> same. The MC gets his thorough revenge through his madly OP skills, hacking, acting, anything you can think of he’s probably a god at. Hell I usually love the overpowered MC trope, but something about this novel in particular had my eyes glazed over in boredom. I didn’t mind his personality, I find the cold and calculating protagonist fun. However with him, it all just felt so inevitable and boring. The entire novel felt like I was just reading the Very Long extras of another novel that doesn’t exist. And maybe that was the point, but I personally couldn’t dig it. Speaking of Not Digging, here’s some other things to be aware of:

• Author for some reason Really likes using G*ng R*pe as a way to get back at characters that have gone against the main duo. And trust me I love a good merciless crushing, but really?? Author seems to love that particular punishment and I found it completely unnecessary and hard to read.

• Why does this author love age differences so much! A majority of the plot lines are pretty damn p*dophelic!

• Very Dubious and R*pey. The novel portrays it as, oh its fine because the MC and you as the reader both know that its the ML reborn! But for me personally it was not very comforting. I LOVE possessive and weird MLs but the repetitive dubious vibes, especially combined with the often p*dophile vibes, just wore me down when it’s basically most of the relationships.

Idk man this novel just exhausted me. This review is exhausting me too so that’s all I got. Give it a try if you want, maybe it’s your thing. But my advice is that if you read the first couple arcs and aren’t impressed, don’t keep reading in hopes of it getting better cause that’s basically the whole thing. <<less

MC is a hypocrite. Very overpowered too. The arcs are all just cliche stories where he makes himself/whatever character possesses the one being wronged. The a ton of face slapping on shallow characters whom are all being controlled by the way, just as he was.

He is described as being extremely white, translucent like skin with visible blue veins, flawless, incomparably beautiful, the author may as well be sucking his o|o. He has the ability to enhance his five senses in each life, along with being powerful. *I don't like the... more>> description of his body as it blatantly makes it seem like the paragon of beauty are those with pale skin, always thin, and associates white skin with being deemed pure. Author's bias is showing.

Turns out the ML is transmigrating along with him so he starts looking for the ML in every world. ML is a possessive bot going 'protect the MC. Dominate the MC. Destroy the life of anyone who looks at the MC' Not to mention extremely possessive and controlling.

In addition, MC plagiarized multiple works and then pats himself on the back for being oh so smart? Rolling my eyes out of my head.

Spoiler

It's just a lot of cliches really. It's like reading 15 short stories with the same MC who never comes across any difficulty and interestingly likes possessive and controlling men while hating the first 'man' to control him.

He's thinks he's only had a brief bout of 8th grader symptom but he never actually recovered. He becomes just the the very thing he's trying to destroy. <<less

Seeing the sky-high rating and masses of reviews singing praises, I, inevitably, had high expectations for this novel. The higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment.

I don't know where to start. Let's begin with our MC and his cunning intelligence. So he's basically the top of the top, it's not surprising that he's an expert in every skill, in addition to, of course, being a top hacker. He basically hacks his way into every world, there's nothing that he could possibly miss. Setbacks? Difficulties? He doesn't face such things, because... more>> he is aware of everything happening around him and capable to stop any mishap. Even when faced with the approaching death of a loved one, he's not anxious at all, because he's certain that the other simply won't die. He doesn't make much effort to accomplish his goals. Everything goes very smoothly, exactly as he perceived, again, he is an intelligent individual.

There's no thrill. I can't find myself enjoying the way the story unfolds. The rest of characters are shallow to the extreme, it's boring to read about them over and over again. I kind of find it meaningless to read a story where the protagonist is aware of everything, capable of everything, and seemingly flawless. He's very arrogant, or, the way he likes to call himself, cunningly intelligent. It's not like I dislike clever and extraordinary characters, but he has been over the top and I dislike such characters.

It'd be a lie to say that I hadn't enjoyed the story at all, there were some moments which I liked and enjoyed especially you, the adorable baby from the second world. But overall, I found no thrill whatsoever and I didn't feel fulfilled. I kept pushing myself to continue reading it, I have this habit where I feel obliged to keep giving chances to works that are highly praised, but I think it's time to break it, even if gradually. I simply couldn't enjoy it, so we part! <<less
